I heard this song a few months back - thought it would translate great to wrestling.

I can help you with some of those, as I think I've already noted all the WWE matches on my site that were featured as extras. Global Warning - 3/8/86 from Sydney, Australia - Andre vs. Studd ... Rougeaus vs. Moondogs (Rougeaus' debut) ... Muraco & Fuji vs. JTTS ... might be more that slipped my mind at the moment Rey - vs. Malenko (Baltimore) ... vs. Psychosis (BATB) ... vs. Malenko (Nitro from Disney MGM) ... vs. Eddie (Havoc) ... vs. Chavo (Smackdown debut) ... vs. Tajiri (7-02) ... vs. Jamie Knoble ... vs. Angle (9-02) ... vs. Angle vs. Benoit (San Diego) ... tag match from AAA PPV When Worlds Collide

Thanks a lot, bravesfan!

Goldberg will get Triple H at Summer Slam - that's the only logical reason to push the title match back a few months. Raw is without a PPV for 2 months which should be more than enough time to buildup a big money match between the two. Keeping Goldberg occupied with the midcard establishes his cred with the WWE audience.

You know what, when the masked man showed up at the climax of the show - I thought Hell had frozen over because I could have sworn the guy was going to be revealed to be Scott Hall lol Orton is fine and dandy, but where's the shock value there? I don't think anyone's jaw dropped.

Okay, over the years I've come to one realization. When the WWE hints at a forthcoming match between two faces - be rest assured one of them is going to turn heel before the bout takes place. I wasn't surprised at Flair's turn tonight - but a face Flair vs. face HBK match would have been nice. I'm surprised they didn't try that for Hogan / Warrior at WrestleMania.
-
I bet it was a good match - much better than what Age in the Cage will be. Austin is actually getting me into Raw more, much like what the Rock did from No Way Out through Backlash.
-
Just because of the poor state WCW was in at the time, my money is on Luger (91) or Steiner (00).
-
I sure am - especially if you can get ahold of the location / date of the matches. In the results listings, I've recently started noting matches that ended up on videos I don't have (although I'm not sure if the tapes in question were UK exclusive ... Year in Reviews, Best of Raw, etc).

Much appreciated.

If it didn't happen on tv, it didn't happen!

It won't. During the 6-man table matches held over the weekend (both the one listed above and the one prior), 3MW walked out of the match after a disagreement - leaving Rico to get killed by the Dudleyz.

Here's what I have for that show thus far. There might be one or two dark matches missing but with the timeframe, it doesn't seem likely that they had a match that night. The Main Event II - Milwaukee, WI - Bradley Center - February 3, 1989 The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated the Hart Foundation when the special referee, Brother Love, counted the pinfall on Bret Hart via a Raymond Rougeau roll up into a bridge even though Hart had his shoulder up (Best of the WWF Vol. 20) WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition defeated the Powers of Pain via disqualification when Mr. Fuji threw powder in Axe's eyes (Best of the WWF Vol. 19) Televised bouts - shown live on NBC: Hulk Hogan & WWF World Champion Randy Savage defeated the Big Bossman & Akeem at 22:00 when Hogan pinned Akeem; after the match, Savage attacked Hogan backstage Ted Dibiase pinned Hercules I know they had a match a day or two after Summer Slam that year at a TV taping. That bout ended up on Super Tape '90. Then there was a SNME match in April of 90 ... a match at the Tokyo Dome right after WrestleMania VII ... not sure if any others were televised.

On paper, both cards look pretty interesting if not entertaining. I'm loving Eddie & Tajiri picking up the DQ wins by swerving the ref. Gold!
-
I can't help you out with the participants but it looks like the timeframe would be between SuperBrawl in May 91 and Flair's departure in July.
-
I like the giving out spoilers for other shows idea - but it would have to be for shows that are competing with Raw on Monday nights. Be Eric Bischoff circa 1995/96!

From the little I've seen of Orndorff pre-WrestleMania 1, he didn't have a manager.

I don't think it says anything on Goldberg's contract stating that if he can't draw big buyrates for his first PPV match after being gone for 2 years than he gets fired. I wouldn't blame him for the buyrate numbers - I would blame the overall crappy state the WWE is in at the moment. And if they expected him to draw WrestleMania-esque numbers for Backlash, well ... then I obviously give them too much credit when it comes to intelligence. I don't think anything will ever draw big numbers for Backlash. As far as revitalizing interest, didn't the Raw with the Goldberg / Christian cage match draw uncharacteristiclly high numbers? I would credit that to the WWE building and hyping the main event(s) for the following week and, as far as that specific show went, keeping a good flow throughout the telecast so that the casual viewer keeps interest. They failed to repeat that same formula this past Monday, although the tag title match was very solid, IMO.

You'll never see me start humping Goldberg's leg - but he has a lot more potential to benefit the WWE than Nash. Before Goldberg showed up, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. If the guy can better the product without the WWE redoing the whole lame ass winning streak, then I'd support him. And that's what he's done. He had, from what I understand since I don't regularly buy the PPVs, a better than average match with the Rock at Backlash. His work with Christian elevated Christian a lot more than it did Goldberg. Overall, without being pro or anti-Goldberg, I'd say he's helped Raw out quite a bit now that Rock is back in Hollywood. I think it was a smart idea to hold off on Goldberg / Triple H until later in the summer - maybe even Summer Slam. It's a money match, we're going to get it eventually. After Bad Blood, Raw will have 2 months to build a card for Summer Slam and I would be very surprised if we didn't start seeing the seeds be planted for Goldberg / Triple H the day following this next PPV.

You know, before I clicked on the link, I tried thinking of what else occured on this day and the only thing I could come up with (and I wasn't even sure if it was the correct date) was Slamboree 93. I usually don't care enough to read PPV reviews seeing as there are few shows I haven't seen and thus already have my own opinion of how it was, but I thought your recap was well done. I've never seen the PPV broadcast in its entirety but have owened the 2-hour commercial tape since 1995. I had just started watching WCW about a month or so before Slamboree 93 and was hooked immediately when I realized that the Bulldog, who was my favorite wrestler before he was let go from the WWF several months prior, was getting a world title shot. Being that they had so many former WWF stars like Orndorff, Rude, Anderson, Steamboat, and Bulldog - and that Flair had just made his return from the WWF with his sights set on regaining the world title - it didn't take long before I had WCW Saturday Night, WCW Worldwide, and WCW Main Event added into my weekly viewing schedule. I vividly remember Bulldog interrupting Vader's public workout the night before the PPV as well as the Hollywood Blondes' title victory (which, I believe was the first WCW TV show I ever saw) and the controversial Rude / Rhodes US title bout in which the championship was held up afterwards. A lot of people talk crap about the Bill Watts era of WCW and how the attendance was in the crapper until Hogan showed up. While it might be true that WCW was not making tons of money during this time, the in-ring product was equal to if not better than that of the WWF. Good work.

Kayfabe-speaking, Roberts broke his neck in a match with Dibiase which put him on the shelf from May through about October. After checking out some PWIs from the time period, the real story there was that Jake had gotten into a little legal trouble after having a run-in with a fan. Boris Zhukov had plenty of bouts against the lower card faces during 89. Maybe Nikolai was injured.

Just thought you guys would be intersted to know of some of the more rare pieces of footage I recently came across on Kazaa. Before I went home two weeks ago, I left my computer on and when I came back yesterday I had: Steamboat vs. HTM (title change from Superstars) Perfect vs. Tornado (title change from Superstars) Hogan vs. Inoki (IWGP tournament, 83) Hansen vs. Vader (Tokyo Dome, 90) Booker vs. Sting (July 00) Austin vs. the Rock (IYH DX) I've also seen Hitman Hart listed on WinMX.

Best of the WWF Vol. 16 has to be one of the ... how do I put this ... most hilarious tapes in the WWF library. After all, it did focus on Frenchy Martin, Outback Jack, and various JTTS during their tour of Australia. No Hogan, no Savage, no Harts, no Bulldogs, no Demolition, no Strike Force... Most of the matches were 2-3 years old at the time the tape was released.

I think you're right on. It kinda looked like a small hand weight.
