The OAO RAW Thread for June 13th, 2005
DrVenkman PhD replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
Sarcasm? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Absolutely not. In a flood of messages saying we should boycott Vengeance for booking a match that would be good, you came through with something that actually made sense. Bravo. -

Thank you for making sense, it is much appreciated. -

It just dawned on me that, although with some exageration on my part, this is an argument making rounds in this thread: "Don't buy Vengeance! WWE has added a match that will be good that you want to see! JUST SAY NO TO GOOD MATHCES! If you order this PPV then 1 million more people will and ECW will look disasterous with it's measley 800,000 buys! Having Angle and Michaels wrestle again is a big scam and you're the big loser if you chose to watch it!" So now we're getting mad at WWE for putting GOOD matches on PPV. It never ends. The one point I will buy is that HHH wants the match on the card so Vengeance might get a respectable buyrate after he decided that fans might not want to watch Batista/HHH III just two weeks after buying a hot ECW PPV. -

Am I foolish to give thought to Matt Hardy being rehired and interupting the Kane/Edge wedding next week? Of course if they did that they'd have to make it into a triple threat match and putting Matt Hardy and Edge in the same match would be an obvious ploy to sabotage the success of the ECW PPV because WWE honestly thinks 900,000 people are going to order Vengeance making June have 1,700,000 PPV buys and become the highest grossing month in wrestling history. You people can be so funny. -

Are you people dumb? "OMG ANGLE VS HBK THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL THE ECW SHOW" Yeah, because Vengeance, just two weeks after 800,000 people shelled out $35, is now going to outshadow not only One Night Stand but Wrestle freakin Mania because WWE went ahead and added HBK and Angle to the show. Riiiiight. -

Am I foolish to give thought to the possibility of Jericho leaving Vengeance with the WWE Title and being one of the two draft picks later that week (with Michaels) that ends up on SmackDown? Jericho vs Benoit for the WWE Title at the GAB! -

I'm 95% certain the only reason HBK/Angle II is on a nothing PPV just two weeks after the 2nd biggest PPV of the year is to get the match out of the way and send HBK to Smackdown. -

I'm almost certain that only video announcing the 8 finalists is airing tonight... if that. I don't think any of them will be in house tonight. -
Apparently you were supposed to make your picks by 7pm so Venkman's Victors got screwed for this week. Antonio Carlito Charlie Haas Daivari John Cena Johnny Nitro Kane Maven Paul London And of course Shelton Benjamin Took some from column A (on TV and win) and column B (make appearances on TV, win on B shows from time to time) Daivari is only $2M and he's on TV every week and has been wrestling more often.

THere's also that whole thing about the N64 not having "N64 Live" support, but I see what you're saying Drew. Edit: But you were answering the question of someone without an Xbox.

The AIDS song was so wrong... and I could not stop laughing. I'll join in with the camp that loved the episode... Andre the Giant and Randy Savage references, the AIDS song, the transformers deal, Popeye reference, Brian in general, Peter's modes of transport and Joe's punchline about them... good stuff.

After the show I totally forgot one of my huge mark-outs of the night... Seeing VLADIMIR the superfan alive and well after vanishing from WWE crowds. -
ECW Heatwave '98: How much does the DVD go for?
DrVenkman PhD replied to Downhome's topic in General Wrestling
Hold the phone I can sell my DVD for high high prices? Pioneer put no copy protection on it so I could just transfer the show to a VHS tape (yes kids, that's the extent of my copying skills... no DVD burners for me). Interesting stuff -

I'm currently playing through KOTOR for the first time (just recently got the Xbox) - man, those Wookies get screwed over anytime they let outsiders on Kashyyyk don't they? -
I believe Heyman said he assumed Vince would have wanted a larger venue (the Spectru mwas brought up because Dreamer mentioned it earlier)

Forgot all about it, caught it 45 minutes in but it's been great so far. I'll be watching it when it's done to see what I missed. http://www.wwe.com/common/video/bytethis_live.jsp?speed=300 or http://media.wwe.com/bytethis/livefeed/bytethis300.wvx

SmackDown's 1st Draft Lottery Pick is...
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Well if you're all so open for entire show spoilers (since the damn tags don't work), Benoit vs JBL was announced for the show this week and was in my original post before I realized the tags had no effect. -

Well that was quick... spoiler tags because people here aren't necessarily wanting to know full spoilers, I suppose: Nevermind I apparently can't get the tag to work -
SmackDown's 1st Draft Lottery Pick is...
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Well we will have to see how it all plays out.. trades, other picks, etc. Who knows, maybe Benjamin is SmackDown bound with the IC title? That would be something eh? US and IC title on SmackDown and the WWE and Wolrd on Raw. -

Well if you go by the Superstars page on WWE.com Orlando Jordan is the top champ on SmackDown. He's in the opening Velocity match this week. -

Benoit becomes the first person since the brand split to be signed to a brand 3 seperate times... impressive. He also managed to go his entire stay on Raw without having to give HHH back a PPV job and won their last encounter... also impressive. Until more names are announced though it's just more of the same things from before he went to Raw... yeah he can have more matches with Eddie or Rey or Kurt... wait I'm making that into a complaint? I do want to see a Benoit/JBL match. -
From PWI: Chris Benoit Thoughts?

There was some funny stuff in Season 5 and I would pick it up to complete the series. If I could "wrestlingize" it, it's like people saying , let's use 2004 (or any year since 2000, really) as en example, was bad when in reality it was just a bad year in the grand scheme of history compared to past years of greatness, managing to have some really good moments but mess up a lot of things along the way.

Was there any particular reason for Jerry Lawler to not only be in the 1997 KOTR but make it to the PPV semi-finals? I was rooting for him to finally win the thing and all but it seemed 4 years too late. Also I recall rumours at the time that he was going to appoint "Prince Rob Van Dam" to take his spot in the tournament but after this speculation RVD was gone from Federation television. Was this just fan speculation or was there anything to back that rumour up?

The idea of IRS making his opponent go to the back on a stretcher seems like a bit of a stretch (no pun intended) for his character. Taker I can see though. I also seem to recall reading in a WWE magazine sometime in 2002 that Steamboat mentioned he had hoped he would be able to work with Flair but was dissapointed he was not given that opportunity.
