TSM Poster Tournament 2009: Last-Day Nomination Space
DrVenkman PhD replied to a topic in Poster Tournament
I think I nominated at least 3 of those that were cut but I really don't remember now. I'm sad to see my graceful opponent from last year - Cartman - is not in it this year. -
Rumours were flying back in 2006 that she was being released / replaced by Angel Williams, but obviously that did not happen. I thought she looked fine before her facial surgeries melted, or whatever it is that happened that her face looks so unappealing now.

WWE General Discussion - January 2009

Hogan's CCW show just began airing in Canada recently. Having watched episode 4 this morning, WWE needs to work on getting Dustin Diamond in as a celebrity wrestler immediately. -
US Senator recommends steriod regulations

It's all about the superstar look. Edge is awesome and all, but the dude needs tips from Orton on how to not look have that small layer of pudginess on him in a Post-Benoit World. Ditto Helms and Batista. I mean this in the least gay way possible... but it's just not very aesthetic. This is why Savage wore a shirt for the rest of his career during the Steroid Crisis of 1991. -

Huh, her full name is "Dixie Carter Salinas". -
On the subject of game soundtracks, I have to recommend this youtube series: http://www.youtube.com/user/garudoh

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
In his mind he could always earn another shot. It's not the scenario presented is that Jeff would give up a title match to, say, go after Shelton's US title for no reason. He got put in the hospital in November and (with the proposed storyline) would lose his title both as a direct result of Christian. Nothing wrong with wanting a WrestleMania grudge match. -
I do recall him doing a Coliseum Video promo out of an office ("Tax Tips with Irwin R. Schyster").

One nice thing about the Million Dollar Corporation was it gave an excuse to use Ted's theme more often, including the Tatanka "Indian Warcry" remix. I think all of Undertaker's awful feuds were the plot point of his Patented Russo Worked-Shoot Promo in 1998.

The image of a man wearing Ted DiBiase's $ tights with a cent sign is pretty great, but I think it ends there. I'm almost certain Sid was a member of the stable post Mania 11, but I can't think of why or any angles that involved him being there.

My favourite part of that episode (besides Michael McKean's cheesy Joker): The kids have a friend name Joel who prances around a store called "Shoemaker's" talking about the Batmobile scaling walls. The kids then call him an idiot. Apparently CBright already mentioned this and I missed it. I re-watched TDK on DVD last night - not sure what the complaints I heard about the standard transfer was, it looked fine to me. I also forgot about the "should do ok against cats" line.

Yeah, it was definitely SmackDown in September '99 that caused Raw to be live every week, though they may have had more frequent live shows, I don't know. Hard to believe it was that far into the MNW but one of their biggest hits was Tony giving away the Foley title win for the first Raw of 1999. I remember reading spoilers all the time in high school - I wanted to avoid them but they were so tempting.

It's always funny with heels that you're never quite sure how kayfabe their gimmicked job is supposed to be. Big Bossman, Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly, Duke The Dumpster... these were men that, in universe, you were supposed to accept had two jobs (which though it was something of a running joke in the 90s, the new Shawn Michaels angle has shown wrestlers do need second jobs). But with heels, are they REALLY working a second job, or are they just demented assholes? It was pretty clear The Mountie was just insane and not really with the RCMP, but was it ever explained if Irwin was just a heel who accused people of being tax cheats to be an ass, or did he "really" have a second job as a tax man? Anyhow, I like how by 1994/1995 his gimmick had been merged with Repo Man - he not only called people tax cheats, he stole their stuff too.

With Xavier "Ortonsault" Cromartie, it's worth noting that his TSM League winning ways in the WWE.com Fantasy game led to him being interviewed on a WWE.com webshow about his picking prowess. Who else can say that? -
I edit everyone's Fantasy roster to change the results. I also made "theone" seem like a Too Cool for TSM Fool by making him claim he had a in the biz uncle.

WWE General Discussion - January 2009

I'd go with "means nothing", because plans always change, but I still believe Orton is winning and it will be something like HHH vs. Kozlov vs. 4 Other Guys at No Way Out. Taker, Big Show, and let's say Mark Henry and Finlay from ECW. -

Kozlov? Edit: Of course it is, it says so right at the top. The facial hair just looks odd. -

I'm not quite sure why, but I'm reading corporate bios on http://corporate.wwe.com Rey Mysterio's Rap n Wrestling?! -
It's a shame they had to overdub the Rumble theme for the DVD collection and replace Vince with the guy that does Gary Capetta impersonations on 24/7. Even worse is the fact they seemed to have regained the rights to that music since then, so it was basically an unneeded loss. The Rumble always makes for some good predictin' games, so as we get closer to the show and have a bigger list, let's make prognostications on the following: Winner Final Four #1 and #2 Iron Man In and Out Man Edit: I won't stop you from listing these things here, but Hawk 34 did up a big ol predictions game like we had last year, so check that one out for predictions of the above nature.

I just flipped over to The Fight Network and there was ol Kizarny fighting D`Lo Brown in Border City Wrestling. To show how outdated these "Superstars of Wrestling: Past, Present, and Future" shows are, Scott D'amore and Jeffrey Scott keep promoting NWA: TNA shows on Wednesday nights that will feature Sinn and his valet Tracy.
