Nice to lock up a bowl bid after stinking up the joint last year. Finally back in the top 10 too.

Roger Peckinpaugh, 1925 Washington Senators. He was named the MVP before the Series, then proceeded to commit eight errors during the series (Washington lost to Pittsburgh, 4 games to 3).

    Your favorite college

UCLA, cause it's one of the two major colleges in the area, and I spent more time when I was younger with my mom's side of the family...who are all UCLA fans.

    2006 Baseball Games

Does 2k6 have greatest teams? I have MVP 2005 and I know they have the historical players but I had heard one of the baseball games had historical teams like the '75 Reds. That would be a cool addition - I used to love the greatest team feature on the Madden series.

2006 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot

I think Gary DiSarcina, Walt Weiss and Rick Aguilera are fully deserving of election. I'm joking. If I was voting - I'd pick Blyleven, Dawson and Gossage. However I'm pretty sure Sutter will go in before Gossage because he was so close last year. Of the first timers...wow. Not a whole lot there. Actually I think Belle and Clark have very credible Hall of Fame cases and I'd love to see how they fare on the Keltner List - I think they would do pretty well. Gooden would have been a Hall of Famer had he not met drugs. Hershiser, Wetteland and Gaetti are members of the Hall of Very Good.

Greenwood, DE - Pittsburgh Steelers Troy Aikman, QB - Dallas Cowboys Warren Moon, QB - Houston Oilers / Minnesota Vikings Ken Stabler, QB - Oakland Raiders Russ Grimm, G - Washington Redskins Lester Hayes, CB - Oakland/LA Raiders Ralph Wilson, Jr. - Owner, Buffalo Bills And the final 6: Aikman Irvin D. A.L. Cy Young

Didn't TSM do this last year? I remember the ballots being similar to the ones the sportswriters had, with 10 places for the league MVP's, 10 for Cy's, etc. EDIT: Found it. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...topic=61794&hl=

    World Series-Astros vs White Sox

OK, so I simmed the series using one of the best web sites of all time, whatifsports.com. I know, it's not a perfect simulation, but it's quick and dirty and I can get results now. Last year the sim predicted the Red Sox winning in six. Here's the 2005 World Series, according to whatifsports.com: Game 1: Houston 5, Chicago 2 Game 2: Chicago 4, Houston 3 Game 3: Chicago 7, Houston 1 Game 4: Houston 8, Chicago 7 Game 5: Chicago 4, Houston 2 (11 innings) Game 6: Chicago 3, Houston 2 (14 innings) So yeah, Chicago in 6. At least, according to one computer.

This Week in College Football 9/21 - 9/24

In last years USC/Virginia Tech matchup one of the VT linebackers - Hall or Adibi - was having a hell of a game, getting a couple sacks on Leinart and basically disrupting the whole offense. He got hurt in the third quarter and USC pulled away soon after. VT also has Jimmy Williams, one of the best corners in the country. And their recievers are pretty fast, but young (mostly sophomores now). How about Florida, just to throw another possible opponent? Assuming they get out of the SEC unbeaten or with one loss. Their corners aren't anything special but they have a great front seven. Offensively you have a great QB in Leak and lots of talented recievers, playing to USC's weakness at corner.

    College Football is almost back

Not quite. UCLA was up big in that game, and even the announcers wrote off Miami. Miami had to pull off a pretty decent comeback to win, aided by UCLA's horrendous defense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IIRC wasn't there a controversial call that set up Miami's final TD drive? I try to block the game out of my head but I remember some kind of call. Also UCLA came very close to scoring on the final possession but wound up short. Of course, if UCLA doesn't give up 300 yards to Edgerrin James we wouldn't be having this conversation.

    This Week in Baseball

Went to the Dodgers/Astros game today, the Astros kept getting guys on but couldn't score them. Weaver had 10 K's, and must have gotten out of two or three jams where the Astros had runners in scoring position. Interesting moment, and maybe someone who saw this on TV might have been able to see it clearer then I could. In the top of the 7th, Biggio pinch hits for Clemens. First pitch to Biggio hits him. He starts walking to first - the ump calls him back and Biggio goes off on the ump. Next pitch, Biggio pops up. As he's heading back to the dugout, all of a sudden he turns around and him and the umpire get into it. Crowd goes wild, and someone got tossed but I couldn't see who. If it was Biggio getting hit and the umpire waved it off, why was it a ball on the scoreboard? I thought someone was out automatically. Can someone shed some light on this? Couldn't see it very well at the game.
