I can't believe LaRussa pitched to Berkman. Sure Scott's hitting .380, but for God's sake man, Lance is like 40% of our offense! Plus, he had already smashed a Carpenter pitch earlier in the game. I'm sure glad he decided to pitch to him though. Keeps the Astros alive for another day at least.

Since I don't think I've seen it done here

That Family Feud w/Christian Slater was hilarious. "Name something, besides clothes, that you find in the closet" "Spare Bibles?" "A gun. A loaded gun" "Yeah you don't have the guts!" "My father?" But just for sheer laughs, the Chippendales with Farley and Swayze, and the original Matt Foley. Watching Spade and Applegate try desperately to hold it together while Farley tries his best to get them to break character was almost as funny as the skit itself. -
Microsoft to offer free repairs for 360's before 1/1/06.

Yeah I just got done working my way through the myriad cutoffs and lost operators at Microsoft's customer service line to make my appointment. At least they're paying for the shipping. -
Yeah I saw some nice wrestling moves. The Boston Crab was nice (had it sunk in nice and deep, almost like an old school Walls of Jericho) and if I remember correctly there was a suplex in one of the matches, but the running clothesline was the best. Almost looked like Christopher Daniels' judo trip/clothesline combo.

House shouting "You can't stop our love!" to Cuddy as she goes in to face what appears to be the board of directors had me cracking up. Hard to believe that a 17 (and a half) year old girl is one of the few things that can make House look uncomfortable.

I've been keeping up with the online production diaries of this and DAMN that trailer looks awesome. I'm still hoping "The Gates of Fire" gets out of production hell and gets made though. That is a tremendous book and should make for a tremendous movie.

The ending of Chobits nearly pissed me the hell off. But, it redeemed itself in the last 7 minutes or so. I should have known better since it is CLAMP, who don't always go for the melancholy and/or bittersweet ending. I still felt like the whole series moved too slow though. They took 24 episodes (I'm not counting the 3 recap eps.) to tell a story that could have been told in maybe 15-18 episodes. Plus, they didn't even introduce what could have been two of the more interesting characters (Zima and Dita) until the series was almost over. I picked this one up cold so I knew nothing about it's tie ins to Angelic Layer. Again, it was CLAMP so I should have considered the possibility. However, I do take issue with one of the connections that basically blows up the canon for the AL anime. It does make more sense in the mangas and I guess that's what's important, but it was weird seeing it. If you've seen Chobits and AL, you probably know what I'm talking about. I also Limewired "Golden Boy". I have very mixed feeling about this, but leaning towards positive. The only real negative I have is the English dub for the main character, a 25 year old named Kintaro who specializes in travelling the country on his mountain bike doing temp jobs. He then invariably ends up in trouble, only to somehow end up not only getting out of it but helping out everyone around him. The animation is a mixed bag. It's a strange mishmash of quite realistic close ups and some outright cartoonish expressions by Kintaro with a couple of live action static shots thrown in in the last episode. As for the voices, the secondary characters are usually well done. As for Kintaro, I have mixed feelings. Most of the time he sounds like a strange cross between a California surfer and Yogi Bear. However, every once in a while, he has the funniest line readings I've heard. Aboslutely hilarious. Usually it involves the episode's love interest (who is usually jiggling away right in front of him). All in all, it's a fun watch if you've got a couple of hours (it's only 6 episodes).

Don't forget his turn as Satan in Constantine. Not as creepy as Viggo Mortensen in "The Prophecy" but he mixed amusing and menacing well.

I've been done with this thread for a long time but I had to comment on the worst, worst argument you can use in any discussion, whether it's about music, sports, whatever. "If it's so bad why don't you do better?" Terrible in any context. Why? Someone makes a statement saying, "ya right. people are lambasting edwin & inc for debunking weird al as an artist? come on. "eat it" "like a surgeon" "ahmish paradise". ya, real gems. any ass can rhyme surgeon & virgin. or beat it & eat it. REAL creative. a genius. our dylan." obviously thinks that it's so simple that anyone with a halfway functioning brain is capable of doing what Weird Al does. I'm saying that before he insults Weird Al's talent he oughta try writing one parody song and seeing how difficult it really is. This isn't like making fun of Shaq's free throw shooting since it's impractical to recreate the conditions he has to work in. This is simply sitting at a desk and writing a truly funny song that has to fit in to someone else's frame. I don't think it's as easy he obviously does.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Conspiracy_Victim replied to USC Wuz Robbed!'s topic in Television & Film
Don't you mean "SuperwomYn"? Yeah that's about the only problem I had too. I guess they're going to flesh out Peet's character later on. But yeah, I basically liked it. Weber was good as the oppresive, more than slightly slimy boss and Perry was awesome. I hope he gets to take his pain meds for at least the next several episodes. -
Like Slayer said, Al's original stuff can show some surprisingly good musicality (for lack of a better term). I actually prefer his Christmas songs ("The Night Santa Went Crazy" and "Christmas at Ground Zero"), "Since You've Been Gone", and "Everything You Know is Wrong" to a lot of his parody work. To me, Al enjoys what he does and doesn't care who knows it. He takes these songs written by people who do nothing but complain about how bad their lives are, how hard they have to work, and basically take themselves WAY too seriously and turns those songs into parodies that seemingly anyone can do. However, I'd like to see you nay-sayers (A Catholic) that actually think anyone can do it, do it for as long as Al and be as successful as him. Al tweaks the collective nose of the music industry and gets away with it.

Danielson, in 2002 was virtually a student. Danielson, in 2006 is the modern Dory Funk/Harley Race hybrid with a strong dosage of Benoit and Regal sprinkled in. Shit I need to find his recent stuff.
-
I wish Danielson would give the E a chance. What little ROH stuff I've managed to get of the intraweb is pretty nice. The one I've got against Paul London is real nice (clipped in spots though), and the 3 way match against Low Ki and Christopher Daniels did not belong in a high school gym.

2-0 early in the season. Thank GOD for Frank Gore. He's saved my ass both weeks. 22 points this week, 31 last week. Not bad for a fourth round pick. I got stuck playing against Peyton Manning (45 points) this week, but luckily Eli (41) just about cancelled him out. Still took Tony Gonzalez getting only 1 point that the Dallas D falling short by one sack to seal the win.

Too small, too small, too small. /WWE thinking Well, Danielson actually been offered contracts on multiple occasions. I still don't get how Spanky got TWO stints with the company and actually managed modest pushes during each stint. Yeah I know. I've even got one of his televised matches (Hurricane on HEAT IIRC) somewhere on my computer. I just don't see him actually being able to do anything after his initial push due to his smaller stature.
-
Shawn getting cheered (kinda) in Montreal. We have truly hit the end times. Yeah I was waiting on them to turn on Cena too.

Eh, Austin used to wear white boots with black ring attire, IIRC. During his Stunning Steve and Ringmaster days? Man that seems like centuries ago..
-
Hey Lance, you're not supposed to wear white boots after Labor Day ya know. Especially with black ring attire.
-
Well, Canadians and Rednecks bond well. See Owen Hart/Jeff Jarrett. "I'm not a nugget..I'm a Black Hart dammit"...RIP Owen I wish I could find that Jason Sensation segment on Youtube or something. DX as the NOD is one of the all time classics.

This team just makes no fucking sense. Nor does the other team actually. I guess in the WWE that's enough.

HBK's over the topness is actually the only thing I find entertaining about this. I never want to hear about anyone "tossing Big Show's salad" again. EVER.

INDEED!!
