Yeah I actually had that suspiscion when Tommy saw Garrity take the cherry out of Maggie's drink at the party. How would Garrity know she doesn't put fruit in her drinks? But all Tommy did was just grunt and give a little bit of a "Shit" look. Didn't look pissed or anything. It looks like next week he starts torturing Garrity, but in the interests of keeping the house together he'll just end up giving him the "If you hurt her I'll kill you speech". Either that or the "She's batshit insane I'd stay away from her" speech. Yes I know I just did a 180, but that was upon further review and a second viewing.

I tried reading some of the NJO and I kinda just faded after book 3 or 4. The Vong were compelling enough enemies, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the new generation of characters. Call me a traditionalist but Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin all got a big "Ehhh" out of me. Excellent call on I, Jedi LIM. Great job by Stackpole of plausibly tying Corran into the Thrawn trilogy even though he was never mentioned in the original series. Visions and Specter are good too, even though they take place a bit late in the EU. I wouldn't read them until you're well versed in EU lore. -
Unfortunately my DVR messed up and I only recorded the first episode, not the 2nd. So I had to just watch some of the performances on the website (the ones who got cut apparently). Wild Willy seemed funny as was Tig, although her delivery was a bit too derivative of Stephen Wright. I personally can't believe Roz made it. Her "Woo child I've got problems!" schtick seems played. Blue was funny in the tryouts, and I hope Iglesias goes far (although I've heard his "DAYUM!" joke a few times by now as well). The kinda hot one (April?) didn't seem too funny, but hey I have no problem with eye candy. Uh, why is Bill Dwyer on the show? As a contestant? I think the guy's pretty damn funny, but I thought the show was for relatively unknown comedians. I've seen him on TV a lot of times, such as hosting Extreme Dodgeball.

Just caught the replay. Man Tommy fucked his shit up. Over the table, down the street, and through the car window. Haven't seen an asskicking like that on TV in quite a while. Also noticed Janet grabbing her arm when Tommy shoved her onto the car. I can see a lawyer and a very messy divorce hearing in the next couple of episodes. You know Janet's going to bring up her arm in court and claim that Tommy was abusive so he never gets to see the daughters again. I agree K, Janet's pissing me off playing the victim in all this shit, a lot of it her own doing. BTW, Garrity's going to get seriously messed up when Tommy finds out about him and his sister. I'm surprised Garrity wasn't running for the hills while Tommy was knocking the shit out of Johnny.

I never did get the whole Vuffi Raa thing. I never got the Lando compendium so the bits and pieces I've picked up just seemed like a wierd mix of Sci-fi and fantasy. -
Yeah, I want to castrate Miz so he cannot contaminate society with his offspring.

Well, they did mention a while back that any WWE person that wanted to go to ECW could. Maybe they'll have Nunzio be one. And end this dress nonsense and bring back Stamboli. Mamalukes, another tag team on Smackdown, can only improve it. Well, they do have Tony Mamaluke on the ECW roster. Full FBI reunion? Edit: Anyone know where they could dig up Tracy Smothers?
-
I don't know, but it seems like a continuity error that they had Little Guido wrestling on the ECW side in the battle royal last night then they turn around and have Nunzio wrestling Vito on Smackdown. Unless they're allowed to wrestle on their original show until ECW starts up full time, but they didn't even mention it.

I highly recommend the X-Wing series. Two of the Star Wars' best writers (Aaron Allston and Michael Stackpole). Plus it's the introduction of Corran Horn, a fairly important character in the later extended universe. If not X-Wing, go with the Han Solo trilogy. Excellent writing, and does a tremendous job of tying Han's backstory into the movies. -
To be honest, I haven't heard much from them in a while either. Just the whole furor over Coulter reminded me of how they went in my mind from "I'm sorry for their loss and we need to get to the bottom of what happened" to "Jesus these broads are blaming Bush on every network! Shut up for 10 minutes!" As for Berg, the recent capping of Al-Zarqawi has let news outlets get him back on their speed dial, since "experts" seem to agree that he's the one that did the actual beheading of Berg's son. You'd THINK that he'd feel some sense of relief, knowing that this terrorist bastard won't ever behead another innocent. Think again. His political website, bergforcongress.us, cut out most of the vitriol but he has been quoted as saying that Bush is the one responsible for Nick's death (even though as a contractor he went over of his own volition) and apparently on Michael Medved he said that Zarqawi "sort of" killed his son. "Sort of"? I'd be interested to know what his definition of "absolutely" is.

I'm not saying that what Ann thought. I'm pretty sure she meant what she said. It seems awfully uncompromising, but again that's what she gets paid to do: take a hard line and defend it to the death. As for being unfair, that may be. However, where are the other thousands of people who were affected by 9/11 and the War(s)? I don't see Joe Schmoe's wife thinking she should get face time with the President or get consulted on matters of foreign policy just because her husband was killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, or New York. I don't see 99.9% of those affected by the deaths call up TV stations and demand screen time because someone they loved died. I've seen a story of a father who enlisted and volunteered for service in Iraq because his son, who was KIA, believed so strongly that they were doing the right thing in Iraq that the father felt like it was his duty to carry on. You know how I found it? Someone linked to it from the family's local newspaper. He didn't go on TV, beat his chest, and say, "Look at me! Look at what I'm doing! Someone notice my loss!" Sheehan, Berg, and the Girls just (to me, of course) look shabby by comparison, using their pain to seek out attention in an effort to exhort and publicize their personal beliefs. If someone who supported Bush was on TV every day (or even once or twice a week) for weeks or months yelling about how they supported Bush even though their son/daughter/husband/wife died, I'd get sick of their overexposure too. If a Bush supporter used their media attention as an excuse to do outlandish things to garner even more attention (Sheehan) or try to parlay it into a political career (Berg), I'd want to beat them with a rubber hose as well. The fact that I disagree with the above mentioned people's personal beliefs just makes it even more grating to me. BTW, O'Reilly seems to be quickly becoming a fence-straddler, disagreeing with whomever he is currently talking to just to be argumentative. That's starting to get annoying. Pick some core beliefs and stick to them man! Also BTW K, if my cousin (who was in Desert Storm and was apparently involved in several activities he's still not allowed/wants to talk about) had been KIA and I had found out the Army had lied, I would have raised Hell myself. I don't think they're "commies" at all. You're starting to generalize people by political thought. I don't think every Democrat is like the wackos on DU. Don't think every Republican is like Coulter. And I'm not even going to start on the whole immigration thing. Someone somewhere will get upset and/or defensive, and I'm too tired to deal with it.

Good summary. It seemed like after the first inning every time AP looked like he was going to pull it all together he'd give up a couple of hits and get back into trouble. But hey, a win's a win and they're at 3 in a row.

Yeah I've got his last....4 CDs and the "Al In a Box" set. A lot of Al. I actually like his own creations more than his parodies. Christmas at Ground Zero and Spend One More Minute especially. However, I will give special note to The Saga Begins, since it's based on my favorite song ever. As for videos, I'll go with All About the Pentiums. Drew Carrey = winner. Good work on the lyrics lovecraft, but don't forget the Ben Folds piano solo before the 3rd verse.

Oh yeah, the Han Solo series is a definite must buy. One of the few reasons I was glad to still be working in a bookstore. Overstock = free books! That's how I got in the Game of Thrones series. God I hope the next one comes out soon. -
I think that most of these people, both liberal and conservative, are nothing more than windbags who stir up shit on the opposing side. I just happen to agree more with Coulter, Hannity, Malkin, etc. on some issues. Do I agree with everything they say? By no means. P.S. I don't think the wives are revelling in the deaths of their family members. I think they're revelling in the ATTENTION it's getting them. Much like Cindy Sheehan and Michael Berg.
-
No, just an observer of trends. More often than not when one side publicly disagrees with another that side resorts to ad hominem attacks. I know I forgot "Stalinist" (a new one I must admit) but being a bloodthirsty Bible thumper seems to be the popular characterization for conservatives.
-
Now, I know since I dare be a conservative I'm going to be labeled a "Jesus freak", "war monger" or something similar by the more liberal members of the board, but I saw this and figured someone should respond. You REALLY think that the "mainstream media" is legitimizing Coulter while marginalizing the left? Really? How come NBC anchor Brian Williams said "just when you think that it seems that there are no limits on anything, someone comes along and makes a comment that goes over the line – the line that is shared by just about everybody because some things are, it turns out, still sacred.” regarding Coulter's attack on the so-called "Jersey Girls"? Yeah, that really sounds like he's legitimizing her. Also on NBC, David Taibbi claimed that Coulter was attacking ALL the 9/11 windows, not just those 4, while David Gergen decried the "ugliness" of Coulter's charge. The reason why conservatives are allowed on air is because they'll inspire debate. Look at what happens when someone like Coulter or Malkin gets onto one of the alphabet networks. What happens? The host usually nearly goes ballistic and/or bursts a blood vessel. That's good TV. It brings in viewers. If you put a liberal pundit on, all you'll get is people like Maher, Olberman, Rather, and Jennings fawning over them and celebrating their genius (see Michael Moore, Al Franken, Al, Gore, Ward Churchill, Cindy Sheehan). If anything, the alphabet networks are liberal. CNN was founded by a guy who thinks that all organized religions are for "Jesus freaks". Mary Mapes was in charge at CBS until she got caught letting her hatred of GWB overrule her need to fact check. On MSNBC, Keith Olberman does everything but froth at the mouth and start shaking whenever you mention the name "O'Reilly". Mike Wallace has already said that he would allow American troops to be killed if it meant he got a story (you can read about that one here). Really, though, it all comes down to ratings. They know that a conservative talking head 'debating' with a liberal talking head will bring in viewers who want to see the train wreck. Really though, most of the TV personalities regardless of political orientation are scumbags I wouldn't trust if they said the sun was hot.
