I'm just waiting for Big Vis to start propositioning and stalking all the skanks hogging up airtime during Diva II. Oughta make it at least somewhat entertaining, asumming we're not all sick of the gimmick by then.

"What was the fight about?" "Oh I forgot our anniversary. Boy I'm never going to do THAT again!" ".........." "But..*stopped in mid-sentence*" "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "THERE it is."

-According to an interview Lucas did with....IGN I think, he says that the Emperor continued to use clones as long as they were available. However, as the clones began to die off he replaced them with 'actual' people because it was cheaper to train people to be stormtroopers than it was to clone and grow them. Apparently Basic Marksmanship was not part of the training for the new recruits though. -I always thought Vader was able to sense Luke because of the family connection. The paternal connection bonded them closer through the Force. -The guys in red? His royal guards. Apparently they are all kinds of bad ass. Too bad we never get to see them actually fight. I don't know if that's who you meant, I'll have to roll back through my copy of ROTJ to see if there's anyone else that fits the bill. -

Sorry but I'm a bit late to the conversation here. Are we referring to the Chosen One as in, "will bring balance to the Force"? I always thought that the Jedi didn't think through the literal meaning of the prophecy, and trained Anakin out of some misguided belief that he would lead a Golden Age of the Jedi. Instead he becoming the manifestation of the literal meaning by killing all but two of the Jedi (Yoda and Obi-Won) while leaving two Sith (Vader and Sidious). Hence, dark and light are balanced. Actually, looking back to the last page, I see BlackFlagg had the same idea. Damn I thought I would be the only one to not read too much into Lucas' writing. P.S. Dammit! I forgot to DVR the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network! I suppose I'll have to try to download them all now. -

I ordered my tickets on Fandango first day they were up and picked them up about a week ago. Just bring the card you charge the tickets to. They run your card through the reader and the tickets print up. Took me like a minute since I went in the morning when nothing was going on. -

Ok, here he is: For however long this picture manages to stay up, anyway. He was in Mos Eisley Cantina, and threatened Luke at the bar. Known to have "The death sentence on 12 systems". Tried to pick a fight with a nerf herder, but he and his friend (the Aqualish Ponda Baba) found out that some people bring lightsabers to a bar fight. -

Well, the leader of the Trade Federation is Nute Gunray. I'm not saying Lucas intended ROS to be anti-Bush. I'm just saying that you could make the case for that if you wanted to push it. -

Reading the book, I actually got a hint of it myself. The thing is, Palpatine uses war and the threat of war to grant himself more power. He makes the Senate and people so scared of war and the Separatists that they think nothing of having planetary governors and large forces of clone troops stationed on their planets for "peacekeeping reasons". In the book, there's even a scene where Palpatine is declaring the beginning of the Empire and he says it's in the interests of "safety, security, justice, and peace". He even gets the Senate to voluntarily give over absolute power to him. Gee, kinda sounds like a worst case scenario of Bush and the Homeland Defense Act, doesn't it? If this carries over to the movie, and it sounds like it does in some way, I won't be too thrilled. I've grown used to it though, since seemingly everything coming out of Hollywood has to go on about how evil Bush and Republicans are. -
A friend and I started Ep. III at about 11 PM. By 4 AM we got to Anakin doing nasty things in the Jedi Temple. We jsut watched the opening cinematic with Serra before we decided we had had enough for the night. Fun game, although the lock on could be better. I hate aiming at a guy ahead of me 20 ft. away when there's a Destroyer right behind me shooting me in the back.

It would be nice if Yao could do ANYTHING on the court, legal or illegal, without being whistled for a foul. I mean after all, Dirk wouldn't foul out if he was given an automatic weapon. But since he doesn't guard anyone anyway, I guess it's a moot point.

Eh, the wrestling/Star Wars comparisons are just a way to compare the fights using a common reference. It's not meant to be taken too seriously. -

I gotta say, the lack of love for the Yoda/Tyranus fight is surprising. Sure it's a spotfest, but it's a spotfest between two older guys who can still go given the opportunity. I can imagine the booker (Lucas) rolling them out there and saying, "Just go out and give the crowds a show!" Shoot, the Raven and Richards/Pitbulls match was nothing but a brawl with some highspots, and a lot of people say it's one of the best matches in ECW history. You just gotta play to your workers' strengths. Yeah the ROJ and ESB fights were classics, but I love the 3 Stages of Hell Darth Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui Gon match. A bit of a switch with two faces going against one heel, but they play it out well with Maul managing to separate them and jobbing Qui Gon out early. Hey starvenger, don't knock Boba escaping the Sarlacc. Sure it dragged on WAYYY too long (Fett's cool, but he's not the sort of a guy who can carry a fight) but the dude did something NO ONE, not even a Jedi, was able to do. He shot on the big guy and took him out with some sneaky heel tactics. As for ROS, I'm hoping for the best. My discussion of the card is a bit scattershot. I'll play it safe and go into spoiler mode now. I'm reading the adaptation now, and Tyranus getting jobbed out to Anakin seems to be the right decision. Ty had delusions of rising out of the middlecard, and he just doesn't have the drawing power. Shoulda known his place. Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. General Grievous - I really hope Grievous doesn't go Ultimate Warrior on us and get blown up 30 seconds in. I mean c'mon, he collects the lightsabers of Jedis he's killed! He oughta be able to pace himself. Plus, he's got his stable of MagnaDroids, droidekas, and destroyers on his side. That should count for something. Anakin (w/ stable) vs Jedi Temple w/o Obi, Yoda, or Mace - C'mon. Glorified squash at best. Anything more than 1:30 is stretching it. Mace Windu vs. Palpatine - Mace is a good guy and all, but his Force Power of "seeing" the Force isn't going to help him against Palpatine. Mace and the jobbers are going to get flattened, especially when Anakin finishes his heel turn. Yoda vs. Palpatine (Steel Cage Senate Chamber fight) - Should be fun with two old guys who know all the tricks going at it with plenty of foriegn objects and room to manuver. Hopefully given time to develop. MAIN EVENT: Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Anakin Skywalker (Inferno Match) - Gimmick match, but you have to justify Anakin going Kane on us and donning the mask. One of those matches where you basically know how it's going to end, but you want to see the show anyway to see how they're going to play it out. Give it 10-15 minutes if you can. Both guys can work a match, although Kenobi might have to carry Anakin through the middle where the still freshly turned Anakin may have trouble playing the dominant heel. All in all, it has the potential to be a great show. Good undercard, a helluva lot of buildup, and a potential MOTY in the Main Event. Here's hoping Lucas doesn't screw it up. Given the approval it got from the ultimate Star Wars fanboy Kevin Smith however, I'm cautiously optomistic. -
I always thought Quistis should have been the heroine. Smart, not completely useless (like Rinoa and her little dog, too!) and still hot in the "librarian" sort of way.

I loveed watching that shoe when it was on, even though NBC jumped it around the lineup more than Sam Beckett. Yeah the "famous people" ones weren't as good for some reason (like Elvis). Although the thought of "Jailhouse Rock" (IIRC) being recorded by Tony Orlando & Dawn is fascinating in a car crash sort of way.

"Two man team"? Dude, have you watched the series? Yes, McGrady and Ming have done the most damage in this series, but Mike James, Jon Barry, Bobby Sura, and David Wesley have all helped out on the scoring end at various points in the first two games. Without James, the Rockets have a tough time scoring with Ming being shut down. Without Barry and Sura, the Rockets don't come back from the 8 point deficit late in the 4th in game 2. But, based upon what I've seen on Mav boards, that attitude seems to be pretty prevalent among Maverick fans. BTW, this "shitty" two man team has done a hell of a lot more so far than your "shitty" one and a half man team this series. Finley only get 1/2 a man since he hasn't done anything so far. I'm betting the Mavericks throw everything they've got at the Rockets in the first quarter of game 3. If the Rockets can withstand it (no guarantee, what with their habit of starting REAL slow at home) they'll be in good shape. If the Mavericks get out to a big lead and get their confidence, it's going to get mighty uncomfortable.

Umm.. None of the Romans, Gauls, Britons, or Spaniards that I can recall have a phalanx unit. They depended more on close up combat (with javelin support in the Romans' case). I prefer the phalanx though. Stand people up, then slip your cavalry around the flanks and the fight's over, time to kill everyone waving a white flag.

Well, I just thought I'd say that I've been playing video games since back in the old SNES days and I loved Dragon Warrior when it came out. Played it constantly. As the RPG progressed, I've tried to play a few here and there. Now, with this generation of consoles, I've tried to play mostly RPGs since I always feel cheated if I don't get a ton of play out of a game. Among the RPGs I've played this generation are: Both Summoners Both KOTORs FF X and X-2 Kingdom Hearts A Bard's Tale Xenosaga Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits Dark Cloud 2 all 4 games of the .hack series That's what I can remember off hand at 5 in the morning. I enjoyed all those games. Some, even most, of them would not be considered "classics" or even "very very good", but I saw nothing that would indicate the "death" of the genre. Sure some of them may not have been great, but most offered something different from the others. Anyway, I wouldn't kiss off RPGs just yet. I'll be expecting them when the XBox 360, PS3, and Gamecube 2 come out. P.S. to add to the "Tidus: dick or OK?" I'm on the fence, but leaning towards the "OK" side. Yes he did whine, but I figured he had some reason to (father disappears, left to fend for himself, watches his city destroyed, gets sucked into a foreign land, his girlfriend is about to sacrifice herself, then he finds out HE DOESN'T FREAKIN' EXIST!) He's nowhere near as cool as Auron (which may be almost impossible in the video game world) but at least he wasn't the typical angsty antihero hero like Squall. BTW the fact that you're willing to bitch about a game that you've never played but are willing to deem "substandard" simply because...uhh... you didn't like the commercials? Didn't like Yuna? I don't know why for sure, but it says something. I'm not sure what, but it says something.

Good point C-Bacon. I would've thought it would have been prominently mentioned due to it's huge buildup and subsequent flop (don't get me wrong, I liked some of the episodes. Just didn't do very well). -

The movie parodies were great, and the Punishment Forecast is one of the funniest non sequitors I've ever seen. I could do without the Christian and Republican bashing, but I've learned to accept it as part of what Seth does and laugh it off. -
I've got a gut feeling that the Texans aren't going to take Barron unless A) Merriman, Ware, and Spears are all gone and B) Casserly wins his little pissing contest with Capers. Reports are saying that Capers wants to give Seth Wand another year and if he doesn't work out, work with what's looking to be a deeper OL class next year. Casserly, on the other hand, likes Barron's athletic ability and wants him if he's there and there's no other consensus better choice. As for all that talk about Pace, come on. How many NFL teams wouldn't want to pick him up given the chance? Most of them would give it a shot. Basically, some people are thinking that all this Barron talk is a big smoke screen. I personally don't know, since Casserly and Capers havn't had to hide their favorite choice very much until last year, and even then Dunta started emerging late as the front runner when it looked like DeAngelo Hall would be gone. I'm wary about Barron's perceived lack of work ethic. He sure does look like a beast though.
