    New X2 poster!

OK thanks for the input. I thought Pyro was one of the younger X-Men in training, but we'll see. Now WHERE'S GAMBIT??

    Return of the Jedi

I agree. But I did really enjoy both the Aaron Allston X-Wing books (the Stackpole ones were merely okay) and the Han Solo Trilogy by A. C. Crispin. Both have more of that Star Wars feel to them. I agree with Kahran. I love all the X-Wing books simply because I'm a Wedge mark. Face it, he's a minor (at BEST) character in the movies and he survives the whole thing. Not only that, but a whole fan base has arisen about him. He's like the Rebel Boba Fett (according to the books, Fett DOES survive the Sarlacc BTW). The Thrawn series was excellent, and the early Han Solo series (young Solo) was also great.

What would it take for the United States...

Man. looking through that topic was hilarious. SKBF and Cletus/Ozymandias with their "Well I'm right because I BELIEVE I'm right" method of public debate makes me laugh. I especially like SKBF's plan to put America on the true path of Socialism and Ozy's insistence that Gore won, any and all recounts notwithstanding. As for the question at hand, it would take a huge number of factors working together to bring America down. However, like all great "world" powers of their respective times, America will eventually decline. I just hope it's after I'm planted in the ground with my "Try and Stop Us!" Homer Simpson T-shirt.

    Return of the Jedi

Star Wars (OT) and Jedi specifically are an allegory for the Vietnam War. The Ewoks (Vietnamese) defeat are technicologically superior and larger force, the Empire (United States). Also Darth Vader represents the old man who supports a strong military and the son refuses to fight him and wants peace instead. And the Emporer is Richard Nixon. Well I preface by saying that I tolerated Eqoks, I just had a problem with spending more time focusing on the death of ONE Ewok than they did with all the people killed on BOTH Death Stars. Ok, now that I've gotten my Kevin Smith/Randall smarkism out of the way, I don't get the above comparison. First, the movie was released in 1983. Vietnam may have been in the recent past at the time, but America was starting to move beyond Vietnam by then. Not exactly a topical discussion by ROTJ. Second, I always thought (and had read a couple of times) that Lucas did the whole "far, far away" stuff so he could distance his story from Vietnam. Besides, ANH seems to be a better comparison anyway, with a poorly equipped guerilla force battling a numerically and technologically superior foe. However, they win because they strike where not expected and successfully hit and run a relatively stationary foe.

    Movies That Made you Cry

Man, hate on Ice Pirates all you want, but don't be telling me you got something against Time Bandits. Terry Gilliam is swank (can't wait for Lost in La Mancha) Sorry man I've seen Bandits, Fisher King, and 12 Monkeys and I just don't get it. I want to like them (Monty Python mark) but Terry's movie ideas are just too out there for me. I liked Fear and Loathing as much as the next guy (Depp and Del Toro were just SO damn good) but everything else just got abstract for me. Like in Bandits. When the dwarves and Kevin arrive in the Fortress of Ultimate Darkness (REAL subtle, BTW ) to fight evil and all that crap comes out to fight with them (Robin Hood, the cowboys, all that stuff) I still go "WTF!?" I guess I'm just not on the same wavelength.

    New X2 poster!

OK I'm not a huge X-Man fan (except both the cartoons, loved those things) and I can identify the usual suspects (Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, etc. etc. even Nightcrawler WAAAYYYY in the back) but a couple quick questions. Who's the guy behind Jean (looks to be in a suit rather than an X-Man outfit)? and The commercials seem to insinuate that Deathstrike is working against the X-Men. Why is she with them in the poster? I can assume it's just so they can get Kelly Hu in the poster, but it looks like they're making her out to be one of the good guys. Unless it's all a SHOCKING SWERVE~! Ideas would be welcome. Like I said I don't know the history of the comic so be gentle.

    Gail Kim news

Flock Alexis = hottest thing in wrestling besides Molly and Nidia. Speaking of Alexis, what are the chances of the WWE bringing her in? She has a nice look and is pretty good in the ring. They desperately need to bring in some new blood to help out Women's Division. How many more combinations of Trish, Jazz, and Victoria can we get? I seriously doubt that they would bring her in any time soon. She is still young in the business. She's been in it since 99. I am pretty sure Victoria and Gail Kim both only started wrestling in 2000. Just out of curiosity, how is it that Gail Kim is already a smark darling? Has anybody here seen her wrestle? I saw her live about a year ago when she wrestled under the name La Felina and she seemed like a less sloppy Lita to me. There is also the thing that she is Asian.... Which most smart marks love..... Not that there's anything wrong with that. *thinks back to Full Metal Jacket, then sighs happily* BTW, I've never seen NWA, but based upon the sig pic I would agree that Alexis Laree looks to be quite the nice bit o' eye candy.

Charles Rogers caught with masking agent...

Well, actually the "masking agent" could be nothing more than water. The NFL counts a diluted urine sample as a positive. However, doctors have admitted that urine samples can be diluted simply by drinking large amounts of water. Rogers, of course, is saying that he was encouraged to drink lots of water by doctors during the combine BECAUSE he couldn't work up anything for an earlier urine test. To me, this is rediculous. Putting a guy "on notice" simply because he may have drunk more water than normal and letting it be known that he tested positive, thereby implying that he's a juicer, is almost slander. If he tests positive for a banned subject, than the teams deserve to know what they're getting. In this case, they should let him know that his results were abnormal and that the next one should be pristine. Yes, I know the NFL is covering its bases to keep guys from drinking gallons of water before a piss test so that drugs don't show up. There just oughta be a caveat in the results that say "We didn't find anything, but it doesn't mean there's nothing there." Kind of like a Hans Blix drug report. All that being said, I hope this scares the Lions into taking Newman or someone else and the Texans can grab him at 3. I doubt it though.

The One and Only Velocidential Thread

The Kiss of Death. Palumbo hit Funaki with a backbreaker then held him there while Johnny did a legdrop. Kind of like Demolition's finisher except with a legdrop instead of a kneedrop.

    Sequals thread

Hell YEAH! Treat Williams is the man! Plus in 2 you get a water soaked Claudia Christian and in 4 (actually not called 4, just Failure is not an Option) you get topless Angie Everhart. Always worth the money.

Rando = Nostradamus Man the comparisons are limitless. I'm now convinced that Transformers are the key to the universe and all it's mysteries.

    Movies That Made you Cry

OK I admit it..... Time Bandits and Ice Pirates both made me cry. Oh wait, that's not what you meant. Well, for some reason my heart strings can get tugged often in movies for some reason. I think all mine have been mentioned, but here's the ones that spring to mind. What Dreams May Come (I first saw it right after my dad died, literally like 2 weeks afterwards. Got weepy as hell most of the way through.) Rudy (The dude FINALLY realizes his dream and his dad's there to see it. Plus Rudy's even on the set, standing behind Ned Beatty looking the wrong way most of the time.) Titanic (The pan shot that goes over everyone who died on the ship) Braveheart (ditto the Robert the Bruce speech at the end, gets me every time) A Perfect Storm (When the ship is going down and the crew realizes there's nothing they can do) Most any movie with Amazing Grace (God that song makes me tear up every time) especially bagpipes (see the Star Trek II reference below). The pipes just seem to make the hymn so much more emotional for some reason.

    Transformers PS2 Game Trailer

I really gotta disagree with this. If anything, Megatron = old school NWA Ric Flair. Galvatron, however, fits HHH to a 'T'. *shrug* I'm flexible with it. Just saw Megatron holding down everyone, ruling with an iron fist, etc. etc. I can see Galvatron though. Usurper, Megatron-lite, kinda whiny etc. etc. Plus, Unicron created him (see my Vince/Unicron comparison for that one). IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!! BTW, what do they consider Generation 1? Everything before the movie or everything from the first show? Then we get into Headmasters, Targetmasters, and the Superbots. That's going to play hell on disk space. I'm guessing just a selection of the originals with a few post-movie ones making the cut.

My PS2 will not play disc's with a purple back...

[Thinner Gypsy]Disc Read Errrrrrrrorrrrrrrrr[/Thinner Gypsy] Ugh, if you haven't see the movie, then you have NO idea, heh. Bwahahahahahahahaha! [Gypsy]You bad for trying to put whammy on other PS2 owners, White Man from Town[/Gypsy]. Actually, my PS2 isn't reading half my DVD's nowadays. Still plays games fine, just had trouble with movies. I got it first day and only other problem I've had with it is a broken cooling fan after about 3 months that Sony fixed for free, so I consider myself lucky.
  17. C'mon Kotzen I KNOW you've got some Kylie as Cammy shots somewhere. Mercifully the only time I saw it was on HBO or something like 7 years ago. The thought of Kylie in a beret, ponytail and hot pants makes me feel funny in a good way.

    Pirates of the Caribbean

Just by the by that Geena Davis movie was Cutthroat Island with Matthew Modine and Frank Langella. Yeah after trying to watch that I was convinced that all the careers in question were dead and buried. Poor Renny hasn't really recovered since, although he had a couple decent underrated movies with Long Kiss Goodnight and Deep Blue Sea. After Island and Driven I'm surprised Renny has gotten financing to make a home movie.

    Pirates of the Caribbean

I haven't seen all of the new trailer yet, but I was pretty psyched for it when I saw the little teaser and saw that Geoffrey f'n Rush is in it along with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp (master of the strange role). Should be good.

Missiles with chemical warheads found in Iraq

Oh sure. The military is going to carry around some chemical and biological weaponry -- INTO A WAR ZONE --- so they can plant it. Yeah, THAT's plausible. -=Mike That's what I've been saying to asshats who come up with this. In the midst of something like 600 US and international reporters we are going to come up with some chemical or biological weapons, transport them to Iraq, carry them into a war zone (face it, we control most of Iraq but fire fights are still prevalent in quite a few places), plant them somewhere, them "find" them..... ALL WITHOUT ANYONE SEEING US AND REPORTING ON IT! Come on, you don't think some Iraqi civilian or embedded reporter would see some special forces group and some heavy equipment (you aren't going to be burying 55 gallon drums with shovels, you need earth movers and bulldozers) with a bunch of huge drums and not tell someone? Please! All these Oliver Stone wannabes don't want to give GWB or the military any credit for anything, but simply want to be naysayers because they don't like him personally.

    Saddam and sons

Hmm, 4 bunker busters (total weight, 8000 lbs.) hitting, burrowing into, and then exploding a reinforced concrete bunker equals a LOT of explosion contained in a VERY small area equals deep-fried, flash baked dictator and family. If he was in there (and apparently we had satellite and human intelligence that confirmed he was) then we oughta be getting our invitation to the White House keg party any day now. Damn there's like nothing left of the area that got hit. Just a hole about 15 feet deep and shit everywhere. Edit: Dayum I just got a better perspective on the hole and it's actually closer to about 50-60 feet. Those mothers did a number on whatever the hell it hit.
  22. Fred Phelps is a boil on the anal cavity of humankind. His one note "message" of hate and persecution is completely antithetical to the Bible's message (at least NT, Old Testament gave meaning to the term "Wrath of God"). I'm glad I don't live in Pittsburgh, because I'm tempted to meet him at the memorial service and stop his face into something resembling Chunk from the Goonies, all the while screaming "God doesn't hate fags! He hates YOU!" Yes I know that's somewhat hypocritical of me based upon what I typed above, but I've had the misfortune of coming across his little screeds, and every time I feel the need to scrub my eyeballs clean with a Brillo pad afterwards. He's a hatemonger and a bad face to Christianity, and deserves to get stomped into oblivion.

    The Fenchies?

Grenier was the evil French ref, if memory serves. Dupree sounds familiar, but can't quite place how. God I hope they've got some talent, 'cause there's going to be a whole lotta sqashing going on with them and I'd like it to at least LOOK good.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker...

Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME, Princess! Man I laughed every time he said that. I always wondered what it would be like if Link was a smartass in the games. "What, I gotta go rescue Zelda AGAIN? Man, is she hanging out at biker bars or something?" Or, better yet, Link voiced by Bruce Campbell. Oh man, I think I just soiled myself thinking about it.

Favorite moves not seen on WWE/F TV

Miracle Exstacy Bomb. Only seen it one time and that was on my ECW "Barely Legal" DVD where TAKA/Togo/Mens Teioh went up against Gran Naniwa/Great Sasuke/Masato Yakushiki. Excellent match, crazy shit going on all over the place. IIRC, Teioh did it to Yakushiki (who got murdered most of the match). Looking at it, all I could say was "Imagine if someone over 6 feet tall had that move!" Other than that, I agree with the Vertebreaker, Jericho's repeated powerbomb, and the Crucifix Bomb. Plus, I want to see the Code Red more often (if that's the move Rey did on Noble a few months back, with the spinning sunset flip). I never get to see ROH, TNA, or any of that stuff so I never saw The Amazing Red do it. Damn that move looks sweet.
