OK on a related (kinda) topic, part 2 of season 2 comes out (last time I saw) on DVD April 20. Mark your calendars! Now then, this is an interesting subject. Relating wrestlers to Transformers. We've got: Optimus Prime = Hulk Hogan Starscream = Jericho Megatron = HHH (for lack of a better comparison) Any other ideas? Maybe Blaster = Booker T (racial stereotypes aside, they both came on to the scene relatively late and got pushes that ended up going nowhere) Rock = Punch/Counterpunch (can play heel or face equally well. Place on the card doesn't match though) Undertaker = Grimlock (doesn't move very well, doesn't sell at all, but kicks everyone's ass all over the place) Ric Flair = Kup or Ironhide (both old guys that just tried to do what they can to help out) Jeff Hardy = Hmm...kind of a mix of Blurr and Arcee (hitting below the belt RULES!) For cliques you can have: NWO = Constructicons/Devastator (the original, steamrolled everything, then started jobbing to everyone) any Lucha or Puro stable ever given any play in America = Stunticons and Arielbots (brought in but never really given much attention) Finally, there is: Vince McMahon = Unicron (eats everything in the universe without seeing that it would lead to his own destruction. Plus, knows what his vulnerabilities are but can't do shit about them). Any other ideas? Man I can't believe I actually used brain cells to come up with this.

First, yes no dolph makes Conspiracy an angry boy. Second, Thomas seems too look the part pretty well. I don't know if he can ACT the part though. Granted my view is somewhat colored by seeing him in the utter pile of excrement that was "The Sweetest Thing" but he was damn good as Mickey Mantle in 61* and as the hero in Deep Blue Sea. Here's hoping.

My friends and I noticed it too. First the promo w/ Coach where he said something to the effect that if he beat Austin he would have accomplished everything in his wrestling career, then kind of looked pensive and trailed off. The the match, where he threw out the elbow pads (face Rocky) rather than flipping the crowd off (heel Rocky) for the People's Elbow. After the match, he spent quite some time talking to Austin before going to all 4 corners, kissing his family, and walking off. Then it looked like he was tearing up and trying to wipe it away. All in all it almost sounds like Rock's either A) Going to be gone for a while again soon or B) Retiring (hence the "accomplished everything in my career" line. Just a thought.

Dude, did Jho get his degree from the Tiajuana School of Miedicine or something? Get a second opinion, fine, but Kurt shouldn't risk paralysis or worse just because he wants to get back in the ring quickly. Dr. Youngblood is one of if not the best in the business and his disgnosis shouldn't be taken lightly. I hope Kurt does get more opinions on the matter and makes an INFORMED choice, not one based on the disgnosis he likes best. If it means taking months off (maybe not the whole year, but still a substantial amount of time) but Kurt comes back healthy, it's all good. Not like the fans are likely to forget him. Rest up, do what needs to be done, and get healthy.

After watching the move and replays ad nauseam I've gotta agree with mick. First, Angle was WAY to damn far away. 2/3 of the way across the ring on a move that few can do correctly in the first place is too damn far. Brock could've pulled Kurt closer in after the F5. Then maybe Brock would have worried more about height than distance on his jump. Second, it looks to me as well that just as Brock gets set to jump he gets second thoughts, but realizes that it's too late to pull back. Like mick said, it almost looked like a double clutch that didn't quite stop him. That threw off his timing (late on the rotation) and looked like it damn near could've been a candidate for one of those stupid Faces of Death videos. It was an awsome visual and I really do hope that Brock pulls it out again sometime, but I also hope they plan it out a bit better.

Nah, North Korea is next, although that's going to be fought among the diplomats (THAT'S going to be interesting). Watching guys in 3 piece suits pimp slap each other while muttering about WMDs and "grave differences" oughta be a show.

your WWE SMACKDOWN WORKRATE REPORT- 3/27/2003!

OK Deano I've been a big supporter of you since I've subscribed to this here board but as an ex-HamPden-Sydney (until I figured my 19k a year would be better of spent elsewhere) football player (still better than frat boy, but c'mon) I would like a retraction of that statement. At least change it to "Washington & Lee" (more effeminate) or Emory and Henry (rednecks on parade). Besides, I subscribe to Maxim AND Stuff and bong real beer, thank you very much. -
Well after watching him, well let's be generous and call it "move" around the ring tonight and seeing the rest of the "talent" in the ring with him, I'm getting a serious Kane/'Taker vs. Kronik feel to this. The only hope we have is that the ring collapses and injures them all.

Got a kick out of an IRANIAN vessel intercepting an Iraqi speedboat packed full of explosives that was apparently looking for a Coalition vessel to ram. I guess they're going to try to get off the "Axis of Evil" list.

Will Soundwave and Blaster be able to eject Rumble, Ravage, Frenzy, Laserbeak, et. al.? That would be so damn cool if they would do that, maybe as some sort of special. I'm marking our just thinking about it. Soundwave was always my favorite. He was so damn cool back in the day. Even now.

I just don't know about "Cell-da". You'll be able to be a better judge 'home but I think the "kiddie" graphics are not a step in the right direction. I guess it's distinctive and all, but it seems like Nintendo went back to trying to appeal to the younger player when the average console player is getting older and older. I personally would have preferred a more realistic look, but I'll take what I can get. Apparently it's a tremendous game, so I'm willing to look beyond graphics.

It is about to be shipped by Amazon. Luckily they got to my order before they ran out *snicker*. I'm waited a couple months, I can wait a few more days. I've got a couple games to hold me over.

All this talk of fighting monkeys brought me back to the Family Guy episode with the evil monkey that was stalking Chris. Other than that, the thought of turning Flipper loose to kick some ass makes me laugh.

Popular uprising in Basra against Saddam forces

OK Jobber since an intelligence report hadn't worked it's way up through channels from one national army to another then up that chain of command, then passed along to officials for dissemination quicker than a reporter with a camera, it's a lie? BTW reports are that officials are saying that there are "mixed reports" and "it's a chaotic situation". I would imagine they would want to confirm that it's more than a few dissidents before they commit highly trained troops (yes it's cold, but practical) to doing more than shelling Ba'ath mortar positions and the HQ. Besides, this isn't 1991 and this isn't a war limited by the UN to just liberating Kuwait. Should this in fact be a widespread revolt by Shiites, the British are ready to move in and aid as much as possible. -
Uh oh now Iraq's finished, we've brought in Flipper! Start running up those French made white flags, guys!

Nathan Jones debut this Thursday
Conspiracy_Victim replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Well, they're going to want to emphasize the only things he can bring to the table. That means size and strength. That means throwing some poor cruiser out there. Tajiri? Kind of a tweener/face, don't think so. Noble? Possible, due to the fact that if anyone can drag a halfway watchable match out of Boggo Man, it'd be him. Kendrick? Nah, they're making him out as a sympathetic face. No reason to put him out there against the for-some-reason face Jones. That leaves Shannon. While Shannon's relative inexperience combined with Jones'..well, for lack of a better word, shitiness... could lead to a huge trainwreck, his willingness to get tossed around for the fans' pleasure (see Lesnar, Brock and the hands free over the top B2B suplex) would make Jones look like a monster. So, my vote goes to Shannon followed closely by Noble. Of course now that I write this they're going to throw DeMott or someone like him out there and just have a black hole of shit that will suck the arena into it's swirling vortex, but hey, they're the professionals right? -
So what do you suggest Kotz? Shoot anyone that comes across out path, just in CASE they might ambush us? Then we get the thousands of civilian casualties that Hollywood limo liberals were convinced we'd get as well as forever making our country as worse than the terrorists we are purportedly fighting. These pseudo-terrorist attacks by Fedayeen are nothing more than a desperate enemy seeing what he considers a weakness (our concern for the innocents' well being) and seeking to exploit it. Brilliant? More like cowardly but I guess it's a matter of perspective.

I'm not judging anyone based on the site, I just find it interesting that all these closet political theorist "experts" seem to think that they are better qualified judges of international events than people who have made it a life's study.

OK first of all I'll state for the record that I think Moore is quite possibly the biggest Asshat in American society today (opinion, folks). If he wants to protest the war, fine that's his right as an American citizen. To stand up at an awards ceremony and decry what you see as all the faults in today's society and blame them on those mean old Republicans because of an election that didn't go the way is asinine. To do it while accepting an award for a documentary that had more fiction in it than the society, election, and war you claim have in them, is rediculous. Second, take a look here. It compares the educational background of Bush and several of his cabinet members as compared to the educational level of many of their Hollywood detractors. You'll see that you're not that far off.

OK Cartman I'm going to go ahead and tell myself that I misread your post and you did not just insinuate that American soldiers would be killing Iraqi civilians out of hand if the press was not there. I don't see journalists up close and personal on the Baghdad bombings and do you know how many civilian casualties are being reported by the International Red Cross at the 2 major hospitals in Baghdad? TWO! How many injuries? A total of 34. Our use of precision weapons has shown us to be more concerned with the welfare of Iraqi civilians than Saddam is. And what do the Baath extremists setting up ambushes have to do with embedded journalists? Those guys who open fire after "surrendering" are A) Violating Geneva conventions....again... and B) Declaring themselves as enemy forces and worthy of deserving whatever they get. And those WMD that you're so eager to see? Well Iraqi soldiers are starting to carry around gas masks, as if they're anticipating something (here's a hint, neither the US or the UK use chemcial WMD, only nuclear. And a gas mask ain't going to help that). Also CNN, NBC, CBS, and Fox News are all reporting that there is a good possibility that Republican Guard units are under orders to use chemical weapons once our forces get near Baghdad. So you might just get your wish.

OK let me see if I can dredge up my old high scool lit stuff. Orpheus was a world (as much world as they knew about) famous mythilogical musician. On his wedding day his wife got bitten by an adder and died. Distraught, Orpheus went to the Underworld to either bring her back or stay with her forever. He used his music to charm the ferryman to take him across the River Styx, charmed Cerebrus (3 headed dog that guarded the Underworld) and brought tears to the eyes of Hades and Persephone (king and queen of the Underworld). Hades allowed Orpheus to take his wife's shade back up to Earth as long as he didn't look back at her until they reached the surface. He made it all the way up to the surface, but turned around to look before she reached the surface, losing her forever. He wandered the Earth in anguish until he was murdered by followers of Pan for one reason or another. I don't know why I bothered to relate all this on an Angel thread, but there ya go.

Xenogears is actually part of one of the chapters of Xenosaga. They are supposed to be related distantly.

I'd let George Screwdriver Saddam over, and over, and over again.

I bought it and played about 10-15 hours in, then hopped over for Hack to play it through, seeing as how it was relatively short. What I gleaned through my short time with Saga is that yes, there are some lengthy cutscenes. However, they are supposed to tell a story. This is only chapter 1 of a multipart story. This is supposed to establish everything that comes after it (characters, beliefs, backstory, etc.). You can't progress a story that takes place across a whole galaxy without some cutscenes. The creators know that, unless the series gets cut, they've got a limited number of games to create a huge story. The creates the need for the cutscenes. Were some of the scenes lengthy? Yep. Was I bored? Nope. Because the story was kept moving along and I peronsally enjoyed it. You had conflict and interaction, even among minor characters that didn't make it off the ship you start off on. By the way, you bash someone for defending the game even though they never played it when you're bashing the game and YOU never played it. All you do is point out negative reviews and say "See? I told you so!" Isn't this what you accused "fanboys" of doing?People agree with you, and people disagree with you. If someone wants to buy it, fine, if not oh well they'll find something that's more their cup of tea.

I figured someone would mention that, but it doesn't change the fact that Fertilizer isn't recognized as a damn WMD. Anyway BBC news radio is carrying the story. Spoke to a journo IN THE PENTAGON BRIEFING CENTER. Another journo IN QATAR. Another guy who was A CHEMICAL WEAPONS SPECIALIST AND FORMER UN INSPECTOR. All 3 of these said the same thing. It is a factory, with chemicals. This could mean anything from fertilizer to washing up liquid to shoe polish. The Pentagon say "they are investigating". Qatar says "they are investigating". Those people announcing "HUGE CHEMICAL WEAPONS HOARDE CAPTURED WITH GENERAL IN THE ACT OF FILLING A SCUD MISSILE WARHEAD WITH "TO WASHINGTON, EXPRESS" STENCILLED ON THE SIDE IN ARABIC", need to apply for a job at Fux (it up) News. Geez did you even read my post, or just pick out what you wanted? I said that processing plants can be dual purpose plants, able to create more than just peaceful products. Nuclear plants can create the type of plutonium (-238 I believe it is) that can be used in nuclear weapons along with nuclear power. Plants that create insecticides can, with modifications, be used to create chemical weapons. Shit, that's what the earliest chemical weapons were supposed to be until some sick bastard figured out they they could poison troops with them. I for one would be more than willing to believe that Saddam would camoflage a chemical or biological weapons plant under a more benign auspice. It's all like The Force, it's got a light side and a dark side (woo hoo for a random Star Wars reference). BTW No one's answered a simple question. Why was this plant camoflaged, surrounded by an electric fence, had a substantial security force (at least 30 people) and had 2 generals on site?
