    Astros/Cardinals NLCS thread

Tony La Russa has 2,100 more wins than me, but for the life of me there is NO WAY I walk somebody with a 2-2 count. Have enough faith you can strike Berkman out. Once you do that there's 2 outs os it doesn't matter if Beltran is on third. I thought the Cardinals were very impatient at the plate at bad times, as in the sixth inning, Backe had given up his first hit in a long at-bat to Womack and had just walked Larry Walker, and Albert Pujols hacks away on the first pitch. St. Louis has not lost at home yet, so they still have to be confident, but they better try to jump on whoever is starting Game 6 quick to give Matt Morris a bit of cushion, because lord knows his pitches like landing in the seats.

    Astros/Cardinals NLCS thread

I'll tip my cap to the Astros tonight, good game by Clemens & Lidge, although its good the Cards got Lidge to throw 40 pithces today. Tomorrow should be interesting with Oswalt v. Marquis especially with Marquis HR-filled performance against the Dodgers in the NLDS. Hopefully tthe Cards can attack Oswalt early as it is blatantly obvious that a team has to get to pitchers between starters and Lidge.

This not a argument worth making, According to Some, if you don't win it all you choked and are a failure.

Thank you. And I think Astros-Cards is going to be just as good of a series as Red Sox-Yankees. Will Clemens pitch Game 2? If not, hopefully St. Louis can jump on Houston at Busch Stadium. Although Clemens hasn't been unhittable in the playoffs in the last 2-3 years.

    NFL WEEK 5 Discussion

A few observations going into the MNF game after Week 5: 1. Is Gruden making Johnson his fall guy due to the team's poor start? 2. Is there any way Jim Haselett keeps his job after the year? 3. With Kansas City on the schedule next week is Jacksonville headed for a big slide? 4. Is Ed Reed one of the top 3 Defensive Players in football (as a Bengals fan, I can attest to this in the past two years.) 5. Who will win next week's classic Dolphins-Bills game?

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Gotta agree with everybody else about the ending that was cool. And it can be done after every series. To the Cards, hopefully La Russa can get a rotation where Morris pitches at home and Suppan pitches on the road. Morris is that much of a different pitcher home v. road. And it sounded like after the game that Carpenter is done for the whole post-season. Damn.

Good game by the Cards today. I just saw the rotation lineup today. Frankly, I am not thrilled Matt Morris is starting Game 3. He does not pitch as well on the road. Assume you are winning Game 1 and go high risk/high reward with Morris in Game 2.

    Why do the Cubs suck?

It was never an 8-run lead. Pardon me, 6 or 7 run lead. My journalistic integrity is down the toilet! And Dama, why was your boss pissed, its not like they were on the cover the last 96 years.

    Why do the Cubs suck?

July 20th: Cubs blow an 8 run lead at home, in their last game against the Cards, and lose 11-8. That and the Mets game from last Saturday, were two huge losses that hurt their psyches. This year's Cubs team just never seemed to click on all cylinders at the same time. I agree they have had a good year, they just did not meet the pre-season expectations.

So the Bears lost Grossman for 18 months

Bengals starting LB Nate Webster is also out for the year now with a patella injury. If you think the Bengals could not tackle before, just wait.

Congrats to the Twins and their fans, winning three division titles in a row is impressive, no matter what the division.

    Iggy's New College Football Rankings

That's easy to say, but you can also throw out that if conditions were better (no remnants of a hurricane left), LSU would have won by more. Cal: at Air Force, New Mexico State. Is winning close games against mediocre competition better or worse than blowing out cupcakes? Ohio State has only trailed 4 minutes at the start of the 1st quarter of the first game of the season. I'll take close wins any day of the week, as long as they are wins.

Well its good to see Ohio State jumped one spot, since they beat an undefeated ACC team on the road. Where's your logic on Boise State too?

    Stephen Davis out 2-5 weeks

Agreed. I predicted that by the end of hte year Foster would be the starter, although I thought he would just take the job, not through injury. Foster has a good first opponent to stake his claim as a legitimate starter.

Frank Francisco might sue the fans

Of course his lawyer would not comment on who is targeted for the lawsuit, just throw the papers in the air and see who catches it, just like Frank did.
