I'm not surprised. Like I said on the RAW thread, this RAW was one of the few RAWs in years that I found to be entertaining from start to end. It almost felt like a 97-99 show.
-
Wow. Some idiot there actually said Carlito and the Big Show was better than both Shawn and Kurt. That board is fucking hilarious. Are they really being serious or is this some kind of internet satire or something?
-
And we say WWE writers are bad... The point of doing something like that isn't to have a result, it's to be entertaining. I'm sure Vince could have just came out and said "Eric is fired, ok bye" and it would have had the same result. But that would have sucked. I thought the court stuff was funny. Coach being Eric's defense attorney, Foley coming out with a batman lunchbox, Maria asking for socko, Maria being smart, the Boogeyman (it's so fucking silly and stupid, how can you not laugh), Vince's reaction to the boogeyman, Foley's reaction which was to shove food in his mouth, Vince yelling at Eric to shut up when he was trying to respond to Stephanie, Vince listening to Ashlee Simpson on his ipod, etc.. Whether you thought it was funny or not, you have at least give them credit for trying something different instead of just having a bland format of match, match, promo, match, promo, etc.. like they've been doing on TNN for years. That wasn't ghey. This comment was ghey. "*God I hate divas matches. It's like the opposite of the Smackdown Six: The same six girls going at it in sucky singles/tag matches." Critiquing wrestling in DIVA matches. That's a good one. So the finish was lame because it started an angle that may give Shelton some personality and make people care about him instead of giving him the win in some meaningless tag match.

I too had no idea Dok Hendrix had it in him. I've seen matches of his from the 80s but never a promo.
-
Agreed with all of this. Raw was actually really good tonight. The only low point of the entire show was seeing Mae Young on my TV screen.

I wasn't going to ask, but just have to ... you've been a member for almost 18 months, but only have 34 posts. And one of them is to say how much you hate Christy Hemme (so it's not like you can say you only post in major, important threads). How is it you average 2 posts a month, but manage to waste one on a released diva? /btw, can I reiterate how much I hate the fact that the WWE has conditioned me to call them divas? Maybe he just checks the board once or twice a year or something. That's what I do for some boards. I liked Christy. She's much better looking than Ashley and had a lot of energy, she was fun to watch.

Has anyone ever tried to download a match? You can find the IP address of a video with a program like URLsnooper. There's a few matches I'd want to see, but I'm on 56k.

Best news I've heard in a long time.

Since this is still going, IMO Vince overestimated the intelligence of his audience. (And since this is Vince, that says a lot) It was supposed to be funny because Vince clearly wasn't trying to be racist, he was just trying to make himself sound cool to Cena by using slang. But then Booker comes along and takes it the wrong way. It's like a sitcom where one characters only overhears part of a conversation and completely misunderstands the situation. The sad part is some people here heard the whole conversation and still came to the conclusion that he was trying to be racist.

What about the Bret Hart midget?

I don't know about pinnacle of crudeness but I do have to give the edge in creativity to DX making fun of everyone and everything in a juvenile way than Douglas just being an angry man cursing everyone out. I can see where he's coming from.

I think Stern needs to pay more attention when he reads. I don't remember anything in it about Shane's promos being bad for kids to see. He says Shane couldn't wrestle and got over in ECW just on shock value. Then he says that in DX they also used shock value but didn't stop there. There was a lot of satire in what they said and made fun of the status quo in their promos. "We weren't crude just to be crude."

Meltzer's take on WWE wrestlers' reactions to Guerrero angle

It's not like anything he wrote when he had a website and doesn't sound like anything he would write from the way he talks on TV. -

Saying "Everyone has the power to say no and shame on those guys" kind of rules out Mysterio. When was Hart one of Eddie's best friends? It's either Benoit or Jericho and like everyone else said, it's not Benoit's writing style, the Vincent Kennedy McMahon part has Jericho all over it. -
Hahah, "If sherri saw that someone wasn't selling for me, she would yell, "Throw them out here, Shawn." I'd throw them out and she would kick them with her big old boots and scratch them on their back. They would come rushing back to the ring to be with me where it was safe." That's what Jericho and Christian were missing.

He says in his book that he prefers being a heel.
-
How? Half of his book seems to be him making apologies to people and saying he was wrong in different situations. I'm just reading the part where he apologized to Greg Gagne at WMXX for being cocky while he was in the AWA.

"and there was really only one aspect of my life that I didn't like: school. It wasn't the classes that bothered me or even meeting new kids when I changed schools. It was roll call, and sitting in my seat, dreading the moment my name would be called. With a name like Hickenbottom, it's not hard to figure out why."
-
No one can back that up at all. Beyond saying "Some people were offended! How dare you say it's not offensive! You're not even black!"
-
I am offended what you just wrote in this post. The room is spinning. Now is your post really offensive or am I just being stupid and whiny? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's my best bet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good, then you see where we're coming from when we say the Vince segment wasn't offensive and people are just being fucking stupid.

I am, I thought we settled that.

Except for Paperboy and Double Dragon, those were SNES though.

Once again, if Vince actually called Booker T a nigga as a joke and it only meant something derogatory, those examples would be fine. But the other much more used slang meaning of nigga means friend. You can't say the same thing about the word bitch. Blacks don't use the word to playfully insult each other like your group of women example, it now has a different meaning entirely. Vince was not trying to playfully insult Cena. Does the meaning of a word change if a different race uses it? No it doesn't.
