Last time a title win truly shocked you?
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
DDP winning the title at SS99 was shcoknig. Anyone could have feasibly won, Flair, Sting, Hogan or even guest ref Randy Savage but when DDP won I was in shock. -
Wargames 1996 isn't bad because it had a great storyline going into it and as others said a lot of emotion. And 1997 is one of the best in recent years with the type of brilliantly violent ending of some of the early ones(Hennig giving Flair a concussion by slamming the door on his bloody face). Worst wargames is either 98(Uhhhh Warrior and Hogan) or 95(Hulkamaniacs vs Dungeon of doom)

Here's how I rank'em: Royal Rumble 03/Wrestlemania X7 - ****1/2 each. RR had a slower build with a weak crowd for the first half and two restholds. WM had the shittiest ending possible. Unforgiven 02 - ****1/4 Too short IMO to be better than the others and again the let down was teh ending. Cage match - ***3/4 Pretty good but in a cage match I expect less technical wrestling and mored attempts to escape. Doesn't touch Hart/Hart(best cage match ever). Don't remember JD or Backlash too well.

WWE Best Of Confidential/Rebellion 2002
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to a topic in Television & Film
I picked up: No Mercy(Rock/Jericho!!), Unforgiven(Angle/Austin!!), Summer Slam, Invasion, WWF Action, WWF Rebellion 2001 and Steve Austin: What?! The only other ones I saw but didn't buy was the Hardy Boyz & Undertaker DVD's. And oh yeah The Rock: People's Champ. -
The best IMO, and I think generally too, is Wargames 1992 with: Sting's Squadron: Sting, Nikita, Steamboat, Windham & Rhodes vs Dangerous Alliance: Rick Rude, Stevec Austin, Bobby Eaton, Arn Anderson & Larry Zsbysco Although I haven't seen Wargames 88.

WWE Best Of Confidential/Rebellion 2002

Yup it has Ausitn/Angle and Rebellion has Rock/Jericho from Raw in November. Both get thumbs up from me. -
I don't think it was ever released. MY guess is people taped it off the original airing.

WWE Best Of Confidential/Rebellion 2002

Up here in Canada I just bought 7 WWF DVD's for $6($4.50US) each. Has anyone seen Rebellion 2001? I got it cheap and haven't watched it yet but it has Rock/Austin & Angle Jericho. WWF Action looks decent too with a lot of extra matches. -
I'll go with Jericho(when he tries), follwoed by Rey, Chavo, Edge, Booker(when he tries) and Lesnar/Storm(he has REALLY gotten worse lately).

Austin Disses HHH In The New Raw Magazine
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Hmmmm interesting. If Austin had no problem with Hall how ocme he treated him like shit and NEVER put him over once. Not in promo's, angles, matches anything. But I like Austin andt hey need him so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt(althoguh I wonder who's idea it was to piss on Double A). -
1988 was a USA TV Rumble it was like a PPV except on free TV(like all of NWA's Clash of the Champions). It didn't really well since they were testing the broadcast and it was mainly used to hype Hogan/Andre 2.
-
Hey yo if someone has all that I'm interested as well. I have the HTM/Hogan/Savage stuff but I wnat the Savage/Hart and Savage/Roberts. Cage match too.

The most significant WWF/WWE PPV's of all time
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
1. Wrestlemania 3 - The peak of professional wrestling in the WWF/E in terms of both workrate(Savage/Steamboat) and spectacle(Hogan/Andre). 2. Wrestlemania 10 - Signified the end of the 80's era(4 years too late but whatever) with workers(Bret,HBK,Owen) taking over. 3. IYH16: Canadian Stampede - Sentimental classic and considerig gwhat's happened since really memorable to see Owen ,Pillman and Davey celebrating near the end. 4. Wrestlemania X7 - The end of the Attitude era. 5. Wrestlemania 14 - The begining of the attitude era. And top 2 WCW: 1. Starcade 1997 - 2nd most hyped PPV of all-time(following WM3) and also the PPV which pretty much killed WCW(4 years before their actual death). 2. Slamboree 1994 - The last 'old school' WCW PPV before Hogan's boys took over. IMO SS97 and BATB96 were memorable but just the big events(screwjob,Hogan turn) and not for the actual PPV. Many people would'nt even know at which PPV those two events happened. -
NOD 2.0? Isn't it like 434563476375757.0 by now considering how many tiems they changed that stable.

The Hitman will be on TV...
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to TheOriginalOrangeGoblin's topic in The WWE Folder
Yah WWE's ocming to Toronto in late February and Bischoff will appear as will Shawn Michaels, for the first time. How much ya wanna bet Landsberg'll play Bret's interview for HBK and feed off of it. -
Not at No Way Out but on TSN's Off the Record. From brethart.com: Bret will be interviewed by Michael Landsberg on TSN's Off The Record ! The interview will air nation-wide across Canada in two parts on February 11 & 12, 2003. This is gonna be good! This should be interesting as in his previous OTR appearnces Bret's been candid and never held back unliek others(Heyman). Plus we'll get to see how he looks and what shape he's in after his stroke,
-
Yah I believe it was Dan Kroffat. And that match was better than anything i've ever seen out of RVD not involving Eddie or Lynn.
-
Bret's first shoot is pretty damn good too. RVD's aint too great but there is an AWESOME match from Japan on it. With RVD against I forget who.

Dynamite/Sayama, Flair/Steamboat or Benoit/Angle
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin posted a topic in The WWE Folder
Simple enough. Dynamite & Sayama pretty much invented cruiserweight wrestling and brought Japanese impact moves into North America. Flair & Steamboat, well Flair and Steamboat. Clash of the Champions 6, 2/3 falls. Wrestlewar 1989. What more must be said? Benoit & Angle have redeifned mat wrestling and have, better than anyone ever, combined mat, amateur wrestling and impact maneuvers. So which duo put/puts on the best matches? -
Here's how I'dc rank'em: 1. 1992 2. 1994 3. 1991 4. 1990 5. 2003 6. 1997 7. 2001 8. 2002 9. 1993 10. 1998 11. 2000 12. 1999 13. 1995 I haven't seen 88, 89 or 96.

Dynamite/Sayama, Flair/Steamboat or Benoit/Angle
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to TheOriginalOrangeGoblin's topic in The WWE Folder
Eddy & Malenko match up best of all I think out of them. Another duo who worked amazingly together is Bret Hart & Steve Austin. BTW I always considered the Michaels/Hall matches extremely overrated. -
Hahahahahaha!!! I still remember a classic JR line from 1996 about Farooq and Ahmed: "He's handling the big Johnson"
-
He's right. Earlier this year every new guy was "plucky youngster"(Cena,Orton) or big angry monster(Lesnar,Batista). Atleast they have osmethingf to build off now. BTW don't diss IRS!!

Dynamite/Sayama, Flair/Steamboat or Benoit/Angle
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to TheOriginalOrangeGoblin's topic in The WWE Folder
In terms of mat wrestling in North America, Benoit and Angle have put a much more amatuer style spin on it which had only been used sparingly by Steiner, Steamboat and few others in the big two before Benoit & Angle.
