All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
Sonjay Dutt The final member of Hassan's stable of guys who feel mistreated by America and the Western world, Dutt adds some workrate to a stable that will need it. He will be part of a big 8 man tag pitting many of Hassan's men against Sgt. Slaughter and his team. Dutt is a great bumper, has a lot of flashy moves and is equally effective as a heel or a face although he will be a heel in my company. Les Thornton One of Britain's most famous wrestling exports in the 70's, Thornton was a phenomenal worker and a great shooter. Him and Finlay will feud and will put tough, shoot-like matches that will be different than anything else on my card. I'm very excited for a Finlay/Thornton feud and am happy I was able to grab him. -
I still can't believe how high Warren Moon went and how many guys he went ahead of.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Well I, for one, am not too bothered about managers but more about the venue picking. I'm sure I'm not the only one. So maybe you can do something like certain people get first dibs on managers, certain people on venues. Just an idea. -
Thanks. Mine will be in within the next few days.

Let's Talk About...Battle Royals
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
I love battle royals, always have. There's one from 1992 which I always watched on repeat with Tatanka winning after surviving being in the final 4 with IRS and the Beverly's. That battle royal, I used to always think, started the Bret/Shawn feud since they eliminated each other. -
Hopefully long enough that he can edit in my write-up.

Dr. Wagner Jr. One of lucha libre's biggest and brightest stars, Wagner is a huge boost to my light heavyweight division. He will likely feud with La Parka as they have had some phenomenal matches in the past and will be able to repeat and, possibly, top what they have already done. And now, I'm all caught up. -

I had Putski lined up but paused to ask mellow a question. That sure bit me in the ass. -
I know I missed a pick somewhere in there so I'll just follow the Lethal Weapon blueprint of another movie love which no one else will take but I'm taking early anyway: A Bronx Tale One of my favorite movies and pretty criminally underrated.

What's the big deal about Pineapple Express? I haven't seen one trailer for it.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Tiger Jeet Singh One of the most hated heels of all-time and someone who, on limited wrestling ability, had a hall of fame career. He'll be brought in as part of Hassan's stable and will be the crazy sword weilding heel everyone remembers him as. Jay Youngblood Very popular in his prime (equally over as Steamboat when they teamed) and a great worker, Youngblood will be a great mid-card face for me. He will be a proud Native American and he will be one of many feuding with Hassan's stable. I have one more pick left but I'm waiting until I get a reply from mellow before I make that pick. -

I'm short on time so I'll take one of my 4 right now (the one I don't want to lose). Be back later for the other 3. Stan Stasiak - I'll use him as an old school babyface and mentor to his son. Not sure who he'll feud with yet but it will probably involve a multi-man tag with him teaming with his son. He was a solid worker who was over enough to be given the WWWF world title (even if it was a transition reign) and is a guy known for his brawling and strength, something lacking on my roster. -
Trust me, I'm as shocked as anyone. I wasn't expecting one vote anywhere, let alone the most 1st place votes.

Mine should be in today or tomorrow. -
Fuck I was out of town. I even informed people I'd be out of town to have my picks for me. Is it too late? EDIT: Fuck it, i'll do one up anyway right now. Put it in if you want.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Ok, I'm back from vacation. I'll make my picks soon. -
Ok, back from vacation and only missed 2 picks. Wow. I'm really pissed I missed out on Wilber Marshall but it was a shock he held out as long as he did anyway. My picks: La'Roi Glover, RDT - 6x Pro Bowl - 4x All-Pro (1x 1st Team) - Named 'Man of the Year' several times in hs career on different teams - Currently 37th in sacks but climbing Another defensive stalwart who defined (and still defines consistency). Whereever he has played, he's been a defensive leader and is one of the best lockeroom influences in the league. On the field, he's a punishing a pass rusher who is equally adept at playing the run and will be a force playing alongside Mean Joe. To finish off my defensive line: William Fuller, DE - 4x Pro-Bowl - 4x All-Pro - 21st All-Time in sacks One of the all-time great pass rushers, Fuller was the cornerstone of the Oilers defense in the early 90's and remained dominant in Philly. In his prime he had over 8 sacks in 8 out of 9 consecutive seasons (he had 6.5 in the other) and anchored every defense he played on. With Dwight Freeny on the other end and Glover and Green in the middle, I would gladly take my defensive line to war against any offensive line possible.

Stevie Y is my captain.

I'm gonna be gone for a week so any picks I have, just skip them and I'll make them up when I get back. That cool? -
Ok, I'll send it to you in the next few hours.
-
He was still available?! Fuck!!! I really wanted him but was sure he was taken. Also, I'm going out odf town for the next 10 days, I need someone who can make picks for me. Who can pick for me if I send a list?

Hmmmm... the ones I considered: RHR - A bunch of stuff I can listen to but nothing really essential. Points for the Springsteen and Eric B & Rakim. bps - The best Springsteen album, GnR and Tom Petty score points. A lot of other stuff is listenable and I like the variety. Not enough soul in this list (ie. no R&B, Rap, Soul etc.). Steviekick - Appetite For Destruction, Jay Z & Run DMC I like. Can't stand metal though. Cowboy - Illmatic and Hendrix are essential and a lot more stuff I actually can listen to as opposed to the other lists. Not a lot of variety though. Slim Citrus - Great R&B and soul choices plus the Chronic. Best list so far. No idea who Hikaru Utada is though. Edwin - Snoop, Biggie, Sam Cooke are all essentials and I'm fine with Prince, Radiohead and Dylan. Good list. That makes my top 3: 1. Slim Citrus 2. Edwin 3. "Hail" bps21

Death of the movie star
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Television & Film
Denzel doesn't make blockbusters like Will does but he basically guarantees that a movie won't bomb. Gibson, before he went nuts, was up there (his last starring vehicle to not crack $75 million was The Man Without A Face back in 1993 - an 11 movie streak). Carrey is still up there although his track record is obvious (comedies hit, everything else doesn't). Nicholson has done pretty well lately (6 movies in this decade, 3 cracked $100 million and 1 missed by $5 million). Damon is rising but, so far, he's a tad overrated as a draw. Outside of the Bourne movies (which are to his credit) and the Ocean's movies (which cannot really be credited to any one person), he's only had two movies break $60 million. -
I really liked Dreamgirls and Bowfinger but outside of them, agreed. Although I didn't like Metro that much either.
