Death of the movie star
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to Atticus Chaos's topic in Television & Film
that's not a slight on those two movies...it it? I liked them both but with any other lead, no way in hell either of them grosses anywhere near what they did. -

Will Smith is still a movie star. Considering how much money Pursuit of Happyness and Hitch made, there is no doubt Will Smith can make money in ANYTHING. -

I've almost taken him with about 5 straight picks but I kept passing on him, don't know why. -

You're not the only one. No women's division for me. -
argh, this is annoying. After yet another search, this guy should be available: Cliff Harris, FS - 6x Pro Bowl - 4x All-Pro - 3x 1st Team All-Pro - 1970's All-Decade Team - Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor - Played in 5 Super Bowls Too tired for a write up but he was good and is the last safety I have qeued up so he better stick.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Minoru Tanaka/HEAT - He will compete in his mask as HEAT and be brought in as a "hired gun" of Hassan and Daivari's in their battle against democracy. His combination of shooting ability and technical wrestling will make him a terror in my cruiser division and Hassan will be his mouth piece using HEAT as a silent assassin. 'The Mongolian Stomper'/Archie Gouldie How the hell is he still available? A terrifically intense brawler and one of the best heels of all-time in his Stampede days, I will be using Gouldie in his younger day gimmick of the silent Mongolian Stomper. He will be billed from Mongolia and be another recruit of Hassan's. I'm not sure who I'm feuding him with yet but I'm leaning towards Slaughter since these two would have some phenomenal brawls. -
Since I need to laugh on my island: Coming To America (1988, John Landis) Eddie Murphy's funniest movie (for my money) and, by far, his best attempt at playing multiple characters. He's helped immeasurably by the hilarious Arsenio Hall and John Amos, who nearly steals the show. Probably, my favorite comedy ever.

Argh, I did a search and Emlen didn't come up. Ok after another search, I think this guy is still on the board: Donnie Shell, S - 5x Pro Bowl - 5x All-Pro - 3x First Team All-Pro - 1980's Steelers MVP - 4x Super Bowl Champion Yet another member of the Steel Curtain for my defense, Shell anchored the secondary as the Steelers top safety for nearly 15 years. One of the best safeties ever when it comes to interceptions and coverage, Shell made quarterbacks wary of throwing to him and his punishing hits made him a threat to runners as well. With my defense being anchored by Green and Ham (both longtime teammates of Shell), Shell can excel in a system he is used to. This will mean either he or Houston will have to move to FS and it will probably be Shell.

This makes the 8th consecutive movie for Big Will to gross over $100 million, which has never been done before by anyone.

All-Time NBA Draft (THE RESULTS ARE IN THE FIRST POST)
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin replied to Brett Favre's topic in Sports
I haven't even voted yet but MY bottom 4 will be: 16. Czech 17. naiwf 18. KOAB 19. Precious Roy -
Emlen Tunnell, FS - 9x Pro Bowler - 8x All-Pro - 4x 1st Team All Pro - 2x "Super Bowl" Champion - All-50's Decade Team - 2nd All-Time in INT's/3rd All-Time in INT yards - First African-American player in NY Giants history - Member of the NFL Hall of Fame I'm amazed this guy is still around. I was going to take him last round but decided to wait and it was the right decision. One of the best defensive backs in NFL history, his numbers still stand up decades later while his defensive techniques helped define modern day safety play. In addition to his defensive prowess, he was one of the all-time great return men in history (twice leading the NFL in returns and yards). He'll be great opposite Ken Houston giving me a downright scary secondary. Pat Swilling, ROLB - 5x Pro Bowl - 6x All-Pro - 2x 1st Team All-Pro A member of the Saints famed 'Dome Patrol', Swilling was one of the most menacing linebackers of the early 90's. 6 times he amassed over 10 sacks and only 3 times in his 12 year career did he not get atleast 6 sacks. He will be a force opposite Jack Ham, often being used to pressure the quarterback while Ham focuses more on dropping back into coverage.

Eventhough I'll get two of his guys, I don't think disbanding the team is fair to the people who none of his guys will get to. I think it's too late and it gives us picking at the end a bit of an unfair advantage. Just my take on it. I think we should get a replacement.
-
To coach the Champs Are Here, we select: Pat Quinn He isn't my general manager and I have no rookies on the team so he should do fine.
-
Kris Draper, RW The leader of the best checking line of this generation. With my forwards picked, this makes my lines: Kariya - Nilsson - Bure Zetterberg - Yzerman - Makarov Shutt - Clarke - Hodge Ramsay - Carbonneau - Draper Chelios - Lapointe White - Provonost Reardon - Gonchar Brodeur ???? Coach: ????
-
I'm out for a few days. Can someone pick for me if I send a list?
-
Guy Carbonneau, C One of the best defensive forwards of all-time. Won 3 Selke trophy's, 3 Stanley Cups and missed the playoffs only ONCE in his 20 year career.
-
The Wings are looking like a juggernaut right now. They seriously are paying Hossa about 2 mil les than many other teams are offering, that's a steal. And that is a good trade for the Rangers, although losing Avery will hurt. And having watched Redden (as a Sens fan) his whole career, NY just pissed 40mil down the drain. He can't handle the pressure of New York.

I'm happy the series ended before we got to Lethal Weapon 7 starring Chris Rock and David Spade.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Beverly Brothers - They were better workers than their time in the WWF indicated, they were over as heels and can produce some fun 80's style tag matches with the Killer Bee's. This is what's good about stables in which many different guys teamed to together: Perfect Event (Stasiak & Palumbo) - They will be used as a face team to counter the Beverly Brothers. These guys have a great looks, decent work rate, decent mic skills and can easily get over as heels or, as I will use them, as faces. -
Lethal Weapon (Richard Donner, 1987) - My favorite movie since I was a kid. It would've probably never been selected but I can't risk losing the movie I have rewatched more than any other. Plus the best buddy cop movie and one of the best action movies ever made.

Angle selects: Tomas Holmstrom, RW
-
Since Howie is taken, I'll take: Joe DeLamielleure, G - 6x Pro Bowl - 9x All-Pro - 1973 Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year; 1975 Offensive Lineman of the Year; 1997 Forrest Gregg award as Top Offensive Lineman - First player to block for a 2000yd rusher and 4000yd passer - 1970's All-Decade team - NFL Hall of Fame I've been watching him for rounds wondering how far he'd slip. Him still being available is a steal in my book and I am more than happy to have him join Yary and Upshaw on my O line. DeLamielleure is a proven run blocker (with his blocking OJ twice won the quadruple crown) and a proven pass blocker (BRian Sipe won MVP and passed for 4000yds behind him) and is as tough as nails, missing very few games in his career.

UPDATED: 20. TheOriginalOrangeGoblin QB: Johnny Unitas RB: Franco Harris WR: Chad Johnson TE: John Mackey T: Ron Yary G: Gene Upshaw C: DE: Dwight Freeney, Howie Long DT: Joe Greene LB: Jack Ham CB: Mike Haynes S: Ken Houston K: None P: None Coach: None
-
JORGE GORGEOUS SELECTS: Eric Allen, DB He's away and told me to post his pick.
-
Dwight Freeney, DE - 3x Pro Bowl - 3x All-Pro - Already the Colts all-time sack leader with 60 (only played 6 seasons, including one shortened due to injury) Up until injuries hit him last season, Freeney was dominant enough to earn the biggest contract ever given to a defensive player. Often demanded double-teams and even those could barely contain him, let alone stop him. With him and Mean Joe anchoring it, my front 4 wil be on scary thing. Howie Long, DE - 8x Pro Bowl - 3x First Team All-Pro - 2x Second Team All-Pro - 2x Defensive Lineman of the Year - 1980's All-Decade Team - NFL Hall of Fame Although primarily known as a 3-4 player, I think Long will do fine in my 4-3. With him on one end and Freeney on the other, the speed of my front four is unmatchable. Long was a warrior who could pressure the quarterback and play the run with equal prowess, while being quick enough to drop back and play a tight end if necessary.
