    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

Vince is much worse than Tracy. Tracy, for all his whining, has hit his ceiling talent-wise. He just isn't good enough to be THE guy on a championship team. Vince always was and, possibly, still is. He just never gave a damn enough to live up to how good he was. Biggest waste of talent in NBA history. So I can never see Tracy being on Vince's level.

I like his "It's my fault a few people ordered Heineken but got Budweiser" line. It's funny.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

When's the last time 7 of 8 first round series have been 2-0? Most haven't even been competitive. The two Suns/Spurs games and one of the Raps/Magic games are the only ones that have even been interesting in the last few minutes.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

Habs in 7. Rangers in 6. Red Wings in 6. Sharks in 7. I'm cheering for the Pens and Avs to beat the Rangers and Wings but I don't see it happening.

Murder Incorporated is phenomenal, I can't believe it didn't make the album. 'Gods Son' by Nas, 2002 - With 'Illmatic' gone, I'm choosing what I consider Nas' second best album. His most emotional and personal album and also the one with the least filler (barring 'Illmatic' which has no filler). Great and underrated album.

Idiotic. I think "For You" has more lyrics than the entire Born in the U.S.A. album. I like verbose Bruce. Which albums were taken already? Born To Run, Darkness On The Edge of Town, Nebraska. There has been more Bruce taken than any other artist, by far.

Yes, it wasn't his best album but from the Bruce albums left, it was by far my favorite. Plus it's got a lot of nostalgia value for me which is plays a pretty damn big part in deciding what I want to listen to for eternity.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

Argh, the Raptors frustrated me last night. They were the better team and showed it for about 3/4 of that game but once again they came out insanely flat. If they're not down by over 10 for most of the first half, the Raptors win going away. Ah well, atleast the Magic's 3 point shooting came back to earth and Bosh finally broke out of his playoff funk. I'm still positive for game 3. Plus Kapono has been huge and, if he can keep this up, should be the guy attempting the game winning/tying shots.

It's funny, I never even said the Beatles suck, I only said I like Springsteen a lot better. Somehow that snowballed into this. And Born In The USA is a kick-ass album!

The Beatles are way more influential but I'd much rather listen to a Springsteen album than any Beatles album. I agree with the others in that the covers of their work are much better than their own music.

Fuck the Beatles. Springsteen owns them and their mothers. ok, now how can we take anything you say seriously? Why, cause I think Springsteen is better than the Beatles? I don't think that's far fetched at all. of course you don't. Which makes me right and you wrong. Thank you, good night.

Kinda reminds me of Freddie Mitchell calling out Rodney Harrison in the Super Bowl a few years back and finishing the game with less catches than Harrison had interceptions.

'Born In The USA', Bruce Springsteen - I gotta get some Bruce before it's all taken so might as well go with his biggest album. The poppiest album of his career but also the funnest (with the very strong presence of the E-Street Band, moreso than on any other album of his barring 'Born To Run') to listen to while still retrospective and a slice of small-town life as we've come to expect from Bruce.

    Favorite Build-ups?

    - Hogan/Savage, WM5. One of the best feuds in WWF/E history, there wasn't one misstep. - Hart/Undertaker, Summerslam 1997. The HBK stuff was phenomenal and it led to the greatest video package ever.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

Considering Bosh sat out most of the 2nd half, Ford/Calderon did NOTHING and the Magic shot 3's insanely good in the first half (something that won't happen regularily), the Magic winning by 14 is expected. All those factors going for Orlando will not happen every game. I'm not saying the Raptors are winning the NBA title or having any chance in round 2 but I am confident they will beat Orlando.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

Exactly. I still stand by my prediction of the Raptors winning the series. They came back from a 24 point deficit with Bosh in foul trouble and Ford/Calderon being a combined 4/22. They fell short but they know they can hang with the Magic and, as you said, the Magic cannot shoot that good every game.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall

William Baldwin damn near stole the movie playing 'David Caruso'. Dude was hilarious. Also, Brand was great too. "I was going to listen to your demo but then I just chose to continue living my life."

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

They're not. How often can a team shoot THAT good from the 3pt line? In fact, they just tied an NBA playoff record for 3 pointers in half. When the 3 pointers stopped going in, the Raptors cut a 24 point deficit to 13 in about 5 minutes. EDIT: 5 point game now. Don't count the Raptors out yet.

    TSM NBA H2H: Year 5

Congrats on winning dude. The Champs Are Here must spend the off-season the same way they've spent it the other seasons - wondering 'what if'. Now with a 3rd place finish in a previous year and 2nd place this year, I'm getting due to take the step to victory. By the way, I'm confirming my keepers are Iverson, Redd and Chandler.

    Talk About Power-Pop

"The Way" is awesome. I actually really like Third Eye Blind. They make good singles ('Semi Charmed Life' is a good drug ballad dressed up as a cheerful radio song) and have had a few decent album tracks (I actually like 'Motorcycle Drive-By' and, despite how insanely preachy and sappy it is, 'Slow Motion'). Does the 'The Middle' by Jimmy Eat World qualify? If so, put that for me. So cheerfully catchy and fun to listen to despite the grade 7 self-esteem class lyrics.

Edited picks from the other thread (now including the West): East Picks: Celtics in 5. Pistons in 4. Raptors in 6. Cavs in 7. West Picks: Lakers in 5. Mavericks in 6. Suns in 6. Jazz in 7. Yes, I said Raptors in 6. It's partly bias and partly the fact that I believe Toronto could actually take the series. It all depends on Kapono, Bargnani and Delfino. If the Raptors 3 point game is on, they can use their shooters as screens and open up the floor for Bosh, Ford and Calderon. The Magic have no one who can keep Ford from driving the lane or who can contain Calderon as a shooter and Bosh always plays very well against Howard for whatever reason. I think this is a very winnable series and I was really hoping that Raptors would get the Magic and not the LeBron's. Also, I don't see the playoff-rookie Hornets team getting by the very-hungry and very desperate Mavs. Not with Nowitzki at his best like he has been and Kidd finally picking up his game. It could go either way though.

NBA 2008 - the home stretch

East picks: Celtics in 5. Pistons in 4. Raptors in 6. Cavs in 7. Yes, I said Raptors in 6. It's partly bias and partly the fact that I believe Toronto could actually take the series. He's turned one dimensional David West and, even more one dimensional, Tyson Chandler into premier front-court players. He's rejuvenated a very washed up Peja Stojakovic. He's led a team no one expected to do anything more than scrape into the playoffs to a #2 seed (after holding the #1 seed for a while). His numbers are out of this world. He is the MVP. Coach of the Year - Rick Adelman. No one has done more with less. He has two superstars who can't stay healthy (and both are also maddeningly inconsistent when they are healthy) and a bunch of role players and cast offs to work with and he's got the Rockets in the playoffs fighting for home court. 6th Man - Manu Ginobli. Given the general definition of the 6th man award and how it has been handed out in the past, Ginobli is the only choice. Rooke of the Year - Al Horford. I give more credit to someone who is a major part of a playoff team than someone who scores a lot on a terrible team. Defensive Player of the Year - Kevin Garnett. Same reasons as everyone else. Most Improved Player - Andre Miller. He went from being washed up and trade bait to the driving force behind this season's biggest surprise playoff team. He deserves SOME recognition. All NBA Teams: 1st: C - Dwight Howard F - Kevin Garnett F - LeBron James G - Kobe Bryant G - Chris Paul 2nd: C - Amare Staudemire F - Tim Duncan F - Carlos Boozer G - Manu Ginobli G - Steve Nash 3rd: C - Chris Bosh F - Paul Pierce F - Antawn Jamison G - Deron Williams G - Allen Iverson

    TSM NBA H2H: Year 5

Well looks like it'll be second place although I'm still just close enough that if a lot of my guys have monster games, I can win. Not betting on it though.
