By Dave Meltzer Smackdown delivered a 3.3 rating last night, and that isn't including the Los Angeles market. That's a very good number when you consider big matches with Eddie Guerrero usually do better in Los Angeles than most markets. Note: Smackdown was not shown in L.A. because of Dodger baseball

From wrestlingobserver.com velocity Funaki over Antonio Thomas - short match funaki over big for some reason Bob Holly over John Walters Nunzio over Doug Basham Mark Jindrak over Billy Gunn Rob Van Dam over Akio Smackdown Opening segment has Booker T, Dupree and Kenzo Suzuki aruing over who gets the U.S. title...nothin special. John Cena interruprs and cuts pretty decent promos on on each of them. In my opinion, Cena's promo's are ALOT better when he doesnt rap. Cena leaves and attacks Angle's bodyguard. Angle threatens revengs and a huge surprise. He announces Cena will fight booker, suzuki and dupree in a 3 on 1 match Rey Mysterio & Spike over Chavo & Knoble. Good action, fun match. The dudley boys interfere and help spike. Not sure what the direction of the dudley's is right now. Booker T, Suzuki, Dupree over Cena. Cena eliminates the first two, then Booker T scores the win. Paul London over D-von Dudley. London gets a clean pinfall. Crowd booed him at first but popped for the surprise win. London looked really good in the ring, both athletically and just his presence. We'll see if they can utilize him. Also, having drivin with him during his ROH days i can tell you first hand that he is one of the most entertaining wrestlers you will meet. I'd love to see him get some mic time! Kurt Angle is approached by the divas who complain about their treatment. He fires all of them. JBL over Eddie in a cage match. Say what you will about JBL, but even as harsh a critic as i am i think this has been a well booked fued that has produced some really good matches. This cage could have been the best of all. This was a really good old school style cage match, and the crowd was super hot for eddie. Highlight saw Eddie guerrero deliver a picture perfect frog splash from the top of the cage. Bradshaw somehow kicked out...that didnt make much sense... Match culminated with both men on top of the cage until el gran luchadore appeared and pulled eddie down and delivered an angle slam. JBL Gets the win. Following the match eddie unmasks the luchadore and it is Kurt Angle. Good show. But things are starting to feel more and more like 1995 all over again. Really, with the attendances dropping so low, i think its time to bring the tv tapings back to smaller venues. Worcester memorial auditorium was such a great place, it sat about 3000, and because it was so small with an overhanging balcony the action was so hot.

via cnnsi.com BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) -- NBA basketball star Manu Ginobili and his family will have police protection in his native Argentina after police overheard a kidnapping plan in a phone tap, officials said on Wednesday. Ginobili, 26, just renewed his contract as a guard for the San Antonio Spurs and will earn $52 million for the next six seasons to become Argentina's best paid athlete. "We had certain information from intelligence that there was a threat and we responded, as we do in these cases, by preventing a crime and providing necessary protection," said Leon Arslanian, security secretary for Buenos Aires province. Ginobili married last Saturday and has been on his honeymoon in Argentina's Andes mountain range. Brother Leandro Ginobili told local radio the family knew that sooner or later kidnappers would target the player because of his successful career and lucrative contracts. Last year, Ginobili became the first Argentine to play and win an NBA championship final, making him a national celebrity. In the past few years as economic decline spurred a surge in crime, other Argentina sports stars like soccer players Juan Roman Riquelme and Leonardo Astrada have had family members kidnapped for ransom.

Update on Clippers chase of Kobe. A Trade has been set up to free up money if Kobe agrees to sign. "the Charlotte Observer reported for Wednesday's editions that the Clippers would trade forward Melvin Ely and guard Eddie House to the expansion Bobcats for future second-round draft picks. The end of the moratorium came just two hours after the league released the new salary cap of $43.87 million for the 2004-05 season — an increase of just $30,000 from last season's figure. Bryant is eligible to receive a starting salary equal to 105 percent of his 2003-04 salary of $13.5 million, but the Clippers have only $11.65 million of cap room — unless they indeed trade Ely ($1.7 million) and House ($825,000) to the Bobcats. Clippers vice president Joe Safety said he had "no comment at this time" on the reported deal with Charlotte."

Damn, any shot of Kobe going to the Clippers has hit a snag. The salary cap only went up 30,000. Meaning the Clips cannot offer Kobe a max deal unless they trade one or two players. They only have $11.65 million in cap space while a max offer to Kobe would be about $14.175 million(105% of Kobe's salary from last year).

Lois Lane has been cast, her name is Erica Durance. There is a pic of her on the Kryptonsite website. I think she looks the part. -
Clippers would make money where ever they go because the owner doesn't spend the money the team makes on signing players. Clippers are one of the most profitable teams in the league for that reason. Anyway the request isn't that far fetched since the Clippers played a few games at the Pond the two seasons prior to moving to the Staple Center. They drew big crowds and had a good record in the building.

I was hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having There is this pop-up for infamousbeatz.com that keeps appearing on my computer, the real trouble is that when it appears it automatically closes my Internet Explorer browser. This is frustrating the crap out of me. Strange thing is that it only seems to appear if I visit the IGN Boards. Was just wondering if someone here can tell what the best course of action would be to solve this problem.

It's official NBA GM's have lost their minds Jazz have offered Okur a 6 year 50 million dollar contract. while the Warriors resigned Adonal Foyle to a 41.6 million/5 years contract. The guy averaged less than 4 points and 4 rebounds and only played in 44 games last year. Unbelievable.

ESPN has just reported that Coach K has turned down the Lakers offer. Now the Lakers will be craping in their pants as Kobe visits the Clippers this week.

They will probably get a title shot but get squashed in the process Right now the best tag team on Smackdown is the FBI. Nunzio and Stamboli have been having good matches and getting nice reactions from the crowd. They should be the next tag champs.

By Dave Scherer According to a number of people in various areas of WWE, Vince McMahon was not at tonight’s PPV due a bad internal infection that he is suffering from. He is on some serious medication and thus could not come to the event. He was in touch with his management team all day via phone. In McMahon’s absence, Stephanie and Shane McMahon, Triple H, Jim Ross and Kevin Dunn ran the show. I have heard from a number of people that Stephanie in particular relished the chance to be in the lead role backstage tonight. According to Mike Johnson, the last PPV Vince missed was King Of The Ring 1994 due to neck surgery.
