"Punk is the personal expression of uniqueness that comes from the expierences of growing up in touch with our human ability to reason and ask questions." Thats straight out of the Punk Manifesto by Greg Graffin. And if anyone has the right to define "punk" it is him because he has been heading the philisophical side of the punk movement for about 20 years now. Sure the British and New York era of punk is dead, but the California punk scene is thriving. Any one who says that punk is dead is wrong. It has changed, but there is still a strong punk commuity, espically in Europe and on the west coast. The musical side of punk has really progressed and changed over the years. As for suggesting modern (late 80s and 90s) punk, I would second the previous suggestions of Bad Religion. These guys have led the punk scene for years. Their stuff is more melodic than most older punk so they are often considered progressive punk. Some albums to check out are No Control, Suffer, The Grey Race, the All Ages comp, and The Process of Belief. I would also suggest NOFX. They are another common suggestion but well deserving. Check out Punk in Drublic, The Decline, and So Long and Thanks for all the Shoes. The Decline is widely considered the definitive punk composition of the 90s. Its awesome. Another 90s gem is No Use for a Name's More Betterness! I also second the suggestions of the Descendsnts, the Germs, the Vandals, and Lagwagon

What were the 2 Miller moments? His one man last seconds comeback versus the Knicks and ....?

I don't get all of this "all time" and "current" stuff? Explain the difference. "current" is irrelevant "all time" is what matters And ultimately, is there a difference?

South Park Season 4 Box Set Announced.
moral suasion replied to Skywarp!'s topic in Television & Film
Completely agree. If I were to rank the seasons: 1. Season 5 2. Season 6 3. Season 4 4. Season 7 5. Season 3 6. Season 2 7. Season 1 8. Season 8 (First 5 episodes.) You're not liking season 8? If I were to list them, it would be in the exact same order, except season 8 would be #1. I really don't like the direction the show has gone. Don't get me wrong, I still watch them religiously, and they are still funny, but the quality has gone down. The stories are not told as well. They are less arcing and dramatic. Cartman's character has really degraded. He used to be the antagonist, but I still cared for him, now is just used as a litte evil fuck who is annoying. Yes, he's funny, but he is extremely inconsistant as a character. I have apprecitaed the development of the Cartman vs. Kyle fued but it has not gone anywhere. Its completely stagnant. I also have liked the development of Butters as a main character. What was the point of bringing Kenny back? He does not do anything. He used to be an awesome character, but now never says a word. Unless he does cool things in the future, he should have stayed dead. It would have made the episode where he really died more epic and historical. -

South Park Season 4 Box Set Announced.

I like that episode. The commentary on racism is interesting but the best stuff is the crush between Catman and Wendy. The very last moment of the episode is a very cool character development moment for Cartman. I think it is the only South Park episode that ends on a completely sad note. -

"Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" and "Probably" are the two part episodes. Great, great stuff. The very last moment of "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" is awesome. -

Alkaline Trio/One Man Army BYO Split Album
moral suasion replied to SpikeFayeJettEdBebop's topic in Music
I have it. It is pretty good. The BYO split series rules. Weather or not it creates amazing results, its an awesome concept and helps create a sense of community. -
Big win for the Twins tonight. Joe Mauer gets 2 hits and 2 walks, the ever questioned bullpen puts up 5 scoreless innings, and Shannon Stewart started earning those big dollars by hitting a walk-off homer. Awesome.

I like "The End Is Here" Song they used for Armageddon 2000 and another PPV. Good Stuff

The South Park and Chappelle's Show Thread
moral suasion replied to Angel_Grace_Blue's topic in Television & Film
The South Park episode was very funny but... Over the past 8 episodes or so, I have started to feel that Cartman's character, specifically his feud vs. Kyle, has become stale and shallow. He is just a little bitch now and thats all. -
in regards to NOFX. in regards to Rancid. That is the most backwards thing I have ever heard. What have you heard of NOFX and what have you heard of Rancid that gives you that opinion? Rancid may be more popular because they have the look, but NOFX is a far superior punk band. Rancid used to be great. AND OUT COME THE WOLVES and LETS GO are classics. But thier last 3 albums have bombed. Pure shit. Also, I believe thier last video featured Kelly Osbourne and Good Charolette. Cool. NOFX are arguably the greatest modern punk band of this era. Ever listen to THE DECLINE? PUNK IN DRUBLIC and SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE SHOES are also definative albums in the genre. Compare both bands most recent albums. INDESTRUCTABLE which is pure shit vs THE WAR ON ERRORISM which is genius. Seriously, Tim Armstrong and Lars Fredrickson should kiss the ground Fat Mike walks on. He is a superior musician, lyricist, and person. Moving the topic on, I am suprised that no one has mentioned Bad Religion yet. Greg Graffin is far and away the best lyricist of any punk band ever. Yes, thier sound is more melodic than "punk", but they are THE most influential punk band of the past 20 years. They made every punk band that is playing today. For anyone interested in listening to Bad Religion, check out thier most recent album, THE PROCESS OF BELIEF. Great Stuff.

Does spelling fall under the category of grammAr?
-
Thats one of the greatest Matt Facts ever.

WWE uses crappy grammer all the time. It shouldn't be "the" WWE which everyone on both shows say. You don't say "the" World Wrestling Entertainment. No one ever said "the" WCW.

My favorite Mr. Perfect moment is the promo with Bret Hart before thier KOR 1993 classic in which they argued that "my dad can beat your dad" and Perfect offered a handshake and then took it away. As for the two matchs, the 91 summerslam match rocks, but I perfer the KOR classic.

The show is good. The recent trend in poker shows has turned me into quite an avid poker player. However, I do perfer ESPN's coverage of the World Series of Poker to the World Poker Tour. The commentary is better and the event is more significant. I wish ESPN would release it on DVD.

Only 2 votes for Jeff Buckley! Horrible. He is not very well known these days because he is dead. He is truly one of the best songwriters of the late 20th century. Everyone should check him out. Espically the Grace album.

During a PPV in 2000 Farooq gave Jeff Hardy the sickest dominator ever. Jeff flies around like a ragdoll.

The most tragic omission is the new Bad Religion due in March. This album will be the followup to to agruably thier best album, 2002s The Process of Belief. They had some hits on MTV during the 90s and punk is currently trendy so it surprises me that they did not make the list.
