And just so we're clear, you and I. Such speech outside the confines of the Hardcore Discussion folders is abusive, vulgar, hateful, obscene, and profane. So yes, seems you violated a few of the rule guideline there. You're here until I decide otherwise.
-
You're not banned. You're in the Gulag. So things are looking up for you already.
-
I'm sure the world will mourn the banishment of Noah Fentz to the Gulag. But really now, we're talking about professional wrestling here -- the holier-than-thou attitude doesn't apply.

I think next year, the choices need to be regulated tighter. Well, not everybody's choices. Just Marvin's. The point of this contest is to pick celebrities who will kick the bucket -- it is a Celebrity Death Pool. Al Copeland (The founder of Popeye's Chicken) is NOT a celebrity. Randy Pausch (A college professor who once appeared on ABC World News with Charlie Gibson) is NOT a celebrity. And you took liberties with the others -- Mikey Dread, JR Simplot, etc. This should have been contested before the game started this year but alas, since I don't have a time machine, my hands are tied. But I think I'm proposing for next year that there be some kind of three-person regulatory team to oversee the beginning stages of the pool just so, if anybody contests a selection somebody makes (i.e. Marvin) as not being a celebrity, that committee can make a ruling over whether the person can indeed be considered a celebrity or not. If they vote no, the poster must remove that selection and replace them with someone else. Because this whole "pick some pseudo-nobody who created a fast food restaurant fifty years ago" nonsense has sucked the fun and enjoyment out of the pool this year. This isn't bitterness here because, facing the facts, I only have forty points and it's not like I would be in the lead if Marvin wasn't here. But this whole thing annoys me just a little bit.

Gotta love how Santana gave the bullpen a day off, opening the door for Maine to leave early the next day and overwork the bullpen all over again. It's true. This team needs an arm in the bullpen, even more so than they need an outfielder. They can't afford for Minaya to be complacent here, with the Mets only now half a game ahead of Philly and one game ahead of Florida.
-
So....John Maine might be injured? Spectacular. Just what we need right now.
-
That god damn Jason Marquis.

Coffey's been gone from TSM for a long time. Now we know why.

Now imagine being at that Mets game last night and sitting through those fourteen innings only to watch them screw up opportunities in the 11th, 12th, and 13th. But hey, at least I got to watch Mr. Met run around and throw T-Shirts into the crowd as the team continued to choke into the wee hours of the morning.

I think the whole concept of Applications completely ruined Facebook to the point I don't even go on it anymore. Unfortunately, MySpace has started to go down the same road, although it's not nearly as severe yet.

Rest assured Bruiser, Wagner does not provide much more comfort than Sanchez or Feliciano. I have no doubt we would be saying the same thing if he was available.
-
Christ. This is one of those games that's going to lead to a freefall for the next week or so. Poor Santana. If it's not the lineup neglecting to score when he pitches, it's the bullpen blowing a lead for him in the ninth.
-
This is outrageous. Sanchez comes in to put the first three men on base, then leaves for Smith who promptly gives up a run to make it 5-3. The Mets bullpen strikes again.
-
Back on the board again.

Now here's the thing about a sequel. Warner Bros is obviously going to want one because of how much it took in this weekend alone. But I feel that any movie they make now....no matter whether they use the Riddler, Catwoman, the Penguin, or anybody else...and no matter what celebrity they cast in these roles....will be seen as a disappointment. This movie had so much going for it -- Heath Ledger's brilliant performance, the emotions surrounding his death, the hype of this being his "best role ever" -- that the next sequel just won't have. The next villain will be compared to The Joker in this one and I just can't foresee how anybody will be able to live up to that benchmark. Maybe I'm wrong and the next one will turn out to be bigger and better and more critically acclaimed and make more money, but I think people fell so much in love with this film and the entire situation surrounding it with Ledger that when the next one comes out in three or four years, critics and moviegoers will be saying "Eh, it was good....but not nearly as great as the last one." Keeping that in mind though, they WILL be making a sequel. And if I'm writing the screenplay for the next one, I'm casting Angelina Jolie as Catwoman -- it's like the character was custom-made for her. And Jim Carrey as The Riddler -- he's not the same actor he was in 1994. I think now he can pull off the mysterious, dark side of this character, whereas he could not fifteen years ago. Keep him legitimate and realistic, dress him up in the olive-green suit from the comics, and I think we might have something here.

Ten game winning streak and now tied for first place with Philly. I'm excited. Against all my best judgment.
-
Okay, so Johan Santana giving up five runs to Cincinnati and being taken out after the fourth inning is just....not acceptable. Yeesh.
-
Okay, this is the worst draft of them all.
-
Mole and Bob, how many times have you two argued about the Harry Potter books versus the Harry Potter movies? Yeesh. I would think both of you would get tired of the matter eventually.

CCB, you have to admit...it IS highly suspicious that you're returning three XBoxes in three days. I worked in Circuit City for a year (yeah, jericholic82. firedog!) and I have to tell you, after the second return, we would most certainly not allow you to return the system a third time. Especially when all you need to do is install a system update which is really a routine procedure for anybody using XBox Live. Couple that with your piss-poor attitude once Gamestop decided to bend their policy, including taking it out on the register person and manager who really were not doing anything inflammatory besides exhibiting good judgment, I have to say your post about Gamestop angering you might have actually angered me.

And that video could have used the intros to "Pepper Ann" and "Recess" -- two more shows from my Saturday morning years.
-
Just from the intro theme song, "Sonic Underground" looked like a horrid show. As a kid, I loved both of the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons -- even though I found it weird that they ran a serious version on ABC Saturday Morning yet simultaneously had a more-comedic variation on the WB weekday mornings -- but what the hell is the deal with "Sonic Underground"? They made a vow to find their mother? Christ.

Someone over at the OH parsed the numbers out on the effect the 12 sunday losing streak has had. Take out those 12 loses and the Os are 42-28 which is a .594 winning % which would equal a 49-33 record which would put them in 2nd place 1.5 games behind TB, not counting the fact that 2 of the 12 sunday loses were to TB which if converted to wins would put the Os in first place. What an absolutely ridiculous post. I'm tempted to bring back the Gulag simply to punish you for this.

What can you do with chicken that you can't do with fish? Fish Parmigiana? Fish Marsala? Fish Francese? General Tso's Fish? You can sit around and watch the game with a big platter of buffalo wings. When was the last time you saw someone eating buffalo fins? The list goes on. I like fish as much as the next guy, but chicken is much more versatile, so that would have to be my pick. Although of all seafood, I don't think crab is given nearly enough credit. Good crabmeat is, in my opinion, even better than lobster or steak.
