I know! I could tell right from Edge's face......he's either going to win this match or lose this match!

    Save Wrestlemania

I don't like the idea of Cena/HBK/HHH because it's going to immediately draw comparisons to the HHH/HBK/Benoit match from two years ago....and let's face it, it can never come even close to matching the quality of that one. My first step would be to put the title back on Edge tonight. Keep Rey in his #1 Contender slot. Throughout February, run a mini-tournament on Raw for the #1 Contendership at WrestleMania. Something like: HHH The Big Show John Cena Chris Masters Shawn Michaels Kane Rob Van Dam Carlito Have HHH, Cena, Michaels, and RVD go over. The next week: HHH Cena Michaels RVD Have HHH/Cena fight?? What?! Yeah. just make it a very short match. Five minutes or so. Referee gets knocked out. Hunter uses the sledgehammer. Beats the hell out of Cena, bloodies him, Pedigree on a steel chair. The whole works. Gets the three count and advances. Meanwhile, perhaps have McMahon provide a distraction for Shawn in his match against RVD with Van Dam going over. So then the finals for next week: HHH RVD Have Cena cost Hunter the match as revenge for last week. Rob Van Dam goes over and keeps his momentum strong. So then: WrestleMania 22 World Heavyweight Title Kurt Angle © vs. Rey Misterio WWE Title Edge © vs. Rob Van Dam Triple H vs. John Cena No-Holds-Barred Shawn Michaels vs. Vince McMahon Special Attraction Hulk Hogan vs. Mick Foley U.S. Title Booker T © vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit World Tag Team Titles Kane/The Big Show © vs. Carlito/Chris Masters The Undertaker vs. Mark Henry JBL vs. Bobby Lashley WWE Women's Title Trish Stratus © vs. Mickie James Yeah, not as good as it could be, but better than the shit they're getting ready to hand out.

But if the rumors are correct, Misterio isn't getting the babyface to Mania push anyway. WWE is going to be putting two heels in title chases for their respective brands, which is entirely counterproductive to bringing in high buyrates. And shit, Promoter, you're doing all kinds of drowning in this thread.
  6. I actually don't think Angle/Orton will be a terrible match. It's leaving a bad taste though since Rey is going to be unfairly shunted into a midcard match because of it. And it's a "meh" match in a card filled with them. The main flaw of Mania this year is that there is not single money-drawing match there. Not one. WrestleMania 21 had Batista/HHH and HBK/Angle, at the very least. Plus there was noticeable interest in Orton/Taker, Money in the Bank, and even Cena/JBL. Not to mention Piper's Pit. The card for WrestleMania 21 was very strong, I thought. WrestleMania 22 has absolutely nothing. And Triple H/Cena is going to be terrible. It's funny to see he's criticizing Angle's heel abilities as the reason Cena's getting booed, when Goldberg was getting LOUD boos in his feud with Triple H only two years ago. What happened there?

    Royal Rumble Game 2006

No. I think the understanding was physical interference. We all knew he would provide a distraction.
  8. Can you blame him? He did everything you could have asked him, and even improved ratings, and they give it right back to an enormous bust of a champion to spite the fans. I'd be beside myself as well. Edge really did do anything he could have been expected to. Ratings rose with his title win. His promos were being handled nicely. He was getting a reaction from the crowd. Putting on surprisingly strong matches -- hell, he was willing to dive off the top of the ladder in the middle of the ring through a table outside on the floor. He did everything they could have asked of him. And it was all for nothing. Cena still gets the title back. And Edge gets a midcard slot at WrestleMania. The most distressing part of this story is that Edge didn't know he was losing the title until earlier today. With his title reign going as well as it was -- and assuming there were people in the back complimenting Edge on his job so far -- it had to have been a complete shock to him that this was happening. Edge's career is fucked. And Cena's career is going to be completely ruined very soon too if they keep this up.
  9. Now that I just saw Strummer's post.... Edge vs. Foley? That's going to be fucking terrible.
  10. Speculation now. Since Triple H didn't win the Royal Rumble, this is a big question mark for the Raw side at WrestleMania. If Cena wins tonight....then yeah, it's reasonable to assume he'll face Triple H at WrestleMania for the title. Hunter will find his way in that slot. If Edge wins tonight....then it's a little more interesting. The rumor mill still says it will be HHH/Cena at Mania, and although it's Hunter, it's feasible they could wrestle with no title involved. Which means Edge needs to defend his title against someone. And on the face side of Raw, we have Michaels, who will obviously be involved with Vince. And either Flair or RVD. They did give Van Dam a rather strong showing tonight. Maybe....
  11. Do they really have 14 or 15 guys in the ring right now? EDIT: Posted before PK, who now makes me look like an idiot
  12. Just because his match wasn't the last on the card doesn't mean it wasn't a Main Event. The Triple H/Ric Flair feud was promoted as a Main Event feud. The Triple H/Big Show feud was promoted as a Main Event feud. And Triple H came out on top in both. HHH and Taker are the two guys in the federation that do NOT need to be built up in order to get a high profile title shot. It's assumed they're worthy enough for it anyway. To hear about HHH dominating the Rumble like this so far....to the point of eliminating the two biggest guys in the company at the same time....is ridiculous.
  13. This show sounds awful so far. Cena/Edge and Angle/Henry were weak PPV Title matches as it was....they certainly weren't strong enough to headline the show. And from the sounds of it, this thing has been booked to completely put over Triple H. Eliminating Kane and The Big Show at the same time??

Comments that don't warrant a thread

I thought once Sony released the slimmer version of the PS2, they made it public that they weren't going to fix the old version anymore. Maybe I got something wrong here then. So if you get a Disc Read Error on your PS2, Sony HAS to fix it, as long as you're annoying enough with the phone calls?

After getting my PS2 on the Christmas of 2001, and taking decent care of it for the next four years, it has finally broken down on me as of this morning. It's quite the coincidence though. I've managed to keep it working fine for years. Despite the fact that I've had things fall on top of it, lugged it for hours in a backpack, seen controllers bounced off it....it still survived. I let my roommate borrow it two nights ago to watch a movie. Suddenly, the next time I try to use it, I get a Disc Read error. And yet he swears up and down he didn't drop it or anything. I can't see buying a new PS2 at this point. It's not worth it.

WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily

Your analogy is flawed because Show was never meant to be more than a transitional champion to get the belt off of Brock and onto Angle so Brock could win it back at WM19. 1) I think you missed the point of what I was saying. 2) That doesn't change the fact that the Big Show's title reign in 2002 was collectively shit on by the fans. They didn't buy it because, despite the guy's size, he still wasn't a credible champion. Mark Henry would have the same problem.

WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily

No, that's terrible. You never put the title on a guy with the hope that you can build him up AFTER he wins the Championship. Mark Henry is not a threat -- he's a guy that's only been back in WWE for a month and a guy that we have all seen fail miserably several times before. This is like when The Big Show won the title off Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2002. Show was losing matches to Jeff Hardy only months earlier, and simply no one in the crowd bought him beating Brock for the title. Hence, he jobbed it off rather quickly to Angle next month. That title switch failed and you can be rest assured, it would fail again if they handed it off to Mark Henry. Mark would not be a credible champion and, honestly, I don't know if WWE can even turn him into someone close to that level before his contract ends. If you hand the title off to Mark Henry, you are severely damaging the credibility of the championship. It's as simple as that. You do not reward someone who not only lacks fan interest but is hardly even considered a threat, and hope that it will simply work out for the best. Besides, Rey/Henry has already been done TWICE already in two consecutive weeks. We simply don't need to see that match so soon at WrestleMania again. I'm still not sure in what direction Vince is planning to go yet but if Mark Henry is involved, he's in trouble.

Guys, you all realize this is a gimmick poster, right?
  21. I do think Van Dam has a chance of winning the Royal Rumble, only for the fact that they have hyped up his return in the match for the last month. Even if he doesn't win, I do see him in the ring as one of the last few people. But yeah, the most realistic options are Triple H, Rey, and Orton.

    2005-06 MLB Offseason Thread

Right-hander Kris Benson was traded by the New York Mets to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for relief pitcher Jorge Julio and a prospect, MLB.com reported Saturday. Benson was such a subject of past trade rumors that his wife, model Anna Benson, became critical of the Mets and one of the team's offseason acquisitions, Carlos Delgado. Anna Benson sounded off on the Mets for attempting to trade the right-hander in part because of her negotiations to pose nude for Playboy, according to a report on the New York Daily News' Web site in December. "We would never, ever have signed with New York if they had said they were going to trade us," Anna Benson told the paper at the time. "I was Miss [Politically Correct] for the Mets the entire time I was there. "I have no deal with Playboy," she added. Before the 2005 season began, the Mets signed Kris Benson to a three-year, $22.5 million deal after acquiring him from the Pirates in July 2004. Last season, Benson was 10-8 with a 4.13 earned-run average in 174 1/3 innings pitched. Julio made 67 appearances in 2005 for Baltimore, with a 5.90 ERA in 71 2/3 innings. Credit: ESPN.com
