Guys, if I don't manage to get anything in this week, I apologize ahead of time. With this being the last week of classes and all, I've been absolutely SWAMPED with work. Since Saturday, I've had to read a 250 book, write four 5-page papers, prepare a Final Presentation for Poli Sci, catch up on 15 journals I ignored from the beginning of the term, and so on. I promise I'll be back to devote my full attention to the fed next week. I've just barely had any time to think freely this week -- let alone write a segment for the show. Again, apologies. ..... AND VOTE DREK STONE FOR OAOAST SUPERSTAR OF THE YEAR~! /end plug.

i will never buy joaquin as johnny cash. ever. Well, a year ago, would you have bought Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles? I'm not a big fan of Joaquin Pheonix, but he may be able to do something good with this role.

Yeesh. The day after Christmas? I don't see that working out too well.......
-
I don't know.... Is anyone really supposed to be intimidated by a guy wearing bright red suspenders?
-
I love how Ryan Reeves tried to pull a swerve, and it wound up failing horribly. He should have won the competiton for that alone. And I hope we do get to see Daniel Puder vs. Mike Mizanin at Armageddon in that shootfight. Presuming it actually is real, Puder should wipe the floor with Mike -- and that's pretty much something many have been waiting for since the days of the Real World.

Nice headshot. Thanks!

I feel better now. *BELTSHOT!!!* OMG!!!
-
That's mean. I don't even have the strength to beltshot you anymore....
-
I sense some hostility here. Don't make me hit you with a microphone or something.
-
When Hoff steps into this thread, I plan to give him the biggest belt-shot ever. I'm talking, like, size-96 font.

That's like saying Craig Wilson is a good hitter when he manages to avoid striking out or Mike Piazza is a good catcher when he's not trying to throw out a steal at second. The fact that Benitez can't keep the ball in the park is a MAJOR weakness he has. I do not think the guy is a good closer. Plain and simple. Yes, he does often get a good number of saves throughout the season - but he does not come through in the clutch at all. He almost always blows the important saves: and if he does that, then what the hell is the point? In 1996, when he was on Baltimore, he blew an important playoff save against the Yankees. Looking past Jeffrey Maier's interference, the ball should have never went that far anyway. In 2000, he botched Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees. If the Mets would have won that game, the entire outcome of the World Series could have been different. In 2001, when the Mets were making a strong bid for the playoffs in September, who was there to ruin their chances against Atlanta? Why, Benitez, of course -- blowing yet ANOTHER save. He does not come through at the utmost important times. Playoff games, World Series games, make-or-break season games: Benitez almost always finds a way to fold during those high-pressure situations. To me, that does not spell out a reliable closer - it doesn't even spell out a functional closer. Your worth is cheapened terribly when you manage to win the unimportant games, but break when it comes to the actual important ones. Might I add I'm almost not impressed when he comes into the game during a save opportunity - gives up a run and three hits - but then finally manages to close it out. That just doesn't spell out a good closer to me. Let the Giants have him. The Mets suffered with him long enough. And it was only going to be a matter of time until the people in Florida hated him as well.

I always assumed the word was "whining." Then again, my Brooklyn accent always interferes with word pronunciation, so maybe I've just been misled. Adam, we're pretty much only 57 pages away from shattering "The One and Only Zack Malibu Thread" record. Keep reaching for that gold.
-
*confused over what exactly "whinging" is* I would like my thread to have actual words, please. Grammar, people! It's all I ask!
-
You're getting ashes all over the floor! *Pulls cigarette out of your mouth and stomps it out* Please, man. I just vacuumed the rug. Christ......
-
NOOOOOOO!!!! My thread has been ruined!!!! I can feel my ego deflating!
-
Thanks Adam! To properly celebrate this occasion, I think everyone should list their absolute FAVORITE Drek Stone moments. Afterwards, you all can point out the finer attributes of myself. NYU: The Man Behind The Wrestler. Now, now, I don't want to see anyone feeling shy. I would enjoy discovering how I've inspired and enriched everyone's lives here. With these guidelines, this thread will surely more productive than the other OAO Threads filled with silly belt-shots and chair-shots.

Gloating from the NEW OAOAST Heavyweight Champion!

Once again, the WWE accidents themselves into a potential gold mine and isn't sure what to do with it. If Batista/HHH was the plan for WM21, and not HHH/Orton II, I'd say they were booking geniuses. Like it was said of the PLO... the WWE never misses an Opportunity to Miss an Opportunity EDIT: Nevermind. The random stabs at booking Orton/HHH instead of Batista/HHH are just too illogical to pick apart. Hasn't anyone else considered the possibility that could be building for HHH/Orton/Batista at WrestleMania? It worked well for them with HHH/HBK/Benoit last year - I could see them trying to go for it again. And this time, these three guys actually have an interweb of history between them. I'm not saying it would be GOOD, but it does seem to be logical.
-
Why would the Giants want to add that lead weight upon themselves? And it's being reported that the New York Mets have offered Pedro Martinez a 3-year, 38-million contract, which surpasses the Red Sox offer so far. The Mets aren't going to actually sign Pedro, but it's nice to see them trying anyway.

I'm amazed that Sally would call him by his TSM name.

"Hey, young lady. You're looking quite respectable there" "Um.....thanks." "That dress covers the right amount of flesh on your body without revealing too much coverage of your breasts. It's nice, you know?" ".....yeah." "After this, what's say you and I drop by my house and turn on Fox News? I bet they're doing a coverage story on Bush tonight. Did you know I voted for him?" *Tires squeal away*
-
.....I was wondering why Synth decided to just begin reading random lines from "Animal Farm." Either way, it worked. AND LEAVE MORE BEFF BAK!!! ALL OF YOU!!! *Beff bak = Feedback, for those not as cool and in the know as I.

Delano Pet peeve. Which is why I always say "FDR," I never fully understood "Delenor." My only theories are a) People kind of combine Franklin and Eleanor's names or b) People say (Especially up here in New York) "Franklin Delano Roosevelt" so quickly and in such a way that the end of Delano and the beginning of Roosevelt get mixed together. "franklindelanoroosevelt" Oddly enough, we had a discussion about this in Poli Sci class the other day. I could have sworn the spelling was "Delanor." I think I've thought that my whole life. It wasn't until I learned in class that the spelling was actually "Delano." I think it has something to do with being married to Eleanor Roosevelt. People think of FDR and Eleanor as being a couple, and probably mix up the terms subconsciously. Hence: Franklin Delanor Roosevelt. And I think all the basic Great Americans have been named in this thread already. However, I would also give credit to someone like Andrew Carnegie. Despite his reputation as a "robber baron", he still proved to be a revolutionary force in big business and actually contributed over $350 million dollars to different charities throughout his life. I would at least give him credit for that.

Really good Pay-Per-View with an excellent ending, if I do say so myself . In fact, the PPV was SO good that I think I'm going to give some detailed feedback on it. Surprising, no? The New New Midnight Express vs. Hell's Hitmen - Good way to start off the evening. I was a little surprised to see it turn into a Handicap match right at the beginning, but the concept did a lot to boost Jingus's credibility. He just kicked out of everything the NNMX was throwing at him, and it was great to see him get the advantage near the end. I was genuinely surprised to see The Saints interfere and cost Jingus the match. However, there really was no other way to end this. Now, the NNMX can fight for the Tag Titles next month and Jingus & The Sadist can feud with the Saints. It's a win-win situation. Phenom vs. Pheonix - Phenom needed to squash Pheonix here, and that's exactly what he did, which was good. The match here was pretty decent but again, like last month, I just don't think you're putting enough description into your matches. I mean, the entire match was "Move -- 2 count -- Move -- 2 Count -- Move -- 2 count -- Move -- 3 count." It wouldn't have hurt to stretch it out a little. Have Phenom WANT to put Pheonix through torture. Write about Pheonix's screams of pain. Write about the crowd trying to will Pheonix through this by chanting his name, only to basically fail near the end. You just need to include more. I liked some of the concepts here - the finish was pretty damned cool. I loved Phenom chokeslamming Pheonix through the ring mat. That's the kind of crazy stuff we needed to see from this guy since the beginning. But you really just need to add more descriptions AND more moves to your matches. You'll find it will look a LOT better. Leon Rodez vs. The Mad Cappa - Good interview with Rodez beforehand. We don't often see Leon's serious side come out too often, so it really did a lot to show that this feud was over more than just a title. Anyway, EXCELLENT match! KC has just done an awesome job of capturing Cappa's sadistic side. There were so many great near-falls in this contest, and the uses of the nightstick and the steel chair were handled perfectly. They were used, but not nearly enough to minimize their impact. When Cappa got hit with the nightstick or Rodez hit with the chair, you really thought it was over. I also liked seeing Cappa attacking Rodez afterwards, especially if it means we might see another match between these two. Again, excellent stuff! Invitation to Anarchy - Really entertaining match with an incredibly unpredictable ending. It was just genius to see The Fanboys actually win something like this. Meanwhile, the match itself was very good. The action was exciting, the eliminations were handled well - and most importantly, the foodfight near the end was just fun to read. And like I said before, it was great to see The Fanboys come away with the win. What other team was more deserving to win a mint-condition Luke Skywalker figure?! Panther vs. Brock Ausstin - Another spectacuar match. The psychology here was handled extremely well. Ausstin as the huge monster trying to use muscle to get his way to a win, but Panther showing he was the much more wily athlete by using his brain. Both guys looked really strong here. Panther looked SO determined by going for the knee, despite the fact he was so beat up - AND Brock looked incredibly tough by continually coming back from an injured knee to manhandle Panther. German suplex into the ringpost?! INSANE! I also liked the little touches added during the match - Panther spitting the gum into Brock's face during the figure four was great. I was pleasantly surprised to see Chris Bryte back at the end of the match as well. As usual, the Panther saga just continues to deliver. Global Party XChange vs. Zack/T-Bod - Great stuff! The action was intense and some of the near-falls near the end were downright thrilling. The ending, in specific, was just crazy. From the hot tag to Jackson - to Jackson kissing Candie - to Zack/Tony hitting a School's Out/Spinebuster combination - the ending to this thing was pretty memorable. I was surprised to see Zack and Tony manage to be so functional as a team, and that spells huge trouble for the other teams in the Tag division. Notes: I really liked the commentary with Schiavone/Ventura throughout the evening. I felt it added something special to certain matches during the PPV. Really...odd stuff with the Blurricane movie filming. In this case, odd is good! I just wonder if it's leading anywhere. Great development with the Saints deciding to join the New New Midnight Express. The promo was actually very well-written, and it creates a whole bunch of interesting storyline possibilities in the next two months! As for the Elimination Chamber, people already know that I would LOVE to hear their thoughts on it. Sly and I both worked very hard on it - this match possibly being the one I've worked on THE most since I joined the OAOAST - so it would mean a lot to me, and I'm sure to Sly, if people read through it and told us what they thought. And one more thing.... DREK STONE IS THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION~!~! WOWZ~! AMAZING@~!@!@#$ CELEBRATION TIME!!!!111
