Why do I have this terrible stomach ache?
NYU replied to The Czech Republic's topic in No Holds Barred
Friends don't want to hear any truth from a fellow friend that could disagree with them. Accept that they have a different viewpoint from you and move on. Especially if the friend has a personal issue in the subject - in this case, perhaps she has a close gay friend who has complained to her about the marriage issue before. What works at TSM does NOT work in real life. For the most part, it's just easier to stay away from the conversational topic of politics and political-related subject matter altogether. Unless you're absolutely sure that this person wants to have a discussion about those topics in the first place. -
Hoff, I'm assuming turning back the clocks two weeks ago is what threw you off about posting the show up tonight. No problem - some just have a harder time than others getting used to the time change. Oh.....well, that's not good. You know, if Amant Green was looking in this thread right now, he'd say "Damn, Hoff, you really fumbled......." Yeah, forget it. Loses its effectiveness the second time around. Well, anyway, let's roll with some feedback. - Cute preshow segment with Jasmine and The White Stripes to start off the show. It was pretty entertaining to read, and that's really all you can ask for. Fun stuff. -I loved the way the beginning segments just seemed to flow with each other. Hoff is vacating the title?!?! *GASP* Well...yeah.....I knew that already. Either way, it was an effective statement from Watts, that set up the stage for Drek's passionate promo and Axel's surprise attack. The Elimination Chamber should really be a LOT of fun at Thanksgiving Star Wars. - Very good segment between Calvin and Zack. I like that Calvin finally decided to confront Zack over his behavior, and there's a real sense of mystery towards discovering who it was that actually attacked Hoff last week. It's been exciting to see Thrillogy break apart the seams - and finally get a glimpse at the fact that these guys may have never liked each other in the beginning - and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes next. -Really fun contest between Nate Tethers and Danny Douglas. The high-flying stuff at the beginning was really innovative and I liked the way that the entire series of headscissors led them to where the sequence had started off. Danny's wrestling style is actually really interesting. It adds a whole new dimension to the matches in the OAOAST when you have a guy that's willing to base his entire moveset around old-school moves, without resorting to the flashy stuff that impresses so many people today. I was a little surprised to see Nate get so much offense, but it made sense when Danny - of course - brought out the brass knuckles. Really good match. -Excellent Triple Threat match between Rodez and The Global Party Xchange. Loved the opening spot with GPX making Rodez dance along with them. It was great to see the GPX actually stay UNITED throughout the entire match. You always see the tag team always eventually turn on each other in this type of setting, but the fact that the GPX stood together really shows their strength as a team. Rodez looked like a million bucks here, having the strength to overcome both guys before soon making Static tap at the end. Everyone involved looked better at the end of the match, which is what may be its ultimate strength. -Funny segment between Chris and James. I'm really interested to see where Rando goes with this. -Good stuff from the South Central Militia. I don't know if I like the idea that they could be trying to build themselves up as faces, but everything done so far has been done well, so I'll wait before I judge. I really like the nasty attitudes these guys have and I seriously think they can add so much to the Tag Team division. Now..... Gold. Either way, good promo from Chris Stevens in preparation for the Elimination Chamber. Not much more to say here. -Short, but sweet, match from the New New Midnight Express. Once again, they quickly prove themselves to be a continued strong force in the OAOAST. However, that wasn't the real story here. Scary stuff from Hell's Hitmen. Only they could throw dummies of their opponents into flaming garbage cans, then beat each other up afterwards, and have it make perfect sense. The buildup for that match at Thanksgiving Star Wars (HA!) has just been awesome. -Excellent match between Panther/Tina and The Illuminators. Lots of action in this one, with some really believable near-falls at the end. Kevin Yancy Taylor has established himself to be a true prick in the federation in a short time, and this is just a testament to Panther's writing ability. Again, really nice Main Event. Really fun show, everyone. There was some great stuff here, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone has planned for Thanksgiving Star Wars (Thanksgiving Star Wars? What the hell does that name.....forget it). Again, awesome writing this week. Seriously.

Thank you. Edited. From CNN:

I can't help but notice that it's 10:38 PM EST and there's still no show. Still. No. Show! Not that I want to start any trouble or anything, but if Priest Holmes stepped into this thread right now, he'd probably say "Damn, Hoff is really fumbling the ball right now." Feel free to replace Priest Holmes with Amant Green. Or Deuce McAllister. They all fumble a lot. Like Hoff is fumbling this opportunity to post the show tonight. Oh yeah, major burns goin on here tonight. Who's next?

Do you really think all of the faces will win at Survivor Series? Doubt it.... JBL over Booker T. I think they're going to save Booker's title reign for next month, if they have it at all. Otherwise, his title win here could get overshadowed by some of the other biggest matches. Team Helmsley over Team Orton. The faces have just gotten the advantage TOO much this month. Team Guerrero over Team Angle. Cena's going to wind up having the biggest effect here, but then he'll be taken out at the end or something to explain his disappearance to film "The Marine." The Undertaker over Heidenreich. I'll believe someone pinning Taker when I see it. They wouldn't even let the WWE Champion do it. Shelton over Christian. There's no way they'll have Benjamin drop the IC Title so soon. Lita over Trish. They're going to have to reward Lita after all the shit she's been through the past few months. Of course, this feud may carry over into the next few months too. Kidman over Chavo, Spike, Rey. His character is actually starting to get over, so I see them putting the Cruiserweight Title on him sooner rather than later.

Personally, I hate the antics of PETA, and I would never contribute to their organization. I'm guessing that wasn't your main point here. Either way, what a terrible example of a group to support, Mike. I would have thought you would know better. Seeing as I am Christian and have contributed to Christian charities before, I would say that perhaps I do have some knowledge on the subject. And, obviously, the liberals in the North do have money to support charities. And they have. They just cannot afford to do it to the extent that those in the South do. But surprisingly enough, you missed the point here. Religion in the South is much more uniform than it is in the North. In the South, the overwhelming majority of people are Christians. As a result, there is a staggering percentage of contributions being given to Christian organizations, since a large portion of the population share the same religion. In the North, religious observations are a little more varied. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and so on. The list goes on. There really isn't one resounding religion that everyone can rally behind and throw their money to. Unlike the South, the North has a more splintered mindframe when it comes to the concept of religion and, as a result, financial contributions are a little more scattered. Besides that, religion simply means more in the South than it does in the North. Gay marriages, abortions, etc. A more traditional outlook on these topics is presented in the South, which is why more people there would be willing to contribute to the Christian organizations that fight against these subjects. This we know as well. Take that as you will. I'm sure you'll make a responsible decision by trying to use this fact to connect the dots and portray Northerners as bloodsucking demons, or something else of the sort. I certainly did look through the link. What I found were broken links (Our Catalogues for St.Louis, MO and Whatcom County, WA), pages not yet available (Site Map), About Us portions for only 2 locations - NORTHERN locations at that (Massachusetts and Washington D.C.), a Donor Resource page that simply sent me to other links around the web, a Generosity Index that lists a whole bunch of figures but no explanation BEHIND those figures, and a Search Page that nicely takes me right to Google. Quite the impressive page. Certainly enough to draw everyone to the conclusion that Southerners are delightfully charitable and wonderful Good Samaritans, while the Northerners are willing to trip a poor man and steal two dollars out of his pocket as they watch him fall to the ground. There simply is NOT enough information on this page for you to draw the conclusions you have been drawing. Does the South contribute more money to charities than the North does? Possibly. Does this site establish, without a doubt, that the South is more willing to help the poor while the North is more willing to watch them suffer? Absolutely not.
-
What an absolutely stupid conclusion. Has anyone raised the point that perhaps most of these charities being contributed to by these Southern states are Christian charities? As in: The money isn't being given so much to those that need it rather than the organizations that these people agree with in the first place. Supporting Christian churches, pro-life rallies looking to support the end of abortions, contributions for measures on preserving the sanctity of marriage, and so on. This site merely notes the states that gave money to charities - it doesn't say what TYPES of charities. For all we know, the South spends a ridiculous amount of money on supporting the charities that represent their beliefs - which could explain why their rankings are so high. Meanwhile, the North could spend money on rather impartial groups more geared towards actually helping those who need it in certain urban areas. Yet, because they do spend less on this particular cause, they rank lower on the list. Which allows some here to make ridiculous accusations. Admittedly, these are just thoughts thrown out without much backing behind them. But then again, it's not like this philanthropy site provides much proof or actually EXPLAINS their justification either.

OAOAST Labor Day Battlefield Earth seems like it would do just fine.

Just for my own personal interest: Does the name of "Thanksgiving Star Wars" have any significance? Are there any hidden puns I'm missing here or something? And oh yeah, Drek Stone will be competing in a match. A match that will get more hype on HeldDown this THURSDAY!!!
-
You know it will be mentioned...numerous times. It even has it's own little 'sound effect' in the replay shown on Heat. I just appreciate how the company never has a problem with continuity. I especially liked how they addressed Randy Orton and Ric Flair shaking hands after their bloody cage match at Taboo Tuesday. You know.....when, on the next Raw.......they had Flair saying he didn't respect Orton.....pretending as if the handshake never happened.... ....yeah, there's a pretty good chance that Batista shove ain't being mentioned tonight.

Czech: This is what I'm talking about. Don't lump every liberal with this guy. Don't lump every liberal with those that threaten to leave the country. Don't lump every liberal with those that vow to protest in Washington. These people are the VOCAL ones - they don't represent the majority. Most of the liberals in this country are willing to move on, albeit unhappy with the election and possibly somewhat bitter at President Bush. They don't say or do some of the absurd things you, and some others around here, are generalizing with every liberal. There are assholes on the left-wing side of politics, just as there are assholes on the right-wing side. We recognize this and move on. To pretend as if one psycho represents everybody is not only ridiculous but just plain wrong.
-
I know, because you can hear the news stories about all the liberals lining the streets to salute this man and his valiant efforts. Please. For some reason, it's become customary to lump a left-wing whacko with every other liberal in the country. That would be like taking the rather racist viewpoints of Strom Thurmond or the thus-far insane policies of Tom Coburn, and lumping the entire Republican party, and its supporters, with that particular person. It's absurd! Yet, for some, this man's stupid reaction just a "typical liberal response." Stop trying to look for a connection that isn't there. No one supports this guy. Not conservatives. Not liberals. He's just another douche that society can cross off its list.

Shotgun? Pssh, how ordinary. He should have hung himself off the roof of the White House. Find a glamorous way to go out. By the way, is anyone going to question how he got a shotgun into a restricted area like Ground Zero? Rather interesting question...

Say, who's the guy with the blinking diamonds in his sig? I want to learn more about him....

Scott Boras HAS to be the biggest bloodsucking sports agent in Major League Baseball
-
You better, unless you were too drunk to remember. Of course I did! But I was trying to keep it secret! God! Now everyone's going to expect Drek and Hoff to see each other! It was supposed to be a secret! I was trying to keep a secret! WHY DID YOU REFUSE TO LET ME KEEP A SECRET?! ..... ..... P.S. - Finish W.W.E. feedback
-
But honestly, when creating your wrestler, how many of those textures did you actually consider using? The Create-A-Wrestler feature has always had some good choices but a LOT of garbage when it comes to ring attire. If they got rid of all that garbage, but kept the usable and realistic stuff, then I have no problem with it.
-
For almost all my feuds, the Pay-Per-View results are planned in advance. In my feud with The Mad Cappa, I had each decision planned out - Cappa's win in May, Drek's win in June, and Cappa's conclusive win in July - when I scripted the feud in late-April. The same will be happening for my upcoming feud that will be branching out for the next few months. As for HeldDowns, yeah....week-by-week has always been the plan. In fact, I usually don't write my segments until Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Think I have anything planned for tomorrow yet? Nope.

The Parka/Peter Night vs. The Machine - Great visual with the cage wall actually collapsing onto the floor, and Parka rolling along with it. Fun stuff. Once again, The Machine proves that they're willing to be assholes until the very end. It's sad to think that this entire saga is quickly coming to a close, but I'm sure LPYC has an awesome ending up his sleeve for a storyline that has taken so many twists and turns. -Well-done intense prematch promo from Panther. Admittedly, I was kind of surprised at Panther's negative attitude towards wrestling. Yet, it seems that it adds a definitive mean streak to his personality and, with the stakes at W.W.E. being as high as they were, it makes a lot of sense. Good hype for the Ladder Match later on. Phenom vs. Frank Frankensteiner - Fine debut match, but it just seems like a lot more could have been done with it. Good initial foundation of action in the match, yet there just wasn't enough here. The story of your matchup definitely got across: You were looking to prove the power of Phenom, while still trying to give Frankensteiner somewhat of a chance. That came across fine, but the match was missing a certain dimension. Besides just rattling off a list of moves, explain what exactly is happening. Explain how Frankensteiner is rolling around the ring in anguish. Explain how the fans "oooh" with every power move that Phenom is hitting. Try to have the sequence of moves make sense: Phenom tries to hit a clothesline, Frank superkicks him, Frank picks him up for a suplex doesn't look too good, because it goes against how a match normally goes. How I would have planned it: Phenom steps back, waiting for Frank to turn his attention to him. Once Frank does, Phenom charges forward with a clothesline......but no! Frank ducks it! Phenom turns around quickly and....SUPERKICK! Frankensteiner just hit Phenom with a superkick, completely taking him off his feet! Frank raises his arms to the fans, receiving a rather loud reaction in return. He then starts to pick Phenom off the mat, who clearly looks dazed at this point. Frank looks ready to hook him up for a suplex, but Phenom gives him a vicious kick to the face! Frank instantly falls down to the mat, and Phenom quickly makes the cover! One! Two! Kickout! Of course, you could add commentary in there as you please. This kind of description does so much more to help flesh out a match and give it a logical, somewhat special, type of feeling. I'm not saying to follow my exact format of writing - everyone needs to be original with their own stuff - but you need to try to learn how to help people visualize a match rather than feel like they're just reading it. Then again, this may just be something you'll learn over time. Either way, this was still a decent beginning match, and I certainly look forward to seeing what you have planned in the future with this character. -With just one segment, the South Central Militia have already proven themselves to be complete badasses in the OAOAST. I liked the harsh language since it seemed to add a street-cred dimension to their characters that isn't present in too many guys in this federation right now, and their attack on the fans was just brutal. I personally loved this section. Gunner Sharps vs. Christopher Canberra - Good, if not obvious, foreshadowing at the start of the match with interviewing the Aussie fan in the crowd. The actual beginning stuff with Gunner and Canberra managed to be both entertaining and realistic. I liked how Canberra initially blindsided Gunner with the low blow, but how Gunner just reaffirmed his strength moments later. As for the post-match shenanigans, for some reason, I find myself really enjoying this group already. An entire stable consisting of guys we haven't met yet just seems so fresh, and the fact that they're all from Australia should add an interesting dynamic. Couple that with the fact that these guys CAN wrestle - whether it be through technical skills or crazy high-flying ones (450 moonsault!!) - and we could have a great few months coming up with AWOL. Black T vs. Los Infernales - Great action, with everyone really looking strong here. El Dandy showed his skills at the beginning of the match, with Poet taking over later on. However, Black T proved just why they were, and maybe still are, considered to be the best tag team in the division. Between great technical expertise, and a cheating machine that can't be beated, they continue to reaffirm that they are the team to beat in the Tag Division. Fun stuff here! Yuji Chusaki vs. Alex Bryant - Excellent, excellent scientific matchup here. The action here was furious and non-stop, and I was genuinely entertaining the entire way through. Both guys came out incredibly good here. Loved all the nearfalls at the end, leading up to a fever-pitch ending with a top rope Border City Driver. Amazing. It's a shame that Bryant would eventually have the title taken away from him but, if we get the chance to see more matches like this, then it's not really a problem. -Odd segment with Popick. If this really means the end of INTEN5E, it's just a shame more couldn't have been brought out of it. Still, Popick always has something crazy up his sleeve, so time will tell. Global Party XChange vs. The New New Midnight Express - Good old-school matchup between these two teams. The attack on the knee was well-done and the figure-four sequence added some real excitement to the match. I also liked seeing Jingus appear from under the ring for a quick Clawslam. The directions every team in the division seems to take continues to grow more intriguing. Chris Stevens vs. Sly Sommers - Awesome match. The pacing here was just perfect. It went from starting out tensely slow at the beginning to becoming balls-to-the-wall crazy at the end. It worked out perfectly. Stevens really established himself as the prick in this match, and Sommers showed that he definitely still has it, despite why Chris had said a few weeks ago. This match helped out both guys tremendously. Hollywood vs. Alix - I really enjoyed this one. While I didn't understand the concept at first, the originality of the Trick or Treat stipulation really shined through here. There was some awesome action between these two women, and the stuff they did to each other in that cage was BRUTAL! (German suplex into the cage?!) Logan calling for the bell makes perfect sense, and it will be interesting to see how it's dealt with on HeldDown. The excellent action brought in this match really exceeded my expectations. And that's honestly saying a lot! -The In Crowd Remix? Why do I see them feuding with GPX almost instantly? Either way, wow. It's great to see the Tag Division continue to thicken. -The stuff with Chris and James during the night was such stupid fun that I couldn't help but laugh. I can only hope it winds up leading to more appearances from them in the future. Zack Malibu vs. Axel vs. Ragdoll - Quality Main-Event-Sized match. The intensity that Ragdoll showed in this prematch promo was off-the-charts. Loved how he let his anger completely take over him there, managing to shut up both Axel and Zack. As for the action, it simply came FAST and FURIOUS. The near-falls in this one were handled SO, SO well and, by the end, I honestly didn't know who was going to win. Ragdoll spitting another fireball into Axel's face is crazy, and I shudder to think what they could plan to do to each other in the upcoming weeks. The Blurricane vs. Leon Rodez - Amazing. KC definitely didn't disappoint in this one, as the action was everything I would have ever expected between these two. Insane reversals, exciting pinfall sequences, great technical wrestling, shocking highflying moves - like a suicide moonsault through a table, all add up to what I consider to be a SPECTACULAR match! The subtle heel tendencies of Blurricane during the contest were a nice touch as well. I was glad to see Rodez finally win the title here, since I really do feel he deserves it. His work in the OAOAST is alwys consistently tremendous, and it was about time he was rewarded for that. Loved this! Panther vs. Drek Stone - Panther wrote the initial part of the match, so I just thought I'd comment on it. I really think we complimented each other well with this. Your part of the match provided the solid foundation the rest of the contest would be built on. I liked how they didn't bother to use the ladder in the initial portion of the match, and instead relied on trying to decide who exactly was the better wrestler. The ladder was brought in naturally and, even then, the first spots involving it were well-done. Your part focused on in-ring action, while my part relied on the crazy ladder spots, and I honestly feel we hit something great here. Crystal vs. Hoff - Wow. What can I say here? Huge congratulations to Hoff for managing to finally win the World Championship. I was shocked to see him win the title, as he saw on IM when I first skipped over his match and fast-forwarded right to the ending. I was really happy to see him get rewarded like this for the great work I've seen him do since I joined this fed. By the way, this was an EXCELLENT Main Event! I know the stress you went through for the beginning portion of the match, having to do it under such short notice, but I could not tell at all that it was rushed one-bit. The ending sequence was crazy with all the high-impact moves, followed by subsequent kickouts, and the Future Shock off the top was just the way to end it. Awesome, awesome match, followed by an awesome, awesome ending. Congrats again, Hoff. GREAT, GREAT stuff everyone. I seriously do mean that. Now, if we could only get some more feedback on the Drek Stone/Panther Ladder Match (OMG!! MATCH OF THE YEAR CLASSIC!! WOWZZZZZZ~!~!) And there may be some serious hasslin if Patty and Hoff don't finish their feedback like they promised! Sorry, but this wouldn't have been an NYU Feedback post without some feedback whoring somewhere.....

I never said I agreed with the Dems threatening to sue over the votes in Ohio. Unless they have solid proof that some shady things went down in Ohio or Florida, they really should just drop the case and stop delaying the inevitable. I just find it ironic that some Conservatives here are calling for Kerry to admit defeat in order to unify the country under George W. Bush, yet are having fun by mocking both the liberals on this board and the liberals they converse with on a daily basis. How could you honestly say you want the country to now be united under the Bush administration, yet do your best to taunt the liberals that just went through a tough loss tonight? This only raises tensions even further! Either you're sincere with your thoughts that you want the political divisions in this country to be dissolved for the good of every American - which would mean you would drop the childish taunting of Democrats - or you would much rather be an asshole, happy to bother people that are already depressed enough - which would mean the "country unifying" line is a crock of shit. You can't have it both ways.
-
Hopefully you won't later whine in Czech's thread that people treat you so terribly simply because you're a Republican. Tensions are going to be high tomorrow. It's best not to do anything stupid like publically scream about Bush's victory or paste Bush bumper stickers along your entire hallway. Obviously, if you do, you're only asking for trouble. Republicans got what they wanted with what looks to be a Bush victory. It's useless to rub it in the face of Democrats, simply because it will only do its part to divide the country even further.

Outside of I-95, nothing pops to mind. -=Mike Has anyone here-outside of driving on I-95-actually been in Delaware? I've seriously, in all my years, never met anyone from the state, nor has anyone I know gone there. Hi, I live here. In Delaware. Yes, I am in this state...known as Delaware. 2Gold, don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you don't live in Delaware. Nobody lives there. Either way, this is the perfect time to break out the liquor. Four more years of Michael Moore and passionate complaints about Bush are on the way.
-
At least Delaware has historical significance with a heroic George Washington sailing across the river. What the hell does Ohio have?! Wonderful.
-
It's just sad that - out of all fifty states in the United States - we're actually relying on OHIO to give us our next President of the United States. OHIO!! Yes, relying on an upstanding place like this is just asking for success.
