Scott Christ's TPI Preview
PsychoDriver replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in General Wrestling
That's impressive stuff. lots of great info there and the pictures were a very nice touch as well. -
Hello TSM! Mmm I had no clue thread to put this in... so I just thought I'd give it's own thread. Anyway, here's the 12th edition in my "PWG Thoughts and Predictions" series! Enjoy! Just a reminder... you can also find this preview at the wonderful http://www.paradisecityninjas.bravehost.com So check it out, they have alot of great reviews and whatnot there as well. check it out Coming off PWG's last show, we were left with several unaswered questions. Which I will now run down for you: - Just who will Joey Ryan or Scott Lost choose as their new championship partner? - Can anyone stop Samoa Joe's reign of terror? - How high is up? - What does the newly formed "First Family" (Kazarian, Babi Slymm, Brad Bradley and Mr. Vanderpyle) stable have in store for PWG? - How would Super Dragon rebound from his crushing defeat at the hands of Samoa Joe? - Have we truly seen the last of Adam Pearce in PWG? - Who put the bop in the bop-she-bop-she-bop? - What was with the post match altercation between Disco Machine and Excalibur? Is there problem within SBS? - Is Disco Machine really finished with the stable of Top Gun Talwar, Charles Mercury and Chris Bosh? - Do you think atheists ever purchase insurance for "acts of God"? - Will Top Gun Talwar and Chuck Mercury ever get a win in PWG? - Can Superman out run the Flash? - Was Tony Danza... truly the boss? - And lastly why do people like Applejacks when they don't taste like real apples? It boggles the mind... but it's just lucky for us, that the answers to most of these questions and more will finally be revealed on September 4th 2004 as PWG presents their next show entitled "The Next Show!" Now let's cut this jibba jabba and run down the matches! Special Attraction American Dragon vs. UK Kid Previously on "The Days Of Our Guerrilla": At "A Reason for the Season" American Dragon teamed with Christopher Daniels to defeat Samoa Joe and Ricky Reyes in heated tag team grudge match. In which American Dragon finally got a measure of revenge on Ricky Reyes (who sneak attacked him back at "The Musical") So with Reyes out of the picture, Dragon was finally set to settle his score with Samoa Joe in Super No Limit Grudge Match on 8/14/04 but had to pull out due to pressing commitments in Japan. Now he enters the "Next Show" as a late addition, and finds that his rivals Samoa Joe and The Havana Pitbulls are both already booked in important matches. While nothing comes between American Dragon and his Calvins, prior bookings however will come between Dragon and his shot at revenge this time out. So he will just have to take it out on an international challenger, in the form of Cliff from the International House Of Pancakes! Oh but that's before the show, during the show he'll have to wrestle some dude named the UK Kid. Little is known about him and judging from the "UK" in his name I'm guessing he's a student from the University of Kentucky or something.... Kidding! The UK Kid is actually a very accomplished wrestler from England! And like American Dragon, he was trained at the very respected Shawn Michaels' Texas Wrestling Academy! So should prove to be a formidable foe for The American Dragon! So forget about the Olympics, we've got the UK Vs. America right here in PWG! Alert Reuters! PWG records: American Dragon is 6-2-1 overall and The UK Kid will be making his PWG debut at the show. Thoughts: I'll begin with yet another analogy; the UK Kid is to SoCal what Weird Al Yankovic is to the music business. No they didn't both record the song "Taco Grande" I mean they both seem to come around once every year or so and make you say to yourself "Oh yeah... that guy" then they disappear right back where they came from (Lather Rinse Repeat). But whenever they do come around... you always end being glad they did (except in the case of Weird Al's somewhat awful "Alapalooza" album that is) While I've only seen UK Kid in two matches or so. Both of those matches impressed me. UK Kid Vs. Joey Ryan from GSCW in Oct. 2002 most of all. Kid was working that crowd like he owned them! He's a very effective heel from what I've seen. I don't know maybe it's something about his British accent that really makes the crowds react to him and want to throw his stinking tea into the harbor! But whatever it is, it seems to work. All his antics really seemed to bring out the best in Joey Ryan. So much in fact, that I recall reading that Joey lists that match as one of his all time favorites matches. So what happens when you mix him with American Dragon? Well the same thing that happens when you mix anyone with American Dragon, you a get an awesome match. Plus factor in that they both came from the same wrestling school and should both be out to do their alumni proud. I'd expect a fun match here, and just smell that international flavor... kind of smells minty. My Prediction: In the case of this match, American Dragon should just change his name to Parker Lewis.... because he can't lose! I mean just think about it, it's an American DRAGON vs. a mere KID from the UK! How's that for expert prognostication eh? 6-Man Grudge Match B-Boy, Homicide, & Bobby Quance vs. Puma, Ricky Reyes, & Rocky Romero The Habana Brothers Band: Behind The Music! This is the story of four men, who came from nowhere to capture America’s heart and blossomed into a global wide sensation. Now we take a look at the trials & tribulations surrounding one of music's most talented groups. This is "The Habana Brothers Band": Behind the music. Ricky Reyes, Rocky Romero, PUMA & Bobby "Rocko" Quance, although each of them were acclaimed artists before they initially formed the group. It was only after they all started jamming at the internationally renowned "Inoki Dojo: House of Blues" in Santa Monica, CA that it all came together. After a few note worthy shows stateside, the band was soon touted as "the next big next thing in rock" The group was in such high demand that they soon landed a series international tours in Mexico (with CMLL) and later Japan (with NJPW) Just when things seemed at their apex, a scandal rocked the band to it's very core, after a May 2003 Rolling Stone article exposed the fact that the Habana Brothers were indeed... not actually brothers. Undaunted the band and its fans soldiered on... The Habana Brother Band seemed to relish this life of rock n' roll excess they led and everything seemed well... that is until they entered the rock n' roll halls of PWG... At first they were set to make an immediate impact on PWG as a unit. As PWG had inked the group to Co-Headline their inaugural show in July 2003... but due to scheduling conflicts and the fact that Reyes had suffered a serious shoulder injury, the performance had to be canceled! The group then had some time apart and decided to focus on their individual careers. In time they all eventually made their way in to PWG as solo acts, "The TJ PERKINS THREE" hit the scene in Oct. 03, The genre deifying "DIRTY DANCING 2: HAVANA PITBULLS" debuted in Dec. 03 and " 'ROCKIN' ROCKO' Quance" first rocked the guerrilla in Feb 04. It seemed that after many months apart, the band was finally back together! Or so we may have thought! The first signs of dissension within the band accured after Ricky Reyes had joined up with legendary SoCal rap mogul Samoa Joe at PWG's "The Musical" to attack Classically trained music virtuoso American Dragon (a man who in part trained Bobby Quance) with a double team sonic blast of white noise! The next month at PWG's "44 Ways To Kill You with Pimento" Rock and Peace Festival. Quance took up this issue with Reyes on the stage. While Ricky ended up defeating Quance in what seemed to be a mostly frendly jam session. Afterward things turned ugly, the two got into a shoving match (perhaps over Reyes' treatment of American Dragon the gig prior) During which Quance was overheard saying, "What happened to you man? It used to be about the music!" Band member PUMA then came down to ringside to interject between his fellow Habana Brothers. But then out of nowhere, PUMA launched a cover version of the HBK classic "Sweet Chin Music" right to the face of Bobby Quance! PUMA and Reyes then proceeded to double-team the fallen "Rockin' Rocko" The once calm and stable, Habana Brothers Band appeared to have turned into the chaotic Guns N' Roses! With the Izzy Stradlin (Reyes) and Duff McKagen (PUMA) of the group appearing to be kicking the SLASH (Quance) out of the band! (you don't even want to know what they did to the Steven "Popcorn" Adler of the group!) What was the issue here? Why couldn't everyone just mellow out? and just what would the Axl Rose (Rocky Romero, who was off doing a concert tour in Japan) of the group have to say about this apon his return? At the next PWG's next mega music event "Rocktoberfest" Quance met PUMA in a heated battle of the bands. But PUMA must have hit a wrong note as Quance was able to put him away with his signature power cord known as the "Shooting Star Press" And it appeared as if a little bit of heavy metal justice had been served. When it came time for PWG's big Woodstock-esque anniversary gig, Quance had no choice but to pull out... as he was offered an invitation to jam with one with the best known rock festivals around, CZW's "Best of the Best 4" in the hard rockin' city known as Philadelphia. Where he made an even bigger name for himself, and impressed so much he was even voted "the most rockiness rocker to ever rock" by the hard to please Philly metal heads! Meanwhile, back at the band's old PWG stomping grounds, The Habana Brothers band front man Rocky Romero made his long awaited return to the PWG stage in a losing albeit impressive effort against the Christian metal stylings of international rock star, AJ Styles. But later in the gig, long time band member Ricky Reyes and new band member Samoa Joe had to face off with a Jam Band popular in Japan but making it's American debut as performing unit, Daniels & Danielson! After being upset by D&D, Reyes, Samoa Joe and PUMA started administering an off key musical assault on their enemies! Just then front man Rocky Romero hit the ring! Just where did he stand? At first it appeared that he was fed up with the band and siding with Daniels & Danielson.. But he then revealed his true colors by attacking Danielson! Romero had indeed joined this new revamped version of the band now dubbed "The Dangerous Players and Oates" (Note: Oates later kicked out of the group due to lack of talent) It appeared as if nothing could stop this new super group. Or could it? Quance who had another concert date with CZW on the date of PWG's next concert. Quance decided to make the best of his new CZW surroundings and recruit some musicians out of the CZW touring acts to help him deal with the new rock super group that was "The Dangers Players, Seals and Croft" He decided to pick a team of hardcore gangsta rappers that had previously won PWG's Tango and Cash... B-Boy and Homicide! Now with the lineups finalized, The new musical combination of Quance, B-Boy and Homicide will square off with Quance's former band mates Rocky Romero, Ricky Reyes & PUMA on September 4th in a PWG rock n' roll extravaganza not to be missed! The very future of modern music may depend on the outcome! PWG Overall records: Homicide is 4-1, B-Boy is 7-3, Bobby Quance is 2-3, Ricky Reyes is 6-3, Rocky Romero is 4-2 and PUMA is 9-3 Past History? A great deal of it here... Of course Pitbulls/PUMA/Quance have loads of history B-Boy/Homicide are a semi-regular tag team with PWG/IWA:MS and other feds B-Boy and Bobby Quance have actually teamed before in 2002 as part of the "Golden Gate Invitational" B-Boy and PUMA have had a long history and many matches before. B-Boy & Ricky Reyes had a few memorable meetings in the past in such feds as RevPro, MPW and maybe UPW Homicide (w/B-Boy) fought PUMA in the 2nd round of the PWG Tango and Cash. Homicide while never in a match against the Pitbulls before is actually stable mates with them in ROH (I bet maybe 3 of you didn't already know that) Thoughts: What really needs to be said here? On one side you have the well-seasoned unit of The Havana Pitbulls & PUMA, who've had many outstanding 6-man tags in Mexico with CMLL and are among the top wrestling talent currently in the world. On the other side you have Bobby Quance, Homicide and B-Boy, probably three of the most talented indy wrestlers going today. Yep, as you can probably tell this one is pretty self-explanatory. So there is really no need for me to keep throwing superlatives around here. I'd expect nothing short of an amazing 6-man clinic in this one. Prediction: Havana Pitbulls & PUMA PWG Tag Team Championship Ladder Match - Winner Picks A New Partner Scott Lost vs. Joey Ryan Burden of dreams: the X-Foundation's saga!: The date: 11/25/01. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was casting it's spell at the box office, Screen legend and star of TV's "Fantasy Island" Ricardo Montalban turned 81, a older and wiser Martin Lawrence taught us all how to laugh again (without the aid of Sheneneh) in Black Knight and the world was still doing it's best to outcome the terrible atrocity that was Michael Jackson's "Invincible" album. But most importantly it was on that date that Joey Ryan and Scott Lost teamed up for the very first time and a team was born. First the team came to be known as the New Lost Boys and then in November 2002 it officially became known as the X-Foundation (with 3rd member Funky Billy Kim). In no time flat SoCal's Super friends Joey Ryan and Scott Lost had become the talk of the tag team scene! In fact, they completely took over the scene, one promotion at a time (be it in MPW, UPW, RevPro, AWS, APW-LA/GSCW, EPIC, WCWA or PCW) wherever they went they found near instant success and shot to immediate tag title contention. The pair went on to become one of the most decorated tag teams in the history of West Coast Indy wrestling by capturing tag titles in such promotions as CWA, PCW, WCWA and AWS as well as winning the award for the 2002 SoCal Tag Team of the year. By the time March 2004 rolled around, all seemed right in the world of the X-Foundation. They had just won the PWG Tag Titles over the seemingly unbeatable B-Boy & Homicide, they were the 2 survivors of the Guerrilla Games match at "88 Miles Per Hour", the TV series Smallville was still going strong and they were set for what seemed to be a cake walk of a match against a team they'd beaten twice before, Chris Bosh & Quicksilver. Yes, the X-Foundation's future was so bright they had to wear shades. That is until.... IT HAPPENED! The Match?: X-Foundation Vs. Chris Bosh and Quicksilver The event?: PWG's Kee_ The _ee out of our _ool The Place?: The Santa Ana Elks Lodge The Date?: March 27th 2004 The Time?: Uh, around 10 PMish PST The atmosphere? It was slightly humid, the Santa Ana winds were blowing due east, Jupiter was aligned with Pluto; the moon was in the seventh.... The point?: I'm getting to it "IT" was the shot heard around the PWG world, as Scott Lost had accidentally super kicked Joey Ryan, and ended costing them out only a sure victory and PWG Tag titles, but perhaps their all important trust in one another as well. Disgusted, Joey Ryan walked out on Scott Lost. It appeared that the halcyon days of The X-Foundation were now at an end. The dissension between them, continued to grow at PWG's next show "The Musical" as the complete X-Foundation triumvirate (Ryan, Lost, FBK) took on The Thomaselli Brothers. It seemed to be another sure fire victory for the Foundation as Ryan had Vito Thomaselli set up for for The X-Foundation's Extinction Agenda finisher (a back breaker/flying elbow drop combo) but Lost choose to dive outside the ring onto Sal and Brandon in order to save FBK who was being double teamed, rather than complete the move and get the sure win. This give Vito enough time to recover and plant Joey with the Sicilian Driver (Aka Rubix cube, Joker Driver ETC) and steal the victory! After the match both Ryan & Lost exchanged words and it was clear to all that there was indeed... trouble in paradise (or Santa Ana) so to speak. At the next event, The X-Foundation seemed to be a cohesive unit once again, as they were able to defeat the crafty Ballard Brothers with only one minimal insident (Lost accidentally hit Ryan with a plancha) This was a very important victory for the Foundation as it earned them an opportunity at recapturing the PWG tag titles they had lost 2 months prior. The X-Foundation looked to be finally back on track.... The next month at "Rocktober Fest" The X-Foundation met Super Dragon & Excalibur for the PWG tag titles. The problems began early as Super Dragon quickly knocked Joey Ryan cold with a psycho driver. Leaving Scott all alone against the champs. And went Lost finally reached for the tag... Joey wasn't there for him. So Lost ended up taking all that SBS had to give (including the dreaded Curb Stomp) Later in the match Lost was finally able to tag in the still dazed Joey Ryan. The X-Foundation looked to have regained control. That is until Ryan went to tag Scott Lost... and Lost refused. Earlier in the match, Joey wasn't there for Scott... now Scott wasn't there for Joey. Much to the crowd's dismay, Scott Lost had walked out on Joey and the team (A Moment captured perfectly right here: http://www.shanesphotos.com/wrestling/gall...images/0707.jpg ) Now with a 2-1 advantage, SBS got cocky and instead of pinning the beaten down Joey Ryan. They tried to inflict even more punishment. Excalibur applied a surfboard on Ryan, while SD went upstairs to try an inverted 450. But somehow Ryan reversed Excalibur's hold and rolled him up for the 1-2-3 and the PWG tag team titles! Afterward Scott Lost returned to the ring and met Joey Ryan with a cheap shot for good measure, and claimed his half of the titles. After that night, the X-Foundation was no more (and if you are into bad puns you could call them The EX-Foundation!) R.I.P. 11-25-01 to 6-19-04 This heated issue finally came to a head at PWG's "A Reason for the season" supershow as Scott Lost and Joey Ryan faced each other one on one to settle this score. However with both of them knowing the other so well... it was like a mirror match. They knew the counters for everything the other would attempt. They even resorted to mimicking the others signature moves to try to gain an advantage. In the end after an intense 20 plus minute encounter.... Scott Lost had ad merged the victor after finally making Ryan submit to the sharpshooter. Lost had won the battle, but the war was far from over. The PWG tag team title issue still had to be settled. It was clear that these two could no longer function as a unit. So in order to determine which hold get possession of the tag titles, PWG commissioner and avid surfer Paul T. ordered these two bitter foes to square off in a ladder match. In which the winner will get to select his new PWG Tag Team championship partner! So on September 4th, The X-Foundation's saga will finally reach it's climax and the PWG tag team landscape will never be the same... again. PWG Singles records: Joey Ryan is 4-3 and Scott Lost is 1-1 (the one win coming over Ryan in July) My Thoughts: I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. I thought their last PWG match was very good and told a fantastic story (Yeah I read mixed reviews of it online, but IMO it'll finally get the praise it deserves when it's released on DVD) And now with a ladder involved... I can't even fathom how great this one could be. Also consider that PWG just doesn't go throwing "gimmick" matches around for the hell of it either, when they do one... it always means something. These two aren't new to ladder matches either, Scott Lost had an excellent Ladder Match with Lil Cholo at GSCW's "Proving Grounds" in March 2003 and Joey Ryan is no stranger to ladders either after competing in the brutal Guerilla Warfare match with Super Dragon at PWG's "An Inch Longer Than Average" which saw a ladder come in to play. Plus consider that this will be Scott Lost's first match back after spending the last month with Osaka Pro over Japan. Who knows what new tricks he could have up his sleeve. Also what about their potential new championship partners? Could they factor into the match somehow? Overall, I think this one has a ton of potential and it just could steal the entire show. My Prediction?: Scott Lost (and I predict that he will select Chris Bosh as his new tag partner) First Time Ever Dream Match! Chris Hero vs. Super Dragon When last we left our heroes! At the last show Super Dragon, the Scott Farkus of PWG suffered perhaps his most convincing defeat to date at the hands of Samoa Joe. But Samoa Joe made one huge mistake... he didn't finish the job. Now Super Dragon is back and more pissed off than ever. This time in order for SD to get back on the winning track, he must overcome yet another mammoth challenge in the form of CHRIS HERO! Who is considered to be, one of the most acclaimed wrestlers on the planet. Both men will really have their work cut out for them here. Chris Hero as most already know, has wrestled all over the world (20 different states and 6 different countries) including England, Germany, Switzerland and Milwaukee. So he's been everywhere, seen everything, probably wrestled nearly everyone there is to face and learned everything there is to learn in the business (Fun Fact: Hero wrestled an incredible 152 matches in 2003 alone! That's more than most wrestle in their entire careers) but I dare say he's never faced anything quite like the vicious onslaught that only an angry Super Dragon can deliver! Super Dragon, while he's never been to Germany or Milwaukee... He has been to yo mama sucka! And has also just completely dominated the West Coast Indy scene for years now (Just check the stats: 2 time SoCal Wrestler of the year awards, 3 SoCal match of the year awards and was name SoCal Wrestler of the month an amazing 14+ times!) SD has conquered almost every obstacle thrown in his path. But... I dare say that he's never faced anyone as learned in the business as Chris Hero. Will SD be able to overcome the incredibly well seasoned attack of Chris Hero? The dream match is set, September 4th at PWG's "The Next Show" it's The Hero Vs. The Dragon... and this one ain't no fairy tale. Overall PWG records: Super Dragon is 15-5 and Chris Hero is 2-1 My Thoughts?: To be honest, I was giddy as a 13 year old girl learning that N'Sync (or whatever crappy band the kid's like nowadays) was in town, when I first heard this match was added to the show. This one has so much potential it's scary... why you ask? Well beside the fact that they are both phenomenal workers. They have also had some terrific matches with the same opponents in the past, CM Punk, B-Boy, Samoa Joe, Colt Cabana & American Dragon Bryan Danielson for examples. They match up against each other quite nicely as well. They are both very hard hitting, they both have an excellent mastery of submission holds. They both can take to the air if need be. Also Hero is the master of the of hundreds of versions of the cravate. SD is the host for many a violence party! Chris Hero has many versions of Hero’s Welcome and The Hero Sandwich. Dragon has the curb stomp and the three versions of dreaded Psycho Driver. So on paper this one appears to be dead even… Overall, really I think this one is worth double the price of admission alone. Expect something to remember here…. My Prediction?: Super Dragon (furthering Chris Hero's losing streak in 1st time ever Dream Matches) perhaps setting up a rematch with Samoa Joe in the near future. PWG Championship Match Frankie Kazarian © vs. Samoa Joe Last time on MacGyver! At "The Secret Of The Ooze" Colt Cabana took the PWG champion Frankie Kazarian to his limit and nearly came away with the all the bananas. If not for Cabana's manager Mr. Vanderpyle "mistakenly" tripping him up, giving Frankie the opening he needed to plant "The Wave of the Future" and win the match. Then out of nowhere Brad Bradley and Babi Slymm hit the ring and attacked the fallen Cabana! Soon after Frankie and Vanderpyle joined in on the assault! It had been a set up all along! The new factions stood in triumph over their foe and proclaimed themselves "The First Family" of PWG and announced that they would no longer be taken lightly. Now with all his enemies taken out and with new allies by his side, Frankie Kazarian looks to be unstoppable. Christopher Daniels, Spanky, AJ Styles, American Dragon, Hardkore Kidd, Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, Joey Ryan and many others have all tried and all ultimately failed to take out Kazarian in PWG.... so what makes Samoa Joe think he's any different? Samoa Joe's story: Samoa Joe earned this title shot by doing something no man had ever been able to do before. He slayed the Super Dragon (another man who looked to be unstoppable in PWG) This wasn't just a mere victory either, Joe got the W in perhaps the most humbling way possible, by beating SD so severely that he was unable to return to the ring by the 20 count. Samoa Joe had now ad merged as the man to beat in PWG. So it's no surprise that now Samoa Joe, already the ROH World title holder is looking to further establish his nation wide dominance by adding PWG's top prize to his collection! But in order to accomplish that goal... he'll have to go through the nearly unbeatable Frankie Kazarian. Now the match is set, Frankie Kazarian Vs. Samoa Joe. Perhaps PWG's two most unstoppable forces will collide. On September 4th something has got to give. Past History?: They have met a few times in the past in promotions such as UPW. But to date their most notable match accured in the 2001 APW King of the Indies tourney, where Joe defeated Frankie by submission in an excellent opening round contest. PWG records: Samoa Joe is 5-1-1 in singles matches (The lost by way of DQ) and Frankie Kazarian is a very impressive 13-3-1 overall (Including a victory over the one man Samoa Joe has never been able to beat in SoCal, American Dragon) Thoughts: I just got done watching their 2001 APW match a little while ago and thought it was a very good albeit short match. And just think of how much these two have improved since then... it's incredible. Now with it on a larger stage and given more time... I think we'll see something special here. This will be a very monumental match not only in ring but also in terms of PWG storylines. I expect something major to spring out of this match. Maybe a Samoa Joe encounter with American or Super Dragon, Maybe Adam Pearce will return to get payback on Frankie and Vanderpyle? And what about Joe and Frankie's respective PWG stables? Will they play apart in the match? And what about Scarecrow's brain? All and all, I truly believe people will be talking about this one after it's all said and done. Prediction: Tough choice, I got to go with Frankie Kazarian. I don't see him losing the title this soon. Also set to appear: SBS' Excalibur & Disco Machine, The AXP's Quicksilver! Revolution Pro Heavyweight champion Chris Bosh! The Bollywood Bombshells Charles Mercury & Top Gun Talwar! Supa Badd! Human Tornado! Los Rojos Locos! Big Babbi Slymm! and Brad Bradley! But wait... that's not all! Not wanting to be outdone by the recent cinematic return of beloved 70's super dog BENJI. PWG has announced a big return of it's own! HOOK BOMBERRY! A long awaited return to say the least as Bomberry was on the fast track to success in PWG before a broken leg took him out of action for nearly a year. Now he should be looking to make up for lost time and make an impact in a hurry. So take that Benji! ya damn mutt! My prediction on what else could be added to the card? : Well, on the flyer that leaked out, it listed Excalibur/Disco Vs. The AXP as being on the card, but it now looks like that match (and Scorpio Sky) have been removed. So here are just some guesses of what else PWG may have in store for us: Top Gun/Mercury Vs. Los Rojos Locos, SBS Vs. Tornado/Supa Badd (in what could be a comedy classic), Quicksilver Vs. Hook Bomberry, Chris Bosh Vs. Quicksilver, Or maybe an 8/6-man tag of some sort. But hey you never know what to expect from PWG! In the past we've seen surprise debuts from the likes of CM Punk, Teddy Hart and Steve Corino... so who know just who or what PWG has up it's sleeves! There you go, this in my opinion, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s 2nd most stacked card to date (Behind “a Reason for the Season”) all of the announced matches have the potential to end up stealing the whole show. So if you live ANYWHERE near the Los Angeles area, please do yourself a favor and come check this out. Bring friends! If you don't have any friends... umm well quickly make some before Sept. 4th and bring them! Yeah I know it’s on Labor Day weekend…. but who care! I have a feeling that if you miss this one you’ll end up regretting it! And hey if you happen to be an ROH fan reading this, who has never seen PWG and is always hearing people talk about PWG and wrestlers like Chris Hero, B-Boy, Super Dragon, Bobby Quance and are wondering what all the crazy talk is about. Then here is your chance to come experience them live! Just GO already! But if however some unfortunate twist of fate (like having a broken leg, or perhaps if you live on a dirt farm in Northern Iowa, or if you attend the University of Kentucky with the UK Kid) will prevent you from being able to attend the event live. Don't fret! You can enjoy PWG brand action from your own living room! Basement!!! Or Van down by the river!!!!! By purchasing a top notch PWG DVD from http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or http://www.Highspots.com !!!!! Including the newly released 44 Ways To Kill You With a Pimento featuring SBS Vs. Josh Prohibition/M-Dogg 20, Adam Pearce Vs. Babi Slymm, Bobby Quance Vs. Ricky Reyes, The Show stealing B-Boy Vs. Scorpio Sky, a hilarious 6-man opener and more! Also the newly released PWG "Rocktoberfest" featuring Samoa Joe Vs. B-Boy, SBS Vs. X-Foundation, A 4-way world title match, CM Punk Vs. Steve Corino, A hilarious 8-man tag match and even MORE! Check them out.... And for all you Jack Benny-esque economists out there, you will be pleased to learn that PWG DVDs now start at the incredibly low price of only 14.95!!! (a full $5 lower than most Indy's charge for DVDs) So buy one won't you? Heck at that price, buy 2!... watch one and keep the extra in a dry place with your Batman back issues, It'll be worth money one day! Promise. So there you have it, thank you so much for reading and for the great response this thing has been getting. Please leave any feedback, overdue library books or what ever you want to add. Right here. Oh before I go, I have to say that you may not a PWG Preview from me next month. As I could find myself without a computer for a while. So if you don't see a preview next month... that's the reason. All just leave you all with a favorite quote of mine… "Big Bucks, Big Bucks, No whammies, STOP!" It's metaphor for life isn't it?
-
Good, that's what they get for those awful ECW games. Plus for the fact that you couldn't pick who you faced in WarZone... yet there was a "Burp and Fart" mode. And please stay dead... won't you?

American Dragon added to next 4 IWA-MS shows
PsychoDriver replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Christ that's awesome. American Dragon Vs. Chris Hero 2/3 falls! I smell a MOTYC.... TPI is looking to be the best week of wrestling ever. -
Mine would be exclusively indy anyway... as I don't really follow anything else at the moment. 1. Super Dragon 2. Chris Hero 3. American Dragon 4. Homicide 5. Scott Lost Just missing the cut this time: Samoa Joe, Spanky, Excalibur, B-Boy, Havana Pitbulls, Adam Pearce, Alex Shelley and Joey Ryan.
-
"OMFG" CHRIS HERO VS. SUPER DRAGON!!!! Huge mark out moment as they are my 2 favorite wrestlers going right now. Heck the last time my two favorite wrestlers at the time met so was probably when Hulk Hogan Met The Ultimate Warrior at WM6. Really really can't wait for that one.
-
Heenan, Jesse Ventura and PWG's Excalibur would be my picks.
-
Good review, If I didn't already own it... I'd go out and buy it after that.

Other: Frankie Kazarian.

Hmm well UK Kid is no Chris Hero but he'll do. I saw him in a very good match with Joey Ryan from GSCW, so I know he can deliever the goods... especially with a guy like Super Dragon. The rest of the card looks very good as well. The 6-man looks insane, Joe Vs. Frankie should be excellent, Lost Vs. Ryan could steal the show, AXP Vs. SBS (from the flyer) should just ooze fun, PLUS one of my favorites CHRIS HERO! The return of Hook Bomberry! (a man I expect to make a huge impact in PWG) Bradley, Slymm and all the regs. This show will rule. Expect another preview a little bit before the show

Final Roster for PS2's WWE SmackDown vs. RAW
PsychoDriver replied to David Blazenwing's topic in Video Games
That sucks. Granted I usually play as CAWs, but it's still upsetting to see the lack of London, Kidman, Noble, Hurricane, Spike Dudley ETC I blame it on the character voice feature. They'd be able to add in more wrestlers if they didn't have to waste all that time recording pointless voice overs. Oh well, on the bright side... Bret Hart is a fantastic addition. I hope Owen is in as well... -
Oh, Yet another reason why the show should have taken place on the first booked 8/7 instead of 8/14. Thanks ROH

Some thoughts: - Heel Frankie is so much cooler than Face Frankie (and that's saying something) - Colt Cabana is one funny SOB. - The gauntlet opener was great fun. Tornado's Slam Dunk Rana was one of the greatest comedy spots I've ever seen. Not sure if many people caught this but Excalibur also Tombstoned Top Gun on to a set up chair on the outside... Sick. - Is it just me or do Los Rojos Locos seem alot better than the Ballards were? - I was upset that Bosh wasn't there. I was looking forward to that match and thought it may have led to Scott Lost choosing Bosh as his new partner to form like a "darkside" X-Foundation. Oh Well it could still happen... - Ryan Vs. Quicksilver: Turned out real good. Alot working on the arm in this one. Cool spot where Ryan moonsaulted to the floor from the buckle. Never seen him do that before. Just too bad the crowd didn't seem to be paying attention to this one. - Slymm/Bradley Vs. Brandom/Apollo: seemed like the ultimate "random tag match" at the beginning but turned into a fun albeit squash type match. Slymm/Bradley worked pretty well as a team, and I was very impressed with Brandon. I'd like to see him get some singles matches in PWG. Honestly I don't remember anything Apollo did... - PUMA Vs. Josh: This was very good, they really seemed to click in there. Best I've seen Josh look in some time. He impressed me and I apologize for the "He's like the wind" comment I made in my preview of the show. Puma wins after a neat Cloverleaf type move. -Colt Vs. Frankie Kazarian: This was entertaining as hell. My 2nd favorite of the night. Colt and Frankie just have great chemistry. I'd love for TNA or ROH to book this match so they can see how great Frankie can be in there. Frankie wins after Vanderplye "mistakenly" trips Colt. Leading him into the wave of the future. - I'm liking the new Frankie/Slymm/Bradley/Vanderplye faction. Finally we can "Boo" Vanderplye again! Slymm/Bradley should work well as heels too. Oh and this bit was just screaming for a future Adam Pearce return... and I hope that happens sooner rather than later. - CM Punk Vs. Donovan Morgan: Ok what can I say could this one? I liked the Stevie Richards references (because I'm a big fan of Stevie) but not much else. This was slow, kinda boring and very disjointed. And people conplained about Punk Vs. Corino from June... at least that was "ha ha" funny. What the hell happened to Morgan? First I see him peeing on a wall outside the building than he pretty much pisses over what could have been a solid match. And what the heck happened with Ricky Reyes? - SD Vs. Samoa Joe: This one really delieved. It was very well worked, it was disturbingly stiff at times and well it was just a hell of a fun match. One of the best in PWG history. I think just maybe this one will convert of few of Super Dragon's unbelievers (Aka alot of the moron ROH lemmings) as it really showed a new side of Super Dragon. If there is one reason to buy the DVD it's this match... - It also provided perhaps the best visual in PWG history as Samoa Joe dived on to SD sending him flying backward right into the hard camera. Sending it crashing to the floor. Geeze... I hope that looks good on tape. - That thud that SD made when he landed the dragon twister on the floor was fairly sick as well. - At first I was dissapointed in the count finish as the match was going so well, I wanted to see a positive finish (and SD never even Curb stomped him!) But thinking about it.... it was a perfect ending. As it will no doubt lead to a great feud that will probably draw alot of money, helping PWG further rocket into the wrestling stratosphere. - Overall this was a very fun transitional show for PWG that planted the seeds for what should be an outstanding rest of the year for PWG. If awesomeness was an olympic event... PWG would get the gold. -Also just got done watching the "Pearce in Vegas" bit on "the musical" DVD. Crap that thing is really hilarious. And just further proves that Pearce really needs to return to PWG... it just isn't the same without him. Heck put him under a mask as Los Pearceo Loco... just bring him back. Ok well according to Joey Ryan's site PWG returns Sept. 4th with Joey Ryan Vs. Scott Lost Ladder match already booked. Don't miss that one....
-
Indeed, the Punk-Morgan match was just dull and nothing much of note happened. Kinda odd that one of the worst matches in PWG history would be followed by one the best (SD Vs. Joe) I'll post more thoughts on this later....

I'm buying this thing ASAP. Bout time Alf arrived on DVD.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Presents "The Secret Of Th
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Question: what time is it? Answer: No not Hammer time, no not even apple blossom time... it's time for the 11th edition of PWG:Thoughts and Predictions! "The Secret of the Ooze" Edition! Call your friends! Call yo momma! Oh and before I get started, let me announce that you can now also find this write up at a website that should be familiar to theSmartMarks board regs, the fabulous http://www.paradisecityninjas.bravehost.com with an introduction to PWG (which includes a horrible brady bunch referance) and a few other extra things included as well. So check that out... Hot off of their biggest event to date, PWG is set to kick off their 2nd year of operation with yet another big show called "The Secret of the Ooze"! Now let's get to the matches! Tag Team Gauntlet Match (Order Of Entry To Be Determined By 2/3 Fall Rock-Paper-Scissors Backstage) Supa Badd & Human Tornado vs. Los Rojo Locos vs. Phoenix Star & Quicksilver vs. Disco Machine & Excalibur vs. Top Gun Talwar & Charles Mercury First let's meet the teams! Team #1: Supa Badd and Human Tornado PWG record while teaming (counting multi man tags): 1-2 The Human Tornado debuted on the SoCal scene last November and instantly became one of the most popular performers SoCal has to offer. (Trust me I was there for his RevPro debut, the fans just went ape shit for him just by seeing him) Not an easy thing to pull off by any means but due to his unique and entertaining persona, incredible leaping ability and a healthy dose of charisma, The Human Tornado made it look easy. Tornado is probably one of SoCal's real hidden treasures. If WWE or TNA doesn't pick this guy up one day it'll be a shame (seriously the guy has tons of potential and will just be insanely great in a few years. Keep an eye out for him) His partner for this show is Supa Badd. The rather tall and lanky Supa Badd has been one of the more beloved cult favorites in SoCal for a years now. Known for performing his trademark pre-match push-ups... Supa Badd is just comedy gold and can get the crowd going with the best of them. Put them both together and you very well may have the greatest comedy tag team you will find anywhere in the wrestling world today (I dare you to watch one of their matches and not at least crack a smile) but can they defeat 4 other teams hungry for victory and possibly tacos? I think they can, but will depend on if their Rock-Paper-Scissors (Called Ro Sham Bo by the diehards, if you actually believe R-P-S even has diehard fans!) skills can get them a late entrance into the match. Here's a tip guys, pick ROCK! Good ole rock... never fails. Chances of winning: Fair but slight. But It's not wether you win or lose, it's how good you look doing it! And if you judge by that criteria... this team can't be beat! Team #2: Los Rojos Locos (Ok they are the Ballard Brothers in masks but much like the "Ooze" let's just keep that a secret ok? As only those on NBC's "Secrets of Pro Wrestling" are allowed to reveal wrestling's secrets) PWG teaming record: 5-3 After being sent packing from PWG by the X-Foundation at "44 ways" The Ballards have devised the perfect way to sneak back into PWG. By wrestling under masks as Mexican team "Los Rojos Locos" (an old gimmick the team had done in 1998) Why do they have to win this match? while PWG has yet to announce anything official... you have to assume the winners of this gauntlet will be first in line for the shot at the unstable PWG tag team champions The X-Foundation. So if Los Rojo Loco's win here they could in turn end up killing two birds with one stone Bird #1: If victorious they'd be in line for a shot at revenge against The X-Foundation who forced their alter egos The Ballards out of PWG. Bird #2: Capturing The PWG tag titles could force PWG to give them their jobs back. I'd say more so than any other team in this match, this is a must win for Los Rojo Locos. As their very careers may depend on it... Likelihood of winning?: Very High. If I had a farm I'd bet it on them... Team #3: Phoenix Star and Quicksilver PWG Teaming record: This will be their first time teaming up in PWG (though they have teamed at least twice in Revolution Pro 6-man tags) However their overall PWG records are Phoenix Star: 1-3 and Quicksilver: 6-5 With both their normal tag partners unavailable (Star's Los Luchas partner Zorke is out with an injury, and Silver's AXP partner Scorpio Sky is on a month long tour of Osaka Pro in Japan) these two amazing high flyers will have to work together if they want to be successful in this match. That shouldn't be a problem as are both well seasoned in the arts. Nope not in the art of Tai Chee or even the art of Macromay but in the sometimes lost art of tag team wrestling! Phoenix Star being formally one half of the AWS tag champions (with Zokre) and Quicksilver has held both the PWG Tag titles (with Chris Bosh) and AWS tag titles (with Scorpio Sky) Plus take into account that know each other very well and have always worked amazingly smooth in the ring against each other in the past (Check out their match at RevPro's REV. J 2003) but will this translate into enough tag team continuity to get the W in this one? Well, Win, Lose or Draw (or whatever other 80's game show starring Burt Reynolds you want to mention) they should make for a very exciting team and could be the sleeper team in this match. Likelihood of winning?: Same as Ralph Nader's. But hey... Nader could surprise ya! Team#4: 2/3 of S.B.S. (with Super Dragon) Disco Machine and Excalibur PWG teaming record: 2-2 This one should be very interesting. Will former PWG Tag title co-holder Excalibur find the same success with this combination of SBS as he did with championship partner Super Dragon? And what exactly is up with Disco Machine? A few months ago Disco Machine assumed leadership of the "Sexual Aggression" stable (who were once involved in a heated feud with SBS) Now for the first time since then he will once again team with SBS stable-mate Excalibur. So the question has to be asked... just where does Disco Machine's allegiance lie? Is it with his long time tag partner Excalibur? With his new allies Top Gun Talwar and Charles Mercury? or is it with those moderately priced Little Debbie snack cakes? Chance of winning?: Good, but it could be better (sorta like Vanilla Coke) Team #5: 2/4 of "Sexual Aggression" (with Disco Machine and Chris Bosh) Top Gun Talwar and Charles Mercury: PWG teaming record: 2-3 I like analogies so I'll throw one out here. You could say that Top Gun Talwar and Charles Mercury have been to PWG, what the Buffalo Bills are to the NFL. Sure they can get to the big matches but they have never been able to win when it counted (they were even the first two eliminated from the guerrilla games match) So could this end up being the match where their cold streak snaps? Afterall the Buffalo Bills have since ended up winn... oh wait no they haven't. On second thought maybe I don't like analogies that much afterall... Anyway where was I? Oh yeah, can Top Gun Talwar and Charles Mercury finally get on the winning track? I'd say out of all the teams in this match, Mercury/Top Gun just may have the most to prove here as this will be their chance to finally get a win when it matters. Also again you must take Disco Machine (the man who pledged to lead them to greatness) into consideration. Just where does he stand in all this? Does Disco hold the key to their victory in this match? Last Saturday's lotto numbers?: 9, 15, 26, 30, 43, Mega Number: 20 This team's chance at winning? If history tells us anything, not so good. But what does history know anyway? If it was so great, how come everyone in it is dead? My Thoughts: There you have it, 5 teams each their own story and motivations to win. But what happens when you combine these 5 exciting SoCal tag teams into one gauntlet match? Well I suppose it could create a vortex that will suck us all into infinity, ending humanity as we know it or... it could just produce a hell of a fun match. Take your pick! personally I'm leaning toward the vortex thing. My Prediction?: The Bal... er Mexican sensation's Los Rojo Locos. "Photogenic" Chris Bosh vs. ""The Technical Wizard" Joey Ryan Past History!: They feuded as apart of the PWG owners Vs. AXP/Bosh/Mercury/Talwar angle early in the year. and they met in 3 tag matches during the course of that feud. Including Bosh and then partner Quicksilver defeating The X-Foundation to win the PWG tag titles on 3/27. The match that started the dissension between the X-Foundation which later snowballed into all the problems they are having right now. This however will be their first ever singles meeting. Both are coming off big losses at the last show, so they should have something to prove here. Joey Ryan should be looking to get back on the winning track and further cementing his spot as main player in PWG, while Chris Bosh should be looking to establish himself as a force to reckon with in PWG singles division. PWG singles records: Joey Ryan 3-3 and Chris Bosh 0-2 My Thoughts: Ok I'm guessing not many of you read the card for this show and said "Holy S**T JOEY RYAN VS. CHRIS F'N BOSH! OMG!1!1!! I'm booking a flight to LA!" but by no means should anyone overlook this match or Chris Bosh. Bosh has just improved so much this past year. Watch a Bosh match from 2003 and then watch a more recent one, IMO he's like a totally different performer in there. He's developed an entertaining heel persona, he's alot crisper in the ring and has gained a solid in ring presence. Also he's added a truly awe-inspiring version of The Steiner Screwdriver to his arsenal. Which has to be one of the most deadly finishers around today. Another thing to keep in mind is that Bosh has alot of momentum going his way, as he had what could be called his breakout match in RevPro this past June when he beat Super Dragon in an amazing bout to win the RevPro title (that match was named SoCal MOTM for June beating out such SoCal matches as Ultimo Dragon Vs. American Dragon, Samoa Joe Vs. B-Boy, SBS Vs. X-Foundation and Samoa Joe Vs. Shinya Makabe for that honor. That's an impressive feat) So by no means should Bosh be taken lightly (no pun intended!) On the other side of the coin we have Joey Ryan, one of the best SoCal has to offer. And for the first time in months Joey won't have the distraction of rival/tag partner Scott Lost to worry about (as Lost is currently touring with Osaka Pro in Japan). For whose not familiar with Joey Ryan, let me just add that he didn't win the nickname "Technical Wizard" in a card game or on a crooked 50's gameshow. He earned it! month after month, week after week, year after year by displaying it in the ring. You won't see alot of flash from Joey... just a hell of a technical based match. So put the super babyface technical wizardry and comic book collecting nature of Mr. Joseph Ryan with the admerging heel superstar of Christopher Bosharelli and what do you get? IMO you should get an excellent match up and my pick for the sleeper match of the evening. My Prediction: Chris Bosh pulls an upset. Josh Prohibition vs. PUMA Past History? None. This will a first time ever meeting between the two! PWG Records: PUMA is currently 8-3 overall in PWG and Josh is 0-1. My Thoughts: Josh Prohibition eh? Well as 80's heart throb, star of such movies as "Dirty Dancing" and "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" and not to forget short lived singing sensation Patrick Swayze may have crooned about him: "He's like the wind" Meaning sometimes he's very enjoyable but other times.... he just blows in unfavorable directions. In other words from what I've seen, Josh can be hit and miss. Although I haven't seen him in enough recent singles matches to tell if he's improved as much as say M-Dogg-20 has since his first CZW stint. I do remember being quite fond of some of Josh's CZW work though (His chemistry with M-Dogg is simply magical and he was pretty good on the mat with Nick Berk as well) Well, If Josh brings his A-game (or if he brings TV's the A-Team) to the show, he'll produce something to remember. His opposition? A man so nice they named him twrice! PUMA!/PINOY BOY!/TJ PERKINS! By any name he is one of the fastest rising stars on the west coast and real force to contend with in PWG. With his lightning fast kicks, great chain wrestling ability, and a bit of lucha at his disposal, PUMA should prove to be a formidable foe for Josh to overcome here. Now on paper this could appear to be a clash of styles, but I really believe they will blend nicely in there. Why do I think that? Well from what I've seen Josh has worked the best with guys like Nick Berk and M-Dogg 20. Well PUMA is probably a better mat worker than Berk and he's not to far behind M-Dogg in the high flying department. How's that for logic eh? I know I already said Bosh Vs. Ryan was my pick for sleeper match of the night... but I think one just may steal that honor if everything clicks. My Prediction: Josh with a little help from Brad Bradley. CM Punk vs. Ricky Reyes The Past History!: This will be their first ever one on one meeting. They have however met two other times in the ring in tag matches, once in The IWA:MS tag tourney where Punk and Cabana beat Reyes and PUMA and once in ROH on 8/7, Where Reyes' Havana Pitbulls defeated CM Punk and Colt Cabana for the ROH tag titles. Also they both happened to be trained by the same man, Kevin Quinn. Sorry, I couldn't find anything more than that. I'd really would have liked to have been able to say something about a deep seeded past history of hatred between the Straight Edge elitists and the Cubans that dates back to the days of Cuban military dictator, Fulgencio Batista or something, but sadly evidence of such could be found. Closest thing I found is that Pat Boone and Desi Arnaz really weren't very close friends. That's good enough right? Overall PWG records: CM Punk 3-3 and Ricky Reyes: 6-3 My Thoughts: The hits just keep on coming with PWG. On one side you have Havana Pitbull Ricky Reyes a very versatile wrestler, highly skilled in many facets of in ring competition. A real rising star in the world of wrestling. While he may still be best known as one half of the amazing Havana Pitbulls tag team, don't overlook the year he's had as a single. Already this year as a single, he's been in the very prestigious Super 8 Tourney, Made a huge impact in the east coast with ROH, not to mention having a terrific year in SoCal with PWG and NJPW-USA. So far this year he's produced alot of outstanding solo outings with the likes of Samoa Joe, Teddy Hart, Rocky Romero, PUMA, Apollo Kahn and many others. So by no means overlook him as a singles wrestler... or he may stiff you like he did Teddy Hart. On the other side you have indy wrestling's 60 minute man! One of wrestling more unique personalitys CM Punk! another well rounded in ring performer, that should be no stranger to anyone reading this. His top notch work against with the likes of such varied competition such as: Samoa Joe, Chris Hero, Homicide, Raven, AJ Styles, Terry Funk, Super Dragon, American Dragon and many many others should more than speak for itself. As for the match itself, seeing as both were in part trained by the same man... I think they will go the extra mile here to have a good match. Sorta like an old kung-fu movie where 2 students from the same sensei go all out for pride and to show who is the true top student, #1 son, best in show, yokozuna or something like that. Any way you slice it, this one has the potential to steal the show, so I'd be on the lookout for very good match here. My prediction: Tough one to predict... but I gotta go with CM Punk. After getting some help from Brad Bradley (a man Reyes cheated out of a victory against PUMA last show) Super Mania Dream Match Super Dragon vs. Samoa Joe Past history? This will be their first ever one on one meeting (deja vu!) They have only met in ring one other time and that was B-Boy, Frankie Kazarian, & Samoa Joe vs. Messiah, Super Dragon, & Tech 9 in a 6-man tag in MPW back in 2002. Also SD and Joe were tag partners and allies for a short time in EPIC Pro Wrestling. PWG records: Samoa Joe is 4-1-1 (The one loss by way of DQ) in singles matches and Super Dragon is an impressive 15-4 overall. My Thoughts: A long awaited dream match to say the least. For perhaps the first time ever, Super Dragon, a man known for his near perfect fluentity in the universal language of violence... will have to face a man who is his equal when it comes to dishing out the beat-downs, in the form of Samoa Joe! It's a case an irresistible force meeting an unmovable object with a shit load of force of it's own! So what should you expect in a match where both men can bring the brutality in more flavors than Baskin-Robbins? Here's what I'm thinking: Last month in PWG we saw an excellent in match story where CM Punk tried to out "asshole" Super Dragon. By taunting him, stealing his curb stomp and basically just pissing him off. This time I think we'll see something similar. I'd like to see them have Super Dragon try to bully Joe in typical SD fashion only to have the much bigger Joe turn it around on him. Example: I envision an amazing exchange where SD gives Samoa Joe the violence party... only to have Joe reverse it and give SD a stiff violence party of this own. Taking away SD's "bully factor" adds alot of intrigue and whole new dimension to his matches. Just watch his matches with Babi Slymm and Vic Grimes for examples, and neither of them ever had nearly the overwhelming force possessed by Samoa Joe! There are so many things they could do and so many places they can go with this one. I don't see anyway this won't be an incredibly fun and memorable match. And quite honestly I'm looking forward to this match even more so than the originally booked Samoa Joe Vs. American Dragon match (and that's saying something as Joe Vs. AD from PWG's The Musical is what I consider to be PWG's greatest match and I'm sure the rematch would have more than topped that one) Expect a classic here.... My Prediction?: Another tough one, I wanna say Super Dragon but somehow I think Samoa Joe will win here. PWG Championship Title Match "The Future" Frankie Kazarian © vs. "Classic" Colt Cabana Backstory! In the biggest match in PWG history Frankie Kazarian finally vanquished his long time rival Adam Pearce after a memorable loser leaves town cage match at "The Reason for the Season" to recapture the PWG title. However after the match, Frankie was outraged to find the fans had actually started cheering for Adam Pearce, a man who had caused him such hardship and misery in the past. Taking the fans' cheers for Pearce as being disrespect for him. Frankie Kazarian turned on the fans who once supported him. If they didn't respect him... he wouldn't respect them. Which fueled him to destroy Pearce with a chair and also turn on his friend Babi Slymm by unleashing some shots on him as well. It's as if Daniel-san had left Mr. Miyagi and sided with the dreaded Terry Silver of the Cobra Kai! "Live or die man... Live or die!" Where will this dark new path lead Frankie? Only time will tell.... Meanwhile! earlier at "The Reason for the Season" Adam Pearce's Chicago ally Colt Cabana was victorious in a 3-way dance against Babi Slymm and Excalibur to win the 1# Contendership for the PWG title. Not to mention what would later turn into a shot at revenge on Frankie for sending his friend Pearce out of PWG. So the match is set for August 14th Frankie Kazarian Vs. Colt Cabana. Can Cabana defeat the now villainous Frankie Kazarian and claim the PWG title for his own? and just where does Babi Slymm fit into this? A friendly message to the Kazarian naysayers: Ok first things first. To all those new PWG fans out there you may be saying "I don't like Frankie Kazarian Blah Blah TNA Blah Blah" Let me just say that you've never truly seen Frankie Kazarian untill you've seen him in the bright lights of SoCal! It's like Superman in a yellow sun solar system, when he's away from it he isn't totally at his best but when he's in it... he's nearly unstoppable! Frankie is almost like a completely different wrestler here in SoCal (especially in PWG) So hold off on your Kazarian prejudice untill you've seen him in SoCal! Give him a chance... you'll be pleasantly surprised. Ok enough of that, let's get to the match. My thoughts: Oddly enough this is the only match on the card that's ever happened before. In fact it'll be taking place almost one year to the day that Frankie Kazarian first fought Colt Cabana in APW-LA (8-16-03) That first match (which Frankie won) was an excellent contest, and both of them showed great chemistry in the ring together. However for some reason their APW-LA match never did quite get the praise it rightfully deserved. But now with the match on a larger stage and with a nice bit of storyline motivation behind it... it should turn out even better! Match the ungodly charismatic dynamo known as Colt Cabana with the natural cocky heel coolness of Frankie Kazarian and you've got yourself something special. Little tip though I think this one will have to be experienced live to be fully comprehended (sorta like a Gallagher concert... only with more watermelons!) My Prediction: Frankie Kazarian retains the title and improves his overall PWG record to 13-3-1 (adding Cabana to his list of PWG Victims which includes the likes of Spanky, Chris Daniels, AJ Styles, American Dragon, Adam Pearce, Scott Lost, Joey Ryan, Hardkore Kidd, Lil Cholo, M-Dogg-20, Babi Slymm, Jonny Storm among others) Now how much would you expect to pay for such an outstanding card? $126.99? $49.95? $34.99? $19.99? No! Would you believe that you get all this for just one easy payment of just $15.00!!! You heard me right you get the long awaited Samoa Joe Vs. Super Dragon dream match, The NASA grade Frankie Kazarian Vs Colt Cabana, the Kid tested, Mother approved goodness of PUMA Vs. Josh Prohibition!, The critically acclaimed CM Punk Vs. Ricky Reyes! The Gem Mint 10 Joey Ryan Vs. Chris Bosh! and the FIVE team (Yes you heard right, that's 5 teams!) tag gauntlet match! If purchased individually, these top quality matches would cost you upwards of $1852.75! But you can see them for only one easy payment of $15.00!! That's $0.75 a wrestler! Super Dragon vs. Samoa Joe added to PWGs Next Show
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Christ I go away for a few days and everything changes. I was just preparing to post my preview of the show. I guess I'll have to rewrite a bunch of it now... Yay more work for me! But on the extreme bright side SAMOA JOE VS. SUPER DRAGON is a freaking dream match. And should be alot more unique than JOE Vs. AD would have been. I really can't wait for that one... -
That could be interesting. Maybe they could book some local talent as well.

I see someone watches WWE, NWA-TNA and... well nothing else. Where is American Dragon? Chris Hero? Alex Shelley? Homicide? Briscoes?

That's the best wrestling news I've heard in some time as American Dragon Vs. Chris Hero has been on the top of my list of dream matches for a while now. Can't wait for that one...

The Story of XTREME PRO WRESTLING

Apon reading this, I seem to have found a huge oversight on your part Barber. You seem to have totally left out what Rob ate for breakfast on the morning of May 6th 1997! It was waffles man... it was waffles! Everyone knows that... Seriously though, very detailed stuff there, perhaps overly detailed? But anyway I can't wait to read the rest of this. -
Well, I've never been to an east coast show yet so I can't speak from personal experience there so I'll take your word. Like I said it all depends on where you sit. Just move away from the morons and you'll never even notice them.
-
I've been been to loads of SoCal shows and I'd disagree with that. SoCal crowds like crowds anywhere can be bad sometimes (It varies depending on where you sit actually) but I wouldn't call them worst than the bad east coast crowds I've heard stories about or witnessed on tape. At least in SoCal you only have maybe about 10-15 morons tops, while in the East it appears you can have several hundred at any given show.

Nope, he hasn't been back. Though during his appearance he said he'd be back and then he sorta challenged Super Dragon. Michrome of these boards has 2 reviews at http://www.smarkschoice.com/forum/index.php?showforum=53 Jay formally of these boards reviewed Pimpin In High Places: http://www.paradisecityninjas.bravehost.com/pwg.html Some at SCU: http://www.socaluncensored.com/modules.php...ewindex&catid=3 And there is a crap load on SoCalUncensored.com boards if you search for them. -

Good shows, "Kee_" wasn't one of PWG's best efforts but it was still good (mainly just that AD/Joe's tag match was lacking and Spanky seemed off his game other than that a fine show) "The Musical" IMO is probably the 2nd best PWG show yet (Behind the 1YA) and features the best match in PWG History Samoa Joe Vs. American Dragon. Not to mention a wild debut from Teddy Hart. And "88MPH" is excellent. Ebessan Vs. Kamen is worth the price of the event alone. Looking forward to your reviews on those.
