Some people are saying the Angle thing turns out to be a dream. Which would make sense... if not, wow what were they smoking when they wrote that one. Anyway, I found these clips of two of the new moves: Roderick Strong/Jamie Noble style gut buster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMZVGrFKtYc Curb Stomp (with sadly not much impact): And someone on GameFaqs posted this list of Special Table Moves: Triple H - Pedigree Kane - Chokeslam Edge - Spear (Table in Corner) Kurt Angle - Angle Slam John Cena - FU Undertaker - Chokeslam Batista - Batista Bomb Ric Flair - Pulling Piledriver Umaga - Splash in Corner (Table in Corner) Super Crazy - Hurricanrana (Table in Corner) Rob Van Dam - Big Splash from Turnbuckle Super Heavy - Powerbomb Heavy - DDT Cruiser - Bulldog It says it depends on what stance your wrestler has. So if you gave your Rhino CAW Edge's stance. He can gore someone thru a table. Neat addition. Also apparently all the "Stalking" moves like HBK's stomping superkick have been removed. Plus many submission moves like the Regal Stretch, Crossface Chickenwing and Trailer Hitch are now gone. As well as the "Three Stages of Hell" match option. Which really sucks...

IGN's Superstar countdown is complete, and they've started on the Legends with Hogan and Mankind http://ps2.ign.com/objects/820/820800.html Also here's a new Q and A: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 Developer Q&A – GamingRing.com Q: How many create a wrestler slots this year for the PS2 and the 360? A: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 contains 30 CAS slots. Q: How many years worth of story lines have been put into season mode this year? As we have heard comments from two to ten years. A: While Season Mode isn't broken up into actual "years,” the mode is persistent, meaning that players will be able play through the mode continuously. Also, compared to WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006, there are twice as many storylines in this year's Season Mode, so replayability is off the charts. Q: Any improvements to the Create-A-Belt this year like actually recognizing the current champion? A: Create -A-Championship is bursting out at the seams with a bunch of new content. In addition to all of the new C-A-C parts that have been added, players will be able to create their own custom spinner championship. As an added bonus, players will be able to manually spin their created spinner championships during SuperStar entrances. Q: How many unlockables will there be this year in the shop? A: There are 23 unlockable items in the WWE Shop, including Legends, move sets, vintage championships and more. There are also 118 unlockable items in the locker room shop, which can be used to decorate the locker room. Trophies are also making a return, as there are 14 different trophies that players can earn during Season Mode and Exhibition game play. Q: Will there be bonus classic championships again this year such as the hardcore and million dollar titles? If so, which ones are featured this year? A: Yes. In addition to the returning Hardcore and Million Dollar Championships, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007 will also feature the N.W.O. and Smoking Skull Championships. Q: On the subject of the PSP version, have the loading times been fixed this year for caws and other things? Or is it just a dreadful as last years was? A: Players will be happy to learn that, yes, the load times have been addressed and will be considerably shorter on the PSP version. Q: Have the top rope finishers been fixed this year? It seemed it was almost impossible to pull out moves like the 5 star frog splash last year due to the AI rolling and standing up as soon as you attempted to go for the move? A: Yes. Top rope finishing moves have been slightly tuned this year to eliminate the issue mentioned above. In WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, performing a successful top rope finishing move has been made a whole lot easier. http://gamingring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50531 We did a follow up with THQ on the alternate attire question to clear things up, and here is the ruling..... "Charles, This was an interpretation error on our end. Apologies. We only have three alternate attire options total in the game - not three for each SuperStar. The SuperStars with alternate attire are JBL, Triple H and Kane.

PWG Presents "Horror Business" on Saturday, October 21!
PsychoDriver posted a topic in General Wrestling
PWG Presents "Horror Business" on Saturday, October 21! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Hoopa, CA - Just days ago at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) "Self-Titled," fans were shocked when new World Tag Team champions crowned, that Davey Richards was not among them. Richards, who was granted a shot at the tag title as a part of winning the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, was scheduled to re-team with Super Dragon to face The Dynasty members, and tag champions, Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) at "Self-Titled." However, due to a conflict of dates, that match was pushed back to October 21. Davey was assured by Super Dragon that he and B-Boy, who took Richards' place, did not intend to win the titles, they just wanted revenge on The Dynasty and to injure Arrogance as severely as possible in preparation for "Horror Business" on October 21. Oh, how a well-placed Shining Wizard can change things. When PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood contacted Davey Richards to determine how he would use his wildcard (from his 2006 Battle of Los Angeles victory,) Richards was indecisive. Obviously, he was upset at Super Dragon and felt betrayed, but Davey also understands that professional wrestling is a sport of opportunities, and what one makes of them. Commissioner Winwood allowed Davey 24 hours to go over his options and best decide how to use his wildcard match, but Davey was unable to contact Super Dragon in that time (Super Dragon Office observes Columbus Day). With Davey unable to decide what his next move would be, Commissioner Winwood went ahead and set a lineup for "Horror Business" on October 21, but also allowed Davey to hold onto the wildcard for future use. Hopefully, the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles trophy presentation will help take away some of the bitter taste undoubtedly left in Davey Richards' mouth by B-Boy and Super Dragon. Speaking of a bitter taste, fans were unhappy once again with the PWG World Championship title reign of Joey Ryan, and the use of legal loopholes to his advantage. Ryan, who faced Human Tornado at "Self Titled," was originally scheduled to face El Snowflake (who is Human Tornado in disguise, believe it or not). Despite the fact that Tornado was victorious in the match, Joey Ryan pointed out that his title was on the line against El Snowflake, and not Human Tornado and because of this, the title could not change hands. Joey later said that this matter would be taken to the Supreme Court if need be, and that he has heard Justice Antonin Scalia has been seen wearing a "Who Wants A Mustache Ride?!" shirt around Washington D.C., and that the case would be a lock. While the PWG legal team pours of hours of footage looking for some type of precedent or lack thereof, Joey Ryan unfortunately retains the PWG World Championship, and will be able to defend his title at "Horror Business." With serious controversy surrounding both of PWG titles, Commissioner Winwood has determined the only way to resolve anything will be to return to The Gym At The Park in La Habra, CA for "Horror Business" on Saturday night, October 21 at 8:00PM! A mere ten days prior to Halloween, PWG's almost-Orange County return will feature: PWG World Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. El Generico - Prior to his title match with El Snowflake at "Self-Titled," PWG World Champion Joey Ryan proved that chivalry was dead and buried when he attacked Candice LeRae and piledrove her on a steel chair. Because Commissioner Dino Winwood was unable to attend, Quicksilver was promoted to Deputy Commissioner for one night only, and made his way to ringside to restore law and order. Unfortunately, a tin star doesn't mean that much to Joey Ryan, who viciously attacked Quicksilver and piledrove him on a steel chair, only relenting when El Generico came to his aid. With Quicksilver suffering a severe concussion and neck sprain, putting him out of action for 3 to 6 weeks, it fell on El Generico to get revenge. As luck would have it, Commissioner Winwood got back on the job just in time to prevent this from devolving into a street war, and granted El Generico a shot at revenge, and the title on October 21 at "Horror Business!" With a temporary injunction in place to prevent Human Tornado and all aliases, known or otherwise, from challenging for the title, Joey Ryan believes his title is safe. But El Generico, coming off what many consider to be a career best singles performance at the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, is fighting not only for his own personal glory, but a fallen comrade as well, and that may be enough motivation for a victory, even in the eyes of the law. PWG World Tag Team Championship Match - Single Fall B-Boy & Super Dragon © vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs. Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero) - When Commissioner Winwood promised Davey Richards he would be able to challenge for the PWG World Tag Team titles on October 21, no one expected Richards' former partner Super Dragon to be co-holding the titles. This made Davey reluctant to cash in his wildcard match and face his former partner, leaving Commissioner Winwood without a title match for "Horror Business." However, Dino had already penciled in the third attempted match between the Briscoe Brothers and the Kings of Wrestling for October 21, and what better incentive for showing up than a chance to fight for the PWG World Tag Team Championship? To make the match even more interesting, the Commish has decided that the match will be a single fall, meaning that the champions do not need to be pinned in order to lose the titles! This will be B-Boy & Super Dragon's first defense of the belts, and no other champions have had a tougher first title defense in PWG history. Why such a monumental challenge for the new tag team champions? It could be that Dino has faith in them, or he could just be looking to avoid a Super Dragon/Davey Richards confrontation somewhere down the line. The world may never know. "The Professional" Scott Lost vs. Davey Richards - With Davey Richards' reluctance to use his wildcard match, Commissioner Winwood had nothing to offer other than a shot at one of The Dynasty members who cost Davey the PWG World Tag Team titles. Fortunately, Davey is a relatively easy going man when it comes to matters of revenge, and in a very High Plains Drifter-ish way, is happy to get revenge slowly, just as long as everyone who deserves it gets it. Enter Scott Lost. As if losing the tag titles wasn't bad enough, he has to face Davey Richards, who seems intent on dismantling The Dynasty piece by piece. Will Scott's cohorts be able to save him from Davey's wrath, or will there be a pine box and a pair of silver dollars waiting for "The Professional?" "Photogenic" Chris Bosh vs. Human Tornado - Due to the temporary injunction filed by Joey Ryan's attorney, Human Tornado is unable to get another shot at the champ until he either loses the PWG World Championship, or the matter is out of the court's hands. Human Tornado is not a patient man, however he is a man with a very long memory. And that memory stretches back to the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles when on Night One, "Photogenic" Chris Bosh thought it'd be a grand idea to punch Candice LeRae in the face. Now Candice is not a weak girl by any stretch of the imagination, but Tornado has always made it clear that he is the only one allowed to "flex" his "pimp hand" on any members of his "stable." Will Chris Bosh's breach of locker room etiquette shift focus from Joey Ryan and allow The Dynasty to protect the title, or will Human Tornado "turning out" Bosh be a small detour on his way to claiming the PWG World Championship? TJ Perkins vs. Rocky Romero - The series between TJ Perkins and Rocky Romero is tied at one victory each, so PWG returns to La Habra, the site of the first encounter between these two men, for the rubber match. Will the almost-Orange County return prove to be good luck for Romero, or will Perkins use his momentum from this past weekend's victory to win the series at "Horror Business?" Scorpio Sky (w/ Jade Chung) vs. Matt Sydal - After defeating "The Future" Frankie Kazarian in the first ever Inter-gender First Blood Handicap Match at "Self-Titled," Scorpio Sky wanted a match that would raise his stock even further in the eyes of PWG fans. So after a few phone calls, Commissioner Winwood approached Matt Sydal with an offer for this match, but he also gave him a warning. Scorpio Sky has used some unscrupulous tactics in the past to defeat Frankie, and Sydal may be up against the same thing. He wasn't worried though, telling the Commissioner "I know I can beat Scorpio Sky in a wrestling match, and gosh darnit, I can beat him in a fight if it comes to that!" Will Matt Sydal's genial confidence be enough to overcome Scorpio Sky, Jade Chung, and possibly the rest of The Dynasty, or has Sydal just gotten himself in way over his head? Ronin vs. Shingo Takagi - At the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, Ronin lost his opening round match to Davey Richards. It seems that the first round loss may have inspired Ronin, who is now dedicating himself to wining the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles! With his impressive victory over Chasyn Rance this past weekend, Ronin felt he was ready to take on CIMA, the man Davey defeated in the final round of this year's tournament. Commissioner Dino Winwood thinks Ronin is being a little overly ambitious, and should secure a series of wins before throwing out challenges like that. However, Dino is not an unkind man, so after some late night calls ("9AM here is 1AM there?! They truly are a strange people!") he booked CIMA's Blood Generation stable mate, Shingo Takagi to take on Ronin at "Horror Business!" Will Ronin's hot streak continue, or will the Dragon Gate true-born Shingo Takagi prove that Ronin has a long way to go before the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles? Speaking of Dragon Gate, we would like to congratulate former PWG World Champion "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen on his debut with the Japanese promotion. Kevin has been victorious in both of his matches thus far, and on October 21 he will be facing Don Fuji in a Number One Contender Match for the Open The Dream Gate title currently held by Susumu Yokosuka. PWG and its staff wishes Kevin the best of luck. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Horror Business" takes place at the The Gym At The Park on Saturday, October 21 at 8:00PM. The Gym At The Park is located at 1885 Hacienda Rd., La Habra Heights, CA 90631. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. Write up stolen from Jay Doring: Note: Mark Briscoe suffered a rather painful injury at PWU on Friday, so the Briscoes weren't there. " 1. Rocky Romero def. TJ Perkins via the Ankle Lock (very similar ending to the KENTA/Suguira GHC jr. title match if you seen it.) 2. Ronin def. Shingo Takagi after two Death Valley Drivers. 3. Chris Bosh def. Human Tornado via Fisherman's Suplex after interference from Joey Ryan 4. Scorpio Sky def. Matt Sydal after Jade Chung hit Sydal with her boot. 5. Davey Richards def. Scott Lost after applying what looked like a modified AT Lock. 6. Super Dragon and B-Boy def. The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) to DENY the Kings their fourth set of tag titles when B-Boy reversed an inside cradle. 7. Joey Ryan "def." El Generico to retain the PWG title. Generico hit ref Rick Knox on a Yakuza Kick, and with the ref down Joey sprayed...some kind of spray in Generico's eyes, sending him to the floor. A fake El Generico (Chris Bosh) ran in and allowed himself to be pinned. Basic match notes: Romero/TJ was slightly better than their usual match, as they worked more intensely and did a lot of rough matwork. The ending was really cool, albeit (possibly) lifted from the match I mentioned. The Ronin PATH OF RAGE continues. Last month, Chasyn Rance, this month, Shingo Takagi. WHO'S NEXT? Match wasn't that great- Shingo seems to have trouble with guys who are roughly his size. Bosh/Tornado was a fine match, albeit I was disappointed these two didn't try as much crazy stuff (dives/bumps) as they do in their tag matches. However, Tornado's valet/EWF wrestler Candice LaRae took the biggest bump of the night, getting suplexed by Bosh onto a row of chairs. Sky/Sydal was also solid, although again more grounded than I expected. Sydal seemed to be having a lot of fun, playing a lot to the crowd more than he usually does. I haven't seen Davey and Scott's Super 8 match, but there were no problems with this - it was the most intense match of the night, solid body part psychology that paid off in the end. Of course, the big disappointment was the KOW were DENIED the 4-Crown. I liked the match quite a bit, (roughly ***1/2 if I have to rate it) but the Briscoes would have added a sprint element that would have brought the match up higher. Dragon seemed to be knocked loopy for a little bit, being out of position for some of the later spots - including a SCARY Claudio dive that happened six inches from me. Joey/Generico was a ton of fun - they tried to involve the now famous little blonde girl into their schtick, but I think it scared the girl a little bit. Generico continues his streak of great matches, and Joey's stooging as always was a blast to watch. They did a lot of the match outside, including a spot where Generico held Joey for the fans to hit. Generico actually dominated the vast majority of the match, and some patented Joey finishes were denied by the referee. The ending was definitely unique, I'll give it that. Attendance was around the 250 range, and strangely, just like last month, the crowd was dead for the majority of the show despite the much-improved venue and lineup. Announced for All Star Weekend 4: PWG Tag Team Titles: Super Dragon and B-Boy © vs. Roderick Strong and Davey Richards Additional talent confirmed (through their myspace pages): M-Dogg 20, Josh Prohibition, Chris Hero (Night 2 only) " -
PWG Presents "Self-Titled" on Friday, October 6! By SIlverback, PWG Staff Writer Orick, CA - Just over three weeks ago, Davey Richards overcame incredible odds in order to become the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament winner. Richards, who previously had a reputation as a fierce tag team competitor, is now poised to enter the upper echelon of PWG singles competitors. However, after his hard fought tournament victory over CIMA, Davey made it clear that he was not ready to dissolve his partnership with Super Dragon for singles glory, and the two would reunite to take on PWG World Tag Team Champions Arrogance ("Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost). Fans may remember it was Arrogance, with help from fellow Dynasty members Scorpio Sky & PWG World Champion Joey Ryan, ended Richards & Dragon's seemingly unstopable tag team title reign earlier this year. However, Davey will have to wait just a little longer to get his hands on his lost gold (in the title sense, not the Indiana Jones sense). Unfortunately for Davey Richards, due to a conflict of dates with American Legion Post #308, the PWG event originally set for October 7 has now been rescheduled one night earlier for Friday, October 6, 2006 at 8:00PM at the American Legion. This means that due to prior commitments, Davey Richards will be unable to make the show, so both his 2006 Battle of Los Angeles trophy presentation, and his shot at Arrogance for the PWG World Tag Team titles, have now been rescheduled for PWG's October 21 event. With the change of dates and the loss of 2006 Battle of Los Angeles champion for "Self-Titled," PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood has decided to make the best of the situation and hopes fans will enjoy what he has in store for PWG's eponymous event on Friday night, October 6 at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda! PWG World Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. El Snowflake - Diving off of the silver screen and into the hearts of PWG fans everywhere is El Snowflake! Fighting out Ejersa Goro, Harar, Ethiopia, El Snowflake took the place of the injured Human Tornado on the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles in the Four-Way elimination match for the PWG World Championship. With his unorthodox Lucha Libre technique, Snowflake forced the champion, Joey Ryan, to retreat from the ring and ultimately be counted out! While technically victorious in the match, the PWG World Championship does not change hands on a count out, so Joey once again retained the title. However, because of his victory over the PWG World Champion, El Snowflake was granted a title shot at "Self-Titled" by benevolent Commissioner Dino Winwood! Will El Snowflake be able to prevail without the element of surprise on his side, or will Joey Ryan have some new form of skullduggery in store for the competitor from the Dark Continent? PWG World Tag Team Match Arrogance ("Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) © vs. B-Boy & Super Dragon - With his regular tag team partner unable to make it, Super Dragon was given the option of waiting till October 21 to face Arrogance alongside Davey Richards, or to pick a new partner and have at them on October 6. Super Dragon, known for making rash decisions, actually took quite some time to consider this offer from Commissioner Winwood and ultimately chose to take the shot at Arrogance on October 6. When asked for a comment on the situation, Super Dragon Office responded with this statement: "While it is regrettable that Davey Richards is unable to team with Super Dragon on October 6, we hope that Mr. Richards, and anyone else who may question Mr. Dragon's decision remember what took place at 'Enchantment Under The Sea,' when Mr. Dragon was grievously injured by The Dynasty. We would also like to remind those who question the decision of the fact that Mr. Dragon was cost the chance at winning the [2006 Battle of Los Angeles] by Joey Ryan, a member of The Dynasty. Because of these two events, Mr. Dragon has chosen to team with B-Boy, who has also been repeatedly wronged by The Dynasty, in hopes of gaining some measure of revenge. Mr. Dragon would also like to remind fans that the titles cannot change hands if he or Mr. Boy were disqualified for unnecessary use of force, or some other long forgotten rule of professional wrestling, and if that were to occur, Arrogance may be extremely 'tender' for the title defense against Mr. Dragon & Mr. Richards on October 21." When reached for a rebuttal, Arrogance and The Dynasty had no response for what may be the most verbose death threat ever recorded. Intergender First Blood Handicap Match "The Future" Frankie Kazarian vs. Scorpio Sky & Jade Chung - At the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, fans were reminded of exactly how many irons The Dyansty had in the fire, so to speak. While they have made enemies of seemingly everyone on the PWG roster, there are few that have as big of a score to settle as "The Future" Frankie Kazarian. Attacked from behind and shorn of his trademark locks by Scorpio Sky in May, 2006, Frankie hoped his chance for revenge would come in the first round of the annual tournament. The match quickly devolved into a wild brawl that went the length and width of the building, including a vicious powerbomb off the stage by Frankie Kazarian on Scorpio Sky. After that, everyone in attendence knew Scorpio Sky could not return from such a brutal maneuver, including Sky's valet Jade Chung, who attempted to prove she is as deadly as she is lovely when she literally stabbed Frankie in the back with a pair of scissors. This act of attempted murder set the stage for the first ever in PWG (and possible in the world of professional wrestling, our intern is out to lunch) Intergender First Blood Handicap Match! Initially, Jade Chung refused to take part in the match, however when Commissioner Winwood told Jade that attempted murder carries a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison, and that three cameras were recording the Battle of Los Angeles, she quickly changed her tune. Will Scorpio Sky be able to protect Jade Chung, and continute his planned destruction of Frankie Kazarian, or will Frankie Kazarian get revenge, and hand The Dynasty their biggest defeat yet? Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) vs. Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley - Cape Fear has had a tough couple of months since Super Dragon & Davey Richards lost the PWG World Tag Team titles, losing on the last three occasions they teamed together. While they still have a high level of fan support, that kind of record won’t put you in anybody’s top 8. Enter the seemingly unlikely duo of Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley. Sabin & Shelley have been on a roll in Japan as of late, even winning the ZERO1-MAX International Lightweight Tag Titles last August and proving they are a formidable tag team. A victory over Sabin & Shelley for Cape Fear may be exactly what it takes to put them back in the PWG title picture, but will El Generico’s impressive performance at the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles put ideas of singles gold in his head? Also taking place on Friday, October 6 at "Self-Titled," Central Florida native Chasyn Rance makes his PWG debut taking on Ronin! Plus much more! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Self-Titled" takes place at American Legion Post #308 on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 8:00PM. The American Legion Post #308 is located at 7338 Canby Ave., Reseda, CA 91335. Tickets are $20 each, and will be available at the door. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected].

PWG Presents "Self-Titled" on Friday, October 6!
PsychoDriver replied to PsychoDriver's topic in General Wrestling
Quick results: Ronin beat Chasyn Rance with a Death Valley Driver TJ Perkins beat Rocky Romero after a series of very smooth pinfall reversals Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley beat Cape Fear (El Generico and Quicksilver) after Sabin delivered a second-rope Cradle Shock on Generico - extremely good match. Sabin and Shelley brought out their Z1MAX tag belts. Scorpio Sky and Jade Chung beat Frankie Kazarian in a first-blood handicap match after Jade played dead, distracting Frankie enough for Sky to hit an Implant DDT on a chair and bust him open. Really similar to a WWE angle advancement, but done well. Finish was a little flat though. Joey Ryan vs. El Snowflake did not happen, as Joey attacked Candice LaRae before the match began and laid her out with a piledriver on a chair. Snowflake carried her to the back, and interim commissioner Quicksilver (Dino couldn't make it tonight) intervened, only to get a piledriver himself. Human Tornado returned as himself and beat Joey clean with his finisher off the second rope...BUT since the contract was signed as "El Snowflake" and not "Human Tornado," the contract is null. Super Dragon and B-Boy defeated Arrogance (Scott Lost and Chris Bosh) to win the PWG tag team titles, in a match almost as good as their Use Your Illusion 3 encounter. Super Dragon used the Psycho Driver 3 on Lost, followed by a B-Boy Shining Wizard. Overall, fun show, but far from PWG's best. Crowd was only selectively responsive through out the night. Which hurt a few matches. Nothing announced for the 10/21 show, but he know Chris Hero will be there, and it has been revealed on Joey's MySpace page that it will be in La Habra -

PWG just added a new match: Just added to "Self-Titled," taking place on Friday, October 6, 2006 at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA: In a rematch from "(Please Don't Call It) The O.C.," Rocky Romero will be taking on TJ Perkins! Perkins believes this match could prove to be a huge opportunity for him to climb the ladder here in PWG, since he went undefeated in both the 2005 & 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournaments. Rocky Romero lost in the second round of last year's tournament to Quicksilver, and in the first round to Roderick Strong this year. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]." Their match at OC in May was very good. Reckless Youth still wrestles. He worked for CHIKARA this past weekend. He just has a really bad repetition for no showing. Which probably keeps him from being booked in more places. -

See if I can answer any of these... - That was indeed, Steen at ONS. - Threemendous should be out any time now. It was supposed to out in early September but apparently there was some problems with the duplicator. I'd say it'll be out in the next week or 2, along with BOLA. - Oct 7th show: Location is unknown right now but PWG is supposed to announce the Oct. 7th details very shortly Also, congrats to Kevin Steen who will be spending the next two months in Dragon Gate. He'll miss the next 4 PWG shows, but I'm sure he'll return even better than ever. -
The Matches (Updated 8/30): Night 1 Chris Sabin Vs. Colt Cabana El Generico vs. Delirious CIMA Vs. M-Dogg 20 Kevin Steen Vs. Matt Sydal Dragon Kid Vs. Quicksilver Roderick Strong Vs. Rocky Romero Night 1 Non-tournament: B-Boy/Human Tornado/Excalibur/Mystery Partner Vs. Joey Ryan/Scott Lost/Chris Bosh/Mystery Partner Night 2 Davey Richards Vs. TJ Perkins Disco Machine Vs. Austin Aries Jack Evans Vs. Claudio Castagnoli Chris Hero Vs. Genki Horiguchi Super Dragon Vs. Necro Butcher Scorpio Sky Vs. Frankie Kazarian 2006 BOLA Line Up On a hot evening in early September of last year, a single man overcame great odds, advancing to the top of a field of sixteen to win Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Battle of Los Angeles tournament. This year, the story will be much the same, but the odds will be greater, and the field will be larger. Twenty-four men from Southern California and around the world will compete in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, with the opening rounds taking place on Friday, September 1, 2006 and Saturday, September 2, 2006, and the final rounds taking place on Sunday, September 3, 2006. Three nights of professional wrestling that are already shaping up to be the biggest event in PWG history. On June 3 at "Fear of a Black Planet" Scorpio Sky announced that he would be the first entrant in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, attempting to bring the focus of the tournament solely on himself. However, Scorpio Sky could not have anticipated the first match to be officially announced for the tournament, which will undoubtedly steal his spotlight. On Friday, September 1, 2006 in the first round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, PWG veteran and Cleveland, OH native M-Dogg 20 will take on CIMA, the ace of the Dragon Gate promotion in Japan, making his Southern California debut! 06/24/06 On Saturday, September 2, 2006, the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles will feature a first round match that has yet to occur anywhere in the world. The self professed "Savior of Wrestling," one half of the Kings of Wrestling tag team, Chris Hero will take on a man whose battles outside the ring with male pattern baldness are often as tough as his battles in the squared circle, from Dragon Gate, Genki Horiguchi. The 2006 Battle of Los Angeles marks Horiguchi's first appearance in Southern California, so please, do not call him "Hage." 06/29/06 Today's announcement marks the entry of high-flying Jack Evans into the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, the first man to be announced who also competed in last year's tournament. In 2005, Evans was eliminated in the opening round, something he surely does not wish to repeat this year. However, the Prince of Parkland will have his work cut out for him as he takes on the other half of the Kings of Wrestling, the Most Money Making Man in professional wrestling, Claudio Castagnoli! These two will face off on the second night of the tournament, Saturday, September 2, 2006. 06/30/06 Because he is unable to appear at PWG's 3 Year Anniversary Show, "Threemendous," on July 16, Commissioner Winwood has decided that Frankie Kazarian will be Scorpio Sky's opponent on night two of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. Scorpio Sky attacked Frankie Kazarian at PWG's "(Please Don't Call It) The OC" in May, hitting him repeatedly with a steel chair, then cutting of Frankie's trademark ponytail. Kazarian has been looking for revenge ever since, and at the Battle of Los Angeles he will have his chance. 07/05/06 In order to keep the bracket even, we'll be announcing two first round matches tonight for the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles! The opening match of the tournament will pit two fan favorites against one another when Disco Machine takes on "Classic" Colt Cabana! In the final match of the first round, Chris Sabin will be facing "The Do'er of The Backbreaker" Roderick Strong! It will be the first Battle of Los Angeles tournament appearance for all four men (Chris Sabin was forced to pull out of the 2005 Battle of Los Angeles due to injury.) 07/06/06 Taking place on the first night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles will be the first ever singles encounter between Matt Sydal and Mark Briscoe. Sydal, known for his high flying as well as his high impact moves, will have his hands full with Mark Briscoe, who along with his brother Jay, have turned many heads since their return to PWG earlier this year. 07/08/06 On September 2, the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, fans will see a man known as the youngest old timer in the business, TJ Perkins, take on the second returning entrant from the 2005 Battle of Los Angeles, Davey Richards. In the year since the first tournament, Richards has seen his popularity skyrocket, but Perkins has seen many "next big thing" come and go. Also on the second night will be Jay Briscoe taking on Alex Koslov. Much like his brother Mark, Jay Briscoe has impressed many since returning to PWG, but will that be enough to defeat Koslov, who faces what could be the biggest opportunity of his career thus far? 07/10/06 Tonight's announcement is a special one, as we will announce the final two matches for Friday, September 1, the first night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. The first match will be a battle between two Battle of Los Angeles veterans, when Quicksilver (eliminated in Round 3 last year) takes on "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen (eliminated in Round 2.) The final match for the first night of the tournament will be between another 2005 Battle of Los Angeles veteran, El Generico, and a man making his PWG, as well as tournament, debut; He is none other than the incomprehensible Delirious. With both the A and B blocks complete, only one more unknown tournament match remains, and it will be announced this Sunday, July 16 at PWG's three year anniversary celebration "Threemendous!" 07/12/06 The final match for the first round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles has been called a "dream match" by fans around the world, but now that it is actually taking place, it may prove to be the first "nightmare match." It's called a Nightmare Match because the pandemonium these two men will cause and the sheer brutality of the match will undoubtedly give those who witness it nightmares for years to come. Break out the rubber sheets, because on September 2, 2006, on the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Super Dragon will return to the ring to take on Necro Butcher. 07/18/06 While fans had plenty of reasons to be excited about the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Commissioner Dino Winwood is about to give them a few more. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Commissioner Winwood has been forced to make a few changes to the tournament lineup: First, because of a six month learning excursion to Mexico, Alex Koslov will be unable to compete in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. Taking Alex's place in the tournament will be none other than Austin Aries. Aries made his return to PWG earlier this year with a pair of impressive showings against fellow tournament contenders Chris Sabin and Kevin Steen. The next two changes to the tournament both involve the Briscoe Brothers. Jay and Mark Briscoe were scheduled to participate in PWG's third anniversary show, "Threemendous," this past weekend, but were unable to appear. Because of their failures to honor their PWG commitments, Commissioner Winwood has removed them from the tournament, and added an emphatic "And stay out!" for good measure. Taking their place will be two individuals who share a namesake, but are both geographically and stylistically worlds apart. Taking Jay Briscoe's place in the tournament will be "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, who will battle Austin Aries on September 2, 2006, the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Taking the place of Mark Briscoe, and making his Southern California debut will be Dragon Kid, from Japan's Dragon Gate promotion. Dragon Kid's debut will not be an easy one by any means, as he will face Quicksilver on September 1, 2006, the first night of the tournament. Because of this change, "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen will now face Matt Sydal in the opening round on September 1, 2006. Commissioner Dino Winwood, and all the staff here at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla would like to apologize for these changes, and hope that you, the Guerrilla-going public will find them to be adequate The first two nights of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles will also feature: PWG World Champion Joey Ryan, PWG World Tag Team Champions Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost,) B-Boy, Excalibur, and Human Tornado, PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood plus some very special guests! -------------------------------------- Ticket & Venue Information -------------------------------------- Now that the tournament lineups are set, that just leaves the details of the show itself. On July 16, 2006 PWG will celebrate our third anniversary with "Threemendous," which will be the last PWG event held at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC. "The Sweatbox," as its affectionately known, has been our home for the past two years, but unfortunately the JCC has signed an exclusive agreement with another client, forcing PWG to find a new home. That is why this announcement is being made beforehand rather at this weekend's event. With that out of the way, we are proud to announce that all three nights of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles will be taking place at American Legion Post #308, located at 7338 Canby Ave., Reseda, CA 91335. Before our fans take to the streets with pitchforks and torches, we would like to inform you, the riotous populous, of a few important facts: American Legion Post #308 is only 19 miles away from the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC, it is easily accessible via public transportation, on site parking is abundant, there is an on site bar, and most importantly, it is air conditioned. If that information does not help you deal with the loss of the JCC, then I'm not sure what will. American Legion Post #308 is somewhat smaller than the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC, so that brings us to our next issue: tickets. Tickets for the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles will be $25, and will be limited to a quantity of 400 per night. Because of the high demand yet limited number of tickets, we will be putting a block of 300 tickets (per each night of the tournament) on sale this weekend at "Threemendous." You will receive your tickets for the event at the time of purchase, and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. The remaining 100 tickets (per night) will be put on sale online for our fans who may not be able to attend "Threemendous." The tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 12:00PM Pacific Time. -------------------------------------- Travel Information -------------------------------------- American Legion Post #308 7338 Canby Avenue. From Out of Town - If you're flying into the Los Angeles area for the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, there are quite a few options for your lodging and local transportation. The easiest option would be to rent a car, which give you the flexibility of sight seeing on your schedule in the LA area. We understand that's not always an option, so here are a few alternatives: If you'd like to stay in the San Fernando Valley in order to be near the venue, the two closest hotels are: Howard Johnson Express Inn 7432 Reseda Blvd Reseda, CA 91335 Best Western Canoga Park Inn 20122 Vanowen St Canoga Park, CA 91306 From LAX Airport, you can take the Fly Away shuttle bus to Van Nuys Airport (for a small fee,) which is within roughly 2 miles of the venue and both hotels. However, to maximize your stay in the Los Angeles area, we recommend staying in the Universal City area, which is named for its proximity to the Universal Studios Theme Park. There is also a Red Line train station on the Universal Studios property, so you can travel to Reseda for the 2006 BOLA at night, and visit Universal Studios, or travel by train to Hollywood or Downtown LA during the day. The Red Line runs through the Hollywood tourist district, so that area is also an option for hotels. For more information about the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, check out the 2006 BOLA Mini-Site for details!

Thanks to a copying mistake on my part, Matt Sydal was left off the above write up. Sorry, Matt.. here ya go: Matt Sydal Height: 5’9” fWeight: 177 lbs. Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri PWG Record: 1-2 Notable Tournament appearances: IWA Mid South: Ted Petty Invitational 2005: Winner IWC Super Indy 2006: Semi Finalist CZW Best of the Best 6 : Semi-finalist ROH: Best of The American Super Juniors 2005 participant Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup 2005 participant Major Titles Held: NWA Midwest X-Division title Background/Motivation: I'm willing to bet if you ask what quality sportswriters most enjoy about professional athletes, they would reply (besides "cute butts") "heart." Well, Matt Sydal is a wrestler who has heart to spare (and the BUTT, but that's not the point of this article.) The St. Louis, Missouri native became a star in the indy world by taking major risks. He drove all the way down to Atlanta along with travel buddies Daizee Haze and Delirious just so they could wrestle in NWA Wildside for airline peanuts. Wildside led them to IWA Mid South, where Ian Rotten wasted no time throwing Sydal to the lions, not only in the form of huge imposing guys like former PWG alum Brad Bradley and Ryan Boz, but also bigtime indy stars like AJ Styles. Getting bounced around by all of these guys only fueled Sydal's competitive fire, as he always came back from each encounter a better wrestler. Sydal was so impressive in IWA competition he was invited to Ring of Honor, where he made an immediate impact and was invited to join the elite Generation NeXt. Sydal is a wrestler I consider an absolute joy to watch -one of the most dazzling and graceful aerialists in pro wrestling, who knows how to use his ability to take down opponents. Sydal's natural talents and amazing drive to succeed have taken him all over the country, and to the UK, Germany and Japan. He is the most recent winner of the OTHER top indy tourney in the country, the Ted Petty Invitational, beating former PWG champion and BOLA competitor Kevin Steen in the finals. Can this natural underdog pull off the impossible and become the only man to win both the TPI and BOLA? Sydal, with is "enlarged heart" (tm Jim Ross) just might be able to do it. Opening Round match: Sydal and Steen have a short, but memorable history. Sydal of course beat Steen in the TPI finals, after Steen had bullied his way through the rest of the field. Steen got his revenge at All Star Weekend 3, planting Sydal with the Package Piledriver to even the score at 1-1. What gives Steen the advantage in their rubber match, in my opinion, is not only the home field advantage but the fact that Steen has a need to re-establish his dominance in the promotion he is very proud to represent. An angry Steen is one that'll hurt you bad, and Sydal, "The Nicest Man in Wrestling," might not be able to fend off that onslaugh Later Round Outlook: Sydal faces the winner of CIMA/M-Dogg 20 in round 2. CIMA is Sydal's teammate in Dragon Gate's "Shinsei Blood Generation" stable, and recruited Sydal personally for the group. There is no doubt he would be very familiar with Sydal, and able to counter anything Sydal can throw at him. CIMA's experience and strength advantage would be too much for even the TPI winner. Sydal's only hope would be for M-Dogg 20 to pull a massive upset, as the Dogg has a very poor record against other high-flying wrestlers. Odds of winning: 30-1, Sydal, like Aries, is not considered a pick to win this tourney despite his impressive resume. The competition in his bracket is very difficult, and the fact Sydal has to compete in a tourney the next day in Indiana, then possibly fly back to LA to complete the Battle of LA, may be too taxing even for someone with Sydal's journeyman reputation. Not only that, Steen's roughhouse style of wrestling will likely take a heavy toll on his body, and a weary, unfocused Sydal will likely be easy pickings in the later rounds.

PWG: Battle Of Los Angeles 2006 Thread

Updated tournament line up, few matches switched around, Rocky Romero added to the field. 8/30 Update With word of "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson's injury reaching the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla offices a little over 24 hours ago, Commissioner Dino Winwood wasted no time getting on the phone trying to find a replacement. Luckily, one call is all it took, because the first person Commissioner Winwood called was Rocky Romero, who after last year's unsuccesful tournament entry, was looking for another opportunity to be crowned Battle of Los Angeles champion. However, due to the last minute nature of the booking and prior commitments, Rocky Romero will not be available on September 2, the second night of the tournament, when Bryan Danielson was originally scheduled to appear. Because of this unexpected complication, some of the tournament lineups had to be changed, and we hope you, the fans, will find the changes to be for the best. The changes are: Taking Bryan Danielson's place on Night 2 against Austin Aries will be Disco Machine. Taking Disco Machine's place on Night 1 against "Classic" Colt Cabana will be Chris Sabin. Taking Chris Sabin's place on Night 1 against Roderick Strong will be Rocky Romero. Again, we hope fans are happy with the changes, and we appreciate your understanding. We would also like to inform fans that we will be offering pre-orders of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles DVD Release. Each night will be available individually for $15 each, however, as a special offer for fans in attendance this weekend, if you pre-order all three nights of the tournament, it will only be $30, a $15 savings! Fans who would like their copies shipped will be charged an additional $5 per order to cover shipping & handling. If you live in the Los Angeles area, you will have the option of picking up your copies at the next show the DVDs are available at. We expect the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles DVDs to be available in early October. -

New PWG Update: American Dragon out due to injury. "In the world of professional wrestling, there are certain things that are inevitable, and one of those things is that wrestlers will be injured. Unfortunately, this past weekend "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson injured his shoulder in a match with "Classic" Colt Cabana, and after a visit to the emergency room and an MRI, was diagnosed with a shoulder separation. Therefore, he will be unable to compete in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, and we here at PWG wish Mr. Danielson a speedy recovery. An announcement about his replacement will be made shortly. We understand that some fans are still having issues with their tickets. We apologize for the inconvenience, but due to time constraints, if you have not received your tickets yet, or you have an order problem, it will have to be taken care of on the day of the show. We know that many fans are traveling to Los Angeles, and may have to leave home a few days prior to the event, so we will be unable to fulfill any more ticket orders by mail. If your order has not been fulfilled, or there is a problem with it, please bring your PayPal Order# along with identification to the show with you, and starting at 4PM you will be able to pick up your tickets. If you have had a problem with your ticket order, please email [email protected] with your information and the nature of your problem. We know some fans have emailed PWG at the address given by the PayPal orders, but due to technical issues, we were unable receive them. Again, we apologize for any problems that this may cause. New 08/03 Update from PWG, explains a few rules of the tournament and makes SD/Necro a NO DQ match: "Fans have been speculating about the rules for the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, and more specifically, the format of the tournament finals. To put the issue to rest, we offer our latest tournament update: In order to advance in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, a competitor must win via Pinfall, Submission, Count Out, or Disqualification. Competitors will receive a 20 count outside of the ring, and standard disqualification rules apply (repeated warnings by the referee, use of foreign objects, etc.) If time expires without a winner, the match will be ruled a draw, and neither competitor will advance in the tournament. All first round matches will have a 30 minute time limit. All second round matches will have a 45 minute time limit. All semifinal matches will have a 60 minute time limit. The tournament final will have no time limit, and will be held under elimination rules. The winner of that match will be crowned 2006 Battle of Los Angeles champion. With those rules in mind, PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood has some updates for a couple of the tournament matches. First, for the opening round match between Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky, all member of The Dynasty are banned from ringside. If any member of The Dynasty does interfere in the match, they will be stripped of their titles and suspended for 90 days. The second update is for the opening round match between Necro Butcher and Super Dragon. After speaking with both competitors, Commissioner Winwood has ruled that this match will be a No Count Out, No Disqualification match. While the tournament rules are intended to level the playing field for everyone involved, both Dragon and Necro have accepted the rules to this match. Finally, a quick update for those fans who are still waiting to purchase their 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tickets. Fans who buy tickets in advance will be allowed into the building first, and will most likely choose the best seats. After they have entered, the remaining quantity of tickets (if any,) will go on sale, and fans who purchase those tickets will then be allowed to enter. So if you'd like to sit in the front row, but haven't bought your tickets yet, now is the time to act. Tickets are going quickly, so don't miss out on your chance to see the biggest PWG event ever!" -

07/24 Update -------------------------------------- With Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's third anniversary behind us, our focus is now entirely on the upcoming 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, taking place September 1, 2, & 3 in Reseda, CA. Fans from Southern California and around the world have already purchased over half of the available tickets, so if you plan on attending, buy your tickets soon! We are not designating any quantity of seats for sale at the door, so if we sell out online, that's it. No more tickets will be made available. The only way to guarantee yourself a seat is to pre-purchase tickets now! To buy your tickets online, visit the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Tickets Page. If you have already purchased your tickets for the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, they will be mailed shortly. We here at PWG appreciate the support of all of our fans, but we would like to extend a special thanks to those fans making a trip to the Los Angeles area especially for the tournament. We would also like to announce the first non-tournament match of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. On Night One of the tournament, The Dynasty (PWG World Champion Joey Ryan, PWG World Tag Team Champions Chris Bosh and Scott Lost) will join forces with a mystery partner to take on the team of B-Boy, Excalibur, Human Tornado, and a mystery partner hand picked by B-Boy himself! Joey Ryan had to resort to using an ether-soaked rag to defeat B-Boy in the steel cage match at "Threemendous," and rather than pressing criminal charges against the PWG champion, B-Boy decided he wanted revenge, or "a toof for a toof." Joey told PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood that he wouldn't put the title on the line against B-Boy again, and that in September, he may still be "injured" from the steel cage match, so he needs his fellow Dynasty members by his side! Dino's hands were tied, so he left it up to B-Boy, who said "if he's bringing his boys, I'll bring mine."
