The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

I'll go out and buy a lens cleaner tomorrow and see if that works. If not, I'll have to get another Game or PS2 (hopefully a newer model) good thing I got that replacement warranty everyone told me not too. Either way, it's pretty scary that a game could do that to a system or vice versa. -
Damian/Halloween Vs. La Parka/Silver King (I think)- Mexican Hardcore match from Nitro. Really fun match, that the announce team totally ruined by just laughing at it. Also: Mr. Perfect Vs. Shawn Michaels - March to WM7 (still one my favorite matches ever) Steiners Vs. Money Inc - CAGE match (should have been on that Cage Match DVD) Bret Hart Vs. 123 Kid RAW July 01, 1996: Shawn Michaels Vs. Marty Jannetty HBK Vs. Bulldog - Early 95

Anyone else had this problem... I thought it was just my PS2 but I checked other boards and apparently there is a somewhat widespread problem with this game causing PS2's to make a "Buzzing" or "Grinding" noise like the lens was skipping or having trouble reading the disc. It effects the sound, makes the game freeze and causes Disc Read Errors. It was working fine for days and then this crap pops up. Anyone else's PS2 doing this because of this game? I think it may have ruined my PS2. I just got the damn thing. -
I just never could stand him. Let's see: He's annoying Appears to have an big attitude problem when he's lucky to have a job peroid. Hasn't the slightest bit of talent, yet has kept a job with the world's biggest wrestling company for 10 years now. Beat Mike Awesome in 2001 when Awesome still had a chance to get over He will never, ever be over. Gets Pushes while Tommy Dreamer, Ultimo Dragon and others with more talent job on the B shows. Still has a job when more talented performers where let go (Really he should have been canned when the Godfather and the rest of the junk was) Whenever he is on I always change the channel and sometimes never change back. He generates that X-Pac/Stephanie McMahone "go away and never come back" type of heat. eh, in closing... I just don't like the guy.
-
Yeah, he may as well switch to the Code Red.
-
Sounds good... but not as good as last years.

They are still in the same complex or something right? Because I remember hearing somewhere that The Manhattan Center was now the Hammerstein. Could be different parts of the same building I guess.. Heck the address is even: Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center 311 West 34th Street

This isn't a good sign, Wasn't Wrestlefest supposed to be MLW's "Wrestlemania"? Hope they do return... only a little smarter this time.
-
Ok, I knew I may have gotten it mixed up.

Found this on another board: http://members3.boardhost.com/Trent36/msg/34112.html "I have just recieved word that Crash Holly, real name Erin O'Grady has passed away at 1 p.m. this afternoon. He was found by the police, and died of an apparent overdose. I am not sure of all the details at this point in time, however, when the rest of the world finds out, there will be more emerging I can almost promise. The man even though he was misused by WWE on several occasions, and had a stint in TNA, was still a terrific performer and will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to Erin's wife and family, and Stevie Richards who has lost not only a housemate, but a best friend." Again with the drugs.... Still very sad for someone to go that young.

WTF? What happened? He seemed pretty in pretty good shape and just wrestled a Tag Match in PWI. anyway R.I.P. Crash

Probably the Benoit-Angle tag team. Every time I faced them (about 4 times) they systematically broke you down. Angle and his Angle Lock would destory your legs and Benoit's Crossface took care of the Head/Back area. Once the match went awhile you would have to tap out from one of those holds. They just won't die either, They kick out of everything. Out of the 4 times I faced them I only won once. After giving Benoit 3 straight shining wizards to finally win the SD Tag Belts. This game is a lot more challenging then SYM ever was. -
1. Kinda, well he was on TV more as a commentator on thunder. Sometimes he was pretty funny and would sometimes say some bizzare shoot comments like "The Artist? They give a gimmick to the worst wrestler in the company" and so on. 2. Don't think so. Actually I think it came from a comment the Rock made to Jericho on RAW. which went something like this: "just because you were down south fighting some jabroni named Juventud" so Juvi copied him as a parody I guess soon after.

It's called the Landing Pin -
Yeah but remember it was harder for a company like ECW to land big stars back then because they had to 2 other Huge promotions to compete with. While TNA just has WWE.
-
Another fun thing about the WCW AKI games, was that pushing the Stick got you out of pins no matter what. I remember playing with friend who had no idea about the stick trick, And I kept kicking out of everything and pissing him off.. "How the hell did you kick out of 3 Razor's Edges? you should be dead right now" ah good times.
-
IIRC, the Juvi Elbow was apart of his old WCW mockery of The Rock. In 2000 I think he started calling himself "The Juice" and saying "Finally, The Juice has come back to..." and stealing alot of The Rock's stuff including the Elbow.
-
You mean CZW's Wrestlemania, The Cage of Death 5? I think that'd be too much competition for JAPW. It may cost them alot of fans that night.

Yes, they are in the unlockable movesets. -
Awesome stuff, thanks for posting this. Also now I can see why alot of you dislike Kazarian in TNA... He is nothing without his Karate Kid theme song.
-
Yes, but it's now called the Hammerstein Ballroom. ECW ran their last PPVs there.

No Mercy, Just for the weapons system, CAW, Ladder match, The new VPW2 Moves and the iron man/Special ref match But WM2K has NM owned when it comes to Season mode, entrances and the Create a Belt feature.
-
World Tour had alot of small details that were dropped for the later games For example: When a smaller guy had a Special and was knocked down. He Knipped back Up (Small but awesome detail) The WCW Vs. nWo endurance mode (was in VPW2 but none of the US games) Round Robin Mode The Crowd clapped japanese style instead of cheering The 2-Out Rule in Tag Matches Multi Non Special Top Rope Moves Great features that should have never been taken out.
