PWG: Battle Of Los Angeles 2006 Thread
PsychoDriver replied to PsychoDriver's topic in General Wrestling
BIG UPDATE: 07/18/06[/i] While fans had plenty of reasons to be excited about the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Commissioner Dino Winwood is about to give them a few more. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Commissioner Winwood has been forced to make a few changes to the tournament lineup: First, because of a six month learning excursion to Mexico, Alex Koslov will be unable to compete in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. Taking Alex's place in the tournament will be none other than Austin Aries. Aries made his return to PWG earlier this year with a pair of impressive showings against fellow tournament contenders Chris Sabin and Kevin Steen. The next two changes to the tournament both involve the Briscoe Brothers. Jay and Mark Briscoe were scheduled to participate in PWG's third anniversary show, "Threemendous," this past weekend, but were unable to appear. Because of their failures to honor their PWG commitments, Commissioner Winwood has removed them from the tournament, and added an emphatic "And stay out!" for good measure. Taking their place will be two individuals who share a namesake, but are both geographically and stylistically worlds apart. Taking Jay Briscoe's place in the tournament will be "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, who will battle Austin Aries on September 2, 2006, the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Taking the place of Mark Briscoe, and making his Southern California debut will be Dragon Kid, from Japan's Dragon Gate promotion. Dragon Kid's debut will not be an easy one by any means, as he will face Quicksilver on September 1, 2006, the first night of the tournament. Because of this change, "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen will now face Matt Sydal in the opening round on September 1, 2006. Commissioner Dino Winwood, and all the staff here at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla would like to apologize for these changes, and hope that you, the Guerrilla-going public will find them to be adequate -
From Meltzer: "*Sen Shi defends the X title. The match is a three-way and both opponents are not current TNA regulars, but both are planned to be regulars after this match." Any guesses? I'd say Austin Aries and Frankie Kazarian seem likely (as Frankie is suspiciously not on the PWG show on Sunday)

I could agree with that match being higher. List wasn't really in a perfect order. Good shows to get: All Star Weekend 1: Night 1 The 2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza - Night One Astonishing X-Mas Cruisin' For A Bruisin'! And pretty much all the currently unreleased shows are really worth getting. Especially: Hollywood Globetrotters (PWG MOTY so far: SD/Davey Vs. Strong/Evans, Sabin Vs. Shelley, Arrogance Vs. Cape Fear, Kazarian Vs. B-Boy) Beyond The Thunderdome (SD/Davey Vs. AJ/Daniels, a GREAT Arrogance Vs. Cape Fear match, Joey Vs. Sabin, Steen Vs. B-Boy, Sky Vs. Tornado, a really different TJ Perkins Vs. Mr. Excitement match. All good stuff) All Star Weekend 3: Night 2 (Amazing back to back to back series of matches with Kazarian vs. B-Boy Vs. Steen Vs. Sabin, Strong Vs. Sydal, and Necro Butcher's surprise debut Vs. Joey Ryan) Enchantment Under The Sea (one of my favorite PWG shows to date, top to bottom excellent show) Get those all when they are released (Beyond The Thunderdome and Hollywood Globetrotters are currently available for pre-order) -

Off the top of my head... World Title 1. Super Dragon Vs. Samoa Joe - All Nude Revue 2. Frankie Kazarian Vs. Adam Pearce - Cage Match - Reason For The Season 3. Kevin Steen Vs. Chris Bosh - All Star Weekend 2: Night Two 4. Frankie Kazarian Vs. AJ Styles Vs. Christopher Daniels - ARE YOU ADEQUATELY PREPARED TO ROCK?! 5. Frankie Kazarian Vs. Super Dragon - Free Admission (Just Kidding) Joey Ryan's reign has had some pretty fun matches. But I'm not sure where I'd rank them... Tag Title: 1. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Roderick Strong/Jack Evans - Hollywood Globetrotters 2. Arrogance Vs. Aerial Express - Masks Vs. Titles 2 Year Anny 3. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Arrogance - England 4. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Two Skinny Black Guys - After School Special 5. Arrogance Vs. Two Skinny Black Guys - Zombies Shouldn't Run 6. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Cape Fear - Cruisin' For a Brusin 7. Arrogance Vs. Super Dragon/B-Boy - Use Your Illusion 3 8. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Arrogance - Enchantment Under The Sea 9. Super Dragon/Davey Richards Vs. Cape Fear - Germany 10. Arrogance Vs. B-Boy/Human Tornado - Fear of a Black Planet Probably leaving something out.... most everything from SD/Davey's run would be up there too. -
I'd recommend: "Astonishing X-Mas" excellent show from top to bottom. With theSuper Dragon/Kevin Steen Guerilla Warfare, Davey Richards Vs. Samoa Joe, Roderick Strong/Jack Evans Vs. Generico/Tornado, Scott Lost Vs. Alex Shelley, a fun 8-man, Cabana Vs. Sky.... Plus Chris Kanyon Vs. Joey Ryan, which isn't that good... but it was interesting to see Kanyon in PWG. Battle Of Los Angeles is a really great set as well. Also can't go wrong with All Nude Revue, Zombies Shouldn't Run or the All Star Weekend shows. And there is also this deal: http://highspots.com/product.asp?id=14787 where you can get Card Subject To Change 2, their 2 European Shows and another PWG DVD from a list for $35

PWG's "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" on April 8 &
PsychoDriver posted a topic in General Wrestling
PWG's "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" on April 8 & 9! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Darlingtonia, CA - Fans of professional wrestling, it's that time of year again. Yes, it's the time of year that comes once, well, maybe twice or three times a year, if Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ( http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) is feeling up to it, it's All Star Weekend time! In a grand tradition dating all the way back to 2005, "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" is the third in a 434-part series highlighting the very best in independent professional wrestling, as well as PWG's inability to consistently come up with clever show titles. When reached for comment, Commissioner Dino Winwood stated "All Star Weekend is always our biggest show of the year. Except for Battle of Los Angeles. And the Anniversary show. But at any rate, it's gonna be huge." How huge, exactly? We're glad you asked. "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" will feature the first ever mini-tournament to determine the number one contender for the PWG World Championship. Since "The Draw" Joey Ryan became PWG World Champion, it's become harder and harder for there to be a clear number one contender for the title, since each man Joey Ryan "defeats" feels cheated, and demands a rematch However, at "Beyond The Thunderdome," Joey Ryan's antics reached an all-time high, when in a confrontation before the number one contenders match between B-Boy and Kevin Steen, Joey Ryan struck Steen with the PWG title, giving B-Boy an unfair advantage. Then later that night, after (seemingly) losing the title to Chris Sabin, Joey Ryan used a contractual loophole to have the decision overturned, but still had to cheat in order to win the restarted match! With hurt feelings hitting epidemic levels around the PWG locker room, Commissioner Winwood has decided action needed to be taken, and at ASW3 he will hold the first ever 8-Man mini-tournament to determine the number one contender for the PWG World Championship. April 8 will feature four qualifying matches, and April 9 will feature a 4-Way Elimination match featuring the winners from Night One, with the winner being crowned the top competitor for the title. But be warned, Joey Ryan! Commissioner Winwood has taken some very drastic steps to insure this tournament is as fair as possible, including a one-year suspension, $1,000 fine, and stripping of all applicable PWG titles for interference before, during, or after the tournament matches. Not only does Dino mean business in the rules department, he also means business in the talent department, as the qualifying matches will feature: "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen vs. "The Nicest Man In Wrestling" Matt Sydal "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy vs. Excalibur Chris Sabin vs. Scorpio Sky "The Future" Frankie Kazarian vs. Jimmy Yang While that's all well and good, where does it leave "The Draw" Joey Ryan and the PWG World Championship? Commissioner Winwood should thank me for using rhetorical questions as transition points, because he's already got an answer! But first, to understand what lead up to this match, we must take the Wayback Machine to February 19, 2006, when Super Dragon & Davey Richards defended their World Tag Team Championship against Arrogance, "Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost. After the conclusion of the match, Super Dragon, in typical Super Dragon fashion, continued to beat on and ultimately embarrass the defeated Chris Bosh in front of the English fans. This lead to the creation of Chris Bosh's "A Treatise On Those Jerks, Joey Ryan & Super Dragon" which he read portions of at PWG's March 4 event. Subsequently, this lead to both Joey Ryan and Super Dragon interfering in Bosh's match that night, costing Arrogance a shot at the tag titles. This past weekend at "Beyond The Thunderdome," Chris Bosh's anger could be held back no longer, when he directed an emotional diatribe at both Dragon and Joey. Unfortunately, as Scott Lost was quick to point out, Bosh seemed more concerned with Dragon and Joey than his match that was about to start. This was an astute observation, since Bosh's lack of focus ended up costing Arrogance their shot at the tag titles. So, here we are, back in the present day, where Joey Ryan is champion, Super Dragon has never seen eye to eye with Joey Ryan, and Chris Bosh hates them both. Since this is professional wrestling, there's only one way to solve this equation, and that is by a 3-Way Match for the PWG World Championship! But since this is Crazymania, Commissioner Winwood has added an extra twist to the match, and made it single elimination! That means the first man to score a pinfall or submission is the winner, and that Joey Ryan doesn't even need to be in the ring to lose his title! Could we see Super Dragon's second reign as champion, or the long awaited first reign of "Photogenic" Chris Bosh? We will find out at "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3!" With five matches already announced, what more could be in store for this already gigantic night of wrestling? Again with the rhetorical questions! On April 8, 2006 at 7:00PM at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC, the first night of "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" will also feature: The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs. The Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero) Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) vs. Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) The Return Of The Dude! MDogg 20 vs. "The Pinoy Boy" TJ Perkins Elimination Tag Team Match Disco Machine & Nemesis vs. Top Gun Talwar & Bino Gambino vs. Alex Koslov & Ronin Plus PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood! Night two of "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3" takes place on Sunday, April 9 at 5:00PM, and will feature the conclusion of the Number One Contenders mini-tournament. The four winners from the previous day will meet in a 4-way elimination match to determine who gets a shot at the PWG World Championship. Also featured on Night two of ASW3 is: PWG World Tag Team Championship Match Super Dragon & Davey Richards © vs. Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) This match will take place even if Super Dragon becomes PWG World Champion on Night One. Roderick Strong vs. Kevin Steen or Matt Sydal Arrogance ("Photogenic" Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) This match will take place even if Chris Bosh becomes PWG World Champion on Night One. MDogg 20 vs. Frankie Kazarian or Jimmy Yang Disco Machine & Nemesis vs. The Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero) Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) vs. Alex Koslov & Ronin The Dino Winwood Challenge Joey Ryan vs. ??? Dino has a mystery opponent in store for Joey Ryan, and if Joey manages to retain the title on Night One, the PWG World Championship will be on the line! Plus Chris Sabin, "The New Age Punisher" B-Boy, Scorpio Sky, "The Pinoy Boy" TJ Perkins, Excalibur, and Top Gun Talwar! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3 - Night One" takes place at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 7:00PM. "Crazymania: All Star Weekend 3 - Night Two" takes place at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 5:00PM. The Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC is located at 1110 Bates Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90029. Tickets are $20 for each night, or $30 for both nights, and will be available at the door. PWG's "Permanent Vacation" Takes Place on February 4!

Updates on the Card: You are standing in front of a street. There appears to be no traffic. On the other side of the street is Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's latest professional wrestling event. >look left You look left. There is no traffic. >look right You look right. There is no traffic. >walk across street Unknown command. Type ? for help. >cross street You begin crossing the street. 2 steps in, you are hit by a Ford Taurus with +9 Invisibility. You have now entered the world of PWG. What you have just read has been an exclusive preview of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's brand new video game, "A Text Adventure," due out Quarter 4 of 2007 for all major video game systems. What is most ironic about that preview is that PWG has been struck by a Ford Taurus wearing a +9 cloak of invisibility, figuratively speaking of course, because we received word today that both "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and the dreamy Chris Sabin are injured, and will be unable to compete this weekend. However, it's not a total loss, because Commissioner Dino Winwood has become accustomed to thinking on his feet, and has made some changes to "Permanent Vacation" taking place this Saturday, February 4 in Hollywood, CA. The changes are: - AJ Styles, thanks to his previous reign as PWG Champion, will now take Chris Sabin's place in the 4-Way PWG Championship match against "Photogenic" Chris Bosh, "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen, and current PWG Champion Joey Ryan. To sweeten the pot, Commissioner Winwood has decided to make this a 4-Way Elimination Match! How exotic! - Davey Richards & Super Dragon once again will not defend their PWG Tag Team Championships against the team of Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles, but instead will have a rematch to the team of Phoenix Star & Zokre, Los Luchas! After being mercilessly beaten last month, Los Luchas intend to gain some measure of payback this weekend, as well as becoming the new PWG Tag Team Champions. To insure there is not a repeat of last time, Commissioner Winwood has decided that this match will be a dreaded No Count Out match! How exotic, as well! The full card for "Permanent Vacation" is as follows: 4-Way Elimination PWG Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. Chris Bosh vs. AJ Styles vs. Kevin Steen PWG Tag Team Championship Match Super Dragon & Davey Richards © vs. Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) Claudio Castagnoli vs. Samoa Joe Chris Hero vs. "The Future" Frankie Kazarian Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) vs. Human Tornado & Scorpio Sky "Classic" Colt Cabana vs. Alex Koslov Excalibur vs. Top Gun Talwar Plus TJ Perkins, Disco Machine, Nemesis, Ronin, and PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Permanent Vacation" takes place at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 7:00PM. The Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC is located at 1110 Bates Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90029. Tickets are $20 each, and will be available at the door. For more information, please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com or email [email protected]. ALSO PWG February 1st DVD Update Fans who pre-ordered the DVD release of PWG's All Star Weekend 2: Electric Boogaloo Nights 1 & 2 will be happy to know that both titles are in stock, and will be shipping this week. Those of you waiting to pick it up at one of our live events now have the perfect opportunity, since the ASW2 DVDs will be in stock this weekend at "Permanent Vacation" on Saturday, February 4 at 7:00PM. PWG fans who want to round out the DVD collection, and may have missed some of the earlier shows will be pleased to find out that we are restocking our DVDs not distributed by Highspots, including: The Debut Show, Bad Ass Mother 3000 Night 1 & 2, Are You Adequately Prepared To Rock, An Inch Longer Than Average, Pimpin' In High Places, and the Tango & Cash Invitational. We are expecting Tango & Cash Invitational to be in stock within the next two weeks, however the rest of the shows are currently back in stock. They can either be ordered online at www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com, or picked up in person at any of our upcoming live events. Supplies are limited, so if we run out and you're left empty handed, you can go cry into your soup. Fans who are a little more literarily inclined will be interested to know that Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is the subject of an article in the March 2006 issue of FHM Magazine, which will be on newsstands soon. Interviews for the article were conducted over the course of ASW2 weekend by FHM editor and big shot TV star Adam Winer, who will be held 100% accountable if it's some sort of hard hitting expose and not the easy going puff piece we asked for. Those of you who may be too cheap to buy the magazine, or possibly embarrassed by owning something so "wordy" can still visit FHM's website, www.fhmus.com, for exclusive interviews with PWG wrestlers, pictures of scantily clad women, and magazine subscription information. -
PWG's "Permanent Vacation" Takes Place on February 4!

PWG's "Permanent Vacation" Takes Place on February 4! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Saddleback Butte, CA - At the conclusion of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's ( http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) last event, "Teen Outreach Summit," two facts were quite clear amid all the pandemonium: Joey Ryan is either the smartest or luckiest man in PWG, and Super Dragon has gone completely crazy. First, our PWG Champion, Joey Ryan. At "Teen Outreach Summit" Chris Sabin and Kevin Steen were to meet in a match that would determine the number one contender for Joey Ryan's PWG Championship. Steen opted to have a Number One Contender match instead a rematch for the title, to see if he was prepared to battle for the belt after taking time off to recuperate from Guerrilla Warfare match in December. Sabin, who is on the fast track to success in PWG, defeated B-Boy in a grueling 2-Out-Of-3-Falls match in early January, and seemed a natural choice to be in the running for the championship. It was the track record of both competitors that caused Joey Ryan to interject himself in this match, causing it to be ruled a No Contest. Later that night, Joey would fake a knee injury and get himself counted out of the ring in his match with Chris Bosh, knowing full well that the title can only change hands after a pinfall or submission. Joey Ryan was going to leave "Teen Outreach Summit" as PWG champion, and apparently he would be without any top contenders for the belt. This prompted PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood to make an on the spot ruling, deciding that Joey's next title defense would be an honest one. A match with so little wiggle room that it would take someone with the seemingly dislocatable hips of Shakira to escape from its vice like grip on the competitors. No, it's not the prohibitively expensive Steel Cage match. It is, however, a match that will feature Joey Ryan putting his PWG Championship on the line against the three men he wronged at "Teen Outreach Summit," Chris Bosh, Chris Sabin, and Kevin Steen. Commissioner Winwood has decided that this match is Single Elimination, so Joey Ryan does not have to be pinned or submit in order to lose the title. We here at the PWG Office hope that Joey Ryan invested in an Ab Roller with his Championship Bonus, because that's the only way he'll be in Shakira-esque shape by February 4. On to PWG's resident mad man and one half of our Tag Team Champions, Super Dragon. Just 24 hours before "Teen Outreach Summit," Commissioner Winwood was notified that due to illness, AJ Styles would be unable make his scheduled Tag Team Championship match, and that a replacement would have to be found. The Commish, after being blackballed in Hollywood for his unflattering portrayal of John Belushi, determined via complicated algorithms that Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) deserved a shot at the tag titles, and that they would receive one. This did not cause the Super Dragon & Davey Richards steamroller to flinch one tiny iota, since they beat Los Luchas so viciously that they were unable to answer the referee's 20 count, giving Dragon & Richards an easy victory. Dragon, possibly incensed by a lack of competition, too much hot sauce on his burrito, or for no reason at all, savagely attacked both Phoenix Star and Zokre after the bell, got in to a minor scuffle with partner Davey Richards, and ultimately called in a second referee to count a pinfall on his unconscious opponent. One cannot say what lurks within the dark recesses of Super Dragon's mind, however his insanity (over confidence?) may end up costing himself and Davey Richards the PWG Tag Team Titles. And it could very easily happen on February 4, when the champions put their titles on the line against the dream team of "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Daniels & Styles come in to the match with nearly 20 years of combined in ring experience, and clearly have the edge in that department, yet Dragon & Richards have been on such a tremendous roll lately, obliterating the competition at every opportunity. Will Dragon's carelessness cost his team the titles, or will Daniels & Styles be overwhelmed by the rampaging force of the champions? There's only one way to find out for sure, and that is to be at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on February 4, 2006 at 7:00PM for PWG's "Permanent Vacation!" We regret to inform fans that due to an injury suffered in his match with Jimmy Yang at "Teen Outreach Summit," Scott Lost will be unable to wrestle on February 4th. But it kinda works out, since B-Boy informed us that he would be unable to make our next event due to... something. However, PWG's "Permanent Vacation" will feature: PWG Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. Chris Bosh vs. Chris Sabin vs. Kevin Steen PWG Tag Team Championship Match Super Dragon & Davey Richards © vs. Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles Claudio Castagnoli vs. Samoa Joe Chris Hero vs. "The Future" Frankie Kazarian Cape Fear (El Generico & Quicksilver) vs. Human Tornado & Scorpio Sky "Classic" Colt Cabana vs. Alex Koslov Excalibur vs. Top Gun Talwar Plus TJ Perkins, Disco Machine, Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre), Nemesis, Ronin, and PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood! Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Permanent Vacation" takes place at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 7:00PM. Important Update For PWG's "Teen Outreach Summit!" By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Beverly Hills Hotel, CA - Earlier today we received word (written, not spoken) from "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles stating that he would be unable to attend Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) "Teen Outreach Summit," which is just 24 hours from now. Styles was diagnosed with a severe throat and ear infection, and due to that and his antibiotics, is unable to both travel and wrestle. It was disappointing news, to say the least, however PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood has used the hours since he found out to revamp the lineup for "Teen Outreach Summit," taking place tomorrow, January 21, at 7:00PM at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC. The event will now feature: PWG Championship Match Joey Ryan © vs. "Photogenic" Chris Bosh PWG Tag Team Championship Match Super Dragon & Davey Richards © vs. Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) Number One Contender Match Chris Sabin vs. "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. Rocky Romero Scott Lost vs. Jimmy Yang Alex Koslov & Dmitri Masarsky vs. TJ Perkins & Top Gun Talwar B-Boy vs. Scorpio Sky El Generico, Quicksilver, & Human Tornado vs. Disco Machine, Nemesis, & Ronin Plus PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood! We here at PWG would like to wish AJ Styles all the best and a speedy recovery. While the news of his illness is disappointing, fans can take heart in knowing that at our next event on February 4, the team of Davey Richards & Super Dragon will take on the team of Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles, regardless of who holds the Tag Team Titles. Also, we would like to point out that the newly formed Russian Coalition of Koslov & Masarsky credit Zangief, King of Piledrivers, for a large portion of their training. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Teen Outreach Summit” takes place at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 7:00PM. The Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC is located at 1110 Bates Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90029. Tickets are $20 each, and will be available at the door. PWG's "Teen Outreach Summit" Takes Place on January 21&#
PsychoDriver posted a topic in General Wrestling
PWG's "Teen Outreach Summit" Takes Place on January 21! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Camp Minawampum, CA - In recent weeks and months, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) has seen a substantial increase in the amount of violence being used to resolve issues, and the time has finally come to do something about it. That's why Commissioner Dino Winwood and PWG, in conjunction with professional basketball player Lamar Odom's "Little Lamar Urban Achievers Youth Awareness Organization" are proud to present "Teen Outreach Summit," taking place on Saturday, January 21 at 7:00PM! The goal of the "Teen Outreach Summit" is to show teens that when confronted with a problem, the wrestlers of PWG are mature enough to use their words to find solutions, and not theirs fists. Leading by example is PWG Champion Joey Ryan, whose rivalry with 2005 Battle of Los Angeles Winner Chris Bosh will culminate in a battle of brains, not brawn, at "Teen Outreach Summit!" It was only 10 days ago at "Cruisin' For a Bruisin'" when Chris Bosh returned early from injury to confront Joey Ryan, the very man who had cost Bosh the title late last year. Rather than put his title on the line against Bosh right then and there, Joey Ryan stepped into uncharted territory and flexed his brain muscle, which was the last thing Chris Bosh, or anyone else for that matter, expected. Joey used their mutual friendship with Scott Lost to his advantage, forcing Chris Bosh to face Lost, his friend and tag partner, in a Number One Contender match! While hesitant, both members of Arrogance agreed that this was a huge opportunity, and it would be foolish to turn it down. So with the best interest of sportsmanship in mind, the two members of Arrogance squared off for the first time in PWG History. This seemed all well and good to Joey Ryan, until he realized the jeopardy his title was in, so he took it upon himself to interfere in the match. Some may say he freely interfered, some may say not, but all can agree that a mistimed super kick put Scott Lost out of the match, and Chris Bosh on the fast track to a shot at the PWG Championship at the "Teen Outreach Summit!" Also taking place this Saturday will be a very special Tag Team Title contest, when the unstoppable duo of Super Dragon and Davey Richards put the belts on the line against TNA Wrestling stars "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles! The title reign of Dragon and Richards has been much talked about, first by fans wondering when the two men would come to blows, and now by fans wondering who can dethrone this two man wrecking crew. The change in the fan's perception of Dragon and Richards is why they are such sought after speakers for Peace and Reconciliation Seminars, and also why they in such a prominent position this coming Saturday. Commissioner Winwood, after seeing what great success the Tag Team Champions are having, decided to try and bottle lightning a second time by teaming up arch rivals Daniels and Styles. For many years, long before PWG even existed, these two men battled to win the hearts, minds, and dollars of you, the professional wrestling fan. But it was not until early last year when things came to a head, when AJ Styles won the PWG Championship, and mysteriously began selling more merchandise than The Fallen Angel. Angered and insulted by this statistic, Daniels challenged Styles for the championship, which ended in a dramatic 60 minute time limit draw. Since that match, these two men have faced one another multiple times in both PWG and TNA, only to further intensify their rivalry. PWG Presents “Astonishing X-Mas” On Friday, Dec 17!
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
My last minute rushed rambling thoughts on tonights card (because I'm bored basically) - Kevin Steen Vs Super Dragon PWG Records: Kevin Steen is 13-7 overall (12-6 as a single) Super Dragon is 29-13-1 overall Past History: Super Dragon/Excalibur Vs. Kevin Steen/El Generico - CZW Cage of Death 6 Super Dragon Vs. Kevin Steen - PWG: Ernest P. Worrell Memorial Super Dragon Vs. Kevin Steen Vs. El Generico - PWG All Star Weekend Night 1 Super Dragon/Disco Machine Vs. Kevin Steen/Excalibur - PWG Guitarmageddon Super Dragon Vs. Kevin Steen Vs. Mike Quackenbush Vs. B-Boy -CZW Best of the Best 5 Super Dragon/El Generico/Human Tornado Vs. Kevin Steen/Excalibur/Disco Machine - PWG: 2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza" - Night One Super Dragon Vs. Kevin Steen - PWG: 2nd Annual Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza" - Night Two Super Dragon Vs. Kevin Steen - PWG Battle of Los Angeles Night One Thoughts: What can really be said about this? Other then perhaps "wow" or if you wanna get fancy about it "wowie wow wow" Basically if this were the only match on the card. This would still be a must attend show. Why you ask? (let's just say you asked that and I'm not talking to myself here) Guerilla Warfare matches must be experienced live to be fully appreciated. Not that they aren't still great on DVD mind you, but I think a little something is lost in the translation. You lose out on the feel of the matches (you know, subtle things like the unhuman sound of a chair being crack against someone's head) The same can be said for the past SD/Steen matches actually, which were nearly Guerrilla Warfares themselves. Now take those matches... and turn it up a notch! As Steen said this wasn't going to be another glorfied TLC match. Good god... Start driving to LA now... I mean it (even you in Australia... hop on a Dingo or something and get out here) Storyline is quite good as well, with Steen being a thorn in the side of SD for about a year now. Great stuff with Steen trying to be the one who finally takes SD out, and takes his spot. First by haunting him as the 2nd Super Dragon, then getting SD's best friends to turn on him, and most recently SD costing Steen the PWG title last show. (And if you like long boring write ups, I covered the earlier part of the feud in 2-Year preview, http://www.socaluncensored.com/board/showthread.php3?t=8699 ) Anyway, this is also the first advertised Guerrilla Warfare match since March of 2004. So if you've recently hopped on the PWG Guerrilla wagon (cuz OMG AJ STYLES! I done seen that feller on the TV!) and have never seen a Guerrilla Warfare live... you really should be there for this one. I have a feeling people will be talking about this one for some time to come. Prediction: Super Dragon - Human Tornado/El Generico Vs. Jack Evans/Roderick Strong Thoughts: The match that I'm surprised isn't getting more talk. I mean good gravy maaaaan. I've wanted to see a Jack Evans/Human Tornado match up for some time now, think of the potential dance contest alone! Think of it as a slightly LESS funny "Dance 360"! Plus I think we all remember the display Generico/Evans put on back in November that won Match of the Month honors for that month (though I prefered Bosh-Steen myself) Also notable is the return of Roderick Strong! This isn't the 5 minute squash match Roderick Strong you may have seen in TNA or playing Tekken either. This version of Strong is a freaking murderer in there. And who betta to take what Strong has to dish out then Generico/Tornado? If you've never seen Strong/Evans as team. You are missing out, as they could be the best team in the US right now (better than Val Venis and Viscera even) I don't generally like to plug anything ROH related, but the Evans/Strong matches in that fed are some of the most entertaining tag matches I've seen. Some of their tag team moves have to be seen to believed (we got a sample of one of them at the end of the BOLA 8-man tag) This will also be the last chance Evans/Strong will have to team before they head out to Japan for a tour of DRAGON GATE (which is a huge honor, as they will be the first americans to tour with that promotion. Puro Dorks correct me if I'm wrong) so who knows what new tricks they will try out here. Match them against Tornado/Generico (as we've seen have an amazing babyface chemistry together. Generico in general has become one of the more underated performers in PWG) and you've got yourself a Jim Dandy. If it wasn't for SD-Steen Guerrilla Warfare, I'd say this was the best match on the card. Prediction: Two Skinny Black Guys - Alex Shelley Vs. Scott Lost: Thoughts: Two of my favorites, but I won't spend time on this one as I'm not sure if it'll even happen. Word has it (and "Word" in this case meaning "Lost's MySpace blog") Lost suffered a knee injury in the I-Quit match. So who knows if he'll even be able to wrestle here. Let's hope he can though. Prediction: Scott Lost - Joey Ryan Vs. Kanyon: PWG records: Joey Ryan is 17-19 overall (12-8 as a single) Chris Kanyon was be making his PWG debut. Thoughts: This match features one of the most criminally underutilized WWE talents in recent memory. I'm speaking of course about Joey Ryan... Sylvan? Rosey? What the hell where the WWE thinking? Like Joey Ryan is going to offer Slyvan of all people a Mustache Ride. On the otherside, we have the former WCW Tag, US, WWE Tag Team champion, Kanyon! Now KANYON. was an old favorite of mine from WCW (I used to pick in him WCW Revenge all the time! Though Han Zo Mon which ever one was Hayabusa would usually beat him) From a myriad of different gimmicks, to even being seen be human eyes in the awful "Ready 2 Rumble" movie. He took anything they gave him and best of it, and shined through out. So it's great to see PWG giving him a chance to prove himself once again. And don't worry he won't make a fool of himself ala Vader or Jake Roberts either. I did see his TNA PPV match with Raven from last Sunday. Kanyon looked to be a great shape, and putting in quite an effort (same can't be said for Raven though... yeesh) Anyway, I wouldn't expect a "*****" Classic here. But I do think we'll have alot of fun with this one. Hopefully the "Yay/Boo" thing is in full force tonight. Prediction: Joey Ryan Samoa Joe Vs. Davey Richards: Thoughts: Davey's got a hell of a weekend ahead of him with Joe tonight and Low-Ki on Sunday. Like the Indy version of some horrible College initiation ritual... only Davey won't be required to ingest any undesirable substances (Well, I don't THINK he will) Anyway, I think it's easy to say the Joe match is the more important of the two. As for one, people will actually see this one (no offense meant to WAR. The promotion that is. War, the funk band of the 1970s however can go straight to hell) and Joe is a HUGE name (probably the number one or two name on the Indies) and a win or even a strong showing against Joe can do wonders for the reputation of a relative newcomer like Davey. So if Davey wants to prove his "fighting spirit"... this is a chance of a lifetime. Oh and I'd be willing to bet my collection of art deco furniture, that Davey tries a running forearm in the corner and gets caught in the STO! I know what you saying "That never happens" but I think it will this time! Prediction: Samoa Joe Colt Cabana Vs. Scorpio Sky: PWG Records: Scorpio Sky is 14-13 overall (4-5 as a single) Colt Cabana is 5-4, 4-4 as a single, Thoughts: This one should be alot of fun. I just hope Sky doesn't revert back to a comedy character (which is easy to do against a comedic genius like Cabana) after his mostly serious Scott Lost feud. I liked the new serious Sky damn it. Eh.. whatever happens, I suppose just having Cabana in attendance will be a huge treat! He's JEWISH! on an X-Mas show! Get it? The irony... it boggles the mind. Prediction: Sky - Kazarian/Sabin/TJ/Romero Vs. Daniels/B-Boy/Koslov/Guy w/that Move Thoughts: Hard to really put a match like this into words. But it has all the potential in the world. However it has some big shoes to fill (big shoes to fill... big shoes to fill... big shoes to fill...) if it hopes to match the last PWG 8-man tag. This is also an immense oppurtuntity here for the young pinko, Alex Koslov. Who's in there with 7 wrestlers known the world over (TJ Perkins is HUGE in Guam) This could be just the match up he needs to get people to go from saying "Who?" to "Oh yeah... that guy" Can he do it? Will he realize Rocky Romero is also from a Country known for it's communist ways? Find out tonight! Prediction: Team Kazarian Well... I hope some of that made sense! Really IMO on paper this is PWG's strongest card to date. Honestly several of the matches will probably be worth the admission price alone! Heck if the card was just featured the Guerrilla Warfare, and 4 dance revues featuring monkeys I’d still say this one was a must attend show! So attend! Seriously, what better place to celebrate Christmas… than a Jewish center!!!!! OY! -

What they mean by that is you have to play the Season mode to get the "experience Points" (same EXP points you use for CAWs ETC) You use those points to bring up your Tag Team stats once you've "leveled up" by teaming in the exhibition modes. It's confusing I know....
-
Either two things, Play as the team in exhibition matches, and you'll slowly move up levels OR edit one of the premade tag teams and you'll get their stats.
-
So tragic.... R.I.P. Eddie... you'll be missed.
-
Found this: http://media.putfile.com/Nathvid Shows a couple new moves... including the AJ Styles DDT I wanna play this darn game already!
-
According to GameFaqs "Shuicide is an Emerald Frosion where you drop them on the oposite side... Hard to explain, anyway: It is in." Sounds like some neat moves added so far. Can never be enough of those for me.
-
Reported new moves so far (on GameFaqs) Will keep updating as I see them. A roll out seated dropkick Muscle Buster from the Turnbuckle The Mushroom Stomp A new Chokeslam A new Piledriver A new DDT A new RKO Top rope German Suplex Lionsault into a reverse DDT Shuicide Couple of new powerbombs. New long Baldo Bomb type move Lesnar's Fisherman thing is in there. New Frankensteiner Tigermask Sequence (Runs up them in the corner, slopily, then enziguri's them) 'Finishing Touch' (Start in a normal DDT instead of a reverse DDT and spin into a kinda bulldog). Eddie's Senton RVD's Rolling Thunder as a grapple. 'Drop Out' (start at the ropes on one side then throw the guy towards the other side and he slides on his chest and falls out the ring face first, hilarious!) Crucifix Headscissors (Runs up like a Crucifix Pin, but then brings it around into a headscissors) Couple of new Crusier Sequences Loads of the top rope moves have 'Near' versions where you only jump a very short distance. With the elbow drop he kinda just steps off the buckle and lands it New Ariel Moves: Standing: Sheltons Diving Clothesline A Diving Side Kick, hard to describe. A Diving Crossbody that is kinda frog splash like. I think Orton does them like that. New Ariel Moves: Opponent Down Double Stomp! Hell yeah! It looks good. New Double Team: Tag at the corner. Double elbow to take the oponent down and then one guy give the other a boost to do a standing moonsault onto him. -2 Figure 4's: The new Ric Flair one and a new one which is the same as the new flair one but without the taunting - New submissions, including: a ground head grapple fullnelson, new arm and leg locks, etc - Eugene Dig In (Looks like a wedgie) -Eugene Dog (Steiner-like dog headbutts + Peeing) -Eugene Horse (Rides them around the ring slapping their ass) -Eugene Leg Drop (Eugene does Hogan's legdrop. Loads of massive gestures, excellent) -Eugene Punch (Tarzan chest beat -> Punch Combo ->Windup punch) -Eugene Sledge Hammer (Eugene waves and does an axe handle from the top) -Eugene Up (Eugene Hulks up, perfect animation) -Eugene Whip (Eugene whips them, leapfrogs, then wraps himself up in a ball on the floor, opponent is confused, then Eugene throws them) - LADY OF THE LAKE! -Eugene Elbow (See Leg Drop, but with the People's Elbow) -Eugene Uppercut (Overdone European Uppercut) -Military Drop: Corner Grapple -Samoa Joe's Muscle Buster Groggy on Ropes moves: 'Groin Shaker' - Atomic drops the opponent onto the top rope... Ouch. 'Slingshot Suplex' - Vertical Suplex where he bounces the opponent down onto the ropes and then completes the suplex. 'Springboard Back Elbow' - Tajiri's one... I think it was in the old games, but not from this position. 'Ground at Head' Grapple Slingshot Elbow (He goes to the apron with the opponent down. Pulls back and jumps up and over, turning as he goes (kinda like a cartwheel). He then lands an elbow drop right next to the opponent. Looks very sweet.) - Sounds like an Austin Aries move New Jericho Senton Splash. Crosses his arms as he falls back, looks great. New flipping senton splash from standing too, kinda opens out in a half swanton. MR PERFECT FLIP OVER NECK WHIP IS IN!!!! (YES! That move rules) "New Move: Super Tornado Bomb (Lifts the opponent to the top rope, so he is facing outwards. Puts his arm between the opponent's legs and plants his hand on the opponents chest. He then throws the opponent off the buckle with a slam.")

PWG's "All Star Weekend 2" Takes Place Nov 18 & 19
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Actually as a PWG follower, I'm looking forward to both shows almost equally (can't say I'm too hyped for Frankie/Sabin Vs. Petey/HKK though. Way too random) Night 2 is more of a storyline show, Steen/Bosh, Sky/Lost, SD Vs. SBS have been building for a while now. PWG's feud blow offs have always been something to see. I guess you'd kinda have to have been following the stories for them to really mean something to you. Sky Vs. Lost in particular is one to look out for.... -
Only thing I noticed from the videos is that you climb the side of the cell alot slower this time. Aside from that... basically the same.
-
IGN's Review is up. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/664/664472p1.html They give it a 9.2 So yeah... they seem to like it
-
Geeze, I must have skimmed past that "No CAWs line" while reading. It's a major downer... But IGN did say "Created wrestlers can appear in the Free Agent pool (along with unselected and released WWE Superstars) and you can add whomever you wish from there as long you have room for them and can afford it." SO maybe you just can't draft the CAWs or something. Let's hope that's the case... EDIT: Gamespot edited the Story to read: "Each roster has a maximum of 20 slots, but you aren't required to use that many; however, Yuke's producers told us it's a good idea to have at least 12 wrestlers in your stable. You can even sign up created wrestlers as free agents on to your card--though they'll likely have a tough rode to travel in gaining the popularity of current WWE stars" So CAWs can be used thankfully...

Fairly reliable. They've done Q&As on the game before. And the 32 Wrestlers thing (Wrestlers you can select for Season) is correct. As GamingRing revealed weeks ago that several lower card guys like The Bashams, Paul London and others I'm forgetting right now (as well as Ric Flair) cannot be taken thru the season mode. Pretty sure it's a voice over thing (we ALL wanted those voice overs afterall) or something like that. Very dissapointing... but the lack of HCTP type season mode freedom already killed the season mode for me anyway.
