PWG Presents "Zombies Shouldn't Run" On Saturday,
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Usually about now, I’d post some insanely long preview for the upcoming show… and also usually about now you'd and go read something else. Errr anyway, I never quite finished a full preview this time… BUT I figured I’d use what I already had and post this Mini Preview of sort! SBS vs. Los Luchas PWG Records: Excalibur is 11-13 overall, Disco Machine is 8-16 overall, Phoenix Star is 5-7 and Zokre is 4-8, 2-4 as a duo Thoughts: Really not much to be said about Los Luchas that won’t make you end up sounding like a broken record (or a skipping IPOD for all you moderneers out there) when speaking of their matches. They are one of the most entertaining teams around, and you always get a lot of great high flying action from a Los Luchas match. And SBS last month looked revitalized after adopting their new evil ways. They truly brought the hatred out of the fans. I’m sure there haven’t been as many “Disco is gay” chants going around since the late 1970’s Expect a really entertaining match here (that's so insightful it hurts I know...) Prediction: SBS. Joey Ryan vs. "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli PWG Records: Joey Ryan is 11-16 overall, Double C will be making his PWG debut (Pointless fact: This is the first PWG debut since Sexxy Eddy in May) Thoughts: PWG continues it’s great tradition of bringing wrestling’s best and brightest to Southern California, as they present to you, the much acclaimed Claudio Castagnoli from the great country of Switzerland ! The same Country that brought you cheese, Army Knifes, William Tell, banks in which to store stolen money and of course Johanna Spyri’s immortal HEIDI One of the main draws of this show for me, is the debut of Double C. It’s a happy coincidence that PWG would choose to bring in Claudio Castagnoli, just as I’ve really started to get into his work. He’s really been producing some CHOICE~ (Note: I hate that word) matches in promotions like Chikara, CZW, IWA:MS within the last year or so. His CZW Best of The Best in particular was a real star making outing. And made a few fat guys stand up and go "THAT THERE GERMAN GUY B GOOD!" Can’t wait to see what he has for us here… And plus, he will be facing, perhaps my favorite PWG character, Joey Ryan. Whose luck has really turned around lately, as he’s coming off two big singles victories, over Alex Shelley and Mr. Excitement? Can he make it three in a row and build momentum going into the Battle for Los Angeles? NOW match quality really isn’t in question here, as both combatants as just incredible technical wrestlers (watch out for the lethal SWISS UPPERCUTS from CC) and this is sure to be a real tes.. err Andrew Martin for both of them. My only question here is the Face/Heel dynamic. Now, Joey Ryan of course is despised by the PWG faithful… as he routinely picks on small children, kicks poodles for distance and of course his biggest crime of all…. listening to MxPx {shudder} On the other side, Double C to my knowledge has never played anything but the “heel” so to speak. So who knows what will happen in that respect. , Prediction: Joey Ryan takes it. Davey Richards Vs. Rocky Romero PWG records: Davey Richards is 2-3, Rocky Romero is 6-4 overall Thoughts: AWWWWWWW man. This is the good stuff right here. We almost have a bit of mirror match here, with both men being big practitioners of the JAPANESE FLAVA! Especially with the ye old kicks. Davey Richard (or MR INTENSITY as he’s known in some circles and a few triangles) in particular has really been on a tear in SoCal lately, with impressive appearances for not only PWG but WAR, AWS, UPW and WPW (where he recently won the 2005 “Best of the West” tournament) As weel, as really impressing at PWG’s two anniversary with two SWANK~ (Note: I also hate that word) matches against TJ Perkins and also Shannon Ballard of all people. Also of note here, is the fact that this match will mark Rocky Romero’s first match back from the unfortunate injury that put him out of the NJPW BOTSJ, and as well as his first match back in PWG since All Star Weekend Night 1 (not to mention his first PWG singles since his stellar meeting with current PWG champion AJ Styles at last year’s “Reason for the Season”) Will be at 100%? Will we ever see a dominate white heavyweight boxer? The world may never know. Now, in each write up I like to award.. one match as my "sleeper match of the night" The match I think will take everyone by surprise and make you say "wow... that took me by surprise" and this time, no doubt in my mind, this match will be the sleeper match of the evening. Be ready... for umm something... something good that is. Prediction: Rocky Romero X-Division Title Match Christopher Daniels vs. Chris Hero Past History: Chris Hero/CM Punk vs. Daniels/Messiah – Tango and Cash, Hero vs. Daniels - All Star Weekend Night Two (It’s funny that in all the places these two have both worked over the years… the only place they’ve ever met has been in PWG) PWG Records: Chris Daniels is 10-8-1 overall, Christopher Hero is 4-4 overall My Thoughts: Christopher Daniels has suffered his share of set backs in PWG. As he’s suffered a few losses (Tony Stradlin, Bobby Quance and Frankie Kazarian) but for the most part, Daniels has been on fire in PWG (both figuratively and sometimes literally) for the majority of his PWG career. Scoring victories in his tenure over B-Boy, Hardcore Kid, Nosawa, Jack Evans, Kevin Steen, Alex Shelley, El Generico, Chris Sabin, taking PWG Champion AJ Styles to a 60 minute draw… … But it was his match with Chris Hero at All Star Weekend Night 2 what some would call his greatest PWG bout to date. In a match a bound with psychology, it was Daniels barely escaping with the X-Division title by managing to take Hero’s legs out from under him. Chris Hero, always one to learn from his mistakes and PBS television is coming back to PWG to finish what he started at All Star Weekend. Can only imagine what kind of psychological warfare we'll see from these two ring generals. We could see one for the proverbial ages (proverbially speaking that is) The only flaw in this match… has to be the X-division title being on line. Yeah, we’d all love to see a title change at a PWG event... but come on. That sadly removes alot of possible drama from the match-up. But hey.. it's still two of the best in world right now doing that they do best! Right? Right....? 8) and hey you never can tell.... can you? Heck, your parents could be aliens... like in that TV show "My parents are aliens" not that I've ever actually watched that... My Prediction: I’d like to say that the outcome was in question here… but it really isn’t, Match will be really good though… that’s all that matters. Match for held up PWG Tag belts. Arrogance Vs. Two Skinny Black Guys PWG Records: Scott Lost is 19-11 overall & Chris Bosh is 14-11 overall, 9-1 as a duo, El Generico is 4-6 overall and Human Tornado is 3-11 overall. 1-0 as a duo. Thoughts: I’d be lying if I said that Arrogance matches weren’t the matches I always most look forward to on most PWG cards. Because with in every Arrogance match you are not only guaranteed a high quality contest, but some damn funny pre and post match antics as well. The rise of Arrogance in PWG has been a sight to behold. However, the Arrogance runaway freight train of success and blacker jokes was derailed last month as after what can really only be described as a classic match, Arrogance’s 10 month title reign and Scott Lost’s 13 month death grip on the titles came to an end. Just as Arrogance’s reign came to an end… another team’s legacy… had just begun. As long time crowd favorites, EL Generico and Human Tornado formed what could be the most entertaining tag team since Rene Dupree and Kenzo Sukuzi! You’d really be hard press to find a better “babyface” unit than Tornado and Generico (TNA fans, imagine D-Ray and Shark Boy w/o Lava Girl and WITH talent) Yes, here you have a truly beloved team vs. a truly hated team. This kind of clear cut good vs. evil conflict is usually reserved for Italian weddings and Raiders games. Prediction: I’d say “Two Skinny Black Guys” take the titles. Human Tornado has had great luck in title matches this year, where’s captured the posthumous RevPro Junior-heavyweight title, as well as the AWS Lightweight and the AWS World title. PWG Title Match AJ Styles vs. Kevin Steen Past History: Met in a 2/3 falls match for EWR, a 4-way in PWG and Kevin Steen actually teamed with AJ Styles in EWR against Chris Daniels and Excess 69 PWG records: Kevin Steen is 6-5 overall, AJ Styles is 6-2-2 overall Thought: Now this one is huge, at any given show, you’d be hard press to find two guys in PWG getting better reactions than AJ Styles or Kevin Steen (give or take a Super Dragon of course) Both man, have also been just RED HOT in PWG, Steen with his UNBELIEVABLE match with Super Dragon last month, and AJ with several terrific contests with Chris Daniels and James Gibson. This one should be AMAZING dipped in awesome. And not since Adam Pearce Vs. Frankie Kazarian at Reason for the Season has the outcome of a PWG title match been more in doubt, this really could go either way. I think Kevin Steen is ready for the title, but I also think AJ could realistically hold it a while longer. And could Super Dragon perhaps play a role in the outcome? It’s anyone’s guess… but just because it would be redundant to do a “thoughts and predictions” thread without giving a prediction…. Prediction: Kevin Steen walks out with the gold Plus Super Dragon, who is coming off an unheard of 5 match losing streak! The PUMA PINOY BOY! TJ Perkins (The man with the 14-5 Overall record. The newly single and sassy, Quicksilver! {Insert Rafael Palmeiro joke here} Hook Gun (Hook Bomberry and Top Gun Talwar) Who know what will happen with these guy, stuff like Quicksilver Vs. Perkins, SD Vs. Perkins, Hook Gun Vs. anyone... all should be fun matches. Just can't lose here.... So yeah, attend the show, buy the dvds, read the book ETC... -

Stolen from some board somewhere: Info from a magazine called "GamesMaster".... not much but it's something "For a start, there's a stamina bar metre similar to the one seen in Day of Reckoning. But this time if you're getting tired you can tap the 'sell' button to help your wrestler recover by wheezing and clutching their chest." "Secondly, the Clean and Dirty bars have been combined with the Smackdown! meter to form the all-new 'Momentum' bar, which'll reward high-risk moves and low blows with the ability to pull off special moves." "The Super Clean and Super Dirty moves are more balanced now, too - the 'dirty' option is still the traditional low blow, but the 'clean' option now involves stealing your opponent's finisher." "The number of basic grapples has extended from 16 to 25 thanks to the addition of O as an extra grapple button, and a 'power' Irish whip (for throwing wrestlers over the rope) is available by holding down Square and Triangle." Cage Match Information "There's a new array of face-grating moves, like a knee in the neck. You can also pull off popular moves like the slingshot into the cage. When one wrestler tries to climb out, you can now tug at their shorts instead of just rattling the cage, or climb up and fight for supremacy on the top of the cage. Which happens a lot in real matches." Momentum Meter Information "You need to build Momentum with your wrestler's best moves - high-risk ones if you're clean, and cheating if you're dirty. Once you've done enough to build up your finisher bar, you've got a couple of options to consider: you can do it straight away, to reflect the momentum being on your side, or you can store it to use later, as in previous Smackdown!s. A stored finisher can be used to 'steal' an opponent's taunt, which'll reverse their momentum if they're doing well. If you've got one Smackdown! 'stored', it's time to hit a 'Super Clean' or 'Super Dirty' move, so it's all about knowing the right time to go for the finish." Season Mode Information "One thing Yuke's definitely won't say anything about - apart from promising that it's going to be loads better than last year's - is the Story mode. What we do know is that wrestler voices will be back, and once again proper WWE scriptwriters will be inventing new storylines and events. What we don't know is how much freedom you will have. In previous games you've been pretty much rigidly held to the script the entire way through. For what it's worth, we're hoping for a feuding system where you can deliberately interefere with people's matches until they get so annoyed that they give you a title shot - y'know, like in the real WWE." Example of the stamina system: A screenshot of Triple H performing a knee drop is accompanied by the caption: "A quick knee to the face is fine, but repeated shots will tire out the bloke ding the knee". A screenshot of Undertaker chokeslamming Chris Benoit is accompanied by the caption: "Whereas a move like the Chokeslam takes one big burst of stamina but does huge damage, making it quite efficient - if you can land it." Other Random Bits of Information "Pedigrees can be reversed into a back drop or catapult" "Sledgehammer animations have been improved to look more realistic". "More reversal animations - including countering the RKO by throwing Orton onto his back". "25-30% more polygons-per-wrestler" "Improved facial animations show whether wrestlers are angry, scared or just plain tired" Just to clarify then, nothing is mentioned about 20 foot ladders in SvR 2006, but they are mentioned in the DoR 2 information on the next page, and I can't imagine that they would be included in DoR 2 and not SvR 2006."

The scoop on CZW's venue change for TOD
PsychoDriver replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
That is so hilarious.... I could make a website right now, that said only "Cheese comes from pigs" and it wouldn't be a lesser website than DOI. Too bad all this pathetic BS always gets in the way what really matters, the wrestling! Does "wrestling" really even need to be commissioned in the first place? So glad CA doesn't have this crap.... -

The 2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaga
PsychoDriver replied to a topic in General Wrestling
“Unofficial 2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza” preview by Paul “Totally not fake name” Newberry and Jay “Also totally not a fake name” Doring Hello! Welcome another one of these darn things (PWG Preview #22 actually. I don’t what’s more sad, the fact that I did 22 previews or that I counted them. I’ll leave that up to you) Ok, PWG has a lot of matches announced this time, and I don’t want to write a 30 page preview as much as I know you don’t want to read one. SO each write up will be "slightly" more abridged this time around. But first... I have a quick Question, do you remember where you were on July 26th 2003? Drunk in a gutter somewhere? Watching that episode of “Small Wonder” where Vicki’s evil twin “Victoria” locks her in a box and tries to take her place as the robot of the house? Or just lost in the bottomless sea of your own personal lament? Yeah me too… but after that I did happen to attend the very first Pro Wrestling Guerrilla show at “Frank and Son’s” I remember it if as it were only 24 months ago. No one knew what to expect from this new promotion. Would it last? Or quickly burn out like all the other “SoCal Super feds” that came before it? (Looking at you, EPIC) The sounds of Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” echoed through the arena. As ring announcer Jon Ian came down to get things started with the most random 6-person tag ever! Followed by a rookie Chris Bosh getting knocked cold via Excalibur’s mighty Minnesota lariat, AXP and The Ballards having a hell of match, Super Dragon took on M-Dogg 20. The cheery young X-Foundation met Hardcore Inc in one a really heated contest, and in the main event AJ Styles made his SoCal debut against The Coolest Man on this or any other planet, Frankie Kazarian. Little were we aware at the time, but that afternoon we witnessed the seeds planted for a promotion that would soon grow into one of the world’s finest. Some of the many unforgettable highlights of PWG’s first year included: -- Frankie Kazarian winning the Bad Ass Mother 3000 (in front of a 110 people no less! Where were all you people then?) to become the first PWG champion. --Joey Ryan and Super Dragon’s series of matches, including the unfathomable Guerrilla Warfare match-- --BJ Whitmer's debut in December, that changed all our lives forever --The star studded “Tango and Cash Invitational” where B-Boy and Homicide were crowned the first ever PWG Tag Team Champions. --The AXP Deluxe Vs. PWG Feud -- the Osaka Pro Invasion -- The Tag Titles changing hands every show -- Samoa Joe and American Dragon's 30 minute draw. -- The Oven Mits -- The Frankie Kazarian vs. Adam Pearce feud, which all culminated in the blockbuster Loser leaves town Steel Cage match at the huge “Reason for the season” first anniversary show. From there, in PWG’s 2nd year of operation, the promotion continued to make strides and evolve with each passing show. As well as seeing an influx of the world’s top talent entering PWG on a monthly basis, as the likes of Kevin Steen, El Generico, Jack Evans, Austin Aries, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams, Alex Shelley, Roderick Strong, Sexxy Eddy, Davey Richards, Team Chikara, and James Gibson all made their way through PWG for the first time. As well as the top SoCal's best and brightest taking their games to a new level, As Scott Lost and Chris Bosh (Better known as Arrogance) emerged as the hottest tag team in wrestling today. Plus who could ever forget The Super Dragon Vs. Samoa Joe feud? Or Super Dragon and Joey Ryan putting their feud to rest once and for all in the greatest match in PWG history at Use Your Illusion 4? PLUS The top Indy star in country, AJ Styles made PWG his home, and captured the PWG title and our hearts at the colossal ALL STAR WEEKEND Double Shot. PWG’s biggest shows to date, which drew in fans from around the globe. One can only wonder what the future of PWG has in store for us…fortunately we don’t have to wait long to find out, as on July 9th and 10th they will present 2nd anniversary blow out! Entitled the “2nd Annual PWG Bicentennial Birthday Extravaganza!" Yes, it’s PWG’s birthday, and breaking with tradition... they are giving us a present! As they will put on not one, not three, not even seven but TWO WHOLE SHOWS in a weekend filled to the very brim with fun, Mr. Excitement and the kind of action that only PWG can bring you! (Good lord I’m shill… you’d think I was getting paid for this or something. Also remember to buy Crest toothpaste, Firestone Tires and to drink your ovaltine) Let’s get this started…. “Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams Vs. Ricky Reyes! Past History: First Time ever meeting. PWG Records: Petey Williams is 1-1 overall, Ricky Reyes is 12-7 overall Jay Doring's Thoughts: There are some truly great exits in recent entertainment history. Example: Steve Rhodes becoming a forest ranger in "Married with Children." Joel Robinson getting shot down to Australia in an escape pod hidden in a box of hamdingers (but not before imparting the wisdom of Dr. Lao) in Mystery Science Theater 3000. And who can forget Maude Flanders getting shot with a t-shirt gun on The Simpsons? And now...Ricky Reyes will leave sunny SoCal for the smog-filled East Coast to pursue his dream of...whatever dream he has, but not before going against that guy who does that move, Petey Williams. This match is a true test for the former Havana Pitbull. Reyes has been trying to valiantly make an individual identity for himself since Rocky Romero became Black Tiger #4. He's had mixed success in PWG, defeating Roderick Strong and NOSAWA, but losing to Frankie Kazarian and Chris Sabin. Petey Williams is one of the hottest names on the Indies, and defeating him would go a long way toward establishing Reyes as a singles force. Plus there's the (IWA-MS) MATTER OF PRIDE. This is Reyes' swansong in PWG, and like Bill Clinton, he wants a legacy, and he wants to make sure that legacy won't be Canadian Destroyer Victim #4578. All signs point to Reyes winning, but Petey HAS THAT MOVE~! Prediction: The CANADIAN DESTORYER! Oh and Petey Williams too. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. Chris Sabin Past History: Have met many times. Including recently on TNA PPV for the very same X-Division title. PWG Records: Christopher Daniels is 9-7-1 overall (8-4-1 as a single) Chris Sabin is 1-2 (1-1 as a single) Jay Doring’s thoughts: You look up the word "winner" in the dictionary....you know, anyone who starts an article with "you look up [x] in the dictionary is pretty lame. But you know, these two Chris fellas both tend to win a whole lot. Daniels is on a major streak in PWG, successfully defending his X-Division title against Chris Hero, Alex Shelley and El Generico in PWG, and has one of the longest reigns with that belt to date. Chris Sabin, on the other hand, is enjoying a renaissance on the independent scene, adding the Jeff Peterson Cup to his trophy-filled mantle (which includes the IWC Super Indy tourney, the Super X Cup and the Detroit Regional Belly-Dancing title). Interesting to note in this match, is that this is Christopher Daniels' first title defense in PWG against a fellow employee of NWA-TNA, and not only that, against someone who is generally unbeatable in X-Division title matches. During Sabin's two title reigns, he was never pinned uno dos tres for that belt. In an X-Division environment, Chris Sabin is king. Further playing in Sabin's favor is the fact that Daniels has a PWG championship match the very next night. While Daniels is usually one of the smartest and coolest wrestlers in the game, the lure of taking out his nemesis AJ Styles or FORMER WWE CHAMPION Jamie Noble may cause him to give Chris Sabin the short shrift. To "smark" this preview up a bit- While there are long odds of an X-Division title change happening outside Universal Studios, you never know what is happening in the minds of the D squad (Dusty, D'Amore, Dutch and Dixie). A title change happening in PWG may in fact result in a mutually beneficial interest spike for both promotions- this one is NOT a foregone conclusion folks...but I'm going to go with the safe pick like I always do (DAMN YOU BELLAMY ROAD!) and pick Daniels. Prediction: Christopher Daniels retains Titles vs. Masks Scott Lost and Chris Bosh© vs. The Aerial Express The Aerial express way to the gold~! (Featuring 15% new material and only 10% fruit juice) Our story begins in October of 2004, where after months of inactivity, at PWG’s Use Your Illusion 3. The AXP embarked on the long and winding road to the PWG Tag titles. As they defeated the team of Disco Machine and Excalibur to earn their first shot at the PWG tag team titles. Two weeks later at PWG's Use Your Illusion 4. The AXP received their shot at the gold… as they met the new champions Arrogance (Scott Lost and Chris Bosh) The AXP gave the champs more than a run for their money, as they took them to the very limits (that’s so cliché I know) but before the match could come to a conclusion. Arrogance’s then stable mate Babi Slymm saw fit to interfere on their behalf. But after a miscommunication with Lost/Bosh. Slymm ended up spearing his own stable mate Chris Bosh! Scorpio Sky made the cover on the incapacitated Bosh, and it looked like he had the match won. Referee Hernandez crawled over… but instead of counting the fall, called for the disqualification due to Slymm’s interference! The AXP had been robbed their opportunity at the tag team titles, and Arrogance had lived to fight another day. Undaunted, The Express kept on rolling as they fought their way back to another title shot defeating Kevin Steen/El Generico, and The Havana Pitbulls along the way. At "All Nude Revue" The AXP received their 2nd shot at the titles. In another thriller, the tandems engaged what could be considered (least in my opinion) the best PWG tag team match this year. With both teams knowing each know so well, the bout was nothing less than a symphony of tag team brilliance. But in a real nail biter, The Aerial Express once again came up short, as Arrogance’s sly craftiness once again enabled them to escape with the titles as they used an underhanded leverage tactic to steal one. The anger of being cheated out of the titles once again, caused Scorpio Sky to explode (Yes, he literally explode! Pieces of him were everywhere. Was horrible) as he attacked Referee Patrick Hernandez (who’d twice now cost them the titles), and vented his anger by throwing chairs into the ring. The two team’s path’s crossed once again at “All Star Weekend Night One” where the AXP and Frankie Kazarian were victorious over Arrogance and Joey Ryan in a 6-man tag after Kazarian pinned Bosh. A small measure of revenge if nothing else… The next month, The AXP returned to the title hunt and were victorious over Hook Bomberry/Top Gun Talwar and The Ballard Brothers in a 3-way dance. Afterward the AXP led the fans in attendance in a chant of “One more shot” (they weren’t referring to that drunken fan either… though he may have thought they were) And the following month at PWG’s “Guitarmageddon" they finally earned that shot by defeating the formidable “Los Luchas” and it appeared the AXP would finally get the opportunity they’d long awaited. But Arrogance made their way to ring side to rain on the AXP’s parade once again. They stated that they had already beaten them twice and refused to wrestle them again…. unless they agreed to put their masks on the line! Arrogance wanted to be rid of The AXP for good. With their backs against the wall, the AXP had no other choice but to accept the stipulation This was not a sign of desperation on behalf of the AXP, I think the best way to describe it... is sheer determination. In their 2 years in PWG, the Aerial Express had conquered every obstacle thrown in their paths… except one… Arrogance. And with 9 months of building frustration behind them, The AXP would refuse to be denied again and are willing to put EVERYTHING on the line to capture what rightfully belongs to them! At Night One of PWG’s 2 Year Anniversary, Will the AXP at last realize their dream? Or forever perish in the attempt? July 9th… It’s the biggest tag team match in PWG History…. BE THERE! Past History: A ton! Not even going to attempt to recap it all (unless you want this to be a 30 page preview after all) PWG Records: Scott Lost is 19-9 overall & Chris Bosh is 14-10 overall, 9-0 as a duo. Quicksilver is 11-11, Scorpio Sky is 10-11, 7-3 as a duo Thoughts: If you happened to ask me “Hey, where’s bathroom?” I’d probably say “down the hall and to the right… Can’t miss it” But if you already knew where said bathroom was located… and instead asked me “Hey, what match are you most looking forward on these two shows?” I’d stare at you blankly and wonder where my wallet was. But after I found it, I’d without hesitation have to say Arrogance vs. Aerial Express. In my humble opinion, this is the biggest tag title match I can remember anywhere in years (Go ahead… name a bigger one… I dare you. Heck I triple dog dare you) Not only is the story behind it, a fine example of wrestling storytelling at its finest. But the last two meetings have been just incredible. I would rank among the best ever in PWG thus far. Each featuring more well thought out moves than a Gary Kasparov match. So I don’t think I’m going out on a limb at all when I say this is my best for match of the entire weekend. Prediction: WOW, this is a really tough prediction to make. It could realistic go either way (I think AXP could survive just fine without their masks... their talent speaks for itself) but… I’d have to say The Aerial Express takes it. (Arrogance are really running out of challengers) 6-Man Elimination GRUDGE MATCH The New "S.B.S." Kevin Steen, Excalibur, Disco Machine vs. Super Dragon, El Generico, Human Tornado BACKSTORY: (Read my SD/Disco vs. Excalibur/Kevin Steen back story from my last preview (http://www.socaluncensored.com/board/showthread.php3?t=8546 ) for the first part of this story) June 11th, at Guitarmageddon, this war raged on as Kevin Steen and Excalibur faced off with Super Dragon and Disco Machine. Only this time minus the sneak attacks and the element of surprise… and plus one seriously pissed off Super Dragon. Before the match started, While Kevin Steen was desperately fighting off the rather large amount of crowd support, he was receiving (He’s a heel damn it!) Steen mentioned that he had entered PWG for two reasons… 1. To take Super Dragon out (not to lunch either) 2. to win the PWG title… not to win the admiration of the crowd! He then proceeded to threaten some near by fans (something we’d all like to do sometimes) Then Excalibur rocked the M.I.C. and explained that he was fed up with Super Dragon’s ego and all of the oppression brought about by it (He actually used much harsher terms than that… but this is a family preview) He also related the fact that this issue wasn’t with Disco Machine, but solely with Super Dragon. And Disco was free to join them if he so pleased… After this Super Dragon and Disco Machine hit the ring (really hard… with their heads) and just like that this match was on like Donkey K… umm too 90’s… let’s just say it was on like another random video game character… This intense hate and rasberry filled contest, saw both teams tear each other limb from limb. As the bout winded down. Disco (who was on the business end of a Prison grade ass kicking for the majority of the contest) had things going this way with Excalibur. But Super Dragon, so eager to vent his rage on the opposition… demanded Disco Machine tag out. Only Disco ignored the request and kept piling on the punishment. Disco’s offensive advantage proved fleeting as he and Excalibur both found themselves flat on the canvas. The furious Super Dragon entered the ring and forcibly dragged Disco to the corner and layed in a shot for good measure. Super Dragon was the proverbial house of fire, as he ripped EX a new one and spiked his former friend with the Psycho Driver for the sure pinfall… when Disco Machine broke up the fall! (He’d obliviously came around to Excalibur’s way of thinking, after he had just experienced Super Dragon egomaniacal ways first hand) After confronting Super Dragon, Disco dropped him with the Disco Bomb. This left Dragon open for TWO package piledrivers from Steen. Which was more than enough for the pinfall. Afterward the beat down continued, as the NEW SBS unit of Kevin Steen, Excalibur and Disco Machine destroyed SD. Just when it appeared all was lost… EL GENERICO AND HUMAN TORNADO rushed to ringside and cleared the ring! Then Excalibur and Kevin Steen mentioned some words, to Generico and Tornado.. umm which I’m really sick of hearing about. Let’s just say they reverted to 1970’s pro wrestlers and called them “scum sucking dogs” So the stage was set, as these six combatants will collide in an elimination 6-man grudge match! Tensions are at an all high, will The SBS accomplish their mission of removing Super Dragon from PWG for good? Or will the wrath of Super Dragon once again prevail and put this these suckas in line? Find out July 9th! Past History: Steen and SD have met 5 times total, Steen has met Generico a billion times, Excalibur has met El Generico twice in CZW, faced Human Tornado once in a tag match at “Uncanny X-mas” and faced SD a myriad of times, Disco has had a few other tags against Human Tornado in past, and has a lot of history with Super Dragon (including two pinfall victories over him in other promotions) PWG Records: Kevin Steen is 4-5 overall, Excalibur is 10-12 overall, Disco Machine is 7-15 overall. Super Dragon is 24-9 overall, El Generico is 3-5 overall and Human Tornado is 2-10 overall. Thoughts: Ah the old elimination tag match. How I love thee… You know over the years the SoCal scene has experienced some classic elimination tags. For instance, the RevPro Match of the year for 2002 "Don't Call it a Comeback" Super Dragon/Disco Machine/Excalibur Vs. Mr. Excitement/TARO/Rising Son, RevPro's "Pride of the mask 3" 6-man, The “88 Miles Per Hour” 10 man main event among other. IMO this one will easily continue that great tradition. Everyone involved matches up extremely well… we’ve all witnessed what Steen can do in there with El Generico and Super Dragon (more on that later) As well as what Super Dragon can produce with his former partners. Plus when the Human Tornado is involved in a match up… you never can know what to expect! I shudder to think of a Steen-Tornado exchange. Match dynamic itself is very interesting. It’s a mirror match in some respects, with Disco and Excalibur recreating SBS with a new “Super Dragon” in Kevin Steen. With SD recreating the SBS with El Generico and Tornado (or Generic Tornado as I call them) as the new and improved(?) Excalibur and Disco Machine. I guess what I am really trying to say. is.... WHY WAS JOAN OF ARCADIA canceled? SO MUCH POTENTIAL! I could listen to Joan talk to god all day. Oh and also this will be a SUPER MEGA ULTRA MEGA (Did I say mega already?) fun match... that shouldn't be missed! Prediction: Kevin Steen, Excalibur and Disco Machine. PWG CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH AJ Styles © Vs. Mystery Opponent Probably the biggest question of this entire weekend is “Who the heck is AJ’s mystery opponent going to be?” Well like you, I haven’t a clue as to who it is. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (actually I just slept in the alley behind one… that still counts right?) so that gives me the authority to run down some potential suspects! Now it’s a big wrestling weekend elsewhere in the US, with promotions like CZW, IWS, IWA: MS and others all are running big shows as well… so that limits the potential candidates considerably. But let’s see who is left: American Dragon: He seems a likely suspect don’t you think? But count him out, as he’s actually booked in England this weekend. Beside he’s retired! (wink wink) Milano Collection AT: A top Japanese talent who is in the US with TWA in Texas right now. SO it IS possible… but probably not likely. He’s a hell of a wrestler and would produce a classic with AJ. Bobby Quance: He’s in the Navy for some 6 years. But what would stop this sentimental PWG favorite from making one appearance? Hardkore Kid: Recently released from the WWE (who TOTALLY gave him a fair shake) could he be making his big return to PWG against AJ Styles? An NWA:TNA regular perhaps? PWG has gone TNA crazy lately... so it's highly possible. I’ve heard names like Elix Skipper, Abyss, X-Pac and Erik Watts thrown around. I personally hope this isn't the case. I’m not a fan of the majority of TNA’s roster at all. But I know some of PWG’s newer fans would probably get a kick out it. But who cares about them… it’s all about ME! ME! ME! An Ex-WWE talent? Sure, bring on AJ Vs. the Honky Tonk Man! Hmm really it’d be great if they swing someone like a Rhino or someone else with some actual talent. Adam Pearce: I’m a huge fan of Pearce’s work. He’s one of the best heels in wrestling right now. But returning to PWG would sort of retroactively taint the legacy of the “Loser Leaves Town” match last year. I’d like to have PWG known as a promotion that live up to their stipulations. Someone already on the card perhaps? So who will be? Why Jardi Frantz of course. Why even ask? Seriously… whoever it may be… I’d expect them to be real high quality competition for AJ Styles. PWG has never been a promotion that let it’s fans down… and I wouldn’t expect them to start now! Also appearing at Night One will be: "Technical Wizard" Joey Ryan, Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre,) Davey Richards, HookGun (Hook Bomberry & Top Gun Talwar,) PWG Commissioner "SoCalVal" Valerie Wyndham, and more! I’d really like to see them add Davey Richards Vs. Joey Ryan and Los Luchas Vs. HookGun. Both of those would be a lot of fun. End Part 1….. Now’s let’s the do the little Trivia thing, Coming up with Semi-difficult PWG trivia questions is kinda tough. So here are three quick ones that longtime PWG fans should have no trouble with at all, you “TNA bandwagon jumpers” may have a problem with it though: 1. Name all the wrestlers that have competed on every PWG show to date. 2. How many wrestlers who’ve appeared in PWG, have also appeared in ECW? 3. Which of the following 5 matches was NEVER announced for a PWG Show: 1. Bobby Quance Vs. Joey Ryan 2. Adam Pearce Vs. B-Boy 3. American Dragon Vs. Ricky Reyes 4. Disco Machine/Excalibur Vs. Colt Cabana/B-Boy 5. Super Dragon Vs. Josh Prohibition NIGHT 2~! "The Pinoy Boy" TJ Perkins vs. Davey Richards Back Story: At All Star Weekend Night Two, PUMA defeated Richards as a part of a 4-way. Later that month the two met again on Richard’s home turf of ECCW in Canada… where PUMA again defeated Richards in a singles match as part of the Pacific Cup Tournament. Two months later at “Guitarmaggedon” the two met again, this time as a part of a 3-way dance also involving the Human Tornado. Once again, PUMA was able to score a pinfall over Richards. Frustrated with his inability to defeat PUMA…Richards returned to ring side later in the match and got some payback on PUMA with the ultimate disrespect to any masked competitor…HE REMOVED his prized mask! (Bestowed upon him by the Aztec Indians giving him all the powers of the PUMA MAN) and much to everyone’s shock… it was…. THE SAME GUY IT WAS THE LAST TIME HE WAS UNMASKED!. Now on July 10th, the now mask less TJ Perkins seeks retribution Davey Richards! BEWARE THE PUMA Mr. Richards. Past History: Met in the opening 4-way at All Star Weekend Night 2, and the Guitarmageddon 3-way. Plus a singles match in the NWA ECCW Pacific Cup Tournament. PWG Records: PUMA/Pinoi/Y Boy/TJ Perkins is 13-5 Overall (10-1 in One on One matches) Davey Richards is 1-2 (with both defeats coming at the hands of PUMA) Thoughts: PUMA has become more highly decorated than Elton John’s bathroom in the past year, making it to the finals of both the Super 8 and ECCW Pacific Tournaments, wrestling on the East Coast for the “Ring of Honor” and FIP promotions, amongst several stints in New Japan.. as well as putting together one of the most impressive singles records in PWG. Davey Richards on the other hand has been a real shot in the arm for the SoCal scene. First making his name in the “Pro Wrestling WAR” promotion (where he had several acclaimed match with the likes of Chuck Mercury, Hook Bomberry and Super Dragon) Before he finally made his way to PWG in April… where he wasted no time in impressing the PWG faithful by hitting a jaw dropping Shooting Star Press to score a fall over Excalibur in the opening contest of the All Star Weekend. No doubt in anyone mind that Richards has a bright future ahead of him, and is one of the prospects in wrestling today. So what happens when you mix, two of the top young stars in wrestling today, each with something to prove? Simple, you get a hell of a match. And the match I’m awarding my pick for the sleeper match of the weekend. Prediction: Davey Richards Mr. Excitement vs. "Technical Wizard" Joey Ryan Back story: At “Jason Takes PWG” Mr. Excitement came out of retirement for the 3rd time and teamed with Disco Machine to take on Arrogance w/Joey Ryan. During which Joey Ryan interjected and was caught with an EXPLODAH!!!! into the corner at the hands of Mr. Excitement. But the distraction was enough to buy Arrogance enough time to score the victory. At Guitarmaggedon! Joey Ryan reversed his curse by defeating Alex Shelley via the aid of the ropes in an outstanding contest. But later in the evening returned to the ring and issued an challenge to Mr. Excitement. Citing the Jason Takes PWG incident and the fact that they've never had a one on one contest as reasons for the challenge. After a verbal exchange between the two, Mr. Excitement agreed to come out of retirement (AGAIN) to answer Joey's challenge. And on July 10th, the match is signed, sealed and delivered.. as Joey Ryan will take on Mr. Excitement for the first time ever! Past History: While they've never had a One on One match, they do have some history: Joey Ryan, Mr. Excitement & Cyberspace Vs. Excalibur, Disco Machine & Jason Allgood - CCPW Joey Ryan/Scott Lost Vs. Mr. Excitement/Rising Son – RevPro 10/23/02 Joey Ryan Vs. Mr. Excitement Vs. Hook Bomberry Vs. TARO – RevPro 02/08/03 Joey Ryan and Scott Lost Vs. Mr. Excitement/Angel – RevPro 05/25/03 Joey Ryan, Scott Lost & Super Dragon (that's some team eh?) Vs. Mr. Excitement, Angel & TARO – RevPro 06/14/03 PWG Records: Joey Ryan is 11-16 overall, Mr. Excitement is 1-2 overall More of Jay Doring's thoughts: In most indy feds, fan's get in a ti a zzy when a major "name" is announced, but in the end it's the workhorse locals who carry the promotion and earn its core fanbase. For years, there were no better homegrown talent (barring that guy in the funny mask) than two men: Joey Ryan and Mr. Excitement. Now, at PWG's Bicentennial Birthday Bash, they face off in a singles match for the first time ever. Mr. Excitement, for newer fans not fully aware of who he is, was a true impact player in California. A founding father in Revolution Pro, he won the 2002 RevJ tournament and had a major feud with Super Dragon, where unlike Joey, he actually WON once in a while. He also toured Japan's Osaka Pro Wrestling, along with Disco Machine last year. However, he was in retirement when PWG took off, and he's looking to re-earn his fame with a win over top player Ryan. For Joey, Mr. Excitement represents a major psychological. As stated, Excitement has beaten Super Dragon several times, something Joey has only done decisively once (at the Bad Ass Mother 3000). Joey, on his road to the the title, NEEDS to know he can beat top-tier competition, and that's Mr. Excitement. As he did against Alex Shelley, I fully expect Joey to pull out all sorts of chicanery to pick up a much-needed victory. Prediction: Joey Ryan Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) vs. Chris Sabin & Petey Williams Back Story: At PWG’s All Star Weekend, Arrogance had their first run in with Sabin and Williams. As Lost was on the receiving end of Petey Williams’ Canadian Destroyer in the aftermath of a 6 man tag. The following night, Williams defeated Arrogance's running buddy, Joey Ryan. And Frankie Kazarian and Chris Sabin w/ Petey Willams at ringside set out to accomplish Kazarian's goal of ridding PWG of the Arrogance monster he had created back in September (see the "Ernest" preview for that story) and Kazarian/Sabin looked have to the match won when Williams snuck in and planted Bosh with the Destoryer... but Lost pulled the ref out of the ring before he could count to 3! Soon after Lost countered Kazarian's victory roll in Owen Hart like fashion to finally pull out the victory over their former leader. On July 10th, Frankie Kazarian's legacy lives on... as Chris Sabin and Petey Williams return to do his bidding and attempt to finish what Frankie started by taking out Arrogance once and for all! Past History: Arrogance Vs. Chris Sabin/Frankie Kazarian - ASW Night 2. PWG Records: Scott Lost is 19-9 overall & Chris Bosh is 14-10 overall, 9-0 as a duo, Chris Sabin is 1-2 overall, Petey Williams is 1-1 overall. Jay Doring’s Thoughts: "The Model" Rick Martel was one of my favorite midcard characters back in the golden era of the WWF. The prototype for such luminaries as Mark Jindrak and Chris Masters, Martel would flaunt his Carlito-like "Cool" with a big button that said "Yes, I Am a Model" and sprayed "Arrogance" perfume in people's faces. And I'm sure that up there in heaven, Tag teaming with Road Warrior Hawk until Animal makes his debut, he is proud that such a stellar tag team has named themselves after his fragrance Paul Newberry: Umm Jay… Martel isn’t dead… Jay: What do you mean he isn't dead? Ok then… last time I read Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Newberry: Yeah, that's something most people said when they were 9. Jay: Hey, I like the pictures.... Where was I? Oh yeah... "The Professional" Scott Lost and "Goodwill Ambassador" Chris Bosh have had a record-setting joyride with the PWG tag team titles (not hard since the previous record for defenses was "1") and gotten past every tag team in SoCal, including the Havana Pitbulls and the SoCal Dream Team of B-Boy and Super Dragon. Now they face Team TNA in the form of "Ontarian Wrecker" Petey Williams and Chris Sabin. Arrogance have already defeated a combo from TNA at All Star Weekend Night 2, when Sabin teamed up with Frankie Kazarian. However, Kazarian probably had his mind on whether he should nail Angel Williams or Alexis Laree first while in OVW, and thus he and the other guy named "The Future" fell to the champs. This entire match, in my mind, is predicated (oooh, look at the big word I used!) on the outcome of their tag title match on the first night. If they win, Arrogance add another notch to their tag team bedpost (and yes, I phrased it that way on purpose.) If they lose to the Aerial Express, I see some sort of miscommunication slipup that leads to a defeat for Lost and Bosh. I see the second instance happening, and the future will look uncertain for the best tag team in PWG history. Plus, CANADIAN DESTROYER~!~!~! Winners: Petey/Sabin My Prediction: Arrogance have to take this one. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. James Gibson Back Story: At “Jason Takes PWG” AJ Styles fresh off doing the impossible at PWG’s All Star Weekend went title for title with long time rival Christopher Daniels. With so much on the line, and neither man wanting to make a costly error… engaged in a game of human chess for the full 60 minute time limit. AJ Styles wanting to be a fighting champion, challenged Daniels to go 5 more minutes… But the cowardly/wise/tired/funky Christopher Daniels declined the offer, stating that the fans didn’t deserve 5 more minutes of Christopher Daniels. Although the match was ruled a draw, AJ took home the moral victory and the admiration of the fans. The very next month at "Guitarmageddon" AJ Styles in the grand tradition of PWG champions past put the title on the line one of the cream of the Indy crop as he faced Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion James Gibson for the first time ever. The match was everything it was billed as and more, as the two southern superstars put on a wrestling clinic the likes of which isn’t seen very often in today’s wrestling circles. In the end, AJ Styles defeated cunning Gibson with the Styles Clash to successfully defend the PWG title. Now assuming he makes it past whomever his mystery challenger on Night 1 happens to be, AJ will now have to defend his PWG title against BOTH Christopher Daniels and James Gibson! But past PWG History in Three and Four way Dances isn’t on his side… as he’s been unsuccessful in two previously. On July 10th, AJ Styles faces his most daunting challenge in PWG to date! When the smoke is cleared and the blood and entrails are mopped up… who will earn the right to be called… champion? (umm assuming it’s for the title of course! =) Past History: AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels have met 43 billion times around the world in recent years. Here’s just a sampling of their past 3-way dances: AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Frankie Kazarian – PWG AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels Vs Chris Sabin – IWC AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels Vs Homicide – IWC AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels Vs Chris Sabin – MXPW AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels Vs CM Punk -IWC AJ Styles and Gibson have now met 3 times, once in a WCW tag, once at Guitarmageddon and again last month in another promotion I’m forgetting the name of. This appears to be Gibson and Daniels first ever meeting. PWG Records: AJ Styles is 5-2-1 overall (0-2 in 3 and 4 way dances) Christopher Daniels is 9-7-1 overall, James Gibson is 1-1. Jay Doring Brand Match Thoughts: In my years on this Earth, I have witnessed three great three-way dances. Christopher Daniels, American Dragon and Low Ki at ROH's first-ever show. Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and Steve Austin at No Mercy 2001 Jay Doring, his girlfriend and her trusting virgin cousin in his dreams. Now, PWG is poised to present fantastic 3way dance #4, by pitting PWG champion AJ Styles, Chris Daniels and FORMER WWE CHAMPION Jamie Noble against each other for the most valued prize in Southern California. There's really not much I can say about this other than the fact that it will be fantastic. Daniels and AJ are always a privilege to watch together- the Daniels/AJ match I saw in England was one of my favorite matches and favorite live atmospheres ever. Throw in Redneck Messiah Jamie Noble, still riding high after his win over American Dragon and taking AJ to the limit, and a match can only improve. As for who wins? AJ and Daniels are of course super-familiar with each other, and it's a tossup every time who wins. But then again, James Gibson might suddenly remember he's a FORMER WWE CHAMPION, think to himself, "who are these chumps?" and take them both out in 15 seconds. My guess is that doesn't happen though, and AJ retains (if he even holds it by Sunday) once again by the skin of his teeth Prediction: AJ Styles Number One Contenders Grudge Match "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen vs. Super Dragon Back Story: December 2004… at Combat Zone Wrestling’s Cage of Death 6, Super Dragon and Kevin Steen met for the first time as Super Dragon and Excalibur took on Kevin Steen and El Generico. It didn’t take long for the two bulls to lock horns, exchanging a vicious series of strikes with neither man getting the better of the other. But nothing was settled that night, as SD finally took the fall after pinning El Generico. And the world was left to ponder the possibilities of a Super Dragon vs. Kevin Steen singles match and what would happen if the kids from the Goonies teamed up with the kids from The Outsiders. Fast forward to March 2005, Super Dragon was supposed to meet the “master of the roll up” Tony Stradlin for the PWG title. But when Stradlin was forced to pull off the show… a replacement was needed. PWG’s solution? Give the winner of the Kevin Steen vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. El Generico match, the shot that night! And at "The Ernest P. Worrell Memorial" Kevin Steen managed to survive the grueling fatal 4-way after he scored a pinfall on an unconscious El Generico. With this victory Steen was finally granted an opportunity and Super Dragon and the PWG Title later that night. When it came time for the match, Steen wasted no time in attacking Super Dragon from behind in the aisle way. Steen brought the fight to the Dragon, and despite being involved in a 20 plus minute match earlier in the show, Steen gave Super Dragon his toughest challenge as champion to date, nearly coming away with the title on several occasions and even mocking him by using his own curb stomp against him (I would say “No one does that to Super Dragon” but really everyone does that to Super Dragon lately) Kevin Steen finally looked to have finished off Dragon after spiking him with his patented and legally trademarked “Package Piledriver” but even that wasn’t enough to down the Dragon! “If that one didn’t work, I’ve got one that will” Steen proclaimed as he hoisted Dragon up for the PSYCHO DRIVER! But the wily Super Dragon escaped and gave Steen a message of his own which was “Prepare to meet Kali... IN HELL!” as he managed to planted Steen with his own PACKAGE PILEDRIVER to score the pinfall. Just barely escaping with the PWG title. But the question had to be asked, would Super Dragon have been able to defeat a fresh Kevin Steen? And just what is the deal with Apple Jacks? They don’t even taste like real Apples. The next month at PWG’s All Star Weekend Night One, Super Dragon and Kevin Steen squared in again, this time in a 3-way also involving El Generico. Things again started off with another vicious exchange of forearms, as the two shoved Generico out of the way so they could continue the assault. Later in the match Steen plants Generico with the Package Piledriver and again nearly has the title within his grasp… but somehow Super Dragon recovers and breaks up the fall. Sending Steen to the floor and taking him out with the “tope con HELLO” then returning to the ring and taking out Generico for the victory. Once again after the smoke was clear… nothing was settled between these two proud warriors of the squared circle (too cheesy?) Just as it looked like this issue would be put on the back burner, it took a very strange twist. As it as “Jason Takes PWG” Kevin Steen revealed himself to be the 2nd Super Dragon that had been tormenting Super Dragon since December of 2004 (the week after their first CZW meeting) and had aligned himself with SD’s former best friend, Excalibur. Suddenly… the puzzle pieces were beginning to fit! Steen and Excalibur were determined to destroy Super Dragon once and for all, as Excalibur and Steen propped up a table in the corner… and Excalibur just obliterates Super Dragon with a Tiger Driver 98 though the table, which gets the pinfall. Steen had cost Dragon the match! But before Steen and Excalibur could finish the job, DISCO MACHINE ran in and chased them away… But had the damage had already been done? The next night, at CZW’s Best of the Best 5, Steen and SD had yet another run in, this time in a 4-way with B-Boy and Mike Quackenbush. During which Steen scored his first pinfall on Super Dragon after a package piledriver. Back at the ranch, at Guitarmageddon, Super Dragon and Disco Machine were set to take on Kevin Steen and Excalibur. Before the match started, Steen mentioned that he had entered PWG for two reasons… 1. To take out Super Dragon and take his spot in PWG 2. To win the PWG title. And after he took Dragon out, he was coming for the title. During the bout, SD and Steen again unleashed their fury on one in another, but in the end… after having a falling out with partner, Disco Machine…. Super Dragon was hit with not one but TWO package piledrivers… as Steen once again pinned Super Dragon. And we were left to wonder? Does “Mr. Wrestling” have Super Dragon’s number? And if so what measures would Super Dragon take to change his number, and prevent unwanted calls from Mr. Steen asking him to upgrade his long distance plan? The months of anticipation are at an end, as Super Dragon will face a man who doesn’t want to merely defeat him… but literally destroy him and end his career. Super Dragon has always managed to thrive in the face of adversity… but can even he to able withstand the onslaught of Kevin Steen? Who’ll be at full strength this time around (and with no El Generico around to take the pinfall either) July 10th, Steen Vs Dragon II, A battle of epic proportions…. Who will survive? Past History: Have faced off 5 times in both PWG and CZW (6 times by Sunday) PWG Records: Kevin Steen is 4-5 overall, Super Dragon is 24-9 overall Thoughts: I love this angle, reminds of me the 1987 not so classic “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” Where Lex Luthor (Excalibur) creates Superman’s ultimate nemesis, The Nuclear Man (Kevin Steen) in order to dispose of Superman (Super Dragon) for good. But will Super Dragon be able to recover and throw the Nuclear Man into the sun? Well that’s what we’ll find out here. Of course both men are infamous for their near perfect fluentity in the universal language of violence. And we’ve seen what these two can do against each other in the past. So I don't think match quality is in question here. Get ready for violence, the likes of which only Super Dragon can deliever! Prediction: Kevin Steen PLUS: Ricky Reyes vs. Mystery Opponent number 2 (said to be different than the night 1 surprise) Quick Thoughts: Who will it be? My Magic 8-Ball tells me… “Ask Again Later” Damn it said the same thing when I asked if I could ask another question. Could it be someone from Reyes’ past? Regardless, this could very well be Reyes’ last match in PWG for a while. So let’s give him the send off he deserves. He’s a great talent, that’s incredibly underated but some people “in the know” I’ll never forget the time I saw Ricky Reyes eating in the Food Court at the Ontario Mills Mall in 2004… I was like “Holy crap, that dude looks like Ricky Reyes! CRAP that IS Ricky Reyes!” Good times indeed… we’ll miss ya Ricky. PLUS: El Generico, Human Tornado, SBS (Disco Machine & Excalibur,) Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre,) HookGun (Hook Bomberry & Top Gun Talwar,) PWG Commissioner "SoCalVal" Valerie Wyndham, and more (Will whomever the Night One surprise is appear on Night 2? Unlike Stevie Wonder… we shall see…) FINAL THOUGHTS: I’d expect this to be a real watershed weekend in PWG history. This is an event that will forever change America’s social attitudes and just generally make the world of better place for human kind as whole. Ok, maybe not… but if you are a fan a professional wrestling, you owe to the children to check this one out. Because after all the children are our future! And what is the world without a future? Not a place I’d like to be, I’ll tell you that! Is this making any sense? Yeah didn’t think so…. But do attend this show! Makes a fantastic late Christmas gift! If you can’t attend than be sure to checkout http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com and buy one of PWG's many excellent DVDs!!! Including the new released Guitarmageddon! They are all worth buying... I'd recommend them in order to truly follow the PWG saga as it unfolds! It’s like Shakespeare with slightly more Chuck Mercury. And so ends PWG preview #22. Wow I really need a break from these things…. I mean come one who the hell else “unofficially” does previews for a promotions every show? Something is clearly wrong with me. Anyway, thank you for reading! And thanks to PWG for two fantastic years! Here’s too many more! Found this on another board: "Former ROH champion/current ROH Pure Wrestling champion Samoa Joe has signed with TNA and will debut for TNA at this Sunday's Slammiversary PPV event, facing Sonjay Dutt. There's no word on to the details of the deal yet, but TNA sources have told me that Joe has agreed to terms. In recent weeks, there had been discussions between Joe and World Wrestling Entertainment, although nothing in the form of an official offer. The TNA deal will preclude Joe from following CM Punk, who is expected to sign a WWE developmental deal shortly. The TNA deal will not effect Joe's Ring of Honor obligations. TNA had attempted to sign Joe vs. CM Punk for Slammiversary, but as reported in the Elite Section of PWInsider.com over the weekend, Punk requested a 45 minute window for the two so they didn't have a match that wouldn't live up to the legacy of their Ring of Honor classics, which led to that idea not coming to fruition. All three are different moves. Supernatural Driver is the Pumphandle Piledriver. I figured with this username... I should be good for something. -

Titles" AJ Styles over Gibson after the Styles Clash (really good match) to retain the PWG and NWA World Titles/ Joey Ryan called out Mr. Excitement, and a match was made for next month. Chris Daniels over El Generico to retain the X-Division title Excalibur/Steen over Disco and SD after Disco turned on SD, and joined up with Steen/EX as the new SBS. Human Tornado and El Generico run in to save Super Dragon. A 6 man is made for next month. According to the flyer, the following will appear next month for the 2 year Double Shot: AJ Styles, Arrogance, Chris Sabin, Chris Daniels, Davey Richards, Disco Machine, El Generico, Excalibur, Hook Bomberry, Human Tornado, Joey Ryan, Kevin Steen, Petey Williams, LOS LUCHAS, AXP, Puma, Ricky Reyes, Super Dragon, Top Gun Talwar and "MUCH MUCH MORE" VERY SOLID show. Very tough to name a MOTN as everything was top notch, but Ryan-Shelley (which some guy in the crowd slept thru) AJ Vs. Gibson and The ME were my favs. -
New PWG press release!: PWG Rocks You With "Guitarmageddon" on June 11! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer Emigrant Gap, CA - Much like the famous inventor Archimedes, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) commissioner "SoCal" Valerie Wyndham shouted "Eureka!" after the conclusion of the last PWG event, because the line up for June had more or less booked itself. While Ms. Wyndham doesn't know anything about Archimedes nor his famous phrase, and was actually referencing a mildly successful children's program from the late 1980's, the sentiment remains the same. After a period of relative calm within the PWG ranks, tensions had reached their breaking point, and the shocking betrayal of Super Dragon finally seemed to turn everything on its head. PWG Champion AJ Styles, after fighting Christopher Daniels to a 60 minute draw, told Ms. Wyndham that since the Fallen Angel hasn't proven he can beat AJ in PWG, he's not getting a rematch, and that she should nominate someone new to challenge for the title. Luckily the new commissioner was prepared for this, and shocked AJ, the locker room, and the fans with her announcement that former WWE Superstar James Gibson would be next in line for a shot at the title! Styles said he's prepared to face anyone who wants a shot at him and the belt, no matter who they are or where they've been. Except for Christopher Daniels, for now at least! This was fine by Christopher Daniels, since he looks at the events of May 13th not as a failure to win the PWG Championship, but at a successful defense of the TNA X-Division Championship. Confident that since Styles couldn't beat him, no one else could, Daniels also told SoCal Val that he wants someone new to defend the title against, and she quickly granted that wish. After turning more than a couple heads in the last few months, and his impressive victory last month, El Generico was nominated to be the next challenger for the X-Division title! Incensed, Daniels demanded someone else get the shot, but Val said the decision was final, and that the belt would be on the line when the Generic Luchadore faces the Fallen Angel at "Guitarmageddon!" Speaking of the X-Division Championship, a man who previously challenged for the title at PWG's "All Star Weekend" will be making his return to Southern California when Alex Shelley meets Joey Ryan at "Guitarmageddon!" Shelley was unsuccessful in defeating Christopher Daniels for his title, but impressed SoCal Val enough to be asked back to compete in PWG, and will have no less of a test on his hands as he faces Joey Ryan. While Joey was at ringside with Arrogance last month, he was conspicuously absent from in ring competition, which some have said could have been to shake off some ring rust since coming back from injury. Joey maintains that this is not true, he was merely using some discretion since earlier that week he got a fairly severe ice cream headache, and under doctor's orders, was unable to set foot in the ring. Joey Ryan would be able to silence his critics with a victory on June 11, but his focus should be on Alex Shelley, not the nay sayers in the crowd! While the 60 minute time limit draw was an impressive display of professional wrestling, the biggest news to come out of "Jason Takes PWG" was the revelation that Excalibur was behind the plot to bring down Super Dragon, and that "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen was under the mask of the second Super Dragon! Excalibur claimed that their team, SBS, and PWG as a whole, was too focused on Super Dragon and feeding his ego, rather than loyalty to the team, the other individuals involved in PWG, and elevating them to positions of prominence in the world of professional wrestling. Because of this, Excalibur revealed, he had concocted the Doppelgänger Dragon plot as a to means right the perceived wrongs against him, and getting back at Dragon didn't hurt either. To execute his plan, Excalibur allied himself with a man who he says has limitless potential, a man who, once out from under the oppressive thumb of Super Dragon, will flourish and reach unimaginable heights in the world of professional wrestling, and man whose very nickname speaks of his talent, Kevin Steen. Teaming together as "the true" SBS, Excalibur and Steen have made it clear that they are out to destroy Super Dragon, and anyone standing in their way would be considered an enemy and dealt with harshly. This puts the third member of the original SBS, Disco Machine, in a very precarious position to say the least. Excalibur has extended the offer to Disco to join with he and Steen, while Dragon has pointed out on multiple occasions that he has never betrayed anyone so viciously, while Excalibur has. Either way, Excalibur & Kevin Steen will collide with Super Dragon & Disco Machine! What will happen, true believers? Could this rift amongst former partners tear PWG asunder? Be there on June 11 at "Guitarmageddon!" to find out for yourself! Also at "Guitarmageddon!," Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) may actually show up, and finally face the Aerial Express (Quicksilver & Scorpio Sky,) who feel that the Luchas have been dodging them, and that a victory of them would refocus AXP's attention on the PWG Tag Team Championship. Speaking of the tag titles, Arrogance (Chris Bosh & Scott Lost) have made it clear that they feel there is no more sufficient competition left for them in PWG, and that they are in talks with the Fox Network to orchestrate some sort of "American Idol" type show for the tag team titles. While Fox executives have not responded, and Fox lawyers have sent a cease & desist order to Arrogance, the champions assure us that they have something special in mind for June 11th! Plus Human Tornado, Davey Richards, Hook Bomberry, Top Gun Talwar, and more! Fans who may have missed some of the PWG action, or those who just want to relive some of their favorite moments in PWG history may be interested to know that five new DVD's will soon be available, and the Wacky Fun Time Summer Special is going on over at http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com! PWG Rocks You With "Guitarmageddon" on June 11!
PsychoDriver replied to PsychoDriver's topic in General Wrestling
UNOFFICAL “PWG: Guitarmageddon! Preview” by Paul Newberry w/ Jay “Don’t call me Danny” Doring “The object, Truth, or the satisfaction of the intellect, and the object, Passion, or the excitement of the heart, are, although attainable, to a certain extent, in poetry, far more readily attainable in prose” – Edgar Allan Poe HELLO! And welcome back to another (unofficial) PWG Preview! We were gone last month.... but I'm proud to say that after a huge outpouring of cards, e-mails, singing telegrams and letters, begging like homeless people in front of Save-on Drugs for the return of this column... It's back! (Ok well, actually I only got one letter... and even that had the wrong address on it... but that sounds better than "no one really gave a damn" right?) Although writing this (unofficial) preview is going to tough for me, as due to a transportation issue, I will be forced to miss this show! Making it amazingly (or sadly, depending your perspective) only the 2nd PWG show I've ever missed! So in this column I will be telling you about what a great show I am probably going to miss! That should be a blast…. Anyway, helping me out once again, will be the man you would be hard-pressed to figure out anything positive he's contributed to this board or any others he happens to post on (beside this I guess) www.ParadiseCityNinjas.bravehost.com 's own Jay Doring! {crickets} SO... have anything to say, Jay? Jay: Howdy everybody... Hmmm perhaps I should have made that; "do you have anything interesting to say" Ok, enough idle chit chat (that you people probably skipped past anyway….) Now let's begin.... the countdown..... to.... Guitarmageddon! In today's music, with hip hop, DJ turntable rigs, sampler synths, keyboards, and drum machines quickly becoming the standard…. the good old fashion rock-guitar has been left to whither and die on the vine of abandonment and neglect. So how far will the once mighty guitar’s legacy decline go? And how long will it take to bottom out? Nobody seems to know for sure, but Pro Wrestling Guerrilla for one, is not content on leaving the next generation of music lovers with nothing but recycled, digitally-sampled techno-grooves, quasi-synth rhythms, pseudo-songs of violence-laden gangsta-rap, acid pop, and soulless slush, As on June 11th, 2005 AD… PWG will resurrect the soul of guitar rock as they proudly present GUITARMAGEDDON! Live at the Hollywood-Los Feliz JCC! No. 1 Contenders Match: The Aerial Express (Scorpio Sky & Quicksilver) vs. Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre) previously on "As the Guerrilla turns": At PWG's Use Your Illusion 4. The AXP received their first crack at the PWG Tag titles… but ran into a “slight” bump on the road to the titles. As after an incredible match, Babi Slymm saw fit to interfere and after a miscommunication ended up spearing his own stable mate Chris Bosh! Scorpio Sky went for the cover and it looked like he had the match won. As Referee Hernandez crawled over… but instead of counting the fall, called for the disqualification due to Slymm’s interference! The AXP had been robbed the tag team titles, and Arrogance had lived to fight another day. Undaunted, The Express kept on rolling as they fought their way back to another title shot defeating Kevin Steen/El Generico, and The Havana Pitbulls along the way. At "All Nude Revue" The AXP received their 2nd shot at the titles and again came up short, as Arrogance’s sly craftiness once again enabled them to escape with the titles as they used the ropes for leverage to once again steal one from The AXP. The anger of being cheated out of the titles once again, caused Scorpio Sky to explode (Yes, literally explode!) as he attacked Referee Patrick Hernandez, and vented his anger by throwing chairs into the ring. After this defeat the Aerial Express were once again at a crossroads. But it’s hard to keep a good team down. AXP returned to the title hunt at “Jason Takes PWG” and were victorious over Hook Bomberry/Top Gun Talwar and The Ballard Brothers in a 3-way dance. With the momentum back on their side, The AXP are primed and ready for another crack at the titles they were twice unjustly robbed of . But first… at PWG’s “Guitarmageddon" in order to receive their third shot at the titles and the chance at redemption against Arrogance, they must first get past another team hungry for the gold (and perhaps Tacos) the high flying duo of Los Luchas! (Who are 2-0 in recent PWG meetings against AXP members) It all goes down on June 11th! BE THERE! Past history? : 12-22-02 in RevPro, 6-28-03 in AWS (as part of a 3-way with The X-Foundation) and 10-25-03 in AWS. As well as numerous other related meetings, including Scorpio Sky/Human Tornado Vs. Los Luchas –Ernest Memorial, AXP/Tornado Vs. Los Luchas/Generico – All Star Weekend Night Two, among others… PWG Records: Quicksilver is 10-11, Scorpio Sky is 9-11, 6-3 as a duo Phoenix Star is 4-5 and Zokre is 3-6, 1-2 as a duo My Thoughts: As the famous German "father of natural healing," Sebastian Kneipp, would say….”it is suited for old people, for it warms the stomach." No that's not it... What I mean to say is that, while I haven’t actually seen any of their previous two on two tag team meetings (I’ve really been meaning to buy that Best of The AXP DVD honestly.. but well sometimes in the life you have to make that choice… the ivory backscratcher or a wrestling DVD) but from all published reports, they’ve all been remarkable bouts. However though, I have seen their other meetings in PWG, which were excellent! (is that detail or what?) Really just knowing the style of both these teams, makes it quite simple to envision all the potential this match up has. So expect a fun high flying spectacle here…. Kind of like one of those Martial arts movies where Asians start they start flying around for no explained reason. Ok well maybe… replace flying Asians with flying masked wrestlers, and you’ll get the point.. So unlike LeVar Burton, take my word for it! This one just may steal the show… and your heart! My pick for “sleeper match of the night” My Prediction: The AXP move on to their record 3rd PWG Tag Title shot Match without a catchy subtitle Alex Shelley vs. Joey Ryan The CURSE of Joey Ryan: According to the extremely credible national publication “The Weekly World News” curses are everywhere around us, from the Chicago Cubs losing every year for not letting a Billy Goat attend a game, to Michael Jackson paying 150 grand to put a "voodoo curse" on Steven Spielberg for not letting his Billy Goat attend the more walkie-talkie friendly re-release of “ET”. While in PWG exists perhaps the only curse in recorded history not involving a Billy Goat… this of course being the CURSE OF JOEY RYAN. Think about it, where ever Joey has gone in PWG…. severe misfortune and just plain ole’ bad luck has been sure to follow him like a myspace rat. Some recent examples include: The Next Show: In a Ladder Match with Scott Lost, Joey Ryan had won the match, after he scaled the ladder and captured the tag titles! Only to find the referee had been knocked out! Which gave the First Family the opportunity to interject….and in turn robbed Joey of the PWG Tag Team titles. Use Your Illusion 3: Joey Ryan Vs. Samoa Joe. Joey looks to have the biggest match of his life going his way... until a distraction from Super Dragon costs him the match. Convinced yet? It gets better… Use Your Illusion 4: Joey Ryan went toe to toe with Super Dragon in a grueling Iron Man match. The contest is tied at 3 falls a piece when Joey Ryan destroys Super Dragon with a DUFF DROP to the floor (a move he's beaten him with before) And just when he rolls him back into the ring for the sure pinfall and the biggest win of his life.... the time limit expires! In classic Joey fashion, he ends up losing the match and suffering a serious injury in sudden death overtime. Curse you say? Ernest P. Worrell Memorial: Joey's big return match after 6 months on the shelf! He's just about to finish off Chris Bosh with a chair and let out some repressed rage... when Frankie Kazarian snatches it from his hand! Giving Bosh time to recover and wrap the chair around Joey's head. Costing him his big return match, the tag titles, long awaited retribution and just plain knocking him so silly he thought Hilary Duff’s “Raise your voice” was a good movie... All Star Weekend Night Two: In another high profile match, Joey Ryan after putting up a great fight... fell to Petey Williams. Once again snatching defeat from the mouth of victory. With all this bad luck... it is any wonder that Joey Ryan refused to wrestle on PWG’s Friday The 13th show? Is this startling series of eerie revelations just a coincidence? And what can be done to break this curse? Well in Joey’s case… he needs to finally score that big win. And June 11th at PWG’s “"Guitarmageddon" he’ll have the opportunity to “reverse the curse” as he’ll face another major talent in the name of “The Next” Alex Shelley (fresh off a WWE tryout) who will be looking add a victory over Joey Ryan to his already impressive resume. Will Joey Ryan finally score the big victory and halt his downward spiral? Or will this be yet another setback to be added to Joey’s growing list of PWG misfortunes? Find out June 11th! Past History: First time ever meeting. PWG Records: Alex Shelley is 1-1 overall, Joey Ryan is 10-16 overall Jay Doring's thoughts: Another first-ever meeting on this card may prove to be a lot more heated than expected. At first glance, Alex Shelley and Joey Ryan are strikingly similar competitors. They both started in the business at relatively young ages, gaining notoriety in their home territories. They've both had multiple classic matches with what many people consider their "signature" opponents (Jimmy Jacobs in Shelley's case and Super Dragon in Ryan's.) As former PWG star CM Punk would point out, both of their names are first names, and both last names can be girl's names (hey, I knew a girl named Ryan). Finally, they are both quite popular with the ladies (in Joey's case, both living and dead.) However, Alex Shelley and Joey Ryan differ on one key point, a point that may fuel Joey's newfound dark side rage. Alex Shelley, because of his tremendous ability, has been able to ply his trade all over the world. He's competed for IWA-MS, CZW, ROH,TNA, wrestled for two promotions in Japan and earned a regular spot on Zero-One MAX's' ever-expanding gaijin roster (which now includes my girlfriend's Aunt Ellie, Scott Baio and the cat from "Stuart Little.") Joey Ryan, on the other hand, has one measly CZW show on his high-profile resume outside SoCal (where he fell to the mighty JIMMY RAVE~! BOOK HIM PWG~!) Watching his Border City doppelganger earn such acclaim while he toils on the perpetually sunny, celebrity-filled, bikini-clad shores of Southern California must really eat Joey up something fierce. "Nice guy" Joey would have shrugged and said "oh well," and had an Eskimo pie, but this is new, angry Joey, and in this battle between two "Technical Wizards," expect Joey Ryan to pull out all sorts of mean and nasty shit (no, not Paris Hilton. BA-ZING~!) In order to pick up a key victory in his renewed drive to the PWG Championship. My Prediction: I have to say Joey Ryan takes this one, as he's been winless since August of 2004.... Ouch… TNA X-Division Championship Match: Christopher Daniels © vs. El Generico Now it's time for the first… and perhaps last installment of Jay Doring's "WHY THEY'RE FIGHTING" Since I'm a noted pro wrestling INSIDER JOURNALIST~! (Just ask Nick Mondo's girlfriend's mom's friend from the hair salon- I gots the hookups, yo), I have been able to uncover *exclusive insight* into why these two men have been matched up by the esteemed Pro Wrestling Guerrilla matchmaking squad. It's all because El Generico's good friend and translator Stevie McFly. You see... McFly like his famous um, surname-sake (MARTY!) is also the owner of a time machine! While on one of his jaunts across the continuum (trying to stop Futurama from getting cancelled by Fox) he discovered that Christopher Daniels' rental car in Japan was going to be blown up by the infamous Yakuza if he retained the IWGP junior tag team titles with American Dragon (he turned down their suggestion of changing his gimmick to "Sushi Man."). So he charged up his Flux Capacitor (on loan from Frankie Kazarian) and McFly convinced Simon Inoki (who in the future, is Emperor of Japan and a close friend of President Dusty Rhodes) to put the belts back on Jado and Gedo. Infuriated, and unwilling to believe a cockamamie "time machine" story, Daniels hopes to torture Generico sufficiently to provide information on his continent-wide manhunt for the man known only as Stevie McFly. Umm ok Jay… thanks for that drunken rant… now get me a Whiskey Sour! (Know what? I don’t drink myself but the idea of a WHISKEY SOUR has always been appealing to me. I’m assuming it’s a whiskey that is also sour. What a world… what’s next? Corn that is also a nut? What would they call it? Corn nuts? Ha ha. Lousy hippies.... damn am I sure I don't drink?) Past History: They of course met as a part of a 4-way dance at PWG's Ernest Memorial. And I want to say at least once in Canada in a either a tag match or pie eating contest.... PWG Records: Christopher Daniels is 8-7-1 overall and 7-4-1 as a single, El Generico is 3-4, 2-3 as a single Jay Doring's thoughts: There a certain magical moments in pro wrestling, and one of them is when you witness a grappler blossom, like the dainty lotus or the expanding chest of apre-pubescent girl, into a member of the elite. He just GETS IT, like Luke Skywalker figuring out the intricacies of the Force in Return of the Jedi. It happened with Paul London in 2002 and Chris Hero in 2003. 2004 belonged to El Generico. The ascension of Generico to such a lofty plane of in-ring skill astounds me to this day, as I have a hard time believing he's the same guy as the skinny yar...youngling (man, wasn't Revenge of the Sith great?) who had two of the worst matches I've ever seen at IWS Know Your Enemies 2003. Generico's rapid improvement first became apparent in the 2003 Canadian Match of the Year, a three-way with Kevin Steen and Pierre Carl Oulette, that those gosh darn Canucks still talk about reverently to this day. Then, he invaded CZW and stole the spotlight from new golden boy Sexxxy Eddy with a balls-out spectacular performance in the High Stakes IWS 4way. Better and better matches followed: the EWR 3way at Under-rated where he hung every step of the way with AJ Styles. The SoCal vs. Canada tag match at Cage of Death 6 that stole the show. Taking Super Dragon to the limit everywhere from California to Philadelphia to Germany to England (one of which I had the pleasure of witnessing front and center- Super Dragon/Stevie Douglas vs. Aviv Maayan/Generico at IPW-UK). As well as winning EWR’s “Elite Eight” tournament to officially claim the right as Canada's best cruiserweight. El Generico is one of the few wrestlers in North America who I can honestly say is not capable of having anything less than a great match right now. If he manages to snare the X-Division title from Christopher Daniels, it'll catapult him to cable TV and PPV glory, and cement him as one of the best talents on the continent. However, taking the title might prove impossible, considering whose waist it's around. Christopher Daniels, since winning the X-Division title, has been unbeatable anywhere in the world. He defended it successfully against Styles, the current PWG and NWA WORLD champion, in England. He beat Shocker, the biggest star in Mexico, at TNA Hard Justice. He defended it TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW at PWG All-Star Weekend, against Chris Hero and Alex Shelley, two guys who are as tough as they come. Daniels is one of wrestling's true "ice men", a grappler who truly believes he is the best in the world, with the track record to back it up. Daniels has the undeniable mental and experience edge on Generico, and that's why he'll retain on June 11th. As for the match's quality? Generico, as stated earlier, is on the hot streak of a lifetime, and Daniels, while it's the new kewl thing in the "look at me I'm SMART!" inhaler-reliant net geek world to bash him to death, is one of the most consistently great performers in the industry, and I have a feeling this contest will share Match of the Night honors with the main event. Prediction: Christopher Daniels retains his title. Now, just to test if anyone actually reads this far, It's time for another "WHO THE HELL WOULD KNOW THAT?" PWG trivia question! You ready? This month’s question: What was the only PWG match ever to be presented OUT OF ORDER (It’s LIVE order that is) on a PWG DVD? GRUDGE MATCH~! Excalibur and Kevin Steen vs. Super Dragon and Disco Machine Seeing double... Dragons: The 2nd Super Dragon saga Our story begins at PWG’s Uncanny X-Mas…. Super Dragon was basking in the glory of his first title defense. And just when he thought his night was over… he was attacked from out of nowhere… by… Super Dragon? This “Doppledragon” took SD by surprise and stuck him with his own Super Natural Driver… and left as suddenly as he appeared. The next month at “Card Subject To Change” was strangely Doppledragon free. And the threat seemed to have passed… Until PWG’s strangely clothed “All Nude Revue” where after Super Dragon scored one of the biggest victories of his life over Samoa Joe. Super Dragon 2nd was right there to rain on his parade as he took down the wounded Super Dragon with his own curb stomp (Trademark 2005 Simon Dean, All rights reserved) before Disco Machine rushed in to Dragon’s rescue. Just when or where would he materialize next? The next month the 2nd Super Dragon’s head games were taken to a whole other level (especially in hind sight) as Excalibur and what he thought was Super Dragon went to the ring to address his situation with Disco Machine (who had suspended him from the previous event) When the SD in the ring, revealed himself to be the imposter as he took out Excalibur! The real Super Dragon and Disco Machine raced to the aid of their fallen ally… as the 2nd Super Dragon made his escape back into the realm of myth, speculation and Star Wars fans. This fake Super Dragon had done something many had tried but few had ever accomplished… he had not also succeeded in terrorizing Super Dragon… but had actually gotten underneath his skin. Perhaps just the anticipation of an attack was enough to throw Super Dragon off his game, as he fell to a wicked spinning lariat from AJ Styles to lose the PWG title he held so dear at “All Star Weekend Night 2” With nothing more to left lose, Super Dragon wanted nothing else but revenge on this imposter. And at “Jason Takes PWG” he was set to finish this once and for all. The rumors were abounding…Just who was behind these attacks? And how? And where? Was it Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with the Revolver? Or did Miss Scarlet commit the crime in the Library with the Candlestick? We didn’t have long to find out… As at “Jason Takes PWG” after months of rumors, intrigue, speculation and other dramatic sounding terms this was finally coming to a head.... Super Dragon and his mouth piece Excalibur hit the ring. Excalibur went on to explain that Super Dragon had challenged this imposter to not just any match… but the ultimate PWG match… GUERRILLA WARFARE! And ordered who ever was behind these attacks to reveal themselves… right now… And just as Super Dragon was set to meet his tormentor… Excalibur leveled him from behind with a mighty chair shot… and then planted him with a Tiger Driver 98. Super Dragon’s own best friend, Excalibur had revealed himself as the master mind behind the 2nd Super Dragon! Then in classic Bond villain fashion, Excalibur explained his sinister scheme and how he was tired of being given short shrift in PWG, while Super Dragon’s ego had been turning PWG into “PWSD” And all of a sudden everything made sense… afterall who would know how to get beneath SD’s skin better then his own best friend? Then the match had begun with a bang, as Excalibur cracked a chair over the cranium of Super Dragon with sickening velocity… but that was only the beginning. As what followed was perhaps the most violent match in PWG to date, weaving a tapestry of violence, which as far as we know, is still obit in somewhere right now over Montego Bay, Jamaica. The now former friends were flat out murdering each other with a myriad of sickening chair and ladder strikes (Including an inhuman Curb Stomp with EX’s head inside the ladder!) but no one matter what the other tied… they couldn’t put the other away. Dragon in particular had emptied his arsenal on Excalibur, including the Psycho Driver… which amazingly Excalibur kicked out of! It’d take something special to end this war… so SD went with what worked for him in past guerrilla warfare’s… he placed EX’s head in a set up chair and came off the top… crushing EX’s skull with a double stomp… as Gorilla Monsoon would say “it was all over but the shouting” Just then the dreaded DOPPLEDRAGON enters the ring and takes out Super Dragon. And then removes his mask to reveal… (drum roll….) KEVIN STEEN! (what an asshole!) Suddenly… even more of the puzzle pieces began to fit! They were determined to destroy Super Dragon once and for all, as Excalibur and Steen propped up a table in the corner… and EX just obliterates Super Dragon with a Tiger Driver 98 though the table, which gets the pinfall. But before Steen and Excalibur could finish the job, DISCO MACHINE ran in and chased them away… But had the damage had already been done? Now on June 11th, at Guitarmageddon… this war rages on as Kevin Steen and Excalibur will meet Super Dragon and Disco Machine, only this time minus the sneak attacks and the element of surprise… and plus one seriously pissed off Super Dragon! Will Steen and Excalibur succeed in finally taking out Super Dragon for good? Or will the Dragon’s wrath prove a bitter pill to swallow? Past History: Excalibur/Disco Machine/Super Dragon have a long and storied past that I don't have enough time to cover here. Super Dragon and Kevin Steen have met 4 times: Super Dragon/Excalibur vs. Kevin Steen/El Generico - CZW Cage of Death 6 Super Dragon vs. Kevin Steen - PWG Ernest P. Worrell Memorial Super Dragon vs. Kevin Steen vs. El Generico - PWG All Star Weekend Night 1 Super Dragon vs. Kevin Steen vs. Mike Quackenbush vs. B-Boy - CZW Best of the Best 5 PWG Records: Kevin Steen is 3-5 overall, Excalibur is 9-12 overall, Disco Machine is 7-14 overall and Super Dragon is 24-8 overall My Thoughts: If there is one match I'm sad I won't be able to see... it's this one. As there is nothing like a pissed off Super Dragon! Whenever SD loses in PWG… he comes back like a mushroom-cloud-layin' motherfucker, more pissed off and determined than ever! He’s superfly T.N.T, he’s the GUNS OF THE NAVARONE… but he’s been unstoppable in his "pissed off" phase. And damn, he does he ever work well with Excalibur, who he routinely murders on a matchly basis (I swear he died at least 7 times in that unbelievable Guerrilla Warfare match) And Kevin Steen, who Dragon has already produced 4 memorable matches and 2 children with. They have never failed to deliever yet, if you like your action intense... you've come to the right place. Plus Excalibur and Disco Machine have a good in ring chemistry too. I remember watching their WPW Best of the West match live and “saying damn this some good shit!” Of course it ended right that very second… but it was real a fine piece of Pro-wrestling (even though it went like 5 seconds) Plus, what about Disco Machine? Is there a chance he could turn on Dragon join up with Kevin Steen and Excalibur? And what about Scarecrow's brain? So many questions, so little answers. In closing, I'll say... with all due respect to AJ Styles and James Gibson (who will also tear up in there no doubt) this is the match to watch on June 11th. {Insert HYPE cliche saying here} Prediction: Kevin Steen/Excalibur take it. PWG Championship AJ Styles © vs. James Gibson Last Time: James Gibson: At All Star Weekend Night 1, after surviving the effects of a 40 rotation airplane spin was able to small package American Dragon and score a major victory in his PWG debut. AJ Styles fresh off doing the impossible at PWG’s All Star Weekend (where he defeated the two "unbeatable" forces in PWG, Samoa Joe and Super Dragon) went title for title with long time rival Christopher Daniels at "Jason Takes PWG" With so much on the line, and neither man wanting to make a costly error… they engaged in a game of human chess or was it “Human Monopoly”? (I forget which) for the full 60 minute time limit. AJ Styles wanting to be a fighting champion, challenged Daniels to go 5 more minutes… But the cowardly/wise/tired/smart Christopher Daniels declined the offer, stating that the fans didn’t deserve 5 more minutes of Christopher Daniels (or 5 more minutes that annoying drunk “Gatorade” fan screaming “Let’s go AJ!”) Although the match was ruled a draw, AJ took home the moral victory and the admiration of the fans. So now on June 11th, as PWG' presents "Guitarmageddon!" AJ Styles in the grand tradition of PWG champions past, will have to face the only the very top competitors the scene has to offer, this time around he’ll have to face Former WWE Crusier-weight Champion James Gibson for the first time ever! If he hopes to walk into PWG’s Historic 2nd anniversary shows with the gold. Past History: To my knowledge they've only met one time in the past... which was in waning days of WCW. 2/14/01 edition of WCW Thunder to be exact, when AIR RAID (AJ Styles/Air Paris) took on Jamie Knoble (James Gibson) and Evan Karagias. PWG Records: AJ Styles is 4-2-1 overall (4-0-1 in one on one matches) James Gibson is 1-0 (with a victory over American Dragon) Jay Doring's Thoughts: Not to sound like a shill or anything (Editors Note: Because we all know these things are never shills, Wink Wink nudge nudge…) but PWG really is the super-duper number-one-and-the-BEST promotion ever sometimes. When Jamie Noble hit the independent scene following his release from WWE, the two "dream matches" all independent fans wanted was Noble vs. American Dragon, and Noble vs. AJ Styles. Well, PWG has not only given its fans the AmDrag match at All Star Weekend, but they are delivering the FIRST-EVER singles contest between the "Phenomenal One" and the "Redneck Messiah" for its SoCal loyalists. AJ Styles is considered the gold standard for independent wrestling, and with good reason - in addition to being a 3-time TNA X-Division champion and 3-time NWA World Champion, he's held the top titles in multiple high-level Indies (Wildside, IWA-MS and now PWG) as well as 2 of ROH's 3 major championships. Noble on the other hand, has the big-time experience, taking on the biggest stars on the planet in both WWE and WCW. The one time AJ WAS in the big-time, he was beaten by Noble in a tag match, which might give the man now known as James Gibson a psychologically advantage. Match-wise, the styles of these two men may be a perfect fit. AJ is known to the masses for his work in the X-Division, but he's proven that he's a top talent on the mat as well, evidenced by his PWG match with Rocky Romero and his ROH match with American Dragon, among others. AJ will be more than capable of hanging with Gibson's brutal submission work. There is one final angle to this match I don't think many have considered. James Gibson has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make it back to WWE as soon as possible. In addition to being PWG champion, AJ Styles is also the NWA World champion, the top titleholder of the closest rival promotion. It may accelerate his return to the big-time if he can deal AJ a humiliating defeat and steal one of his belts. I'm also sure if offered the right price, PWG would gladly fork over that match footage to Vince, for it to be looped over and over again before every Jamie Noble match. I really can't make a prediction here, so I'll just go on a coin flip...AJ My Prediction: AJ Styles retains and moves on to PWG's 2nd Anniversary with the gold. Plus! The hottest team in wrestling right now, ARROGANCE: Scott Lost (18-9) & Chris Bosh (13-10) defend the Tag Team Championship! And appearances from Human Tornado! The PWG return of "Mr. Intensity" Davey Richards! Top Gun Talwar! Hook Bomberry! And more!!!!!! Please visit http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com/news/ for official show details and fun! FINAL THOUGHTS: Wow what an excellent card... but if there is only one reason to attend this show.... it's that I won't be! I have the 4th worst luck on the planet (Behind only Charlie Brown, Kevin Costner and Ziggy) Consider this... the last time I missed PWG live was the first three matches at Free Admission (Just Kidding) and guess what? They turned up without sound on the DVD! Pretty shitty luck eh? So it wouldn't surprise me a bit if this turns out to be the greatest PWG live event of all time! Maybe Oprah will give everyone in attendance a new car just to taunt me! Or maybe PWG will deem this event "too awesome for human eyes" and not release it at all! So make sure to attend... won't you? Jay's final thoughts: Hey man, so what you miss one show. You live in SoCal, land of 40 Indy shows a week... where I live, “Magic Bean town" Ring of Honor runs in a urine-soaked hell hole once every 4 months and the other "touring" Indy thinks it's fun to put pedophilia jokes on their web show (don't get me started on local Indies- there's only so much Maverick Wild I can take!) I'd kill for PWG every month! (In fact I have... but hush that.) Newberry: First of all watch your mouth… why say “urine-soaked hell hole” when you could have just as easily said “pee-pee soaked heck hole” You’re a sick man, Danny. Jay: GAAAAWWWWDAMMIT, DON'T CALL ME DANNY! I'M THIS CLOSE TO RAPING YOU! Newberry: Yeah sure… you say that same thing to Jimmy Rave, I’ll bet. For the rest of you, who are not interested in raping Jimmy Rave, do remember to check out http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com/merch/ and pick up the latest releases from PWG! Including: All Nude Revue: One of PWG's strongest efforts to date, that features the rematch six months in making as Super Dragon collides with Samoa Joe! Arrogance attempts to hang on to the gold against The Aerial Express! Kevin Steen Vs. Christopher Daniels, A wild 8 man tag, The PWG debuts of Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong and much more! Ernest P. Worrell Memorial: Hey Vern! It's a 4-way dance of doom! as AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Kevin Steen and El Generico meet... with the winner moving on to a PWG title match with Super Dragon that night! Plus Frankie Kazarian and Joey Ryan look for revenge against ARROGANCE! The Debuting Chris Sabin vs. Ricky Reyes! Scorpio Sky and Human Tornado vs. LOS LUCHAS, The shocking return of Chuck Mercury and MUCHO MUCHO MAS! All Star Weekend - Night One: In what just may go down as the greatest night in PWG History saw Super Dragon defend the PWG title against Kevin Steen and El Generico! AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe in a battle for the #1 contender ship! American Dragon takes on the debuting James Gibson! Christopher Daniels meets Alex Shelley in a Tournament for Bruiser Brody, Plus Jonny Storm vs. Petey Williams! Arrogance/Joey Ryan vs. Frankie Kazarian/AXP! Chris Hero vs. Chris Sabin! The Havana Pitbulls, SBS, Top Gun Talwar, Davey Richards, PUMA, Some lazy Japanese guy and more~!!! All Star Weekend - Night TWO: Super Dragon faces the challenge of his life, against AJ Styles! Chris Hero meets Christopher Daniels for the first time ever! Kevin Steen vs. Jonny Storm! Frankie Kazarian’s PWG farewell…. And more! more! (did I mention more? BECAUSE THERE IS MORE!) Jason Takes PWG: It's Title vs. Title, as PWG Champion AJ Styles squares off with TNA X-Division champion, Christopher Daniels... who will walk out with the gold? Witness the shocking betrayal as Excalibur and Super Dragon take PWG violence to a whole other level as they engage in GUERRILLA WARFARE! Kevin Steen meets the debuting Sexxxy Eddy, Arrogance defend the PWG tag titles and the right to bare arms against Disco Machine and the returning Mr. Excitement!, You'll be brought to your knees... with hilarity as The Human Tornado takes on El Generico! It’s Cuba vs. Japan as Ricky Reyes meets the returning NOSAWA! A 3-way tag team dance, At long last the mystery of 2nd SUPER DRAGON is revealed and mor... actually that's it I think. It’s the hottest new trend around! It’s called “giving PWG money so they can keep producing these amazing shows and keeping suckas in line” so do it! Well, we've come to the end. Thank you for reading! I mean that! You… the guy in the “Makin’ Bacon” shirt reading this and saying “This jerk has too much time on his hands” THANK YOU! Also Thanks to Jay Doring for helping me out, and to IndyInsider.com for letting this be posted on their main page. See you next time for the PWG- 2 Legit 2 Quit (or whatever they decide to call their anniversary double shot next month, I personally like that name) preview. Please leave any feedback, comments, answers to the trivia question, new cars, childish insults directed at the cast of “The Sandlot 2”, discussion of Eddie Murphy's perennial classic "Party All the Time" or other general pleasantries right here! or e-mail it to [email protected] (remove Xs) Until next time is this Paul Newberry saying “Damn I wish I was going to this show” -
What's the deal on that "commentary" on the ladder match? Terrible... (good match though)

Why all the fuss over her?

Here's all that's happened with the Fake Super Dragon: After Super Dragon's match with Jonny Storm at "UnCanny X-mas" a 2nd Super Dragon (wearing SD's red outfit) came out and gave the real SD The Super Natural Driver. A few months later at "All Nude Revue" after Super Dragon defeated Samoa Joe via count out, the real SD was attacked and given the curb stomp by The 2nd Super Dragon.... The next month at "Ernest P. Worrell Memorial" The 2nd Super Dragon attacked Excalibur (who thought he was the real SD) during a promo. Then the real Super Dragon and Disco Machine chased off the 2nd Super Dragon. That's been it so far.... very interesting angle, could go anywhere. -
According to CZW's site, Excalibur was now added. Leaving only 4 spots left.

Same here. Great way to win new fans for sure.

Man, I was really unimpressed with Dragon Solider in PWG on Friday. He had the worst match of the whole PWG weekend. I can't imagine how lame seeing him win an entire tourney would be! Especially with all the talent involved in that one. -
