I disagree. Cindy Sheehan is arguing that her son died for nothing. She has used her unfortunate situation as not just a platform to attack the President, but also to attack Israel. If you cannot trust somebody's motives, can you give full credence to their arguments? Ah I see. I don’t agree with you, so I’m “polluting the thread.” Look at her statements. She claims that the fact that some of her family doesn’t support her is offset by the fact that her husband does. Her husband refuses to comment publicly, and files for divorce. I’m sure this could all be a huge coincidence…but at best it once again brings the validity of her statements into question. If you look at Cindy Sheehan you can at least see a pattern of questionable truth behind her crusade. "The right wing" has one unified spokesperson now? I never heard anything like that said by anybody prior to you reporting it. Whoever "these rotten bastards" are, they need to get better coverage. If that was said, I can assure you that the entire "right wing" doesn't think that...and it also smacks of some of the dreaded irrelevance that Y2KJerk is so horrified by.

I'm not going to continue to debate the issue of her motives...I feel that she has an agenda which involves Israel...and that negates some of her sincerity in my opinion. I am not denying her right to protest, nor am I complaining that she is doing it. I am questioning some of the things she has gone on record saying. I am pointing out the fact that her son volunteered for his second hitch, and even for the mission where he was killed. This woman is not being forthright about that fact. If that fact were wider known, it would give the public a much better picture of the entire protest. You obviously disagree, although I feel your argument is lacking logic and is instead rife with hyperbole, and profane insults. These do not support your position; they only serve to obfuscate whatever point you do have. If you really want people to consider your opinions, you might want to consider toning down the rhetoric and concentrate on facts instead to support your argument. How is anybody in any position to decide how history will see GWB? In his time, Ronald Reagan was almost as hated...and now he is being voted as a Great American and being given the credit for helping to end the Cold War. Furthermore, your claim that Bush does not support the troops is without merit. The president went to Iraq himself during the first Thanksgiving of the war, which was an incredibly dangerous move for a President to make during wartime.

Her son voluntarily reenlisted after his hitch was up, and volunteered for the mission where he was killed. This woman has gone on record making anti-semetic statements...although she is now trying to claim she has not. This woman claims that all she really cares about is her husband and her other kids...the same husband who just filed for divorce. What happened to this young man, and all soldiers who willingly put their lives on the line for their country is tragic. However, as much as some people claim there is a right wing agenda for the USA being in Iraq, there is just as much an anti-Isreal agenda behind this woman. Either this woman is willingly allowing herself to be manipulated by the radical left, or she is unaware of it. Either way...that further compounds the tragedy. Making the statement that there is no way that she is going to be made to look bad is incorrect. Many of her statements during this process are making her look bad. The fact that she lost her son is tragic, but it does not mean that she is now immune from being used by others with a larger agenda, or of having one herself. I don't see that she is in this for "gain" per se. I am sure she is motivated by her grief...but the fact remains that in the media, she is trying to blame President Bush and Isreal for her son's death, and ignoring the fact that he was living the life that he chose for himself.

Point well taken. I do not read the Sports Folder here, therefore I have no idea what kind of posts you make there. So lets say that the majority of your posts not made in the sports folder have been shots at Dames. And this is clearly where we disagree. From what I know of him, he is a nice. From where I sit, he owned the place, therefore it was his to do what he chose. If I owned a site, I imagine I'd use it to promote my writing too. I always found it rude that people posted here all the time, yet felt the need to take shots at the guy...ignoring the fact that if it were not for his generosity, this place wouldn't have been here at all. When I wrote for TSM, I was told that Dames was paying over $100 a month to keep this place going. Perhaps I was misinformed...but if I wasn't...that's just plain old nuts. If he was paying that much, then cut the man some slack I say. If not, then don't I just look like quite fucking asshole for defending him. Firstly...you couldn't be MORE WRONG. Yeah see, here's the thing. "Bruiser Chong" wrote that absurd quote bemoaning the lack of appreciation for his amazing knowledge...not CJ. I just copied it word for word, because I found it ironic that while complaining about the lack of intelligent discourse in the world...old Bruiser never misses a chance to take a shot at Dames. Like, if one was so inclined, (and I'm not) I'd lay odds that if you looked at all the posts Mr. Chong has made around here over the past however long, an inordinate amount of them would be taking shots at TSM, or Dames. Now I for one am no huge fan of this site, and my relationship with Dames is nothing. I have never spoken with him in person, and haven't chatted with him online in years. However, I find it somewhat odd that somebody goes to this much trouble to take shots at the guy. Maybe Dames raped his dog or something...I don't know. So when I see somebody constantly taking shots at a guy, and this same person once wrote the inspid, self congratulatory post above about how "intelligence is taboo" then I feel the need to rise to the defense of said Dames. In my humble opinion, people who say things like that are in no position to take shots at anybody...but that's just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. The bottom line is this...Dames paid to keep this place alive after SK bailed. Now he's handing it over to somebody else. Using the thread where he announces that to take another in a long line of shots at him, or to pimp your own board is LAME...quite lame.

Why yes it is. You know why you don't understand that? Because it's over your head. That kind of knowledge is lost on people like us. Knowledge has become such a taboo thing that it's actually something people make efforts to hide for fear of being labeled as a nerd, dork, or something as cliche. Take porn, for instance. Most guys have no issues about watching it or knowing who the big players are. But recognize a lesser-known starlet and actually let people know this, and you could be in for a bit of harrassment? "How the fuck do you know that?" The wonderous things you can learn when you're paying attention and don't have one of your hands on your penis...because you can learn SO MUCH from porn. Why would we want to hear about the guy who owns and pays for this site getting a job, or learning to drive, when we COULD be discussing who directed "Ass Blasters II?" You see, brilliant people like Bruiser specialize in knowing entirely too much in several areas of the pop culture world. Sure, few of them will ever do much to find him a job that pays extraordinarily well, but he continues to bulk up all of them for the sheer satisfaction and enjoyment that doing so brings. But this is such a rare practice that going to the various messageboards is the only method in which you'll find more than a couple people who are like this. It's just a shame that such practices must be done online in most cases, because they just aren't universally accepted many other places. If only more people were like Bruiser, and less like Dames...the world would be a much better place.

A few questions... 1) Wouldn't Tom's comment "Classy" be just as much "offhand" as your own? Why does his comment mean that he had sand in his vagina, and is a "fucking pussy" for saying anything but yours is okay? 2) Where in Tom's comment does it imply that Dames' ego was hurt by your comment? 3) Dames helped spearhead (and finance) the movement to keep this community alive after SK and company left it. If SK's time at The Smarkboard was one era, wouldn't Dames' time be an era too? And if he's selling it to Mike, won't that be a new era? 4) Doesn't your reaction to Tom's one word comment fly in the face of your "it's just a messageboard" argument? 5) Dames owned TSM and this board, and paid HUGE amounts of money to keep it running, even when he wasn't around to use it himself. This is a fact. That strikes me as a decidedly selfless and generous act. Everybody posted at TSM for free...like, LOTS of people. As the owner, and the man who was paying for something that he himself rarely had time to use...doesn't he at least have the right to do pretty much whatever he wanted here at the times he did have time to come by? 6) What's the deal with MiB, Bruiser, and HungryJack hating on Dames? Is this because CJ got banned here way back, or do you just not like the guy? Why should he take a long walk off a short pier?

Doesn't your signature at NMB have some witty dig at Dames in it? Of course...maybe you didn't make the quote about Dames. Maybe somebody else did, and you just went to all the trouble to copy and paste it into your sig at another board. If so, then you have my sincere, heartfelt apologies. If somebody else said it, not you, and you quote it in your sig...then it doesn't make you a whiner about Dames at all. If somebody else said it, then it's a perfectly normal thing to do. Really.

Come on now. I mean, if Bruiser had taken a shot at Dames, and then was so impressed with himself and so proud of that witty little comment that he went to all the trouble of quoting HIMSELF in his own signature, at another message board...now THAT would be whining. Oh wait... Never mind.

Nah, it's just that we JUST paid the damn licensing fee for THAT board. If we have to get ANOTHER board, we might have to pay again. Josh doesn't seem to think we will (and always I defer to his know how when it comes to stuff like this) but if we did, it would be like flushing almost $100 down the crapper. Secondly, I know that there were a ton of ongoing discussions and debate going on at The Pit, which are all gone now. That's just annoying. The admins at The Pit let FM keep his admin powers, and for that he thanks them by deleting the board. If he was so terribly upset about comments made about him, he could have just erased the offending threads...I doubt any of the threads in the Literature folder offended him...he probably can't read at higher than a Grade 3 level...but no, he had to erase the whole thing. It's a clear case of Twattery in The First Degree, which calls for a mandatory sentence of a Dick Punch. Hell, I don't even like that Leena all that much, but I wouldn't delete an entire board over her. That just goes to show what happens when the only women you ever have contact with are online, or inflatable and kept in a box under your bed. You go quackers.

Man, when I used to own WDI, and I got pissed off at them, I kicked them off my server. I gave them 10 days notice, and they moved to a whole new address with their board intact. That's how you do something like this...if you have to...which you shouldn't...especially since The Pit was NOT YOURS. That board was on somebody else's server, paid for by somebody else's money. You had no right to do that, but small wonder. Aren't you the same knob gobbler who thought that Doc had it in for you, and moaned about it for months?
