Worst excuse for a heel turn

Shirt turns are my favourite kind of turns! Mark Henry ripping off his crappy homemade "ROCKY SUCKS" shirt to reveal a Nation shirt? Classic. Why did Henry join the Nation, anyway? On that topic, I don't remember why Ahmed joined the nation... the Raw that's on 24/7 now hints at him going heel, agreeing with Faarooq about no black people being world champ yet, but he goes on how about how Faarooq is a big racist and he hates him. I believe with Ahmed he ended going with one of those "If you can't beat them, join them" turns like Macho Man into the nWo.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

Reverse that and it would be correct. Hogan was never as big of a draw as Austin...or even Rock for that matter. Like it or not, Austin and Rock are on top of the wrestling mountain. Look what Austin did to the industry...he changed the whole role of the face, was the WWE's top star during their most sucessful period, and sold way more merchandise...probably only rivaled by Cena in terms of sales. I agree that Rock and Austin most likely drew more money than Hogan, but I would by far call Hogan the biggest name, with the Rock in 2nd. If you ask someone to name a pro wrestler, Hulk Hogan will be the first name that comes out. Rock has a ton of mainstream popularity too. As popular as Austin was back in the day, I don't think he was as known by the general public as Hogan or Rock. Heck, some of the non-wrestling people that do know who he can only come up with the name Cold Stone.

    Baseball cards

I had gotten back into collecting basketball cards again in recent years but have not really picked any up in a while. In the past year, I picked up one box of this year's Topps just to snag some of the rookies and happened to get a 1:3,000 packs Adam Morrison autograph in the box.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

So I popped Armageddon 07 in before I went to bed last night. The only thing in the EXTRAS menu was Mr. McMahon announces greatest RAW Superstar of All-time from the 15th Anniversary of RAW. The one notable thing from this DVD was one of the main menu options. Aside from PLAY, EXTRAS, PLAY SPANISH, there is one more tab. It is DVD SURVEY. It says if you pop the DVD into a DVD-rom drive with internet access you can participate in a survey which in turn enters you to win the WWE 2008 DVD collection. Not sure if the collection is just the PPVs or what, but that is interesting enough.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

I've seen Norbit and while it is nowhere near a comedy classic, it wasn't as terrible as I expected it to be. I did not want to see it at all and after watching it, there were a couple funny things in it. I haven't seen Roxbury in a long time, but still quote the dialogue about Emilio Estevez and the "ass grabbing" thing is pretty classic too. As far as worst Sandler movies, his absolute worst in my opinion was that Going Overboard movie where Billy Zane played Poseidon, but that was before he was on SNL, so I don't know if that counts in this discussion. For other contendors for worst movie how about Taxi with Jimmy Fallon? Although I only saw it once I really disliked Master of Disguise with Dana Carvey. As a Boston Celtics fan, I've always had a love-hate relationship with Celtic Pride with Dan Ackroyd. I'm sure I could think of a few more, but if you dislike this one, just wait for Rob Schneider's next project, Big Stan:

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

The Blockbuster bonus discs don't exist anymore. I guess they weren't popular enough or something. Blockbuster never got Cyber Sunday. They did get Survivor Series, however it is the same edition you get everywhere else. The only benefit is if you hold out and are lucky enough to grab a copy of the Pre-Viewed sale to save a couple bucks, as they did get a few more copies of that than they were getting of the bonus disc events. They will not be receiving Armageddon, which comes out this Tuesday, January 15. It is not even in their in store computer system. Speaking of Armageddon 2007, I went to Wal-Mart tonight to try to pick up the RAW XV set and they did not have it, but my store happened to break street date on Armageddon, so I snagged that tonight 5 nights before it officially hits the stores. Not a huge deal, but I was happy enough to buy something before it is supposed to be released. I will post the special features when I get a chance to look at the disc.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Just posted this in the WWE CWDWAT, but figure it should go here too. I just was on Rajah.com and they are reporting according to Gerweck.net that "Wildcat" Chris Harris has jumped from TNA to WWE.

It's scheduled for a Quarter 4 2008 release. Yeah, my two biggest games right now are that one and Ghostbusters, both for 4th quarter 08. Here is the teaser trailer they put out for Lego Batman: .

    Box Office Report...

Wild Hogs was one that I swore I would not see, but ended up catching it on when some friends were watching it on DVD and I was surprised. John C. McGinley was gold in it. I know it did pretty good word of mouth and a lot of people were interested in the combination of the actors helped its box office. One other thing that I had heard at the time, which wouldn't have bumped it huge, but give it a little bump, was that kids were buying tickets to that and then sneaking into 300, as they were in the box office around the same time.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

And that incident was inducted into WrestleCrap. And this doesn't directly have to do to TNA but has WrestleCrap gotten less funny or was it not that funny to begin with and I only liked it because I was a 14 year old new smark? I ask myself this question often. It's funny, I've thought that myself recently. I used to think it was the greatest thing ever, now I occasionally skim it. Glad to know I am not the only one. Also, in regards to Screech, they show tiny clips of his appearance on the TNA Year One DVD (which I don't know if anyone else said it here, but was kind of a disappointment).

Comments that which don't warrant a thread

The sad thing is as bad as it was, it was probably still a slight step up from that horrible, horrible Date Movie.

WWE General Discussion - December 2007

Joey Styles new blog on wwe.com praises JBL in-ring ability, but rips his commentating. Obviously this is kayfabe, but I'm just curious as to why they have the ECW commentator taking shots at a soon to be RAW main event level wrestler.

My bad. Guess I should check the trailer. I didn't really see too much on this besides the main cast, so I didn't know if it was a surprise cameo. I know it was like a two minute part of the movie, but not knowing it was advertised I didn't want to spoil it for anyone cause I was genuinely surprised to see him.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Saw the trailer for the first time this morning when I went to Walk Hard. I can't wait. I had high hopes and it still looked better than I thought.

Yeah, that animated opening thing had me a little worried too, but you are right, once it hit the drug store, it picked up and never turned back IMO. I marked out big time when showed up too because I had no idea he was in it.

Just saw this tonight and I genuinely liked it. I went in with high hopes and ended up more pleased with the end result than I expected. It had so many great one-liners that had me laughing throughout. Great, great writing. I hope this nabs a few awards as I know it is nominated for a couple. I was surprised at how packed it was. It is only showing in the artshouse theater that is 40 minutes away from where I live, but in an area where I have to go for work and other stuff. I caught the 10:15 showing tonight (Thursday) with some friends and it was pretty crowded. Anyone else catch this yet?

Well, D-Backs made another trade also. They traded Jose Valverde, their 40 plus Save closer to the Astros for infielder Chris Burke and reliever Chad Qualls. Doesn't seem like a good trade there.

    Impact spoilers (airs December 13th)

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with Petey and that either. Both weeks I've seen him in this gimmick he has thrown in an Arnold impression, which I hope isn't a central point of the gimmick.

    Impact spoilers (airs December 13th)

Not to sound like one of these people but I was watching my DVR recording of this Impact and I felt like Kaz's backstage promo set him back a little in my eyes. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like Kaz, I want to see him pushed, but he seemed pretty uncomfortable and then did a Chuck Norris drop, which I thought would lead to a joke... but it didn't. He was talking about honestly being inspired by Chuck Norris. After all that, Christian walks in and outclasses him, only for Kaz to run away when Christian closes his eyes. That wasn't even like a babyface prank... it just seemed out of place and cowardly. I dunno... maybe it's just me...
