Yeah, I was bored and looked at the current Power 25 and it had Booker on it still just mentioning he still made the list despie not being in action. I don't know if it really means anything, but I'd think they would not put him on if he was leaving.

Weekend Boxoffice report 9/7 - 9/9
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Jodie Foster's gangsta! Yeah, I've been pretty indifferent to the previews for that movie, but the other day there was one that showed Jodie Foster getting weapons together while DMX's "X Gonna Give It To You" was playing in the background... I laughed. -
The thing that I always am amused with is Booth is from a personal experience too. For the past few years, I've been hitting up the Summer League in Vegas to watch all the young guys. The first couple years, no one was there, but as it has gotten more and more publicity, it has gotten bigger every year. The first year you could just walk up to Dwight Howard like he was in a high school gym, this year it is a little harder to even see anybody, but people are still wandering around. I mean, I'll be sitting watching a game and have a coach, or someone I used to watch play come sit near me. Like, two years ago Mario Elie just came next to me, and Avery Johnson sat a few seats over once. Well, sometimes current players come to check things out. I've seen Calvin Booth there watching the Wizards the past two years. This year, he came in and sat in the same area I usually saw him sit in. But this year there was a huge like YMCA kids group. None of them knew who he was, but due to his size, they knew he was players. Flocks of children came and wouldn't leave him alone, getting him to autograph whatever he could. Now, I am a huge basketball fan, and admittedly, I have some bizarre autographs, including Booth, but just all these children were treating him like Michael Jordan and they didn't even know what team he was on or who he was!

We Have Us An Iron Man
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to LivingLegendGaryColeman's topic in Television & Film
Oh, I agree. I don't know what white actor would've been a better being the Kingpin. I think Michael Clarke Duncan worked for that role. I just thought it was funny, as if these people were complaining because they are comic fans, as a comic fan in passing, I've heard that about Ultimate Fury being based on Sam. The IMDB boards are a place I like to go when I need to feel better about myself. -
I liked this trade for Denver too, but according to Denver papers they are apparently waiving Bobby Jones today. Sixers replaced their center by signing Calvin Booth. I think Booth is solid as a backup still, but if Dalembert is out, I don't know how he is going to do as a starter.

We Have Us An Iron Man
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to LivingLegendGaryColeman's topic in Television & Film
Feh, I can't believe they're even arguing over that one too. Nick Fury was black in Marvel's Ultimate universe... IIRC, Fury's Ultimate Version was modeled AFTER Samuel L. Jackson anyway. I'm pretty sure they intended him to be like Samuel L. when they re-invented him for the Ultimate universe. I actually think all recent portrayls of Fury have been black too, like even in the video games and everything lately. -
I just got in from the movie. Not the best movie ever, but I enjoyed it for a brief, mindless flick. It was in the Let's Go to Prison vein where it had potential to do better, but was better than LGtP. I marked pretty big for . Not great, but not terrible. I was surprised because I went to a later afternoon show (5:45) and the theater had about 20 people, a little more than I expected for this movie at that time of day. The only downside was probably about 11 of 20 walked out. It wasn't offensive, I guess they just didn't like it. But like 7 of the 11 were together, so it was more like 3 groups left...

Comments that which don't warrant a thread

Picked up Starbucks Best of SNL 06/07 DVD. Fun little DVD. It is just the special from TV re-hashed, which I personally would've put in some sketches, taken some out, but I enjoy the DVD. It also has some cast commentaries and deleted skits from dress rehearsal among other things, which makes it a fun pickup. -
That's how I felt. I didn't loathe the movie. It just wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. I picked up it one week when it went on sale for $6.99 Brand New after only being out a couple months. I'll watch it again, it just had more potential. The first trailer for Brothers Solomon had my hopes down for the movie. I brought a friend to go see Hot Rod (second time I saw it) and there were new trailers, including one for Brothers Solomon that had me laughing hard. I will see it either Friday or Saturday, schedule and show times permitting.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to Taker666's topic in Television & Film
Last I knew, this was based off the musical, but it wasn't going to be a musical. The other note I enjoy is that Sacha Baron Cohen will be in it. -
You should try the one at the Wynn. There is like a room for every food category. How much does it cost? People in my family were playing there and we got the meals comped, but I just checked online price place and it breaks down like this: Breakfast $15 Lunch $20 Dinner $27 Weekend Champagne Brunch $30 A bit expensive, but it was seriously the best buffet I ever went to.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
WWE.com's Summerslam's Greatest Moments list has Number 7 as Orton's title win in 2004. Click here to read the article that does not mention who he beat. -
Aside from loving Arnett and Forte, the movie poster sold this for me. The first trailer I saw for the movie deflated me a little, but the newer one that has been on TV about filling up the sperm donor cups is making me feel a little better. I will still be there to see this early one, I like Bob, just hope it isn't a Let's Go to Prison 2, as I had such high hopes in that one with Arnett and Dax.

Who would you prefer winning at SSlam?
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to TheFranchise's topic in The WWE Folder
I am not a Cena hater by any means, but I do agree with this statement. Look at Cena and his history of feuds since jumping to RAW with the title. Most of them are the same. Comes to RAW, Jericho and Christian bicker over who gets to fight him. They fight him on PPV and lose. Jericho announced sole number one contender, loses. Leaves RAW. Shortly after attacked by Kurt Angle, announced as new number one contender. Fights for a few PPVs. Elimination Chamber, everyone tossed in. Cena overcomes odds, Edge sneaks in with number one contender contract on a beat down man, wins belt, only to lose a few weeks later. Triple H wins tournament, loses to Cena, rematch with HHH and Edge, Cena wins. RVD shows up with Number One Contender contract, Edge runs interference. Cena randomly fights Sabu while Edge chases title, Edge screws Cena, takes belt, sneaks away at Summerslam, only to lose in his own specialty match at Unforgiven. Gets involved with Champion of Champions story, but is more concerned about K-Fed. Thrown into random Classic Survivor Series match. Tossed into Smackdown main event for Armageddon in attempt to boost buy rate as company starts doubting split brand shows, still more focused about K-Fed. Starts fighting undefeated monster Umaga. Attacked by Umaga because both are unstoppable. Beats him twice. Starts feud with HBK because HBK almost won Royal Rumble, re-lives December and thrown on Smackdown PPV. Partners that don't like each other storyline created to go into Wrestlemania, wins. Fights his un-trusted partner and the guys who put his partner's real partner out of commission. Beats them all. Khali comes around, see Umaga. Draft makes new matchups, every person that has had a world title loses to him. Lashley was stripped of title, angry. Announced number one contendor, attacks Cena, loses. Orton has been putting people out, attacks Cena, now number one contendor, loses. I don't think I necessarily illustrated what I wanted to say, but what I was going for is there hasn't really been an exciting angle for the title since Cena has had it. Many of the contenders just come across as randomly showing up to try to get it and failing. The closest to a story against his opponent was with Edge and that was after he randomly showed up. The most intriguing angle was probably Champion of Champions, but Cena's booking made him seem to be more concerned with Federline than the other champions. Rather than it being someone we want to see a match up with, it comes across as "Oh, you beat Wrestler A, so what will you do against... Wrestler B!" I don't have a problem with Cena, but I feel there haven't been too many of his matches which I have been made to care about, and if I have, it is mainly because of the opponent (i.e. Edge and RVD breaking into the main event scene). -
My main comics fall out had been the slow death of the comic book store. When I was younger, I remember tons of comic book stores and sports cards stores. I moved to a place where I couldn't find any and that is when I slowly fell out of the loop. When comic movies started getting big again, I would start thinking "I wonder if I should pick up more comics?" I go in spurts. I was reading 52 weekly for the first like 20 issues, but then got busy and fell out of the loop. I am usually a DC Mark, but like the Ultimate Marvel books too. Usually after falling out of the loop, I'll pick up some Batman, Robin, Detective, Ultimate Spidey and then whatever looks cool (in this case, Booster Gold and last kick I was on, I was getting the Ion mini). I actually just signed up for a Batman subscription for $18 total, and with this rebate program I signed up for, I get 25% cash back, so once the check comes, it's like I get a year of Batman for $13.50. Pretty sweet. There are a few other decent titles too and out of all the choices, there is 25% if done through a certain link. Anyone who wants the info on this, give me a PM and I'll shoot you the details.

I picked up Booster Gold #1 recently because I used to love the Booster/Blue Beetle tandem. I really liked it. Very solid read and high reccommendation. I picked it up because I went to get the first issue in the "League of Heroes" Batman arc. I think the new one is out now, so I will have to go pick that up too.

That was my feeling in saying I would hope they would include them, but it's one of those things, Christian is with the other guys. Granted, they aren't as bad with people who have jumped to TNA as they were with those who jumped to WCW, but still, IMO, they cannot have that set without E & C.
-
I'd DEFINITELY buy that one. I can imagine it being like "The World's Greatest Managers" - It could highlight the following (Just throwing them off the top of my head): The Rock and Roll Express The Midnight Express The Road Warriors (Probably not since they already have a DVD) The Fabulous Freebirds (Depends on how much they are on the World Class DVD) Demolition The Rockers The Hart Foundation The Wild Samoans Harlem Heat The Dudleys The Andersons/Minnesota Wrecking Crew The Steiner Brothers The Hardys Doom The Horsemen (Tully and Arn) Who am I leaving out? What old school teams? Would a team like Steamboat and Youngblood make it? The Brisco Brothers? Seems like the majority of the necessary teams to include if they were to do this. I think they would definately include the Brisco Bros. I would like to think if they were putting Hardys/Dudleys they would include Edge/Christian as well if they had no hard feelings putting in the Dudleys, they probably would throw in the New Age Outlaws. On top of that, from that era I'm pretty sure they would include APA as well. Other teams I would like included would be Strike Force and Rotunda/Windham. I also assume the Hollywood Blondes would get put in. I'm just trying to think who they would include from different decades, such as early 90s, would the Disasters and Money Inc make it? i would think the Nasty Boys would get tossed in too. I think if they were to do something like this, they would have to do it by decade as there are so many good choices and quite a few teams that have a good amount of yes/no arguments.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
I know it seems obvious that it can't be Joe or Cage because of their match at No Surrender, but we know how TNA loves the pointless swerve. I think they may even go with Joe or Cage for that point alone. Team Pacman will most likely win the tag belts to get the press. So, if Pacman can't fight, it will be better for Killings to beat two guys who have been fighting matches all night than for a fresh guy to do the job. With Pacman involved, I have a feeling it may be last match of the night. If they don't want to do clean job, Joe can cost Angle or Christian or Christian can cost Joe. It seems more likely than Styles or Sting, although Styles is most likely of the four to get pinned clean. -

No one in their right mind would start Gary Payton over Luke Ridnour. At this stage in his career, Payton is not a starting PG. I completely forgot Ridnour but there is Delonte West too, who could start at point or two, or if not, would be a great sixth man.
