I just got back from Hot Rod. I pointed that out to my buddy too. First Hader was wearing some random Stone Cold shirt and then Andy was in a Hulkamania shirt. It's sad that I notice wrestling products in movies (Cheaper by the Dozen had one of those Hurricane teddy bears and Grandma's Boy had tons of wrestling stuff, including Nick Swardson's head photo shopped onto Cena's body on his computer). Hot Rod was a lot more bizarre than I was expecting. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't expecting the complete randomness. With all the people talking about it, I am saddened no one has mentioned the best character in the movie yet. Richardson was the best in the movie.

Celtics add Scot Pollard for the veteran's minimum. They will continue to look at Sarunas Jasikevicius also.

Yeah, I saw the Jones thing for the Mavs the other day and I saw they are trying to split the mid-level for Webber and Posey. It seems like Dallas has been active, but the only guy I can remember leaving is Croshere just signing with Golden State. I know Mavs already signed Brandon Bass (which I think the rumor was if they signed him, Pops Mensah-Bonsu was a goner) and retained J.J. Barea, it seems like they have a ton of people under contract, only to keep signing.

That's my problem with him too. I was pretty much indifferent to him for the most part. Although it was annoying, the HOO-RAH could be catchy at moments, decent for a heel. Then they decided to have, to me, the three hottest women in the company fight over him, therefore I am genuinely bothered by him now...

WWE General Discussion for August 2007
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
So is Kristal not well liked in the locker room then too? Because before Lashley she was supposedly involved with Matt Striker, who was not well liked for other reasons. Just seems odd to not really hear anything on her, but stuff on the people she is involved with. -
I still contest part of the problems the Pistons didn't live up to their potential due to Flip not using Maxiell enough. Maxiell played well whenever he got a chance and got taken out. Johnson and Maxiell are great young talents, but if Flip doesn't use them, it won't do a thing. I wouldn't drop them that low even if those two aren't used, but that is an issue.

I went to the Smackdown tapings tonight. I didn't take notes, but I figured I would throw up some quick notes of what I remember, as there were two Summerslam matches announced and two title matches on the show. Dark Match: The Unknown Wrestler defeats Chavo Chavo came out and then they introduced this guy: Weight: Unkown, From Parts Unknown, the Unknown Wrestler. It seemed kind of goofy, he had on some like cyborg mask, was a muscular white guy and when he took off the mask had, I guess a Boogeyman type look.\ Show begins showing the main event will be Deuce and Domino vs. Flair and Batista Teddy Long and Kristal came out and announced that they will get married on the Sept. 21 Smackdown. Khali interrupts. The translator asks how Long feels to be interrupted like Khali was last week. Long announces Khali will defend against Batista at Summerslam. Kane defeats Chris Masters with a chokeslam A couple Deuce and Domino preparation skits aired. I don't remember the order but the first one was the one that is dating Cherry saying he can't find her. The second one has him looking for her when someone tells her she was in the room that turns out to be Batista's dressing room. She walks out and he scolds her. As they leave, Batista walks up confused and Flair walks out of the dressing room where Cherry had been missing in. Matt Hardy beats MVP in an arm wrestling match. MVP finds several different ways to stall, Hardy wins. MVP says Hardy beat him when he wasn't prepared, but he couldn't beat him in a real match, which leads to: Matt Hardy beats MVP via countout Hardy gets close to winning, MVP slides out of ring. Funaki and Shannon Moore are shown laughing at Jamie Knoble. Short segment where they make tons of short references. Hornswoggle is hiding in a nearby trashcan. Jamie Knoble defeats Shannon Moore Knoble beat Moore in a fun little match. After the match Hornswoggle sneaks in the ring, Knoble chases Hornswoggle around, Hornswoggle hits Knoble in the face with a pie then douses him with the fire extinguisher and celebrates up the ramp with his title as Noble looks on. Rey Mysterio returns at Summerslam promo. Chavo walks in on Vickie and Kristal looking at Wedding Magazines. Chavo jokes about Rey having one leg, making him say I Quit. Vickie says Chavo should be ashamed and books Rey vs. Chavo for Summerslam. Jimmy Wang Yang with Torrie defeats Kenny Dykstra with Victoria Bastista and Flair defeat Deuce and Domino by DQ, I think, it was never clear. As Batista was about to hit the Batista Bomb, Khali's music hits and D&D double team Batista as Khali watches. After D&D hit their finisher on Batista, Khali hits the ring. He beats up Flair and leaves the ring as Batista slides back in. Show ended there. Off the air, Batista kept calling out Khali. They had a short match where Khali was going to leave with a countout, but Flair came back and hit him with a chair. Between all of that and ECW from tonight, it was a pretty fun show. I think I got everything, although it may not be in the right order. I just figured I would throw up some notes until a good report came out, as I know I like hearing the spoilers as early as possible myself.

Yahoo Sports and RotoWire is reporting the non-Jefferson deal as the likely scenario also. That deal would be crazy, as I think they would have a starting lineup of Rondo-Ray Allen-Pierce-Garnett-Jefferson. That would be pretty crazy. They would definetely be one of the top in the East no question. I think they just need a stronger coach cause I have high hopes for Powe, Big Baby, a healthy Tony Allen and Perkins on the bench. Scalabrine can be decent in doses (when he doesn't try to think he is the leader).
-
I don't think they wanted to just release Allan Ray, but he got a contract in Italy worth over double what the Celtics would pay him. Another key bench player should be Leon Powe too. He can add some depth to the team. I am warming on the idea some (my teams are Suns and Celtics), I'd hate to see Gomes go, but the deal where they would still keep Jefferson is kind of interesting.

Has there been any rumor of timeframe when the roster should be announced? Not only the legends this year, I am curious for the actual roster.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

**WAITS FOR TASTELESS BENOIT JOKE** I was red-hot on the game, got in the high 200s without missing anything and then almost got eliminated because of "Sleepwalker Suplex". I thought I knew most of my stuff, but I have never heard of a Sleepwalker Suplex before... I ended up surviving it and the next answers were "Airplane Spin Toss" and "Super Belly to Belly Suplex", which, alright, these I can believe, then I almost get thrown out again in the mid 400s with "Skytwister Press". -
We have seen how ECW has been with Vince's hands all over it......nuff said...... I'm not sure if I agree with that. WCW while slightly more wrestling based at times, was essentially closer to WWE in its peak popularity. ECW was a whole different creature. If Vince launched WCW, it'd be weird, it wouldn't be the same, but it wouldn't seem as bastardized as ECW. ECW is hated for being nowhere close to its namesake. It is hated on for being more like WWE, taking away the atmosphere and style of ECW. That wouldn't be an issue with a Vince-run WCW. WCW in regards to style and atmosphere was relatively similar to WWE.

Armstrong became a No Limit Soldier because they were making him a clone of his brother the Road Dogg. Their thinking was seeing Road Dogg was super over in WWE, why not try the same thing with his brother? It must be the same.

Highest I got was in the 400s, but I got screwed a couple times. I got something like "Back roll" along with "Hip roll" and also, there was "PIPER HITS SNUKA WITH COCONUT" and I submitted it early, told me I was wrong, guessed two more letters, tried Solve again and got it that time. Telling me I was wrong when I was right happened to me at least three times. -

WWE released a few DVDs starting in 99, yet WCW never released any, as even their VHS tapes were much harder to find than WWE: 1999 Wrestlemania XV Summerslam 99 2000 Royal Rumble 2000 Wrestlemania 2000 King of the Ring 2000 Summerslam 2000 Survivor Series 2000 2001 Royal Rumble Wrestlemania - the rest of the PPVs Basically they just did the big two in 1999 when DVDs were starting to get big, did the big five in 2000, along with starting to produce some of their other features and in 2001 they did the Rumble, skipped No Way Out and every single PPV since has been on DVD.

I know not a lot of people are interested in it, but I think that Travis Diener signing with the Pacers could end up being one of the big surprises. Diener had a lot of potential but was stuck at the end of the bench for Orlando. Indiana has been looking for a PG and Diener could turn some heads. Derek Fisher is officially a Laker again. Other little moves include Jake Voskuhl to the Bucks, Oberto re-signs with Spurs and Carroll re-signs with Bobcats.

I forgot to mention, there was one Benoit mention in the Vengeance DVD. They edited out most. Of course all the Don't Try this at Home and intro videos had him taken out. All references to him in the ECW match were removed, although there was one audible "We Want Benoit" chant from the crowd. They mention Nitro is a substitute, but don't say for what. I didn't see the PPV live, but during one point in the US Title match, they are naming men who used the US Title as a stepping stone to the World title and in the middle of them, there is some dead air, I am assuming Benoit was pulled. At the end of the US Title match though, they do say how MVP has had a great month, beating great champions in both Flair and Chris Benoit.

I just saw Eagle vs. Shark the other night at the local indie theater. I loved it and seeing as I've mostly heard Flight of the Conchords and only seen them once, I totally didn't realize he was the star!

WWE Vengeance 2007 comes out on DVD on this coming Tuesday July 24th. The regular DVD extras are mini-studio interviews with some of the former champions that were present for the Night of Champions (only one I looked at was one with Dean Malenko, where he talks briefly about being Cruiserweight champ and the match with Eddie when leaving ECW put him on the map). Blockbuster once again has an exclusive bonus disc. The two bonus matches are Cena/Lashley vs. Booker/Orton and Cade/Murdoch vs. Hardyz (I am assuming this one is the title change leading up to the PPV).

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to dubq's topic in TNA Wrestling
I know Tomko asked for release to go work in Japan. I am pretty sure Morgan was one of the mass firings, right after they made him stutter and paired him with Carlito. -
I think if anything this movie will make bank on curiousity alone. I say it goes over $100 million easy. It's at the end of the summer, where Bourne will still be new, but not much else. I wasn't dying for another Rush Hour after so long, but it's not a sequel as unnecessary as say like Barbershop 2. It's an action franchise, it'll have a couple fun moments worth the price of the ticket.

I have only been reading reports and not watching recently, but didn't Dusty accept Orton's challenge so Orton didn't fight Cody? And now Cody is fighting before Dusty anyway?
