Desert Island Draft, Comics Edition
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to Cran Da Maniac's topic in Literature
Forgot that my pick should have been coming up... Whoops. -
Oh yeah. Burton talked the studio out of Robin for the first Batman, but when they kept pushing for him, he was making Robin a street-wise young African-American mechanic. His costume was like a mechanic's jumpsuit with an R on it. Wayans actually got paid for both Returns (which they cut due to time) and Forever. I like reading all about the casting decisions too. Like how Bale was in the running for Robin and the final two came down to Chris O'Donnell and Leonardo DiCaprio. They asked kids at like a Comic Con type event who would win in a fight and that is what had them settle on O'Donnell.

The lack of Dent in Returns is due to the ongoing conflict of Burton doing these movies from what I've read. Burton doesn't see the point in keeping certain traditions. Apparently no one realized Dent would turn into Two-Face (except for Billy Dee) in the making of the first movie. I've read a few times that Shreck was originally supposed to be Dent, leading to a transformation to Two-Face, but as the studio started learning about their characters, the plan was changed to create Shreck.

I'm a sucker and I figured this will go fast giving current events: -
Keyon Dooling officially got sent to the Nets which in turn saw the Nets send Marcus Williams to Golden State for a future first rounder.

I met Rainn Wilson right around the start of the Office. It was like the 3rd week it was on the air back in 2005. He was really cool and funny then. Only thing I notice nowadays on like TV interviews is he gets all wacky and over-the-top, when he was really down to earth before. I don't know if it is just him publicly playing up the fact he plays all crazy roles these days but he seemed like a cool guy.

If you are taking suggestions, I'd say New Orleans. Fun young team, not a lot of fans in the general public and not too likely to get broken up anytime soon. Although, they could be seen as part of reason the Sonics were taken away (giving OKC the feeling they are owed a team), so that may not help their cause for you either.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

Yes! I would have no problem with my mission failing if the problem was because Bateman had to return some videos. I enjoyed the first two Lego Star Wars, never tried TCS, is it both games comibined or is it something new? I never quite found out. I have Lego Indy, but haven't gotten to it yet. I am most excited about Lego Bats though. Not only because it is my favorite subject choice of the three, but I think there will be an insane amount of characters to play as that I will enjoy. -
Ok, so I finally just saw a Clone Wars trailer. It was on Nickelodeon this morning when I had Spongebob on while getting ready. So it seems like this one may be getting COMPLETELY targeted at kids, seeing that is the only time I've seen anything outside a poster at the theaters.

Madden, NFL Head Coach, and NCAA Football 2009
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to Matt Young's topic in Video Games
Got this on Tuesday, just got around to putting it in tonight. I hadn't been looking at it too much, but I was excited to find the mascot game again. Always been a guilty pleasure of mine, although seeing the opponent do complete flips in the air to evade a tackle is something new. Can't complain about getting a couple achievement points for just trying my favorite feature either. -
Thanks for the list Jingus. If Step Brothers doesn't take #1 this weekend, I wouldn't expect competition until Pineapple Express, just because it is about time for a comedy (that people want to see) to come out. Wasn't the last #1 comedy Get Smart? Mummy will do good business between fans of the franchise and Jet Li fans I think, however I still don't think it will be big enough. This week, I think Dark Knight is still going to carry over those who haven't gotten to see it yet and the casuals will probably gravitate more toward that than X-Files, IMO. Didn't realize Clone Wars and Tropic Thunder are going head to head. What are the projections for Clone Wars? I think it will have the fan boy base, but I don't know how many casual viewers it is going to grab. Although that may just be because I have only seen the poster, have not seen a trailer yet.

Has anyone else seen the new story on Josh Childress? I was just reading sports stuff on Yahoo and came across an article that is saying that Childress is a possibility to jump from the NBA to go play in Europe next season. Olympiakos is offering him a 3 year, $20 million deal that would also be tax free. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Amen...o&type=lgns

Just got in and I have nothing new to add obviously. I thought it was tremendous as well. I am interested in the box office numbers though. I wasn't sure if I was going to hit this as I have work in a couple hours, but got tickets this afternoon anyway. I went to a newer theater in town where I have never seen a crowd before because I guess no one realized it was there. Been there all sorts of times and no crowd. Tonight, TDK was on five screens, all with completely full audiences. If that is any indication, I hope this movie well deservingly gets the record-breaking business it deserves.

I am really hyped for this but a little skeptical with the "changing the look" thing. Did anyone ever see Andre with the body of a Greek god as a child?
-
Hooray for Tenacious D. Although their songs in this and GHIII have both been from the movie.

If it is a three disc set, I'm thinking it has to have all of them. I don't know about this set, as there is no Hell in a Cell that is something that I have to have or extremely rare. I mean, I have all of them on tape or DVD already except Jericho/HHH from Judgment Day 02 because the rarity of that DVD. I guess it would be good to get HHH/Cactus on DVD and I've always had a soft spot for the Armaggedon 6-man, but I'd probably wait for this set to go on sale cheap.

Sounds like some interesting features. I am just eagerly anticipating the release of the rosters. I usually try to use people I have never been able to use before and I think this year there will be a bunch of debuts. Also, IIRC (and it's probably a few pages back in this thread), isn't this year's edition supposed to have the biggest roster yet?

I came in here to see if anyone posted the Najera. Last I read he was saying either return to Denver or going to Phoenix or San Antonio. I don't know why New Jersey, as he could help elsewhere, unless the Nets wants to give him a larger role than those other teams. I had heard Hayes was going to New Jersey and I can only assume for an increased role as well. I hadn't seen Boston getting O'Bryant yet. Clifford Ray supposedly was very big in helping Al Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins get adjusted and NBA ready, so who knows what he can do with O'Bryant's "potential" (I know that is why Warriors took him in the lottery, but seeing him in the Summer League a few times, I understand his lack of any PT opportunities in the season), although he won't likely get any important minutes anyway.

I'm a huge Dick Grayson fan, but the original Nightwing costume with the big goofy collar makes me laugh. Also, I think the combination of costume and looks requires Blue Devil to be part of this thread:

That's really awesome. I look forward to if you post some kind of recap on it.

I'm not sure how knowledgeable I will be in this one, but what the heck? I will give it a try. -
News You Can (barely) Use
LivingLegendGaryColeman replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't remember seeing it before, so sorry if this is rehashed but in a radio interview this week Booker T. revealed that the shampoo commercial feud with Edge was supposed to be a Hair vs. Hair match, however Booker did not want to cut his hair. Mystery of a lame feud starter somewhat revealed. -
I gotta go back and see how my picks compared to the real results, see how I felt compared to everyone else. I really liked doing this draft, and much thanks to Exslade for the great work and awesome banner making for the champion. I am pretty proud for getting 12th place because it is forward motion from where I picked. Even with the draft overkill all over the board, I wish I could think of another kind of draft to do in this folder, as I think this one was really fun and went really, really well.

I'm not sure who it was, but I am pretty sure that Dutt has a guests track on some indie hip hop album. If it was this Iron Sheik, maybe that is the connection and it is just a friend thing.

Yeah, he did the Brother Bear movie along with the straight to DVD sequel. Including those he's been in 5 projects since the last "Honey, I..." movie in 1997. The 2 Brother Bears, Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys, an Animated Version of the McKenzie Brothers and a Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids kids show episode. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001548/
