Okay so I have two teams have someone fill in for the rest of the year in Penn State and Maryland. Now I have four things to consider when selecting a replacement: 1. Similar ranking 2. Is of course not on that team's schedule for the rest of the year 3. Not in the same conference 4. Someone who has not submitted late picks. So for Penn State I've picked UTBroward and for Maryland I've picked Lando Griffin. I'll use their picks for those two teams for the rest of the year. Those two teams are effectively on "probation" and can not play in a conference championship or bowl game. As for Jimbo since he said he was going to continue in the contest I'll give him another week. If no shows again this week I'm replacing him. By using replacment picks twice he's ineligible to win the contest. This is a three deadline week and note the earlier time for the Thursday deadline. Deadline #1: Thursday, September 28th, 6:00 PM EST/3:00 PM PST -Lose out on Thursday's game Deadline #2: Friday, September 29th, 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PST -Lose out on Friday's game Deadline #3: Saturday, September 30th, Noon EST/9:00 AM PST -Replacement picks, can't win by tiebreak Week 5 Match-ups #2 Temple (Ortonsault, 3-1) vs. #3 Oregon State (Princess Leena, 4-0) - GAME OF THE WEEK #7 Stanford* (Bored, 2-2) vs. #9 UCLA* PM (phoenixrising, 4-0) #1 Hawaii* (Will Scarlet, 4-0) vs. UTEP* (Angel Grace Blue, 1-3) #4 Miami* (Spaceman Spiff, 3-1) vs. Tennessee* (Sex Machine Gun, 2-2) #5 Syracuse* PM (CanadianChris, 4-0) vs. Florida State* PM (Kingofthe909, 0-4) #6 South Carolina* (Cuban Linx, 3-1) vs. Auburn* PM (Agent of Oblivion, 1-3) #8 Virginia* (Edwin MacPhisto, 3-1) vs. Ohio State (Gert T, 0-4) #10 Rutgers* (the pinjockey, 2-2) vs. Penn State* (UTBroward*, 1-3) Kentucky* (Danville Wrestling, 2-2) vs. USC* (Cartman, 2-2) Arizona State* PM (Spicy McHaggis, 3-1) vs. Oregon* (nogoodnick, 4-0) Georgia Tech* PM (iggymcfly, 3-1) vs. Miami of Ohio* PM (Hawk 34, 0-4) Texas A&M* (Secret Agent, 2-2) vs. Florida International* (Vitamin X, 1-3) Connecticut* (SilverPhoenix, 2-2) vs. Notre Dame* (Lando Griffin, 2-2) Michigan (Jimbo?, 3-1) vs. Minnesota* (Vern Gagne, 2-2) Florida* PM (Urban Warfare, 2-2) vs. Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff, 0-4) Buffalo (Carnival, 1-3) vs. Oklahoma* (Vampiro69, 2-2) Texas* (UTBroward, 2-2) vs. LSU* PM (teke184, 2-2) Maryland* (Lando Griffin*, 3-1) vs. Boise State* (bravesfan, 0-4) Kansas State (Loaded Glove?, 2-2) vs. Kent State* (JHawk, 1-3) San Diego State* PM (The Last Samurai, 2-2) vs. San Jose State* PM (kkktookmybabyaway, 0-4) Week 5 Games to Make Picks For THURSDAY BYU at TCU FRIDAY Rutgers at South Florida SATURDAY Navy at Connecticut Akron at Kent State Boise State at Utah Oregon at Arizona State Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech Texas Tech at Texas A&M San Diego State at San Jose State Central Michigan at Kentucky Troy at UAB Kansas State at Baylor Ohio State at Iowa Washington at Arizona Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Oregon/Arizona State game? Yes I know I switched the rankings in the sub topic. I'll try to get someone to fix it.
-
Hey if their weren't flaws in the system then it wouldn't be the BCS.
-
Jesus tap dancing Christ. All the Tigers had to do was win one games againt the Royals so I wouldn't have to see the A's die in the Horrordome. Unfuckingbelievable. I'm still going to buy ALCS tickets tommorrw but I ain't going to hold my breath on using them.

This was an odd week as we had a wide spread in correct picks from 4 to 12. Annnd this caused more CONTROVERSY~ in the BCS. Soooo...I didn't even want to post these. But because of the inevitable whining...um I mean questions, I'm going to give you a breakdown of the Top 3. Leena's ranks W/L: 1st Correct %: 4th SoS: 28th (1 x .45) + (4 x .45) + (28 x .1) = 5.05 Spiff's ranks W/L: 8th Correct %: 2nd SoS: 4th (8 x .45) + (2 x .45) + (4 x .1) = 4.90 Will's ranks W/L: 5th Correct %: 1st SoS: 22nd (5 x .45) + (1 x .45) + (22 x 1) = 4.90 So that is how a 3-2 team is tied for first. Win/Loss record is the first tiebreak for rankings so Will retains te #1 spot. Spiff has had bad luck with his opponents while Leena has had good luck with her opponents. That's the way it goes and right now #1 and #2 have been the best pickers so far so there really shouldn't be too much complaining even though there will be. Eight more weeks for things to change so again...don't stress about it too much. Now on to the full poll. Bored's Championship Series Rankings thru Week 5 1. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 4.9 2. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 4.9 3. Oregon State - Princess Leena 5.05 4. Syracuse - CanadianChris 6.25 5. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 6.7 6. Temple - Ortonsault 8.25 7. Oh also I didn't post the full article because it's very long but the other three names that were leaked was Brain Roberts, Jay Gibbons, and David Segui. Segui has already admitted he used HGH at one point.
-
It should be noted PED can mean a lot of things including "greenies" which everyone and their mother was taking in baseball the last several decades before this year. Now they just all drink Red Bulls in the dugout. Although at least according the article Grimsley specifically said Tejada used steroids.
-
Well part of me wants USC to lose a game even though I'm a fan of sorts. The idea of the Big Ten champion playing the Pac-10 champion in a game that isn't the Rose Bowl makes me want to vomit. Of course I'm really rooting for Ohio State to lose a game.
-
How would the media have down played it? Anyways it doesn't matter, USC wins. Yay. Nebraska wakes up and scores quickly, now up 32-25. In the Bay Area they are letting us know with this game going long that we can tune to FSN+ for the Stanford game. I'm not really jumping to change the channel.
-
I think Georgia would have a tough time scoring against Arizona State.
-
No Dwayne Jarrett...of course Steve Smith has kind of made that moot with 11 catches for 186 yards. Nebraska has blown a 17 point lead against Kansas, 25-24 Jayhawks pending the two point conversion.
-
Okay I finally flipped on Iowa/OSU and yes Brent is completely out of it. He confused Young and Sims three times while calling that touchdown. I haven't checked it out yet but Wazzu isn't half bad this year. I'm not surprised they've kept it close.
-
Kentucky came close to blowing a 21 point lead to Central Michigan. CMU scored a touchdwon to make it 38-36 but couldn't make the 2 point conversion. Wildcats answered back, now up 45-36.
-
Missed field goal by Miami keeps it a one point game against Houston.
-
Ugh, there isn't four players I wanna keep on my team. But since I have to... Carl Crawford Rich Harden (ow, my elbow) Nick Johnson (ow, my leg) Brett Myers (ow, my wife's face)
-
I didn't notice this until last week but the NFL Network has an eight hour college football highlights block on Saturday's now. Guess they got to fill time somehow. Syracuse tied 20-20 with Wyoming in the 4th.
-
Time to give up on Jimbo. I'll use Cartman's picks as replacements and I'll assign a permanent replacement for next week.
-
You're all of course assuming it will be the Twins playing the Yankees in the ALDS which has yet to be decided. Tigers really blew an opportunity tonight to almost wrap up the division.
