Edit: Yes I know it's Cal at Tennessee...I'll have it fixed. We're less than a week away from the season kicking off and one week from the first Saturday so might as well get this started now...and since a Notre Dame/Georgia Tech discussion has alread started up in my pick 'em thread. I think the game of the week is the Cal/Tennessee game and I'm hoping that Cal gets humiliated. Jeff Tedford is probably the best thing that has ever happened to their painfully mediocre program but under him they still haven't had a truly high profile non-conference win. Maybe the Insight Bowl against Virginia Tech in 2002 would count but low profile bowl games don't really bring much attention to a program. This is the type of game that can vault a program to the next level. Even with Tennessee coming off an incredibly dissapointing year they are still viewed as a strong program and I think they might be a little underrated coming into the season. But fuck doing it for the conference, any other Pac-10 team I'd be rooting for them. I want Cal to crash and burn and be written off early in the season. Go Vols. Fuck those Bears up. Besides I'll need something to be happy about after Stanford gets crushed in Eugene. About an hour ago the left click on my mouse stopped working. What was weird was I was here on the forum and got a page not found message without clicking anything and this was when left click stopped working. Is it possibly a virus or is it just broken? I checked the control panel and it says the device is working fine.

Turns out it was broken as I was able to grab one from work and it worked fine on my computer.

The formula is as follows: 45% of the ranking is your win/loss record, 45% of the ranking is your correct pick %, and 10% is your correct pick % against (aka strength of schedule). Obviously everything is bunched right now as with win/loss record your either ranked 1st or 21st in that category at the moment. Now since things are bunched up that means some people come out with same ranking so I do give the higher ranking to the person who had the higher preseason ranking. A few weeks ago I saw an entry on Deadspin about ABC Sports being dead but I completely glossed over it and little did I know what this would wrought. ESPN has taken over ABC Sports. Every sporting event on ABC will now have the ESPN logo on it which as unveiled yesterday on the first Saturday of college football. This is really fucking stupid. Why would a network want to present themself as a basic cable station? ESPN may be universally recognized as the leader in sports but it's still cable. As bad as Fox's presentation is you at least know when your watching a Fox Sports presenation. You know when you're watching NBC Sports and you know when you're watching CBS Sports. Call me old fashion but a network sporting event has a bigger feel to it then anything on ESPN. You know when I first saw the "ESPN on ABC" crap for the regional timeslot today my only thought as to why they decided to do this was to make the new Saturday primetime timeslot to have an extra special feel to it and have it stand alone from the regional games.
