I've been convinced for a while that Jeanie Zelasko has to be involved with a major FOX exec to have her job. She knows nothing about baseball, has no personality, and is not particularly attractive. There is simply no logical reason for her to have that job.

After some quick research, the first 11 Heisman winners never played in the NFL although there was a time when college football was deemed as being more important the pro football. The first ever to play in the NFL was the 1946 winner, Glenn Davis a running back from Army. After serving in Korea he played two years with the Rams.

A's are officially starting to cool off as they drop two out of three against the punchless and ice cold Twins at home. First place was nice for one day but here come the Yankees breathing down their necks again for the Wild Card. Why can't it ever be easy?

If you look in the right corner of that picture you can see a sketch of the Coliseum and arena so it's pretty much across the street. And I agree with Czech I'd love for the new stadium to have the large foul territory as it would give it a unique feature from the other new ballparks but looks like they'll keep with the current trend of having the fans closer to the field. Of course all of this is just a plan and no deal has been struck as of yet but this is the most progress there has been on a new park to date.

A's are down 7-0 in the 2nd inning. I know they were bound to have a game where EVERYTHING went wrong but what a game to have it happen.

Alright sign ups are closed. No 36th team signed up so Crimson Playtpus will be left off but will have the first opportunity to take over any team that goes on "probation." Speaking of "probation" I've changed the rules regarding forfeits this year. When a team doesn't submit their picks for the week I won't automatically give their opponent a win like I did last year. This season if a team has not submitted their picks by Saturday morning I will use the picks of team ranked in the spot below them in the BCS rankings for their picks that week. For example if the #15 team does not submit their picks I'll use the #16 team's picks. I will only use the Saturday picks and not the Thursday/Friday picks. If the that same team does not submit picks the next week and gets put on "probation" I will use the same team's picks (#16 team) that I used the previous week for the rest of the season for that team (#15 team) unless they are taken over by a new poster. Reason why I changed it up this year is because it scewed the standings too much with those teams who got zero's for their picks those weeks. Also this will allow a similar strength opponent to make up for that team's picks for the whole year instead of a case like last year where Vern Gagne, who won the contest, took over Boise State. Teams that do go on "probation" will not be eligible for postseason play, unless they are taken over by a new poster. I hope that made sense. I'll start working on the schedule and hopefully have it up in the next couple of days.

Ugh the homeplate ump steals the game from the A's in the 9th. Jacque Jones was called out on a 3-2 pitch with one out. It was borderline and Jones complained. Next batter Justin Morneu takes a 3-2 pitch almost RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE and the ump calls it a ball. Horseshit. Next batter, Lew Ford double, winning run scores. There was even a little controversy with the play at the plate but it was tough to tell from any angle if Jason Kendall did tag Monreu before he reach the plate. What a weak way to end a winning streak.

Until Texas actually beats Oklahoma I'll never be sold on them. Even if they do win they'll screw it up some how like losing to Missouri and A&M or lay an egg in the Big XII title game. Ohio State has a million starters back so I'm betting on experience here. I get an 90's FSU vibe about this team, a bunch of thugs and criminals who just constantly win. They also have a very favorable conference schedule, outside of traveling to Ann Arbor. I think they'll go into Michigan undefeated with a shot at playing for the national title. Right now I'm picking them to play USC in the Rose Bowl but that might just be the Rose Bowl purist in me hoping for the Pac-10/Big Ten match-up.

If Maryland wins the ACC I'll let Ralph Friedgen sit on my head after he ate a trough full of beans.

Just love watching all the ESPN "experts" harping on teams not trading prospects. Also Harold Reynolds relating a story being traded by the Padres (who knew?) and reveling in a 3 for 5 Spring Training game against them was just truly sad.
