The Rangers put jumper cables on their bats, literally, before that inning so guess it worked. A's starters need to work on their no-hit, one out in the 8th pitching.
-
Now thru seven, Dan Johnson makes a sliding grab in foul territory and Mark Kotsay a nice running catch to keep it going.
-
So after Rich Harden's near perfect game last night, Barry Zito has a no-hitter thru six tonight.
-
And it's times like these I wonder why there isn't a seperate thread for Yankees-Red Sox crap.
-
Harden settles for a two-hitter, throws just 81 pitches.
-
I don't really believe in jinxes but ESPN just gives me another reason to hate them.
-
Harden perfect thru seven. Just got through Dellucci-Young-Teixeira.
-
Ya this is automatic jinx but since MLB Extra Innings is having a free preview some of you may want to tune to the A's-Rangers game as Rich Harden has a perfect game thru the 6th.

I like that idea. After sign ups are done I'll give the option to the seven bowl winners from last year if they want to change the bowl name. For the title game I'll still want it to be the Bored Bowl but I'll give the option of picking the sponsor for the game.

http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=oak I'm personally glad Byrnes is gone as his cult-like following among some A's fans just made it impossible to root for the guy. But the trade iteslf, ehhhhh not too sure about. Kennedy was great last year but has been of the worst starters in baseball this year and that's even with Coors effect. A's aren't exactly hurting for starting pitching right now either. I mean this in all seriousness, Billy Beane will get legit death threats for this trade. Byrnes fans are scary.

Please let's leave this thread for sign ups and questions/comments related to the contest. If all holdovers sign up I'll be able to expand the contest to 34 teams. If I get 36 teams I'll add an eigth bowl game. Currently 28 people signed up.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=2107220 Jay Payton for Chad Bradford deal is official. Still unsure if Payton won't just be flipped in another deal as the A's two similar outfielders in Kielty and Byrnes already on the team.

Apparantly Jeanie Zelaskowhatever has been knocked up by Rupert Murdoch, otherwise how would she still have a job? Struggling Braves team? What the hell is she talking about? The best feel good story they could come up with is David Eckstein being a midget.

Take a drink: Everytime Joe Buck says "most of you may have never seen *insert player's name* play before" Everytime any Fox crew memeber says "This One Counts" Take 10 drinks: Every Scooter segment. Take 20 drinks: Everytime Tim McCarver mentions Derek Jeter.

D'oh picture don't work anymore.

Ummm...time to steer this thread back in the right direction. Currently 26 people signed up with six holdovers left out there. I think I'll give them another week and then start sending PM's to see if they are in or not. Again still welcome new sign ups with still one open spot in the Big MAC and the possibility of more.
-
I don't think this really warranted it's own thread but the replacement for the AP poll in the BCS formula has been announced.
-
Drew Olsen was medically cleared to start practicing this past week so looks like he'll be ready for the opener.
-
Bret Boone has been traded to the Twins for a PTBNL.
-
Yeah right.
-
LaRussa has a lot of balls if he did pick Carpenter as the starter over Clemens and Willis.

Scott Rolen has pulled out of the game and Morgan Ensberg has taken his spot.

A's win easily one of the worst played baseball games I've ever seen but a win is a win and they go into the break with a winning record. Finish the year 7-2 against the White Sox.
