    The Sugar Bowl Thread

Doesn't appear to be much interest in this game but it's the only game tonight so might as well create a thread for it. Telecast starts at 8:00/5:00 PM at ABC.

    Hall of Fame Discussion Thread

If I had a vote I would have made a bias vote for Tony Phillips. He was vastly underrated as a player. Sandberg getting in makes 2006 that much more intersting as I figured Ryno would come up just short this year and be the only automatic next year. Unfortunently it appears Bruce Sutter will be the one to get in next year. It's amazing these idiot baseball writers continue to vote for Sutter more than Gossage. I'm on the fence on any pitcher who spent their entire career as a reliever being inducted into the Hall of Fame but if your going to pick one of them Gossage is a no brainer over Sutter. Problem is baseball writers are too interested in bright, shiny things and I guarentee you most of the writers who vote Sutter and not Gossage do it soley because Sutter won a Cy Young and Gossage didn't.

    And So it Begins

It's the Times that's saying Lowe could get up to $10 million/year, which I think they are laughably over stating Lowe's potential market value, and not what the Dodgers have actually offered. Again there's no way DePodesta would make such a move, unless I skipped the chapter in Moneyball where it's okay to give terrible pitchers $10 million/year as long as they were "clutch" in the postseason.

    And So it Begins

There's no way in hell Paul DePodesta would do such a move. None. Sure it wasn't a $10 million deal and not $10 million/year? They need to seriously re-evaluate the draft compensation system if Derek Lowe is deemed more valuable than those two.

The Stupidest Team Ever would be my guess. Must be the Diamondbacks. It'd be even more delicious if it's the Mariners.

With the NFL Regular Season Over

Yes that thought had occured to me too, although I'd actually agree in theory with not wanting to pay big money to a rookie quarterback. "We have a trade...the San Francisco 49ers have traded the first overall selection in the NFL draft to *insert team* for a 7th round pick in 2012."

With the NFL Regular Season Over

The 49ers should and probably will trade the #1 pick. They have waaaaay too many holes to draft a quarterback and watch him get killed behind their pathetic offensive line. They need to heavily stockpile picks as even in the parity stricken NFL they are no where close to being a playoff team. Problem is with the current regime I have no confidence in them actually drafting anyone good.

    And So it Begins

Assuming the Randy Johnson trade goes through the Diamondbacks have agreed on a deal with the Dodgers for Shawn Green, according to the L.A. Times. They'll likely then give him a contract extension to further cripple their franchise.

Another thing that has to play into their decision is Lance Berkman is a free agent after 2005.

The Daily Bowl Discussion Thread: January 1st

The bowl season is not the end all, be all on how good a conference was for the year. That's the only thing I'm going to say on this subject because I seriously don't give a fuck about which conference is better than the other. Everyone please ignore Dama and Dama ignore everyone else. The college football threads are going to get as bad a rep as the Raw threads got on this site if this shit keeps up.

Bored's College Football Pick 'Em - Bowl Season

It's all over! Vern Gagne's Minnesota Golden Gophers come from behind and pull off the upset to win the MILF.com Bored Bowl and become the Bored's College Football Pick 'Em Contest Champions. Many questioned Vern's high ranking early in the season but he ends the year on a seven game win streak and the title. Tough break for Edwin MacPhisto who was so dominant in the regular season. Congratulations to Vern and I will PM you later about your prize.

  22. Today's Schedule Music City Bowl: Alabama vs. Minnesota, Noon/9:00 AM, ESPN Sun Bowl: #19 Arizona State vs. Purdue, 2:00 PM/11:00 AM, CBS Liberty Bowl: #9 Boise State vs. #10 Louisville, 3:30/12:30 PM, ESPN Peach Bowl: #14 Miami vs. #23 Florida, 7:30/4:30 PM, ESPN Do we really need a game between 6-5 teams this late in the bowl season? Sun Bowl could have been a 49-48 classic but no Andrew Walter means the Sun Devils probably get their ass kicked. Liberty Bowl obviously will be big on the points but I think Louisville wins by at least three touchdowns. If Miami loses expect people to start speculating about Larry Coker's job security. Hey that's the way it goes in college football now.

    The Official Rose Bowl Thread

Technically speaking it's not their hometown, but that's splitting hairs. Anyways what's your solution? Move the Rose Bowl? As by evidence of UCLA's record in the Rose Bowl (their homefield) it doesn't really seem to matter. Oh and to add to what Kotz just said, North Carolina also played basically a glorified home game in the Continental Tire Bowl and they also lost. TCU purposely turned down a Liberty Bowl invite last year to play in the Ft. Worth Bowl on their homefield and lost.
