    And So it Begins

Well that was before the first day of free agency when the Giants signed Omar Vizquel to a 3-year, $12.25 million deal thus ensuring everyone was going to be overpaid this offseason.

    And So it Begins

That just tells you the Angels overpaid Cabrera by at least $3.5 million a year as he's worth $1 million more a year at the most over Eckstein.

  5. Wow this turned into a surprising blow out after the super competitive first half. When will we get our first close bowl game? First double header day tommorrow but probably two of the least interesting bowl match-ups. Marshall Thundering Herd (6-5, Tied for 2nd in MAC East) Last Bowl Apperance: 2002 GMAC Bowl (Def. Maybe they won't have that Bonds guy in left. Still wouldn't rule out him retiring after the BALCO fall out. Anyways Alou will give new meaning to "splash hits." "That's not water kids!"

    A's Firesale Continues

Sacramento isn't considered an option and the Giants hold territorial rights to San Jose so the A's can't move there. They will end up in Vegas or Portland. And no I've never completely put my finger on why Selig hates the idea of the A's in Oakland beyond that he knows the city can't afford to build them a new stadium.
  9. The GMAC Bowl is where defenses go to die. It had the 64-61 Marshall/East Carolina game a couple of years again and right now it's 28-28 still in the 2nd quarter.

    A's Firesale Continues

Since this thread was bumped, about the rumor the A's are about to be sold, Lewis Wolff was Bud Selig's fraternity buddy in college. The A's are screwed either way with Schott or without him. Selig wants the A's out of Oakland so looks like he'll get his buddy to do the job.
  11. Guess you could argue their currently is with the Hawaii Bowl seeing how Hawaii goes to it every year. Here's all the defunct bowl games, many of these were played pre-1950: Alamo Bowl (the original in 1947) Aloha Bowl (now the Hawaii Bowl All-American Bowl Aviation Bowl Bicardi Bowl (in Cuba) Blockbuster Bowl (one of the many incarnations of the current Tangerine Bowl) Blue Bonnet Bowl (lasted 28 years) Bluegrass Bowl California Bowl Carquest Bowl (another Tangerine Bowl connection) Cherry Bowl Cigar Bowl Citrus Bowl (Capital One Bowl now but of course many still call it the Citrus) Copper Bowl (now the Insight Bowl) Delta Bowl Dixie Bowl Dixie Classic Forth Worth Classic (no relation to the current Forth Worth Bowl) Freedom Bowl GalleryFurniture.com Bowl (now the Houston Bowl, thank god) Garden State Bowl Gotham Bowl Grantland Rice Bowl Great Lakes Bowl Hall of Fame Bowl (now the Outback Bowl) Harbor Bowl Los Angeles Christmas Festival Mercy Bowl MicronPC Bowl (another Tangerine Bowl connection) Oil Bowl O'Ahu Bowl Pasadena Bowl (the Junior Rose Bowl) Presidential Cup Salad Bowl (my favorite) San Diego X-Mas Classic Seattle Bowl (recent defunct lasting a whole two years) Shrine Bowl

Randy Johnson Trade to the Yankees

Odalis Perez's most similar pitcher through age 27 is Denny Neagle so he's very likely to get his dick sucked by some filthy whore at age 36.

ESPN: A.P. to pull out of BCS next season

In the great scheme of things this doesn't mean much because the AP already has its own seperate national champion and really has no reason to be part of the BCS. The BCS decides the Coaches Poll national champ only.

    And So it Begins

Thank you grasshopper. Actually I'd take Cabrera over Eckstein as well but it proves how incredibly overrated Cabrera became just by playing on the World Champs. Angels could have signed a decent starting pitcher at what they are paying Cabrera.
