Stanford was a completely different team offensively with a healthy Trent Edwards at quarterback so they were far from shitty at that point in the season. UCLA averaged over 30 points a game this year.

I fully support a 16 team playoff and don't think it's too many teams at all. Remember there are 117 teams in Division I-A so you can't compare it to pro leagues and their playoff systems. That would be less than 15% of all team's in college football making the playoffs as compared to MLB which has more than 25% of their team's making the playoffs and the NBA with more than 50%. Even with 64 teams college basketball sends less than 20% of it's teams to postseason. Also a college football season is only 11 games long so a team is playing less than 10% of the competition. Who's to say Virginia Tech can't be the best team in the country? Some would say they would have beaten USC if it weren't for a phantom pass interference call. My proposal is 16 teams, with conference champions ranked in the Top 25 getting automatic bids (so the Sun Belt conference isn't there to get blown out 70-0 in the first round), and using a BCS type system for the seedings. Part of me doesn't ever want a playoff though as I know the NCAA would screw it up some how.

It's official: Texas hopped Cal, Texas is going to the Rose Bowl. Costs the Pac-10 $12.2 million. Knocks Cal to the Holiday Bowl and knocks everyone else in the Pac-10 down a spot, moves Texas A&M to the Cotton Bowl and everyone else in the Big XII up one spot. That all being said, for Cal....BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA 46 years and counting! You'll never get back to the Rose Bowl. Okay I am unhappy about no Big Ten/Pac-10 match-up. Michigan vs. Texas? I'd say it's safe to say the Pac-10 hates the BCS. This would mark the fourth time in five years that a Pac-10 team has been perceived as being screwed out of the BCS, although the other three times all related to the title game (Washington 2000, Oregon 2001, USC 2003). The Pac-10 was the most reluctant conference to join the BCS because of the Rose Bowl ties (the Rose Bowl is the bowl game on the west coast, many could careless about the rest) and if they could I think they'd try to get out of it.

Yup the preseason polls decided the Orange Bowl. Actually if you pushed me in a corner as to say who I think the two best teams in the country are I'd say USC and Oklahoma but it's not without a huge amount doubt. There are legit cases for and against all three teams. College football absolutely needs a playoff system and the last two years and examples before that have proven why.

Well does it really matter at that point what team it is? Georgia I classify with Boise State, Penn State, and West Virginia as being on "probation." Oh and the person who has the highest ranked 6-7 team has accepted the invite and that was..... Texas (Flyboy) The final BCS rankings after tonight's game will have all 32 teams' rankings.

It was called back, final score 26-16. See this is how ridiculous the system is that a BCS berth could be decided by a weak clipping call that cost Cal a chance to win by a larger margin.

I could probably answer that now but...why ruin any possible suspense? I've decided to invite the highest ranked 6-7 team to the open bowl slot left by A_MikeSC since Boston College lost. That person has been PM'd to see if they do want to participate but I haven't heard from them yet.

I believe the Rose Bowl would take Texas over Utah in that scenerio. I wouldn't say it's a slam dunk Texas passes Cal but it might be better than 50/50 now.

Wow, now that was unexpected. Southern Miss looks to tie it with the extra point and Cal blocks and returns it back for two points to go up 19-16.

For the last time, there is absolutely, 100%, no chance, nada, zippo that Utah will not be in a BCS bowl. They are guarenteed a spot. The only spot in doubt at the moment is between Cal and Texas.

If Cal wins it's not looking like they will win big. With Mack Brown's whining don't be shocked if enough coaches change their votes to move Texas ahead of Cal.

By the number of points scored so far in the SEC title game, UCLA (phoenixrising) are the Pac-8 Champions as they will win at least by tiebreak. Quite the amazing season for phoenix as he started 0-4 but has won nine of their last ten.
