  7. It's the list you've all been waiting for...the guys who aren't good enough be starting pitchers or closers!!!! I almost decided to skip doing middle relievers this year as I'm rarely satisfied with the final rankings and always change the guidelines that I use for who I include in the rankings. This year I opted for the top 60 in relief appearance, excluding those who will be on the closer list. I should probably do more than 60 as there's a few good ones that don't qualify (Grant Balfour and Brad Ziegler for example) but there's only so much time want to spend looking at stats for set up men. '08 Player Rankings: Middle Relievers

You're wrong, he did play for the Reds...oh wait in 2000. When typing this list I had to re-look up about 20 of these guys to see what team they played for this year as I couldn't remember as so many middle relievers are non-descript. Not sure why I assumed Villone played for the Reds but he's also played for 12 different teams in his career. Another example that if you have a son, teach him to throw left handed and he'll have a good chance at having a long MLB career without doing anything relevant.

Not me, the cut off line is 10 miles north of me. I'm a Florida State fan but I didn't want to see them this week. So the one week I don't WANT to see em is the week I see them. That bloody well figures. What happened to that thing where ABC would show one game and ESPN would be showing the other big game? That worked pretty damn well. The "reverse mirror" arrangement was set up last season as part of the Big Ten's new t.v. deal as the 3:30/12:30 PM Big Ten game must always be nationally televised, which is why if you don't get their game on ABC it will be ESPN/ESPN2. For the Big XII and Pac-10, FSN is still the primary cable outlet for those conferences so ESPN is not allowed to usd one of their games as a "reverse mirror" so that is why the Oklahoma State/Texas game can only be seen on ABC. Expect several horse racing references by the announcers during the Texas Tech/Kansas game which will be the lead in to the Breeder's Cup. I guess the only question will be if any player during that game breaks their leg, will they shoot him to keep up theme?

  20. T Boone Pickens State University killed the chance of having a #1 vs. #2 match-up in Austin this week. The Longhorns win over Oklahoma last week was just week one of four weeks of hell for them as even if they knock off Mizzou they still have TBPSU and Texas Tech to deal with the following two weeks. The way Penn State is looking, this week's Ohio State/Michigan State game could end up only being for the right to play in the Capital One Bowl. On the other hand if the Spartans win you can circle their season finale at Happy Valley on the calendar to possibly determine the Big Ten title which would be a nice change of pace from the usual Ohio State/Michigan game determining conference bragging rights. In other Top 25 match-ups, Kansas travels to Oklahoma and I'm guessing the Jayhawks wished the Sooners had beaten Texas in a chance to catch them in a letdown game but that goes out the window now. And Vanderbilt could have had the always coveted ESS EEE SEE on SEE BEE ESS game this week but they got Croom'd on Saturday and their tilt against Georgia has been sent off to Raycom's Three Daves. Before all of that though there is an important game Thursday night as BYU plays at TCU in what is for the Cougars both their only real test and the only real chance to get the attention of the voters, if they can win in dominating fashion, before their finale on November 22nd against Utah. Bored's College Football Pick 'Em - Week 8

Bad week to be in the Top 10 as they go a combined 1-7 vs. non-Top 10 players. Now sometimes when this happens it actually doesn't lead to much change in the rankings as you'd expect but that is not the case this week as we have probably our biggest shake up of the year. For once beating #1 actually results in someone jumping to #1 as iggymcfly edged out Mecca for the top spot as those two now have a small cushion from the rest of the Top 10. The big winners besides iggy this week were UZI Suicide, by way of attrition, and AboveAverage484, who had his second straight big week. The biggest losers ended up being Vampiro69, who dropped five spots, and Edwin MacPhisto who couldn't even get a "vote" after handing Obi Chris Kenobi his first ever win. Going to get very interesting these next few weeks as we have a huge glut of players sitting at 5-3. And hey there's no more unbeaten (or winless) teams left. Saved me $50 again!!!! Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 8 1. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 2.85 2. Nebraska - Mecca 3.0 3. Arizona - UZI Suicide 5.55 4. N.C. State - AboveAverage484 5.85 5.
