The FSU/Miami game has been postponed to next Friday. This obviously creates a problem since it was two of the tiebreakers. It's too late to add a tiebreaker so we'll just go with the New Mexico/Washington State and the Matt Leinart tiebreakers. The following match-ups can end up in a tie: #5 Florida (Agent Bond34) vs. #6 Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto) #1 Florida State (2GOLD) vs. Miami (Spaceman Spiff) #8 Minnesota (Vern Gagne) vs. Washington State (bravesfan) #9 LSU (teke184) vs. Michigan (Mad Dog) #10 UCLA (phoenixrising) vs. Penn State (therealsworldchampion) Michigan State (Dangerous A) vs. Rutgers (the pinjockey) Auburn (Agent of Oblivion) vs. Texas (Flyboy) Hawaii (Will Scarlet) vs. Alabama (AlwaysPissedOff) Minnesota/Washington State and Auburn/Texas will be decided by the New Mexico/Wazzu result if they finish tied. All other match-ups above will be decided by the Matt Leinart question if there is a tie. For those wondering Leinart threw for 272 yards. For next week I'll still have everyone make a pick for the Miami/FSU game so you will be able to change it if you so choose.

Because of Hurricane Frances the FSU/Miami game might be postponed to the following Saturday. I found this funny though in the AP article: Yup, ABC is probably going to have the final say.
-
In hindsight a seperate thread should have been created after last night's game. I'm already Bored reading about the Yankees.

Yes I think we've established the 32 point comeback won't be there becuase of no one defining moment in the game. My guess is Tyson's conviction is #6.

#7: Magic Johnson announces he's HIV-positive

Honestly it's been my expierence that majority of fans shrug off blow out losses, especially when their team is good. There are just some games where everything goes wrong and most fans recognize that, even AS. Watching your team lose a close game where they had many chances to win is much worse. A's win tonight, Angels and Rangers both lose. Finally a small cushion in the division. Anyone noticed the incredible year Aaron Rowand is having? .322/.377/.583.

Week 1 Useless Information -Games everyone agreed on: Michigan over Miami of Ohio, Oklahoma over Bowling Green, Virginia over Temple, Tennessee over UNLV. -Games with most differing picks: Oklahoma State over UCLA 17-15, Colorado over Colorado State 17-15, Louisiana Tech over Nevada 18-14. -the pinjockey (Rutgers) was the only poster to pick Kentucky over Louisville. One note other note is that ESPN has decided to show Central Florida/Wisconsin instead of the California/Air Force game. I have no idea why beyond that ESPN seems to show every single Wisconsin home game. So you'll only be able to see that game if you have ESPN Game Plan but all other games you can see besides the ABC regional games.

Now that I think about it al is probably right, the 32 point comeback probably won't be there. There wasn't a singular moment, which is what the list focuses on, in the game that stands out that you could focus on. Maybe Andre Reed's touchdown to give them the lead but the Oilers actually tied it back up to send it to overtime.

Okay when I saw this live it was definently a cool moment. But #8??? This is obviously just an excuse to have an Ali moment on the list. This also knocks at least one huge moment off the list entirely as none of us even thought of this one. #8: Ali lights the flame at the 1996 Olympics

Okay we are one week away from the kick off of the college football season so it's time to start the contest. A reminder again that Week 1 will include the first two weekends of the season. One note, I may have to replace someone in the contest. I've pm'd that person to see if they will still be participating. I've lined up a replacement just in case and have pm'd them. I will pm that person's opponent as well to let them know that there might be a replacement. This will have no effect on the season schedule. You may either post your picks in this thread or pm me, it makes no difference to me. I will post my picks and all pm'd picks next Saturday morning. Deadline for Week 1 picks: Saturday, August 28th at 7:45 PM EST/4:45 PM PST Week 1 (8/28 - 9/6) Schedule - Edit: I'll mark who has made their picks with an asterisk, including pm'd ones. Edit 2: Do not change your picks. #9: Doug Flutie's Hail Mary beats Miami, 47-45
-
Well I'm still waiting to hear from the other replacement and looks like lomasmoney will never make his picks. So if anyone who isn't in the contest who reads this feel free to volunteer to take over Michigan State and make picks for the remaining games. Anyone in the contest who knows someone on the board who you think might want to join please ask them. It's first come, first serve. I really don't want to forfeit a team in the first week and have the potential problem of having a dead team for the entire season.
-
What would Bonds get in for again? They already put up the homerun record. Ditto for Jordan. All of his major moments have been covered. Here's what's left: Miracle on Ice, Bill Buckner play, Kirk Gibson's homerun, Doug Flutie's hail mary, Mark McGwire's homerun record, Magic Johnson announces he's HIV positive, Bills 32 point comeback, Pete Rose banned from baseball, Mike Tyson convicted of rape.
-
Mark Mulder today: three strikeouts, six walks. Last seven starts: 20 strikeouts, 26 walks. But he's in line for the win (6-4 in the 6th) and he'd improve to 5-1 during those starts. Luckiest pitcher in baseball right now. He has no business even being discussed for the Cy Young but not that those idiot baseball writers notice anything beyond the win column. On the other side of the coin Eric Chavez is quietly having an amazing year but no one is noticing because of those 33 games missed due to a broken wrist. If he isn't hit by that pitch he might have made a run at the MVP.

All O.J., all the time. #10: O.J. Simpson drives around in white Bronco

I'm not sure it was necessarily a protestor or just some nut case. What do the Scottish have against Brazil?

Kingofthe909 is replacing Big_Jay101 for Georgia. Here are his picks. Thursday, September 2nd Utah TCU Friday, September 3rd Washington State - Tiebreaker #2 Saturday, September 4th Michigan Oklahoma California Virginia Michigan State Oklahoma State Clemson Oregon State Tulane Colorado Minnesota Notre Dame Sunday, September 5th Purdue Louisville Fresno State Tennessee Monday, September 6th Louisiana Tech Pittsburgh Florida State - Tiebreaker #1 Tiebreaker #3: How many total points will be scored in the Florida State/Miami game? 45 Once I hear from the second replacement they'll get Michigan State unless lomasmoney gets his picks in before then.
-
I had 273, but it doesn't look like that tiebreaker will come into play in any of the match-ups although again still waiting on the two replacements. I'll be making a change to the tiebreakers for week 2 but I'll get into that when I create the results thread.
-
As a wide receiver. Three touchdown catches.
-
nogoodnick, who has Oregon, pm'd his picks to me late but he's still in the contest, just won't be able to pick up a point for tonight. Thursday, September 2nd Utah Northwestern Friday, September 3rd Washington State Tiebreaker #2 Saturday, September 4th Michigan Oklahoma California Virginia Michigan State Oklahoma State Clemson LSU Mississippi State Colorado Minnesota Notre Dame Sunday, September 5th Purdue Louisville Fresno State Tennessee Monday, September 6th Nevada Pittsburgh Florida State - Tiebreaker #1 Tiebreaker #3: How many total points will be scored in the Florida State/Miami game? 55 points

That phantom offensive pass interference call was huge, it's completely changed the momentum of the game. USC strikes quickly with the long td to Bush.
-
Va Tech is completely outplaying USC to this point. The Tatupu interception is the only reason USC is in front for the moment. Va Tech is moving the ball pretty much at will and Leinart seems rattled and that tendinitis in his elbow I think is effecting him. Va Tech td, they take the lead. It's pretty much a road game as you can tell for USC. They better be careful as they are in serious danger of getting upset the way things are going.
-
Deadline has past, three posters didn't get their picks in. Georgia, Michigan State, and Oregon are now up for grabs. I have two posters who have expressed interest in being replacements and have asked them to submit picks, excluding tonight's game, and who they would like to replace. Until I get those replacments settled I'll hold off on creating the results topic with pick breakdowns for each match-up. The only match-up that will be effected by tonight's game is Notre Dame (Lando Griffin) vs. Maryland (MarvinisaLunatic) as Marvin was the only person to pick Virginia Tech to win.
-
Just 7+ hours until the deadline and then I'll have to start looking for replacements for those teams. I've had one person PM me about being a replacement. I'll go ahead and post my picks and anyone who has pm'd their picks.
