I've always thought that at least one reason the '98 expansion happened was so Bud could live out his dream of having a National League team in Milwaukee again (grew up a Milwaukee Braves fan). The '98 expansion was totally unecessary.

Rhodes is on the DL but will be back fairly soon. Yankees could probably have him for almost nothing as the A's have a roster crunch right now with a bunch of players coming off the DL. You know the A's bullpen has been much better lately but both the A's losses this road trip were due to the bullpen. It's so hard to think about how the A's would be running away with the West if they had a good bullpen this year. Maybe The Avatar will pitch like he did in 2002 tommorrow. And maybe Jimmie Foxx will rise from the dead and hit three homeruns for the A's tommorrow.

But just like Koch, it is an adventure every time with Dotel and like Koch he blows quite a few big games. Still better than Arthur Rhodes obviously but we're closer snobs in Oakland for obvious reasons and we expect our closers to slam the door 1-2-3 every time. Hope they can win this in extras since The Avatar is pitching tommorrow.
