He'll have his first year of eligibility next year and he's a lock to get in on the first ballot. Here's the first time eligible players next year:

Bumping so this doesn't fall off the page so might as well bring content. Here is the games you will all be picking from for Week 1. This should be the complete national television and ABC regional schedule for the first two weekends. This will probably be the most games you'll pick from for any week (23 total) as there are Sunday and Monday games as well because the NFL season won't kick off until the following week. Please don't submit any picks yet, we'll hold that off until about a week before the USC/Va Tech game when I create the official topic for picks. Saturday, August 28th USC vs. Virginia Tech Thursday, September 2nd Texas A&M at Utah Northwestern at TCU Friday, September 3rd Washington State at New Mexico Saturday, September 4th Miami of Ohio at Michigan Bowling Green at Oklahoma California at Air Force Virginia at Temple Michigan State at Rutgers Oklahoma State at UCLA Wake Forest at Clemson Oregon State at LSU Tulane at Mississippi State Colorado State at Colorado Toledo at Minnesota Notre Dame at BYU Sunday, September 5th Syracuse at Purdue Kentucky at Louisville Fresno State at Washington UNLV at Tennessee Monday, September 6th Nevada at Louisiana Tech Pittsburgh at South Florida Florida State at Miami

Oh for the love of political correctness. #44: Annika Sorenstam tees off in a PGA event

And yet you're using all his stats from six years AND BEYOND. And you seem to be ignoring the fact that Timlin was pretty much lights out up to that point in the playoffs. Really, your un-natural hatred of Mike Timlin should preclude you from this argument. I heard Timlin likes to beat up elderly women. A sports talk radio host agrees with you? Well then there is just no more reason to argue with you. Oh and I'd argue JT the Brick has never known what he was talking about.

Alfonzo has had a much better year? 2003: .334 OBP, .391 SLG 2004: .339 OBP, .390 SLG

This thread made me wonder when was the last time I actually watched a Yankee/Red Sox game and I honestly can't remember. I'm guessing probably the '99 ALCS I might have tuned into one game.

Yesterday's and today's. I don't really think a tribute belongs on the list, let alone as high as #46. For #45 I was afraid it'd crack the Top 20 and happy it didn't. SLIDE YOU FAT FUCK! #46: Baseball's stars pay tribute to Ted Williams #45: Jeter's backhand flip rescues Yankees

Willie Bloomquist is still there. But hey he's scrappy!

A's Jim Mecir - Perfect example as to why you don't give middle relievers long term deals. Thankfully his contract is up after this year. Arthur Rhodes - Complete bust and has already managed to piss off most of his teammates. Worst of all he's signed through 2006. If someone is willing to take him off the A's hands between now and August 31st (waiver trade deadline), they'll be more than happy to do so. Barry Zito - I've felt he was already starting to lose it last season. Often last year he just seemed to be just getting by, putting himself in jams but getting out of them most of the time but in the progress racking up his pitch counts where he'd often be at 100 pitches by the 6th. This year he isn't pitching out of those jams and his ERA has skyrocket as a result. It's certainly not impossible that he may turn things around but he seems more focused on off the field matters (music, acting, pussy...not that there's anything wrong with that) than he is baseball. A's have enough pitching depth in the Majors and Minors for him to be expendable and he's a good bet to be dealt this offseason. Too bad it's going to be a year too late after when they really could have gotten some big time talent for him.

But...the A's don't need a new stadium. The Oakland Coliseum looks to be in fine shape structurally, and the A's seem to be quite comfy there. Don't they have the best home field advantage in baseball? They don't need some typical retro park, just let them keep doin' their thing in that big ugly concrete thing with its huge-ass foul territory. I know they don't and I'd be perefectly happy if they never did. But in Bud Selig's world the A's won't be allowed to stay in Oakland if they don't build a new stadium or at least take a real step in that direction. So in that reality I have to hope a new stadium will be built, although with as little amount of public funds as possible. Extortion is hell of a drug for Mr. Selig. Speaking of the home field advantage, the Rangers kicked the shit out of them and Mulder tonight. If the Rangers come into Oakland and win the series (or god forbid sweep) I'll now officially be worried about them. This has really been one of the most shocking turn arounds I've ever seen.

#47: Titans stun Bills on disputed 'Music City Miracle'

In a report yesterday A's ownership said they will put up $100 million for a new stadium, which is about 25% of what will be needed. If they can't get the stadium built (which would be located at the same site as the current stadium) they will sell the team likely to owners who would move the team. Sorta good and bad news. I'm not sure they can get the rest soley from the private sector so they'd probably still have use some tax payer money. Guess it's at least a start.

A's gets swept (if it's possible to be swept in a two game series) by the Fighting Bavasi's. They are an embarassing 4-5 against that pathetic team this year. Since the middle of May the A's 7-20 on the road. They've gone 22-5 at home during the same period of time. It's literally like watching two different teams and I just don't get it.

Yes pieces of the Kingdom roof had fallen while no one was there in 1994 and if the strike didn't happen I believe they were going to have to find another venue to play the rest of the season. I actually had tickets to a Mariners/Blue Jays game (my first chance to see a MLB game outside the Bay Area and in a dome) that summer on a family vacation to Vancouver and Seattle but would've never been able to use them even if the season had continued.

Um, why is Happy Gilmore on ESPN right now?

If anyone needs an outfielder in the outfielder in the A.L. only league please send me (BillBavasiOverdrive) an offer as I'm overloaded at the position. I have Sheffield, Dye, Ordonez, Kotsay, Rowand, and Winn. Mainly looking for pitching, starters or closers. In the mixed league (The Gallegos) I'm loaded with good starting pitching and I'm looking for a power hitter.

We really won't know how hard anyone's schedule is until the season starts as the Top 10 is only based on a small sample from the Bowl Pick 'Em contest. We have several people in the contest who didn't particpate in that one along with the newbies to the board. I think among the newbies therealworldschampion (Penn State) could be the biggest threat.

With Tim Hudson slow to return from the DL, the A's aren't looking to trade Zito anymore...unfortunently.
-
Baldelli is overrated but being compared to Joe DiMaggio about a month into your career will do that.
-
A's are probably looking for a second baseman as the Scutaro/McLemore platoon isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. They'll probably look for a bat period as Scott Hatteberg has come down to earth these past few weeks and not much surprise that Eric Byrnes is cooling off as well just like he did last year. Middle relief could always use a boost. Also look for the A's to try to dump Arthur Rhodes and Eric Karros on someone that has lost their mind.
-
Alright they probably just reported it as a rumor.

Yesterday's and today's. You know I do remember Jimmy V's speech and it was certainly an emotional moment but...Top 50? I couldn't see this being so high if it wasn't ESPN related. The placement of it also makes me think they just stuck it in there themselves but placing it right at #50. #50: "Don't give up. Don't ever give up." #49: Jordan's shot wins title for Carolina
