Looking for confirmation on this story but I read on another board that WFAN has reported that the Pirates have traded Jason Kendall and Kris Benson to the Mets for Ty Wigginton, Jason Phillips, and a prospect.

Speaking of Pittburgh getting it, I'm certainly no Giants fan but San Francisco got screwed. I'm pretty sure it has to do with Pac Bell/SBC Park being built using private funds while PNC was built using tax payers' money. When the game is played in 2006 it will be just 12 years since Pittsburgh last hosted it. Kansas City, Oakland, Minnesota, and others will never host an All-Star Game again until they extort their city (or move to another) into building them a stadium.

You know I've always felt the wild card should play the team that won their division as after all it is the divisional playoffs. I've never liked the idea of two teams from the same division playing for the pennant.

Besides it won't have any impact on the regular season rankings, it's just to have rankings at the start of the season just for the sake of having them. Bowl names are picked, AoO contributing one of them. Hilarity will ensue I assure you.

Sorry I put it at 32 just in case there was a lack of interest and I did have to ask personally a couple of people to fill the final two spots. Also putting a cap on how many people are in it makes the contest easier for me to manage. I'd let more in but I have the schedule finished (which I think I'll post later tonight when I get home from work) so it'd be a pain to go back and redo it to add more teams. We do have five newbies in the contest so there is always a chance someone will drop out so I'll put you two on the back-up list with bravesfan currently be the 1st alternate. For that matter if anyone who signed up who is thinking they might not be able to particpate all season then let me know now. Oh and I did total points against rather than opponents record because it will be much easier to do than every week having to go through each team's schedule to update their opponents record. Besides in a contest like this how many picks you opponent picks against you the week you play them is all that really matters. In real life a team can affect how well there opponent plays. In this you have no real impact on how your opponent picks.

True enough. Joe Crede hasn't exactly been tearing it up for the White Sox this year so maybe Kenny Williams could be interested in Batista. He's never been the sharpest knife in the GM drawer. Maybe the Padres also could be interested with Sean Burroughs complete lack of power at 3rd.

He's been the worst regular 3rd baseman in baseball so there is no one he could replace that he'd be better than. He's barely an adequate back-up at this point.

Going to the A's game today. Bad news, I have to see Mark Redman pitch and not Mark Mulder. Good news, I won't have to deal with Fox's horrible announcers and production by watching the game at home.

If anyone has any suggestions for possible bowl names (there will be seven of them) I'd love to hear them. I have a couple in mind already. I'm looking basically for products or websites that you'd never see sponsoring a bowl game. I know there is a lot you could use but can only use so many feminine products and porn sites. I'm on the fence about him going in although his 162 game averages are very similar to Rafael Palmeiro and has the same career OPS+, 134. The thing working against McGriff is even though they both came up in 1986, Palemiro has some how played 134 more games so his career totals are better across the board. It would be interesting to see who the HOF would chooose for the cap McGriff should wear if he was elected. Can make cases for Toronto, San Diego, and Atlanta. He was at his best in Toronto and San Diego but I think some might remember him better with the Braves.

He also comes up short on HOF Standards, Black Ink, and Grey Ink. I think he's a longshot.
