#82: Earnhardt wins the Daytona 500 on his 20th try
-
Woo hoo A's bullpen doesn't blow it today!
-
I seriously think we should create a seperate topic for tonight's Yankee/Dodger games so AS won't fill up this topic with posts if Weaver even pitches slightly well.
-
He's attending a funeral. The A's bullpen has been so bad that Rhodes actually has probably been their second best reliever.
-
Let's not go down this road again...just let him vent JHawk. To calm down from the idiocy of Ken Macha and the pathetic Jim Mecir, what the hell are the Marlins thinking trading for Koch? Total bailout for the White Sox there.
-
Scutaro's error was bad but who gives a shit when you load the bases with nobody out. The second Mecir stepped on the mound the A's had already lost. How the the hell can they justify using their worst pitcher on the entire team (well Rincon against righties might be the worst pitcher in baseball) to try to a close a game? It makes my head hurt to think how many games they'd be up on the Angels right now if their bullpen was halfway decent.
-
A's are fucking idiots. They are trying Jim Mecir at closer AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! He's their worst reliever for crying out loud! Already loaded the bases, nobody out. Scutaro makes his first error of the season, two runs in. Save blown. Game over, A's lose. The "fire Ken Macha" avatar goes up now.

#83 Kobe declares: 'I'm innocent'
-
I guess this topic is as good as any to plug that I'm going to be putting together a college football pick 'em contest for the entire season instead of just the bowls. And yes there will be a prize for the winner. I'll post details when the season gets closer.
-
Ken Macha is a fucking moron. Situation is runner on 2nd with two out in the bottom of the 8th, A's down 3-2. Edgar Renteria is up and...Macha issues an intentional walk!? Why? Renteria hasn't hit well this year and who gives a shit about setting up a force at 2nd? Reggie Sanders up next...three run homerun.

Hilarious cover to this week's USA Today Sports Weekly. It has Giants' closer Matt Herges on the cover (I have no idea why) and it reads "Matt Herges has learned from the best. Now he's putting those lessons to use. Racking Up Saves." Yes he's got an ERA over 5 but he's racking up saves so who cares!? See some moron is going to see Herges on the cover and actually think he's good.

#84: Dean Smith breaks record with 877th win
-
I'm assuming he's being sarcastic, just he isn't funny enough to pull it off.
-
NBA Basketball has become completely unwatchable IMO so I saw barely any of the series but for those who watched did the Lakers even show up tonight? Is the city of Detroit on fire yet?

Well it's not that early with the All-Star Game being less than a month away. Adam Everett isn't going to end up as the starting shortstop though, Kaz Matsui will once the unfair Japanese interent vote is counted. Though in that case Matsui is having a better year than Everett. Edgar Renteria has come crashing down to earth so far this season.

#86: Ray Bourque finally lifts the Stanley Cup
-
I guess this question would be specifically for Vern Gagne, although anyone can answer, but is Lew Ford eligible for the ROY or not? I'm fairly certain he isn't but espn.com lists him as a rookie in their statistics section.
-
A's score 13 more runs today to give them 71 in the last six games. They've gone from not ranking the Top 20 in runs scored in MLB to being in the Top 10 and now have scored more runs this year than the Angels. Thank you Reds and Pirates pitching. To go along with their amazing home record in recent years they are now 42-9 at home in interleague play. Too bad they play 18 of 24 on the road to close out the first half of the season so they are gonna cool off. Oh well not like literally every regular can stay red hot like they are right now.
-
I guess you know they wouldn't be able to hold out on doing this but they should just do the first half of the decade. What's the point of reminiscing about things that happened as recently as five years ago?

#88: Yankees strike again with 9th-inning magic

Jermaine Dye RBI single in the bottom of the 9th ends it, 12-11. Rhodes gets the vulture. A's have scored 58 runs in the last five games.
