Well since it's Americans doing the list so wouldn't they mainly be focused on American sports or at least North America? Sorry don't expect many soccer/football moments beyond the overrated '99 Women's World Cup team moment which will probably crack the Top 10 since it's ESPN. Anyways moment #94 involves an athlete from Great Britain...although the article actually fails to point that out.
-
Chalk that up to it happened in New York so it's overrated. You know what's so funny already is that they put one of the greatest World Series games, in one of the greatest World Series ever just barely on the list and it's already below trivial moments like the Fridge's touchdown (more people probably remember is Super Bowl td anyways) and Clemens throwing the bat. I do like Hendu's homerun being on the list (although should have been higher) since it arguably did lead to Donnie Moore's suicide. Sometimes sports is a matter of life and death.

That's retarded. I don't think the Cancer demographic is exactly strong enough to warrant this. "Rape" is too played out in the WWE, as they've hinted at it way too much in stupid lil angles. They couldn't really get away with it in-ring and that's where something like this needs to be. The spirit is there, but the details need to be sorted out. What if the person had colon cancer?

The Yankees don't seem to need two good middle infielders. Again this is all irrelevent because ownership was never going to pay the money to keep Tejada. Also Tejada's contract isn't that back loaded as yes he only makes $7 million this year but it will jump to $11 million next year, which is $2.5 million more than Eric Chavez will make next year. He'll make $12-13 million/year the remainder of the contract which is about what the A's will have to be paying Tim Hudson when they likley sign him to an extension this offseason. There was some details that had to be worked out in the contract about a no trade clause when they made the deal but the money was already in place. Here is an article when Kotsay signed his extension in 2002: http://www.maps.signonsandiego.com/sports/...14sullivan.html
-
FS get your facts straight it was ownership that said they weren't going to even attempt to sign Tejada before the 2003 season started (which probably contributed to his horrendous start to that season) because they said they couldn't afford him. Also on top of that Kotsay signed that extension back in July 2002 with the Padres. This past offseason certainly wasn't Beane's best but he is primarily responsible for this team winning 392 games in a four-year span.
-
Wow, he went 1 for 5. Blue Jays going to retire his number now? Fun fact: A's starters now have seven straight no decisions. In six of the seven games the starter allowed two runs or less. Fun fact #2: A's are pretty much screwed with this offense (which was mediocre at best with Chavez) and bullpen. Fun fact #3: I'm soooooooooo not looking forward to mental morons that make up half of A's fans who will want Beane fired for not making the playoffs this year and to hire a GM who values "small ball."

The little piece of shit's run ends tonight. Get used to the 0 for 4 with two strikeouts that he had last night.

Linda Cohn promo for SportsCenter: "How video games are promoting violence...and SEX!" Man SportsCenter is becoming as legitimate as local news.

Now without doing any research but the first name that came to mind when I made the suggestion was Mike Sharperson of the Dodgers in 1992 when they lost 99 games. HE WAS A PLATOON PLAYER! Nice OBP (.387) that year but he only played in more than 100 games three times in his career and never played in more than 129.
-
Call me crazy but you shouldn't be making the All-Star team when you've missed the first two months of the season. That's sounds like a "career achievement" pick to me. Ya your right. Second Half Numbers from last year: Garciaparra: .274/.329/.500 Tejada: .326/.388/.536 Come on Al you just don't like Tejada for taking the MVP from your boy A-Rod in 2002.
-
Tejada wouldn't be deserving to supplant Nomar?
-
Well about time Kotsay hit his first homerun with the A's. Official word on Chavez is he is out 6-8 weeks.
-
Official word of the A's season going down the shitter will come later today. Edit: Chavez says he's out at least three weeks. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp Wrist injuries usually keep someone out longer than expected, and when they come back they aren't the same player. It's also another All-Star caliber or marquee player who's been injured for a significant amotnt of time. Way to cheer me up Vern! Good lord with all the Angels injuries and now this maybe it's not so crazy to think the Rangers can hang around.
-
The A's closer problems maybe have just cost them their season last night. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=240601111 Official word of the A's season going down the shitter will come later today. Duchscherer has pretty much cruised through three innings of relief as the game is in the 12th. Really what did they have to lose by giving him a shot to close it tonight? They simply have had no one near as reliable as him this year and I know the A's don't believe in that "closer mentality" bullshit. A good long reliever is a pretty much a luxury anyways so no reason to just keep him in that role with such a glaring need at closer. Edit: Bobby Kielty walk-off homerun ends it, A's win 6-4.
-
Damn would the Pirates fall out of contention already so the A's can get Jose Mesa? YES I'M THAT DESPERATE!
-
Jose Valentin homers, tie game. Shoot me now.
-
A's are up 4-3 on the White Sox in the bottom of the 8th. The big question now is: will they give Arthur Rhodes another chance? I'm hoping they just score three or four runs in the bottom of the 8th so I don't even have to worry about it. Edit: Jim Mecir is up in the bullpen...um is this supposed to make me feel better? Damn just let Duchscherer have a shot already.

Hmmm and I wonder what people those would be? Oh well Yankee fans are just as guilty for voting for Jeter. It'd be one thing if those two were leading if there was absolutely no one else having a good year but Tejada, Young, and Guillen all are having very good years. Al better stuff for Berkman because if Griffey gets voted a starter he's going to be taking away his boy's spot. I thought they said only the A.L. voting would be out today but the N.L. was out as well. Everyone start stuffing for Tejada or Young at shortstop (oh and Carlos Guillen) in the A.L. Astros fans are stuffing the ballots in full force which kinda had to be expected. Oh and for the lazy people who only read the last page, here is the voting and my picks again. Because that would give an odd number of teams in each league which would mean an interleague series would have been scheduled for everyday of the season.
-
But they wouldn't need to move anyone to the Central. The Central currently has six teams and the East has five. Why can't the East have six and the Central have five? That's why I've always wondered why when the Brewers moved the N.L. that the Pirates weren't then moved to the East?
