Did you know there is no such thing as left/right platoon splits? As in there is no such thing as "lefty mashers". Did you even care? Well if you did here is an article by Rob Neyer on it which was sparked by a headache inducing debate on the Baseball Primer comment boards about the A's signing of Eric Karros. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor..._rob&id=1728907

Boller was the yearly looked great in workouts player who's stock skyrockets and someone wastes a first round pick on him. I couldn't believe going into last year's draft that there was actually debate on whether Boller or Byron Leftwich would be the second quarterback taken after Carson Palmer. Even though college stats obviously don't tell the whole story of a player, if a quarterback couldn't complete 50% of their passes in college (in a west coast offense no less) then they probably aren't worth a 1st round pick.

Hell fucking ya!!!! God damn its been ages since I've seen this show. It definently became stale towards the end of its run but its been gone so long that it actually seems fresh again.

This ruling had no impact on Fitzgerald as the NFL was going to allow him to enter the draft and officially did today. There was just some technical issue of whether he did really meet the eligibily requirements and he did. The main reason why people are hating on Clarett as if your fan of basketball you've seen college basketball be stripped of all of its star power due to players entering the NBA out of high school or being one year and done college players. By proxy the quality of play in the NBA has reached horrendous levels as most of these players are not ready to play at the NBA level. We as fans don't want to see the same thing happen to college football and/or the NFL.

Considering Mulder would have started Game 1 of the ALCS if they had won Game 5, I think he'll be okay. Personally I'm more worried about Barry Zito's decreasing strikeouts than Mulder's hip.

The Angels have 5 capable starters....remember I know this I live 30 minutes away from the stadium and go to games all the time....by the way they have some really good pitchers in triple-a ball. I don't see the A's winning the World Series and thus I didn't include them. He lives 30 minutes from the stadium...well can't argue with him now! Having five capable starters doesn't mean they are all good. On top of that I wouldn't describe Ramon Ortiz or John Lackey as capable last year, just bad. Washburn was capable last year but he needs to return to his 2002 form. And I know this because I was born in Anaheim. Oh TAG!

Without looking at every team in the league its hard to imagine a team having a worse infield defense than the Yankees going into the year. Problem is right now the Yankees just don't have much of a farm system and have no tradable commodities on the active roster beyond Alfonso Soriano and it'd still be way too hasty to deal him now just because of his lousy postseason. Also trading Soriano would just create a hole at 2nd and solve nothing. They're just going to have to wait until the July 31st deadline to get a decent 3rd baseman off a team out of contention. Before Lamb was basically forced off the Rangers roster because they had Hank Blalock he put up decent numbers in 2001 and 2002. Yankees actually have bigger concerns than 3rd at this point and those being keeping Jason Giambi, Bernie Williams, and Kevin Brown all upright the whole season.

Angels need bounce back years from Jarrod Washburn and Ramon Ortiz and they need Troy Glaus and Troy Percival to be healthy all year. Angels are much improved and it wouldn't shock me if they won the division but they by no means own the division. The A's starting rotation is still vastly superior to the Angels even with Colon and Escobar.

Now not that I'm saying the A's will win the Worlds Series but the MARINERS are listed and not the A's? Who made this poll, Bill Bavasi?
-
Your thinking of the voter polls. I'm posting the RPI ratings every Monday and last week they were #5.

Bay Area teams 39. San Francisco Giants 66. Oakland Athletics 72. San Francisco 49ers 83. San Jose Sharks 94. Golden State Warriors 104. Oakland Raiders Damn what did the A's do to drop that far from #11 last year? Love the Raiders low rank although the Warriors should be near the bottom.

I'm shocked LeBron wasn't voted a starter because ESPN keeps telling me he's the biggest name in basketball now. If the fans wanted him there he would have been voted in but he wasn't so boo hoo he'll get plenty of opportunites in the future. The East is incredibly guard heavy and that's why he didn't make it. I actually do think the above scenerio of Stern forcing LeBron on the team will happen after a bunch of phony media outrage, a la the Roger Clemens fiasco with the MLB All-Star Game last year. Yes Tim Duncan was a rookie ages ago.

Hell I kept predicting on this board last year that they'd have HHH/Lesnar unification bout at SummerSlam. So what if I'm going to be eight months off? Actually part of what I took from that promo was that maybe they are going to eventually make the Big Gold Belt the #1 belt in the company. The fact that they are going to have the belt defended in the main event leads me to think it might happen. A scary thought to say the least. Maybe they'll just end up pretending the Big Gold Belt is the belt with all the lineage all along.

The weakest argument for a player is always "well if he had stars around him" or "if he played on a better team" he'd be the greatest ever. If Archie Manning hadn't played with those sorry Saints teams he might been one of the best ever but he wasn't. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, these what if scenerios are bullshit as you can only go by what did happen. Oh and people always seem to think Jerry Rice was around Montana's whole career or that Montana always had a running game. Rice wasn't around for Montana's first two Super Bowls and he had that Hall of Fame backfield of Ricky Patton and Earl Cooper for his first Super Bowl win. Its is absolutely fucking pointless and absurd to bother comparing a quarterback this early in his career to all-time greats as already pointed that you don't know what the future will bring. And I don't even have anything against Tom Brady. Dan Marino played in his first Super Bowl in his second year in a season he threw 48 touchdowns and I'm sure no one, including Marino, thought he'd never play in another Super Bowl. To use a different sport as an example just four years ago you'd get many people to say Ken Griffey Jr. was on his way to being the greatest player ever and he had been a dominate player for an entire decade, not just for a few years. Four years later injuries have nearly destroyed his career and some question if he'll even make the Hall of Fame, although I still think he'll make it but again just an example. Point is in the end we have no fucking clue how the rest Tom Brady's career will go.

Damnit couldn't log on quick enough to make the first Ultimate Warrior joke. Maybe The Desciple will show up next week.

I think Al meant those are Karros' numbers against lefties and you assume right about the platoon as that's what I assume as well. A Hatteberg/Karros platoon is a lot better than either as a fulltime player with Karros being so much better against lefties and Hatteberg I think showing last year that 2002 was his career year and that isn't a very good option as an everday first baseman.

I call the 49ers...if there is anything official to claiming teams now. Oh and I reccomend that we don't let Choken One participate after he wasted everyone's time last year.

55-10...nuff said. Not to really bash Brady and I really don't care about the debate since its pointless with Brady still being so young as he could blow out his knee week 1 next year and never hear from him again. That being said Joe Montana never threw an incredibly bad interception (really what was Brady thinking?) in a Super Bowl to let the opposing team back in the game. In fact Montana never threw an interception in a Super Bowl.

Talk football in the SB thread, halftime show here
Bored replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Sports
So after this does this mean we'll get the return of "Up With People" at halftime? *hopes someone knows the reference* -
Um...somebody is taking this WAAAAAAAAAY too seriously. And there is a thread for talking about this anyways. Porn hounds? Saddened for blacks? Yikes. Just a partially bare breast, it wasn't like she started sucking Justin's dick.

It'd be cool to have Super Bowl I, period. No known copy of the game even exists. It is one of tv's most sought after programs. The NFL put out a DVD of the first 10 Super Bowl games, I believe...apparently they're uncut. I saw it in Future Shop the other day. Take that for what it's worth... I thought he just said no copy of Super Bowl I exists......unless you mean the Browns/Eagles game from way back. The DVD in question features those 30 minute Super Bowl highlight videos you see on ESPN this time of year.

Actualy its XXXIX. Considering there has only been one re-match of the previous year in a Super Bowl (Cowboys/Bills XXVIII) and the current state in the NFL I will guarentee that we will not see a Patriots/Panthers Super Bowl next year. In fact good bet at least one will miss the playoffs and maybe both. Oh and don't wanna quote a million posts but the dome vs. outdoor thing doesn't work with Super Bowl XXXIII (49ers/Bengals), Super Bowl XXV (Giants/Bills), and Super Bowl XXXII (Broncos/Packers) as all were great and all were outdoors. Also consider the two biggest blow outs ever were in domes (Super Bowl XX and Super Bowl XXIV). Its really just coincidence things have gone the way they have the last five years.

Okay Janet's boobie popped out, or so I heard. How quickly before that picture is all over the internet? Oh wait she had a pasty on...damnit.

Ya the Lingerie Bowl if you want to pay $20 to watch super models wear giant helmets and pads.
