Wouldn't matter anyway since the NFL, for whatever reason, doesn't allow the airing of original broadcast games. Only league that doesn't allow classic games to be shown on ESPN Classic.

Wow what an incredibly stupid decision to squib kick with that much time left. You only squib kick when there isn't enough time to run a play after the kick off.
-
Oh so I see both teams wanted to be introduced as a "team". Laaaaaaaaaame. The best part of the pregame crap is the player introductions.

Women's basketball hands down. The men's game is bad enough now but at least it can be semi-entertaining. The women's game is just boring as hell and the amount coverage it gets for the ratings it pulls in is unwarranted.

I 3rd the Brewers as the team who will have the worst record in baseball this year. The Tigers are going still lose at least 95 games this year even with Pudge. For them to be a .500 team they'd have to have a 38 game improvement over the previous year. I can't see them improving by that much as just improving by 20 games is a major accomplishment.

They should have made the players wear the old school short-shorts...or maybe not.

Down 19 points with 16 minutes left you figure its over...BUT NOT FOR STANFORD! Huge comeback win at Oregon, 83-80. 18-0!

Los Angeles Times is reporting that the A's are about to sign Eric Karros. They have nothing in terms of a solid right-hand bat off the bench and this will make the less left-handed against lefty starters. I assume they'll go with a Hatteberg/Karros platoon at first.

Don't you love it how Choken is shitting all over this game yet he's made more posts than anyone in this topic. Yes and thinking Survivor will get higher ratings than the Super Bowl is just idiotic. I have little interest in the game and no one to root for (slightly leaning towards the Patriots) but I'm still going to watch because it is the fucking Super Bowl.

Wasn't part of the Rumble stip that the winner main events WrestleMania? And how does HBK get a title shot since he didn't win the Rumble? This is just mind boggling.
-
Football is probably the hardest sport to try to compare players to over different eras. How would you compare a great offensive lineman in the 50s to a great wide receiver in the 90s? Yes and as already mentioned the list of players they have sucks. Steve Largent is on the list and Sammy Baugh isn't? Anyways I'll just answer this question: HELL NO!!!
-
God damn what is up with Arizona? Considering how Arizona is underachieving and how bad the rest of the Pac-10 is, Stanford actually has a shot at going...well I won't say it. No one has ever gone undefeated in conference play since it became a ten team conference back in 1978. Still have ten games left in conference and then the pointless conference tournament.
-
Yes. I think many of us can testify to that assertion. Who are these people? World Class and Lance Storm shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence.
-
Well raping girls at sex parties is a new twist but having female students fuck recruits is nothing new at these schools. I remember Real Sports ran a story a couple of years ago about Oregon having a group of female students who's main job appeared to be having sex with recruits.

Please stop posting stories from these bullshit sites like the one you posted about Psychosis showing up at the Rumble. Threads like these should be deleted immediately.

Ya I saw that but don't bet on it happening as he hasn't played 3rd in 11 years. If they did that then who plays right field? Could move Bernie Williams out to left maybe and put Matsui in right but they want Bernie DHing everyday. If anyone were to move to 3rd it'd be Jeter as that's where he probably should be already but doesn't look like they will do it. AP is reporting Ivan Rodriguez will sign with the Tigers on Friday, pending his physical.

Beyond Greg Maddux there isn't anyone out there for the Mets anyways and Maddux is just a temporary fix and the Mets need to think long term since they aren't going anywhere at the moment. Besides they got Rick Peterson now so the pitching is bound to be better this year. Since it hasn't been mentioned yet the Yankees signed Tyler Houston and at the moment he's their starting 3rd baseman but I seriously doubt they'll go all season with him. I know its fun to point and laugh at the Yankees losing Boone but really out of all their position players he was the one they could afford to lose.
-
I had no idea Mora is already going to be 32 this season, so ya they overpaid for him as last year probably was a fluke. I always figured he was younger since hadn't been in the majors that long. That being said with the money Angelos throws around that isn't going to be a contract that cripples the Orioles a la Albert Belle.

ESPN.com news services Nets coach Byron Scott, one year removed from taking New Jersey on a second consecutive trip to the NBA Finals, has been fired. The Nets are expected to announce the move at a 2 p.m. ET news conference. Assistant coach Lawrence Frank will be named interim coach, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports. New Jersey practices as usual at 1 ET today and Frank is expected to coach the session. "He has absolutely no resentment or anger," Scott's agent, Brian McInerney, told The Associated Press. "He's going down as the winningest coach in Nets' history." McInerney said Scott met with Nets president Rod Thorn today. "They discussed the situation and both concluded that the timing of the move is to the benefit of the team," McInerney told AP. "They decided another voice needed to be heard in the locker room." The Nets, an unspectacular 22-20 with the All-Star break approaching, lead the 22-24 Celtics by two games in the Atlantic Division but have only the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference. The game that sealed Scott's fate was Friday's loss at 18-26 Miami, in which the Nets were routed 85-64, sources told Stein. Scott wasn't around for the final 14 minutes Sunday of what turned out to be his final game as New Jersey's coach -- a 110-91 victory over Boston that halted a five-game losing streak. He was ejected late in the third quarter by referee Luis Grillo for saying something that earned a one-technical ejection. Frank finished up. The last year of Scott's four-year deal was to pay him between $2.6 million and $3 million. Despite leading the Nets to back-to-back Finals appearances, management had refused to give Scott an extension while the team was for sale. It was sold Friday to developer Bruce Ratner, who plans to move the team to Brooklyn. Scott's status was made even more tenuous by persistent reports that he lacked the support of star guard Jason Kidd, who berated Scott after an embarrassing 110-63 loss in Memphis on Dec. 13. A source in the Nets' front office told AP that Kidd spoke to management Saturday and said the team need a change in leadership. Scott was ejected during the third quarter of Sunday's 110-91 victory over the Boston Celtics, which ended a five-game losing streak and kept New Jersey (22-20) from dropping to .500. Kidd, and forward Kenyon Martin, also took issue with Scott's coaching moves during last year's Finals, including how the coach used former Net Dikembe Mutombo against San Antonio and his reluctance to call for double teams on center/Finals MVP Tim Duncan. In the series' decisive Game 6, the Spurs went on a 19-0 second-half run that ultimately finished New Jersey. In the offseason, Kidd was being hotly pursued in free agency by the Spurs, and there were reports claiming that Kidd would not consider re-signing with the Nets unless Scott was fired. Despite their differences, Kidd re-signed with New Jersey for $103 million over six years. On Friday, the Nets were officially sold to Brooklyn developer Bruce Ratner, who is intent on moving the Nets across the Hudson River to the borough. The rest of the NBA owners must approve the deal as well. Scott holds the franchise record with 149 coaching victories. After a 25-56 record in his first season, the Nets went 52-30 in 2001-02 and 49-33 in 2002-03 -- losing to the Lakers and the Spurs in the finals. Scott's dismissal brought to 16 the number of head coach jobs that have turned over since the 2002-03 season. Two weeks ago, the Knicks fired Don Chaney and replaced him Hall of Fame coach Lenny Wilkens. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Boston College is #13 in strength of schedule so that probably has something to do with it and they do have wins over two Top 25 RPI teams in Seton Hall and N.C. State. Pittsburgh has only the #76 strongest schedule and have seven wins against teams not even ranked in the Top 200 and only one win against a team in the Top 25, Alabama. I'm just posting them to bring some content to the thread and since the rankings to do play a part in the seedings of the NCAA Tournament. Edit 2: Pittsburgh has two top 25 wins as they beat Syracuse but their weak non-conference schedule hurts them.

What the Yankees can offer would be irrelevent if the A's and Chavez reach a contract extension this season. Although I think they would have to sign a new deal before the season starts as I don't expect negotiations to go into the season. Beane was definently higher on Chavez than Tejada and the A's have no one the minors who would be ready to step in at 3rd base in 2005 so the chances are better of keeping Chavez. But I don't get my hopes up for keeping any A's player anymore as it just makes it easier to see them go when they do leave.

Edit: Holy shit did I fuck up a simple name like "Hilton" in the title. Okay so the source is the New York Post's Page Six so take it with a grain of salt.

In case anyone missed it, Rick Pitino is taking an indefenite leave of absence from Louisville for a urological related problem but prostate cancer has been ruled out.
