Soriano didn't make a start last year in the majors so he's pretty much entrenched in the bullpen for now unless they finally trade Freddy Garcia. They could try him at closer because I don't think they can put Guardado there since they have no other lefty relievers at the moment. They'll probably end up going with Hasagawa though since he filled in for Sasaki primarily last year. Actually I just figured out who Bavasi will probably waste the money on...Ugueth Urbina.

I can almost guarentee that the Mariners won't match the Tigers offer even though there situation at catcher is just dreadful right now and Pudge would be the type of signing that could make their offseason look not so bad. The Mariners aren't known for making dynamic moves like that.

Course back in the early 90's when people were staying with their team for long periods of time you had good old Deon Sanders jumping sleeping with the 2 super bowl teams(Cowboys and 49ers). Yes and that was when the salary cap started. Deion signed with the 49ers four games into the season in '94 for a low salary just to win a championship. He was a free agent after this season so he signed with Dallas.

12 out of 16 NL teams last year drew over 2 million fans. Check out the numbers for yourself. And 19 out of 30 overall and the Twins and White Sox were just under two million so that means that more than two-thirds of baseball drew around 2 million or better last year. See MikeSC is the sports fan who actually believes Bud Selig when he tells everyone what horrible shape baseball is in.

Hey cool somebody is paying attention. Actually I picked out the covers a while back out of Boredom and didn't choose them based on being jinxes or not but I'm pretty sure I picked a hilarious pre-Super Bowl XXIV cover with John Elway on it. The cover I think said "We'll Show Up" and then of course they lost 55-10.

I think the Patriots win easily as the NFC is what the AFC was ten years ago. Or for a current analogy the AFC is the equivalent of the NBA's Western Conference and the NFC is the Eastern Conference. Panthers wouldn't be one of the top four teams in the AFC. So right now I'm going Patriots 24, Panthers 7.

Vader made his WWF debut opening Raw that night so that's probably a good guess as to why WCW had the World Title match open up Nitro to keep WCW fans from flipping over to see Vader.
-
Was this the match where he shook the ring until it broke after the match? Yup..."recap" by Scott Keith.
-
Well a Patriots/Panthers Super Bowl generates just about as much excitement as the Ravens/Giants Super Bowl from a couple of years ago, which is not a whole lot. I expect a similar result to that one with the Patriots blowing out the Panthers. That's more of a knock at the NFC than the Panthers themselves as even if the Eagles won I'd pick a Patriot blow out.

The thing about the NFL is parity is really a recent phenomena. People can point to the early 90s when it was always the Cowboys and 49ers all they want but it was always like that in the NFL. 60s of course had the Packers. In the 70s it was pretty four teams who dominated the rest of the league: Steelers, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders. In the 80s of course the 49ers but you also had the great Redskin teams and the Raiders continued to win. When those teams weren't winning the Super Bowl you had to ass kicking, dominate teams like the '85 Bears and the '86 Giants. Then the 90s came you had Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, and Broncos who were all dominate teams at times. Really until the late 90s there was no such thing as parity in the NFL and personally I liked having a dominate team (plus I grew up a 49er fan) and having teams that you absolutely wanted to see lose just because they always won and it was a big deal when they lost. From Super Bowl VI (1971 season) to Super Bowl XXXIII (1998 season) there were only ten different teams who won the Super Bowl. We've had four different teams in the last four years, all first time winners, although that might change this year with the Patriots. As bad as baseball can be perceieved and as annoyed as many of us get with the Yankees, they have it pretty well right now. You have a dominate team everyone roots against (Yankees), you have teams who are regulars to the playoffs who are a cut above the rest (Braves, A's, Red Sox, Giants), and then you have teams that come out of no where to win it all (Angels, Marlins).
-
No the NFL's bad era was from 1982 to 1987. '82 you had the first strike season where they only played nine games. Then partly because of the strike the USFL comes into exsistence which obviously didn't provide much competition in terms of box office but they did steal away several good college players from the NFL like Steve Young, Herschel Walker, Jim Kelly, and others. Then '87 you have a another strike season which they had the embarassment of the "scab" games. Oh and as for MLB they've had several up and down periods. Obviously the most recent "bad era" would have to be the mid 90s.
-
Can someone tell ESPN and ABC that the rest of the country doesn't give a shit about Stephon Marbury and the Knicks quest to get the fucking 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.
-
On top of that the NBA Finals were shown on tape delay during that time including Magic's first Finals in 1980 when they beat the Sixers.
-
I fucking hate these later start times they started doing a few years ago during the playoffs just to get one game in east coast primetime. Its a Sunday, people are home, who gives a shit about primetime?
-
If they do it like the Cruiserweight Contender Countdown back in the dying the days of WCW it could actually be pretty good. Essentially its like those Dudley Boy Invitational crap matches they stick on a PPV when they have no clue what to do with the tag titles but with cruiserweights its actually entertaining. If its just a straight battle royal then it won't be any good no matter who's in the match.

Although I already made points about why MLB won't move the Expos to San Juan this point above I have to disagree with. For one thing there are a ton of players from Puerto Rico in MLB who would jump at the chance to play at home. Secondly Puerto Rican women are hot and a lot of players would jump at the chance to play there just bang some mamacitas. Hell I'm convinced that's why Carl Everett signed with them.
-
Sounds like Raider fans. They act like they are in a gang.
-
Bud Selig and his merry band of morons overpriced the tickets in San Juan so they didn't even sell out all of those games last year even though its a minor league size stadium. Also I don't know of any local buyers in the San Juan area that would move the team and they'd need a new stadium. On top of that the other teams don't like having the extra travel. Oh and yes I too can't find anything that says the Expos are officially moving after this season.

Its my understanding that the Most Overrated award is based on who you feel doesn't deserve the push they are getting, as in they are overrated in the mind of the company they work for and not the overall IWC. Vice versa for the Most Underrated award.

Problem is Burger Boy Jr. can't field at all so he really needs to be on an A.L. team and playing in Dodger Stadium ain't gonna help his offense. He should have tried to hook back up with the Royals. But anyways fuck 'em FOR NOT SLIDING YOU FAT PIECE OF SHIT!!! I hope his career continues to go down the toilet. *ahem* Anyways back to the Tigers. If they lose 100 games they'll be most improved team in the league. Even though their in the Central I can't see them not losing at least 90 games but again, for them, that'd be a major improvement.
-
Bud Selig and company are getting out while they are behind...the Brewers are up for sale. .
-
I think Max Kellerman put it best the other day. If a 14-year old girl can compete with the top men in the world, it's not a sport.
-
Shit if regular people are confused think of half of NASCAR's fanbase. Those good ol' boys aren't gonna appreciate some fancy new system.
