Are you sure about that? 8-8 is incredibly rare to make the playoffs, although more chance now with the four divisions, and I'm pretty sure no 9-7 team has ever been to the Super Bowl. Typically the in the NFL most of the time the Super Bowl champ was one of the two or three best teams in the league during the regular season. You do get years like when the Patriots won two years ago and probably wasn't one of the best teams in the league during the regular season but they still went 11-5. Baseball the idea works. Best example was the '87 Twins who won only 85 games but won the World Series. The East had four teams with better records than the Twins that year.

Well it depends on if you subscribe to Billy Beane's crapshoot theory. Obviously the A's are the #1 example of winning with a low payroll since they've done it for five straight years ('99 they were in the Wild Card race until the last week) but have crapped out four consective years in the playoffs.
-
Hmmm wouldn't mind seeing Rhodes in an A's uniform. Still rumors flying about the A's going after Mike Cameron and possibly already have made a contract offer. They only way I could see them signing him is if they trade Jermaine Dye and there is actually a rumor of Dye and a prospect to the Dodgers for Paul Lo Duca. Not so sure if I buy the rumor but as long as the prospect isn't Joe Blanton I'd do that in a second as the A's desperately need to get Dye's salary off the payroll and give them more felxibility for the rest offseason and for midseason trades.

God damn BCS controversy has turned me into a whore for a day. *holds head down in shame*

From my original post: I'm a dork so I'm actually doing some research but I'll probably just ignore all of it and go with my instincts.
-
They just did it so it would get more attention and the NCAA allowed it. The date a game is played really doesn't mean much anymore. Oh and yes like I said in my original post keep the bowl discussion to the other threads and just let this be picks only.

Make it self confidence and the ability to talk to girls and you got yourself a deal! SOLD!

WOAH...Texas drops to the Holiday Bowl? Did the Cotton pass on them? Wow.
-
Its all about predetermined conference tie-ins and Conference USA some how convinced five bowls this year. The MAC only has two so NIU is left out. The Houston Bowl could have taken them as an at-large but they went with Navy. Oh and I'll definently have the my Bowl Pick 'Em up later tonight.
-
Oregon State but it was on the road and only lost by 2.
-
No they rejected the GMAC Bowl to weasel their way to getting a home game in the Ft. Worth Bowl but they still might get smoked by a very good Boise State team.
-
Yes I copied and pasted a list from the previous week but I corrected it.
-

-
Yup Kansas State/Ohio State in the Fiesta so they must have picked OSU first.
-
I'm stunned...they are passing up the Miami-Ohio State re-match that they could have hyped the shit out of and go with a game that wasn't very good the first time they played. My only guess is the Fiesta Bowl took Ohio State first. I knew that could happen but I thought maybe the BCS would convince them not to.
-
Wait...did they just say Florida State is going to the Orange Bowl? Did Miami get picked by the Fiesta Bowl or they actually going to have a re-match of a crappy game?
-
From collegebcs.com: Unbelievable.
-
Official...Oklahoma vs. LSU in the Sugar Bowl.
-
Starts in a couple of minutes...
-
Its plainly simple...until there is a playoff there will NEVER be a champion that people don't question. Seriously life will go on if people don't think Oklahoma is the real national champ so don't lose sleep over it.
-
Cheap plug: Either tonight or tommorrow I'll be posting my College Bowl Pick 'Em Contest. From collegebcs.com with two computer ratings still not announced this is the current unofficial Top 3 ratings: 1 Oklahoma 4.94 2 LSU 5.99 3 Southern Cal 6.48
