Oh god damn here we go with the anit-Yankee media bullshit. Anyways Ichiro's rookie season was far superior to Matsui's. He still shouldn't have won but its worth pointing out. If Matsui had a season like Ichiro's he would have won easily and he still almost won! Also you insult these players by giving them a rookie of the year award and I remember Peter Gammons saying that Kaz Sasaki didn't want the award when he won it.
-
Hmmm so do we take the guy who stole 21 out of 26 bases or the guy who stole 2 out of 4 bases? Gee I don't know tough call. Oh and Berroa had 7 triples to Matsui's 1. That's close? No point in bringing up Ichiro because he shouldn't have won either for the exact same reason. Same with Kaz Sasaki and Hideo Nomo. The Japanese League has proven to be strong and a true professional league. Just because they've voted that way in the past doesn't mean people shouldn't start voting a different way now. Again similar statistics (when you actully LOOK at them) and Matsui is 29 with real pro expierence so Berroa was the obvious choice.
-
He also had more triples, more stolen bases, and higher slugging percentage. Um not exactly across the board for Matsui. Their numbers overall are fairly similar (Berroa with a one point edge in OPS) and Berroa didn't have the expierence of over 1,200 games in a high level professional league like Matsui so he gets the nod.

Here is ESPN.com's Top 50 Free Agents which also makes prediction on where each free agent will go. I know they did this last year and don't remember how accurate they were but I really have to question the prediction of Keith Foulke to the Braves. Maybe bob_barron can clue me in but is Smoltz being moved back to starter? If he isn't there is no way Foulke would sign and why would the Braves want him? Anyways odds are Foulke will re-sign with the A's or at least that's what is being reported at the moment but never know with this ownership.

For most of the season I didn't even think Texas should be ranked and before yesterday probably wouldn't even have them in the Top 20. They seem to have turned the corner with Vince Young at quarterback now and I was seriously shocked by the beating they put on Oklahoma State on the road. Earlier in the season there is no doubt in my mind they would have lost that game.

I said he would be a star while he was being drafted out of junior college. Then when the A's got him I said "They're going to be able to trade one of the big 3 now for offense and it won't hurt them a bit". Being as how they have 3 lefties they can go ahead and trade Zito who will be making the most and will get them a damn fine bat. So you in 2000 said that a 17th round draft pick by the Oakland A's would be a star? Anyhoo the A's have another stud named Joe Blanton who you should expect to see called up during the season. The A's won't be able to keep all the Big Three so good thing they have some replacements around although I hope the loss of Rick Peterson doesn't hurt their development. Gonna be tough with the A's ownership to keep more than one of the Big Three past 2006.

Well the Colorado argument was they deserved to be there more than Nebraska but Oregon deserved to be there more than either one and proved it by blowing out Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl. Anyway I feel fairly safe that USC will run the table.

That was one of the few great matches of the Invasion angle. CRZ recap: KURT ANGLE v. KING EDGE for the WCW United States championship - Edge ducks the swing, elbow, elbow, into the ropes, dropkick. Angle manages to grab a facelock, then shoots the half for 1. Single leg, leg trip, 1. Angle rides Edge around and slaps the back of his head. Mat wrestling = HEEL! Angle takes some time to mug for the crowd - big mistake, Edge is up and ready to throw the elbow again - or is it a punch? Right, right, right, into the ropes, hiptoss, armdrag, Angle-esque "Wooow!" from Edge. Angle, pissed, runs into a drop toehold. *Edge* with the front chancery. Wow, what's all this mat stuff? Angle tries to grab the legs - makes it too his feet - double leg slam, but Edge hangs on and Angle ends up in a monkey flip. Angle runs into ANOTHER armdrag, and Edge applies the armbar. "Angle sux!" chant. Back to the vertical base - Angle improvises a backdrop...Edge bridges out - going for a backslide - nope - Angle unlocks an arm - Edge wants the Edge-ecution but Angle barrels him back to the corner. Back to the middle of the ring...Angle lifts Edge again but Edge won't let go...slides down the back - Angle runs into a half nelson, into a bulldog-esque half nelson faceplant - 1, 2, Angle kicks out. Man, where are all these MOVES coming from? Angle put into the ropes, head down, Angle kicks. Edge ducks the clothesline...but runs into a belly-to-belly that takes him over the ropes and out to the floor! Angle outside as the crowd gets bleeped - Edge rolled back in - cover - 1, 2, Edge grabs the bottom rope. Angle rams Edge's head into the buckle - right, right, right, kick, stomp, stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp - Hebner pulls him off. Right, right, right, right, again he's put out of the corner. Heyman has designs on putting Mike Tenay in Ross' chair after the Alliance wins - well WHY NOT. Edge comes back - right, right, right, into the ropes is reversed but Edge connects with a clothesline off the ropes. Whip is reversed by Angle into a fireman's carry - and right into the headlock. Edge fights it off with a LITTLE help from the crowd - right, right, Angle rakes the face. Edge put in the corner, but he gets the boot up - second rope...no, Angle blocks - there's ANOTHER belly-to-belly. Wooow! Angle should go for the anklelock right now, but instead he climbs to the top - guess what, the moonsault MISSES! Give it an Xbox replay! Angle up at 6 - Edge up right after - Angle ducks the first swing, but not the next one - another clothesline by the challenger - Viscera kick. Right, right, right, right, gutshot, pulls him to the centre - Angle reverses and attempts the Olympic Slam, but Edge lands on his feet - then manages the Edge-omatic...but only gets 2. Angle grabs the legs but Edge rolls him up - and gets another 2! Angle puts his head in Edge's gut - THERE'S the OLYMPIC SLAM! Angle takes a lot of time to celebrate - DOWN COME THE STRAPS! ANGLELOCK!! But before Edge taps, the music and flames of Kane hit....and even though we DON'T see Kane, Angle is spooked enough to release the hold and stare at the entryway. By the time he turns around, Edge is back up - spear - 1, 2, 3. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new United States champion. (6:33) KANE finally *does* appear, out through the crowd - Angle backs up into Kane...makes a GREAT face - then turns around to take his right, right, right, into the ropes, big boot, if Kane drops the leg I'm gonna shoot somebody...no, it's Kane with an anklelock! Angle is good enough to tap - like THAT'LL help - here comes STEVEN RICHARDS...Kane dumps him over the top. TOMMY DREAMER is in - clothesline for him. Chokeslam! Thanks for coming out tonight, Tommy! Richards attempts a Stevenkick but Kane catches it - HE gets a chokeslam! Play his music and set the corners on fire!

Carolina pulls it out and I avoid the tie with Choken.
-
NFL rules are so lame. There is no 2nd game on Fox in my area so who the fuck cares if you stay on a game 15 minutes past hour? Laaaaaaaaaaaaame.
-
CAROLINA TAKES THE LEAD! Come on hold them I don't want to tie!
-
Carolina turns it over...Cincinnati kicks a field goal...uh oh...it looks like a tie between me and Choken as at the moment we're both 7 points off on the tiebreak.
-
God damnit Tampa takes the lead on a 3rd and 20 on a impossible touchdown catch by McCardell. Fuck I need Carolina to win because it looks like I'll lose on the tiebreak if they don't win unless Cincinnati can score a late touchdown and then I'd win the tiebreak.

Yes why is the NFL still not allowing the original broadcasted classic games to be show like every other sport? I've said this before but I think it has something to do with the NFL Films where they feel only they should tell the history of the NFL.

Damnit I messed up what I said earlier about West Virginia controlling their own destiny. So since I've bothered to go through it so much today here is the Big East title race breakdown: Pittsburgh - win out and they win the title. Miami - win out, which would include a win over Pittsburgh, only lose out on tiebreak if they end up tied with Virginia Tech. West Virginia - win out and need Pittsburgh to beat Miami, would create a three-way tie with Pitt and Va Tech and they would win the tiebreak since they beat them both. Virginia Tech - win out, need West Virginia to lose one game, need Pittsburgh to lose two games, this would set up the tie with Miami.
-
Oh come its OHHHio State! They never job! Ya they put over Wisconsin but what good it do them? They've been jobbing ever since! OHHHSU only jobs to teams that aren't a threat to their spot! God I hope they didn't politic their way to going over Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and winning the Big Silver Football. Damnit OHHHio State stop holding everyone down!
-
Well my guess is TCU won't jump three spots even though three teams in front lost as it just doesn't work that way. I'll say they'll come in at #7 but that would just leave them one spot out of a guarenteed BCS berth. Thing is I just can't get as excited about them as I was about Northern Illinois as TCU has just as been about as unimpressive as an undefeated team ever can be. Oh on a side note about the Big East bowl picture from earlier is now after Pittsburgh's win, West Virginia now controls their own destiny to win the Big East. They play Pittsburgh next week at home and if they win they hvae an excellent shot at winning the conference. Pittsburgh even though they are undefeated still of course have Miami in the last game so its not an easy road for them. WVU has Syracuse and Temple remaining after the Pittsburgh game.
-
Its all over...Pittsburgh wins. So Miami, Virginia Tech, and Florida State (eventually) all lose. Don't look now the #3 team in the BCS on Monday is going to be...OHHHio State.
-
Bleh can't we talk about this like um the week of the game? Anyways here's the really big news...STANFORD~ beat Arizona State 38-27. Ya 4-4 mother fucker! Come on still got a shot at the "historic" Silicon Valley Bowl! Here is your score of the day: San Diego State 7, UNLV 0. Yup that was the final score.
-
Wow what a finish and that drop was just shocking, poor guy since he put them in that position to win. Mississippi is still undefeated in the SEC.
